after several repetitions, I have to call the task manager alt+del+ctrl, then come back to the firefox window to be able to use keyboard and mouse again

That model has a known fault in that Nvidea sold Apple and other computer manufacturers bad GeForce 8600M GT video chipsets that failed eventually. Apple had a program that repaired this at no cost to the owner but it expired almost two years ago.
If this is what happened to yours, and the symptoms suggest so, the only proper fix is a new logic board and I amd pretty sure Apple no longer has parts. When my Late 2007 MBP (same faulty chipset) failed, Apple told me there were no more parts and they could not even do the fixed-rate "depot repair" on mine even though I was willing to pay the ~US$300 for the repair.

The fact that yours is shown as "vintage" means Apple will not work on it but an independent service provider MAY be able to get the parts from Apple. However, as so may new logic boards were required to satisfy the repair program, from a practical standpoint boards for these are hard to find.

I've restarted my computer twice, just in case that was the problem. It doesn't appear to be the problem. I still can't open Firefox. This is what is happening. All that opens is a white page with transparent top. It has the Minimize, Restore, Close buttons in the upper right corner, but nothing else. I can't see anything else. Why is this happening? I cannot scroll using Firefox. I can scroll in I.E. and Chrome. This is a new problem. I've used Firefox for years.

Using my mouse pad scroll feature I cannot scroll in Firefox. I've been using Firefox for years and never had a problem before. I can scroll in Chrome and I.E. There are a few websites I can scroll in but not in Yahoo and several other sites. and I can't scroll on the page I'm typing this question on.

Try to modify the pref ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the scroll pad work.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the pref.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).

I've been using firefox as my default brower for a year and all of a sudden when I click on it , it won't open.

Google chrome will open as will internet explorer but not firefox.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Download doesn't in full speed if not using Firefox window.

In FireFox Version 4.0, the download is not in full speed if I am not activating a FireFox window.
Did I miss-setting some option on FireFox or Window 7?
I need to keep working, or at least moving my cursor, on a FireFox window in order to have full speed download and download window statue update. Otherwise, the download is almost in idle.
Now I can not download a larger file and, leave my computer alone or even work on other windows.

[Solved] When I open multiple Firefox windows an orange pull down tab appears and I cannot exit from any single window. I have to exit all of the Firefox windows to close one.

I like to open several Firefox windows when I am browsing the internet. Since mi reinstall of windows XP with sp3 I installed Firefox 5.0.1. Now when I open multiple windows they kind of window in a window and I get this orange pull down menu. I can no longer close any one single window. I click the lower of the two top right X's to close the window and all the tabs in that window, but nothing happens. I also don't like the look and feel of the orange pull down menu

It's been two years since Windows 7 64 bit computers came out. At what point is Firefox thinking of providing a browser that is compatible with this. I haven't used Firefox for 2 years as a results. And what exactly is Waterfox?

If you do a search on the web, you will discover that I am far from the only one who finds that she cannot use Firefox because it is incompatible with Windows 7 64 bit. I'm pretty sure there must be hundreds of thousands of users out there that can not use Firefox for the same reason. At what point are you thinking of updating your browser?
Also are you connected to Waterfox and is it safe?

In device manager tick Show hidden devices, under view on the toolbar.
If DM cannot see it you cannot install a driver, not sure why that hardware will not get detected.

Firefox is a web browser not a homepage.
It sounds like you you have the old www.google.com/firefox/ start page that used to be the default homepage in Firefox before Firefox 4.0 sometime. It is not being maintained by Google anymore so either ignore the message or while in Firefox go to Tools->Options->General->Homepage section and change your homepage.

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:

*Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.

*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Windows 8.1 pro N apps open and comes back to start again

I have just installed windows 8.1 pro N and I have got an issue. the issue is when I download any app from windows store it opens and comes back to start again. I had faced this problem before also.
