Using Flash files in Keynote

Ive started working with keynote and want to add some flash files to the presentation. I read that keynote supports importing of flash files.. but new to flash..and how it all works.
I found a website.. istockphoto.com that you can download some cool flash animations etc... it says that i must have macromedia flash or compatible program to edit the file.. i dont want to edit.. just want to use the royalty free flash file animation in my keynote presentation. When i download it. it appears as a blank sheet icon on my desktop with a flash extention, and if i try to drag it to my keynote presentation.. there is nothing.. does nothing...
Frustrated since there are some cool flash file animations to download that would be great in a presnetation.. but im clueless on what im doing if im doing it rigth.. have the right software etc. and all i want to do is download the file and use it.. as is.. not editing etc.
any suggestions??? help!!!!!

Your problem isn't with Keynote, it's with QuickTime. Keynote only supports media that QuickTime supports. If it doesn't play in the QuickTime player, it won't play in Keynote...but here's the part you won't like...QuickTime only supports Flash 5 or older, so my guess is that those files you have use a newer version.

  • Flash files in keynote?

    Hello all,
    I am using two programs on my MAC, Keynote and Flash (both
    programs are fairly new to me) for a conference presentation that
    is 1365 x 768. I want to use a 45 second animation that I created
    in flash and import it into Keynote however, the .mov exported from
    flash is way too large and I am getting a little stutter. My movie
    is fairly simple, no action script but does use filters from time
    to time. When I export the Flash MX files (also have tried with
    CS3) to a .swf it is about 10 mb. When I export the Flash file to a
    .mov file, it is about 100 mb. I have played with the different
    settings but if I export using fore example, the H.264 setting,
    then the type looks pixelated. Can anyone advise on export settings
    that I could use to maintain the quality of the type while
    compressing the video so it is not so huge? Or is there a program
    that can convert .swf to .mov for mac? I have tried a couple like
    "Flash Video Converter" but it will not convert a .swf as big as
    the one I created.
    Help!

  • Using Flash files

    I made an animation in Flash and want to import it into DVD SP. I tried to make a QT movie and exporting it into DVD SP but it came out looking interlaced and muddy. Is there a proper way to do this?
    thanks,
    c.

    What version of Flash are you using? did you import a qt into your flash porject or create graphics in flash? I believe version 7 and earlier uses a sorenson codec that's not great especially with disolves and soft backgrounds. also what is the resolution of your flash file?
    third, consider this. if you imported a qt into your flash, exported the flash to qt, converted it to a mpeg2 for dvdsp andthen burnt it, that a lot of compressions---the quality of you mpeg2 rely's significantly on the quality of your origional material. --the less the bit rate you start with, the less information compressor has to re compress it-it will degrade quickly with low qualty origional material.
    Final note -- you mentioned interlaced-looking video---my guess is it is the sorenson compression that does the most damage to quality.
    Hope this helps!

  • Using flash file name reference

    Hi all!
    I want to use file's own name in the actionscript written in
    flash. For example! I made a file namely myfile.fla, it will
    compile to myfile.swf, I want to use this name dynamically in
    actionscript written in the flash. Can anyone help me in this
    regard? Though its a very childish question!

    Hi kamboh,
    It does not matter that question is hard or easy. Its better
    to ask i think. anyway you can have your file name as follows:
    var sFileName = this._url;
    var extractedFileName = sFileName.split("/");
    //reassign
    var sFileNameWithExtension =
    extractedFileName[extractedFileName.length-1];
    var sFileName =
    extractedFileName[extractedFileName.length-1].split(".")[0];
    trace("sFileNameWithExtension " + sFileNameWithExtension)
    trace("sFileName " + sFileName)
    Enjoy! :-)

  • Using Flash Files on Internet Explorer

    I have created a web site in Flash MX2004. My .swf files are
    embedded in Dreamweaver and then uploaded to the web. The site
    works great on Safari, Mozilla, Firefox, but none of the buttons,
    roll overs will work unless you click on the browser. There is a
    response that comes up that says "Click to activate and use this
    control"
    Why won't Internet Explorer 7 just allow the site to work
    without clicking on the site to make it work. I have read articles
    about IEv7 disabling flash - but there are thousands of sites out
    there that work - Can Flash 8 enable IE version 7 to read my .swf
    files like .htm files?
    Thank You

    There is one of two things you can do. Search Adobe for a
    download patch/fix for Dreamweaver, or for Flash. There is one for
    each program, and it fixes the issue you are describing.
    You can also search "dreamerweaver activex fix" or "flash
    activex fix"

  • Flash files as images in XML Forms

    Hi Crew,
    Anyone had to use flash files in XML forms Based Publishing?
    Have created a simple XML Project asking the user to select two images, and these are then displayed in an iView.
    gifs & jpegs display no problemo.   swf (flash files) do not.
    Any ideas?
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    I need to display a .swf file in a XML form. I read the solution that you have posted about modifying the XSL file, but i have no clue how to go ahead with this.
    Could you kindly provide any document, link or the solution as to how to modify the XSL file ?
    Any kind of help would be truly appreciated.

  • How do I enable Flash files to be viewable in a PDF?

