Using Flash Learning Interactions in Captivate

Hi there,
I am developing a short practice quiz in Captivate, but for
one of the questions I want to use a Flash CS3 learning interaction
(the "Hot Spots" one). I get the Flash file built, import it into
Cpativate, and everything works.
Now for the big question - how do I get Captivate to track
the successful/unsuccessful action from this question in a quiz? I
want to present users with a results page at the end of the
practice quiz, but since this question is not built with a
Captivate question slide (like m/c, t/f, etc.), how can I track the
result and include it on the results slide at the end?

Hi J and welcome to our community
There is no way (back door or otherwise) that I'm aware of to
do this. Unless, of course, you mean to use Flash 8 and export the
Flash in a version 6 format.
Hopefully we will see Flash 8 files working just dandy in
Captivate version 2.

I am new in iLearning. I am developing contents and assessments for uploading to iLearning. Instead of using iLearning assessment builder, I have used Flash learning interaction (SCORM). I have created several test with Flash learning interaction but i don't know how to upload it to iLearning since it is not only a question bank but also a assessment for enroll. I think the concept in iLearning (question bank and assessment is separated) has slightly difference.
Does anyone can tell me how to do it? or anyone has experience for developing assessment using third-party tools?

You would use the SCORM or AICC import options for this, depending on what tracking method is used with the content.

Flash learning interaction - extension

Hellou everybody, please, i need Flash learning interactions wich is the extension for creating elearning apps and quizzes inside flash cs6 and older version as a part of eLearning Suite product. Because adobe stopped any suites, new flash cc have not this extension. Is there some way to download it?

Thanks for answer. I have licensed eLearning Suite 6 wich include Flash CS6 and learning interactions extension, but now i use Flash CC and i think will need not to install flash cs6 specially only because i need learning interactions.
The same problem about Dreamweaver and Course builder interactions...
Do you think will adobe release this small but usefull extensions?

Flash learning interactions, what am i doing wrong

Hi all
everytime after i modify and then save and publish a learning
interaction...... i get a standard error message and flash shuts
down. also none of the modifications i make save...... how do you
save the the modifcations made to a learning interaction ? one i am
in the component inspector and i make changes to the Learning
interaction...... where do i go to save it, there is nothing in the
component inspector and paramters that points to saving..... so i
have been saving the fla as normal... eg under file menu 'save
as'... i then test the movie and get nothing.
Can anyone help ?

The FLVPlayback class does not feature a setMedia() method,
that I can
see. According to the docs, FLVPlayback "wraps"
mx.video.VideoPlayer. Not
sure if that means "inherits," but assuming for sake of
argument that it
does, the VideoPlayer class does not faeture a setMedia()
method, either.
Unfortunately, the docs get a bit cryptic at this point, IMO.
The FLVPlayer
Component has a contentPath property, as you mentioned, but I
don't see the
same property in either of the aforementioned classes.
Perhaps something in the inheritance chain provides for a
FLVPlayback.setContent property. I see references to a
mx.video.NCManager
class, but can't seem to find that class reference anywhere.
If you can do without the FLVPlayer Component, you may just
want to use
a Video object to load your external FLV.

Using Flash 8 swfs in Captivate

Does anyone know of a backdoor method of making flash 8 swfs
work when imported into Captivate? We are then publishing the
Captivate movies and integrating them in a Flash 8 interface.

Can I then export what I've imported as an .flv file?

Um, perhaps I'm just being dense here, but did you actually
try? If not, why not? If so, did it not work? I guess you
may have tried and it failed, hence the reason for your post. But
if not, I'm totally astounded that one would simply ask if
something was possible before even trying. Why cheat yourself out
of the learning process?

Using the Glossary interaction in Captivate 6

I am trying to create a glossary that is available on all slides by adding it once and using the "rest of project" setting for the object timing. HOWEVER, for this object, the "Place object on top" is disabled. The result is on all slides (except the slide it is on), the glossary appears behind the current slide's objects. The "Place object on top" is needed so the glossary rises to the surface. How can I get action to occur? FYI, the glossary is not visible until a glossary button is clicked. Then I use Advanced Actions programming to make the glossary visible.

That is a known bug, already reported it. Hope it will be fixed soon.

Playback of flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server jerky.

