Using 'find my iPad' in supervised mode?

We have just puchased 30 minis.
Updated to IO7 through configurator and now all IPADs are supervised.
The problem is: I want to activate 'find my Ipad/iphone' through the cloud. The IPADs have the 'find my ipad' switched on. But the cloud is not finding them. I tried switching find my ipad on and off, but the Ipads will not allow it to know off.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks

No. If your ipad is just "asleep" it should work, but if it's manually turned off then there is no way to connect to it. The Find feature works through the same network connection the iPad uses to connect to WiFi and/or cellular data.

  • TS4006 I used find my ipad from my iphone. I have now found my ipad. How do I re-activate it?

I used "find my ipad" last Friday, from my iphone. I found the ipad this morning at work, where I left it. How do I now, re-activate the ipad? It does not turn on.

Charge it in a wall outlet using the original accessories. Leave it alone for several hours, then with it still plugged in, reset by holding down the power & home buttons until you see the Apple. Let go and the device should reboot.

I lost my iPad 3days ago. I tried to use ”find my iPad” but always”off line”Idon't understand why always”off line” and  how Ican get back my iPad!

    Two possibilities:
    1. Maybe it's not turned on.
    2. Maybe the iPad is wiped (setup as new)

  • Do I need mobile me to use find my iPad

I want to use find my iPad but I found out that you can't subscribe to mobile me any more, what do I do?

You now use iCloud which you activate on the iPad via the Settings app.

  • I had to use Find my Ipad and of course I found it and now I can't turn off the find my ipad alert screen. Everything is locked.

I had to use find my ipad app, and after finding it, I turned off icloud on my iphone but still my screen is locked on my ipad and I can't turn it of or swipe the "OK".
    What's the deal?
    Thanks.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Is it possible to switch a IPAD on supervised mode without a MAC PC?

    Hi There!
We are about to use iPads and IPods for a Point of Sale solution for a customer. I need to activate the supervised mode to use some of our SOTI MobiControl MDM features. Since I have no Mac available is it possible to activate the supervised mode with a Windows machine or on the device?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Johan,
Unfortunately you can't. You need to use Apple Configurator which is only available for Mac OS X. You can't supervise a device with a Windows machine or on the device itself. Supervision ties management of the device to a specific computer and Apple has allowed MDM's to take advantage of some of the features that Configurator has. So far, Apple has only made the initial supervision process possible through Apple Configurator by wiping the device and adding the supervision profile to the device.
I know its not the answer you want to hear, but I hope it answers your question.

  • How do I use Find my ipad if I haven't set up an icloud account

I can't find my iPad. I know that I have "find my ipad" enabled on my device but I don't have an iCloud account and looking at Apple support, that appears to preclude me from using the "Find My iPad" app. Any way around this?
    Thanks.

This article contains a couple of other options as well. You can ask the person that found it to email you as well. I'm not sure that you can do that once the iPad is locked but take a look here.

It certainly can't hurt to call the police that's for sure. I'm not sure what they can do, but I would give it a try. If they can't do anything, you will want to consider changing all of the private information that the thief could have access to on the iPad - like your email addresses, credit cards - things like that.
Start with the police and see what they say. Good luck!

  • My iPad2 does not show it's position on a map when using find my iPad on mobile me

Installed find my iPhone on my iPad2 and my iPhone 4 however the iPad will not show up on a map whereas the iPhone does. iPad is wifi only and is connected to my wireless network. I have registered and even sent test notification to the iPad which all worked OK. Any ideas anyone?

The information has to get from the iPad to the server somehow. It has to connect to the network. The network knows nothing about the iPad and the Find my iPhone service.
Here's a scenario. A thief steals a WiFi iPad. He is not going to stay where he found it. He is going to leave a registered network.  Perhaps he is in a car, on a bus, or on a train. Find my iPhone will not find the iPad. There are no registered networks in range. He gets it home. There's a passcode lock. It still won't connect to his WiFi network. He has to erase the device so he can access it. No more Find my iPhone.
But here's another scenario. I can't find my WiFi iPad. I check Find my iPhone. It locates it at my friend's place where I left it.
So Find my iPhone does have a use for a WiFi iPad but not as much as for one with 3G.

  • How to use "Find my iPad"?

When you locate a device using Find My iPhone app, I type a message and it sends the message to the device. It also shows on my computer the location. My question is this: Once this is done, I can move my device to another location, turn it off or keep it on but the only thing that the computer will show is the location again. How do I get to the window that allows me to send a message/sound again? As an example, if I recover the device and then lose it shortly thereafter, going to the computer only allows me to see the map from the initial time that I lost it.

    I'm glad to help,
    Here's How:
As noted above, you need to have set up Find My iPhone on your device prior to it getting lost or stolen. If you did, go to https://www.me.com/ in your web browser (there's also a Find My iPhone app [opens iTunes link] that you can install on another iOS device to track it. These instructions are for using the web-based tool).Log in using the account you used when setting up Find My iPhone. This may be your Apple ID/iTunes account.
When you log in, Find My iPhone will immediately begin trying to locate your device. You'll see onscreen messages as it works. If the device is turned off, the map will display its last known location, not necessarily its current location. When it's turned back on, the map will update. If it finds your device, it will zoom in on the map and show the location of the device using a blue dot. When this happens, you can zoom in or out of the map, and view it in map, satellite, and hybrid modes, like any Google Map.
When your device is found, a window will pop up over the blue dot (if it disappears because you clicked elsewhere on the page, just click the blue dot again to get it back). Click the window and you'll see the various options you have. The first option is to send a message to the device or have it play a sound. You can send a message--for instance, letting someone know how to return the device to you--that will appear onscreen like a text message.Sending a sound to the device is best when you think you've misplaced your device in the house or office and want help finding it.
You can also click the "lock" button. This will allow you to remotely lock the device's screen and set a passcode (even if you hadn't previously used a passcode) that will prevent the thief from using your device or accessing your personal data.To do this, click the "lock" button, enter the 4-digit lock code you want to use twice, and then click "lock" again. Your device will now be inaccessible to the thief unless they guess your code.
For even greater security, you can also remotely delete all data from the device. To do this, click the "wipe" button. There, you'll see a warning (basically, don't do this unless you're absolutely sure you want to). Click the box that says you understand what you're doing and click the "Erase All Data" button. This will delete all your data, preventing the thief from accessing it.If you get the device back, you can restore your data from backup.
If you think your device is on the move, click the curved arrow at the top right corner of the screen to refresh and get a new fix on your device's location.
    hope this helps!!

  • Ipad locked up after using "find my ipad alert"

i used my iphone to find my ipad and sent an alert.  now my ipad is completely locked up.  it has a window "Find My iPad Alert" with a buttom below to click ok.  When I click.. it blinks but does not go away.
I cannot hold down and power off.. or get the screen unlocked otherwise.  I am guessing I am stuck indefinitely... or until my battery loses all power.  Help!

found the answer after I posted my question.  pressed power/home and got it to reset.

  • I used find my iPad but its off... How can I get it to turn on?

I lost my iPad recently and have been trying to use iCloud to help find my iPad but it keeps on saying its offline and I just wanted to know if there was any way I can turn it on so that I can locate the position of my iPad because I know for a fact it is not in my house.

Sorry, but if the iPad is turned off, or isn't connected to WiFi or G3, or has had the Find My iPad service disabled, there's no way to locate the iPad.
    Regards.