    My organization publishes our magazine in electronic form as a PDF. Our designer uses InDesign to layout everything and then exports it as a PDF. We have encouraged our authors to use Flash files within their articles to help demonstrate scientific concepts. The first author to do it gave us (3) files. When I have received the PDF for review, those (3) files show up in the layout as a generic black and white symbol and just underneath the Acrobat toolbar I get a message stating: "Some features have been disabled to avoid potential security risks. Only enable this feature if you trust this document."
    I know many of my readers will miss this announcement and won't know what to do with the (3) Flash files. Is there any way to export out of InDesign to PDF and automatically enable the Flash files so they show up and play?
    Thank you,
    Mark Maio

    You can right click and select properties, then you can enable the flash content for example when the page is visible or other options.
    The issue is when you lot's of flash embedded content , you have to do this for each flash embed seperatley, witch is somewhat cumbersome

  • Using SWL files with ActionScript 2

    Hi,
    Hopfully this wont get too drown out..I have a cisco DMP-4310g that can use flash files localy on the device i'm tring to find out what type of SWF files can be used. Here is a link to help... refer to the shockwave part  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_2/dmd/user/guide/playlis ts.pdf
    In the document it says the device dont support ActionScript 3 only ActionScript 2. So that bring me to my next question what do I need to create the SWF files this device can play. I'm not too savy with creating the files and thought I would ask couse I'm not too sure I know what I need to create them.
    Thanks in advance

    The info you cited answers your wondering... you can only use swf's that use Actionscript 2.  You can use any version of Flash greater than Flash MX to do that.  Prior to that version (inclusive) there was no AS2.

  • Changing flash .SWF file into Keynote presentation

    Someone please help.. presentation in 8 hours and I want to use Keynote but the presentation is in flash .swf and the directions I got didnt work- they were:
    Use Flash MX to save the file as a Flash 5 movie. It should have a filename extension of ".swf". Important: Keynote cannot import native Flash files whose filename extension is ".fla".
    In Keynote, Choose Edit > Place > Choose.
    Select the file and click Place to insert it into your slide.
    I choose edit but theres no option that says place, how do I read my swf file through Keynote?
    Thanks everyone!
    Daniel

    That kind of thing is not done in Fireworks, which is a graphics
    application; it should be done in a web page editing program such as
    Dreamweaver. Generally, Fireworks HTML is not acceptable for final
    production web sites unless you're exporting as CSS and Images, and
    even then, it will most likely require tweaking in a web page editor.

  • Error while using Image component to display a child flash file

    Hi
    I'm using Xcelsius version 4.5. I used the "Image Component" to import a child flash file(.swf) into the parent flash file.
    I gave the path "D:\246024\Loblaw\Dashboard Docs\New Folder\trend input.swf" in the general tab of the image component.
    After exporting the .xlf into a flash file , it works fine in the system in which i created it. If i open the same flash file in any other system the parent file opens but the child flash file imported through the image component is not displayed.
    Please help me out in solving this issue
    Thanks
    Anitha

    yes, you will face the same problem as its still looking for the path of the swf.
    you need to have the SWF on specific location which is accessable by the Parent SWF
    usually web page or something which is accessable for all.
    good luck

  • How do I use text to open two different flash files?

    Basically I want to use a flash file, which requires you to enter text and a button to click. If I typed in 'Movie 1' and clicked enter, it should take me to 'Animation 1.swf', if I typed in 'Animation 2' it should take me to 'Animation 2.swf'.
    I don't have the time to relearn flash completely even though I want to, I haven't used flash in about 3 years and really struggling to remember anything, hate being a novice
    Thank you so much

    Hi ,
    As Ned suggested you could use something like this -
    function startLoadingSwf()
    var mLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(<name of the swf which you are picking up from the text field - text_field.txt>);
    mLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onCompleteHandler);
    mLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onProgressHandler);
    mLoader.load(mRequest);
    function onCompleteHandler(loadEvent:Event)
            addChild(loadEvent.currentTarget.content);
    function onProgressHandler(mProgress:ProgressEvent)
    var percent:Number = mProgress.bytesLoaded/mProgress.bytesTotal;
    trace(percent);
    startLoadingSwf();
    Hope that helps!

  • How to use as3 in flash cs3 to add dynamic text from a text file into a flash file

    let me start out by saying today is my first day of scripting
    in flash.
    I have a text file text.txt
    it contains
    text1=hello world
    can someone please show me how to display this text in a
    flash file
    i have been searching for this for hours and there are
    solutions with flash mx and actionscript 2.0 but i would like to
    see how to do this in as3.
    just a simple frame that loads that file and displays it when
    you test run the program
    much apreciated
    RC

    I'm not up on AS3 yet, but many things are still similar. You
    need to use the LoadVars class to accomplish this, You can find
    information this in Flahs Help>Actionscript>Actionscript
    Language Reference>Actionscript classes.
    rem: the text.txt file and the text.fla file must be in the
    same directory.
    The code will look something like this:

  • We have developed a desktop application using Flash software and published the same for MAC environment. When we double click on the index.app file, the application is working perfectly in Mac 10.6.7 at our office. But if the same index.app file is double

    We have developed a desktop application using Flash software and published the same for MAC environment. When we double click on the index.app file, the application is working perfectly in Mac 10.6.7 at our office. But if the same index.app file is double clicked in Mac 10.6.7 at out clients location, its not opening. For your information the client is able to open this same application by double clicking on index.swf file. The main problem is that client is not able to open the application using index.app file at their office whereas we are able to do so at our office. Can anyone give some suggestions to sort this problem?

    The most common reason is different versions of Flash, or different versions of web browsers used.  Some users may elect to not have Flash installed at all because of the processor overhead of Flash.  If you are going to make an application for a client, check what operating system and browser versions they are using first.  Then determine if a stand alone application is required, or if they have the necessary plugins to run specific browser enhanced code.
    P.S. MAC is an acronym for Media Access Control.  Mac is the shorthand for Macintosh, the operating system and computers made by Apple Inc.
