Using Firefox @ Facebook, My news feed is filled with advertising, doesn't happen with any other browser
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and this helps for a short time, then it all comes back, there are advertising blocks after every few postings and at the top of the page and the bottom, using IE or chrome there is no issue
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Please check http://www.syus.com for an example. There is a Flash movie underneath the main navigation. The main navigation has a jQuery mouse event, and when you mouse over a button in the main navigation, the Flash movie re-starts. I can confirm that this happens not only on Flash swf files, but on standard <object> YouTube embeds.
Ok, I promise this is my last post without your help. I did some more troubleshooting and it only seems to happen when jQuery appends elements to the body that were previously invisible. In other words, I can simply change the css in jQuery from using element.css('display','inline'), but if I try to use something like slideDown or other jQuery tooltip functions that append and/or remove elements or style definitions it causes the "object restart" bug.
It is impossible for any developer to eliminate this bug without changing the actual source of jQuery, which I can't do. My only other option is not to use sophisticated show/hide jQuery elements like drop-down menus and tooltips on the same page as an embedded object, but I don't want to do this since Safari, Chrome and even IE (dear God) users won't have a problem with this. I think this is a major major bug that should be fixed in Firefox 4 as more and more sites will be looking to use the latest jQuery plugins. -
When I sign off on yahoo email. I get a blank page on every tab if any are opened. I have to exit out & restart firefox . It does not happen w/any other browser. I have no malware or viruses. Please advise.
Actually, it's not obvious & common sense would dictate that users' bookmarks would not be left stuck to random computers even once they've logged out of the account. No one wants that if it's a public work computer or if they're traveling & use an Internet cafe. As I am not the only one who has noticed this issue or had bookmarks disappear/be deleted, in addition, common sense would indicate it's not really a very good system. And carrying around a flashdrive to run Firefox off of it is a good solution? Really? Just curious why a useful feature such as being able to login & use your preferences & bookmarks & then logging out removes your preferences when you're gone hasn't been developed. Yahoo keeps my preferences when I logout (it's called My Yahoo!). Maybe a My Firefox or My Chrome solution could be developed.

I really wish internet providers wouldn't change things so much that your current software can't keep up. Black's Law Dictionary is the only authoritative source for legal terms and it's not free or on a website. The digital version (the only way to keep from carrying around a 5 lb book) is an add-on feature that previously worked with Firefox. It's supposed to work with all browsers, but the browsers have all been changing so much. If I would have known that my blacks-law plug in would be disabled until Firefox becomes compatible again, I would have never upgraded. Tell me how to go back to my old version, so I can finish my research in peace, until you guys get serious about making products that work for people BEFORE you release them.
Try using the Add-on Compatibility Reporter extension to "force" compatibility of that add-on.

You really need to contact the developer of that Burke's Law add-on and find out why they can't keep that add-on up-to-date with the new Firefox versions. IMO, if they are using a web browser as the interface for their product and are charging you for that service, they have an obligation to their customer's to keep their stuff fixed for the 2nd most used browser in the world. -

I cannot access my emails in Firefox, I can with any other browser
When I click and open firefox, the comcast homepage opens and shows that I am signed in with my screen name. When I get the next screen with a preview of 5 emails, the option is to chick on the message, see entire list of emails. When I click on that it recycles back to the same preview screen. I can access the internet at that screen, but no access to my emails.. the automated troubleshooting did not work, please advise me what to do

Context Menu: Facebook Home (News Feed) Images Are Not Recognized
You only see context menu items if they apply to the situation. If you right-click on an image, you will see items such as: View Image, Copy Image, Copy Image Location, Save Image As, etc. There is no exception for images which are a hyper-link. But in Facebook Home (News Feed), images of posts do not apply to the situation. Whereas images of Users' Profile Pictures (little images shown next to user's name in posts and in comments) DO apply.
So if you right-click on an image of a post, you won't see items such as "Copy Image Location". You will have to click on that image, and in the next page (the full-page preview of the post) right-click on the image in order to copy its location or save it to local drive.

You can right click an element on a web page and open the built-in Inspector to see which element gets selected.<br />
If you get the normal context menu there some other element gets selected.
Current Firefox versions have a lot of built-in web developer tools including an Inspector and Style editor.

I'm using firefox 4. It's making problem with Bangla font such as on facebook. It shows Bangla font in a very disordered way! what can I do?
While I was having the problem, I was already using Ovro and had the font "Siyam Rupali" selected. I changed the font to "SolaimanLipi" provided by Prothom Alo and my problems with Facebook, Gmail and Bangla blogs are gone now.

Use the Toshiba recovery disk or the Toshiba HDD recovery option.
If you dont have the Toshiba Recovery disk try the HDD recovery:

My itunes is on an old computer. So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years. How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again? Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.
I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts. Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins? Really concerned about losing any music, etc.These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

I have a dual boot configuration with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04 64. While flash videos are watchable, they are not nearly as smooth in Ubuntu 10.04 64 as in Windows 7 especially when I switch to fullscreen. I use firefox as my default browser in both operating systems. Actually, I have tried the newest versions of Google Chrome, SeaMonkey, Opera and others yet the problem still remains. I have tried disabling Compiz as well. Nothing seems to help except switching to Windows 7 to watch fullscreen flash videos. While this works, it is not the solution that I would prefer. Anyone know any way to make flash videos in firefox or any other browser in linux play as well as they do in Windows?You're welcome. Glad I could help.

You can wait for Quicken to update (supposedly in the works) or you can switch to another application such as Quicken Essentials or another application of which there are several you will find at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
Otherwise you'll need to return your MBA and buy a slightly older model Mac that still runs Snow Leopard. Lion will not run any PPC-only applications such as Qucken or MS Office 2004. -