Thanks for taking time to read this.
Here is our problem:
Playback of flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server jerky.
Playback ok if using Flash Player 10.0 with Flash Media Interactive Server.
1. Record live using Flash Media Interactive Server
2. Attempt to play back resulting flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server.
Video plays ok for a few seconds and then plays faster than as recorded -- very jerky.
Audio plays at normal rate.
OS: Windows 7 64bit (two different machines. All updates installed.)
Web browser: FireFox 3.6.10 and IE8 8.0.7600.16385
Flash version: 10.1.85.3
Tried with hardware acceleration on and off.
Note: Also had another person report the same thing on a Mac.
We had been using Flex 3, so we tried building with Flash Builder 4 – had the same problem.
This is a show stopper for us.
Tried using Wowza and everything worked.
We’re dropping FMIS and switching to Wowza.
If someone can suggest something else to try, we would appreciate it.

So if I understand correctly, your findings are:
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Flash Media Interactive Server = Jerky Video
Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Flash Media Interactive Server = Smooth Video
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Wowza = Smooth Video
And what about Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Wowza?
Also, if you could check the network traffic to confirm if it's Flash Player causing the issue or it is receiving it like that from FMIS.

Learning Interactions

I have recently received a copy of the Adobe eLearning suite, in particular I hope to use Flash for the majority of my elearning projects.
I have been having trouble using the learning interactions that come ready to use with Flash. For example, I placed the drag and drop interaction onto the stage area, but when pressing F12 to preview and use this feature it would not work (could not drag the movie objects), the same goes for all the other features I can select radio buttons etc but when pressing the 'cheack answer' button nothing happens.
Even though these interactions come with instructions which i have followed, it still does not seem to work. I do not wish for them to be scored, I just want the user to receive correct or incorrect feedback.
Has anyone used this before and have any idea what I am refering to? Am I suppose to add actionscript to this aswell (even though these interactions have been pre-setup)?
Would really appreciate any help!

Trouble with Learning Interactions and loadMovie

I have created some very simple quizzes using the learning
interactions components - specifically one of the quiz templates.
When testing the .swf on its own, everything works, including the
last page that tallies the number of right and wrong responses and
calculates a percentage based on those numbers.
However, when loading this .swf into another movie (@
_level1), the question pages work correctly, but the last page
returns all zeros for the right, wrong, and percentage values.
Any thoughts on where the problem might be?

That sure is a lot of code for a little quiz.
Without seeing the flash file, I can't be 100% sure, but it
looks like the following code is what you will have to adjust in
order for the counting function to work right according to you
introducting another movie clip in to the path.
on (release) {
_parent._parent.QuizTrack.setNewPage();
_parent.updateFrame();
gotoAndStop(2);
The "_parent._parent.QuizTrack.setNewPage();" may need to be
changed to reflect the movie clip instance name you inserted this
quiz into. Maybe something like
"_parent._parent.QuizTrack.setNewPage();"
Some references to "this" may have to change also. Again,
without seeing the actual flash file, I can only give certain
advise.

Component Learning Interactions

Anybody familiar to this component and want to help me
out?:-) I am trying to make an online quiz with this, but since I
am norwegian and working with flash 8 (yes, I a about to upgrade to
cs4 in the near future) and the norwegian alphabet has specific
characters...is it possible to change the languag in the component?

Hi Conrad!
As you have no doubt already realized, using the Learning
Interaction templates that are available in Flash MX / MX2004 and 8
will not work at all in Presenter content.
The coding methods conflict while playing back within the
Breeze environment and I
think it has to do with the _dropTarget property as part of
the interaction's codebase. The _dropTarget method is NOT supported
in Breeze, but the hitTest() method IS!
I have written a few drag and drop exercises that do work
within Breeze content, and you have to use the hitTest() method to
accomplish it.
As you already have discovered, the bottom line is that the
learning components were intended to be "stand alone" objects that
could be incorporated into a web page (or even a CD as these
objects are nothing more than swf files). Aside from the fact that
the prebuilt/preconfigured learning objects in flash don't always
work in Breeze, in my mind, the bigger question here is the ability
(or more accurately) the inability to connect these SCO's to an LMS
for tracking. As stand alone objects, they're actually pretty
handy...but not in Breeze.
I realize this doesn't help much with what you're trying to
do, but from my perspective, you're better off creating your own
drag n' drops.
I've got a bunch of examples to share if you'd like to take a

I am using the tab interaction in Captivate 7. I wanted to add seven tabs. But the interaction is allowing only five tabs. Can we increase this?

Hi All,
When I try to open my accordion interaction in iPad ios 6, I face the following issues. I created the accordion interaction using Captivate 7 version.
1. Audio is not playing
2. When opening one accordion, the already opened one doesn't close automatically. As a result, the accordion open one below the other and the third, fourth, and fifth accordion is not visible.
Is there a work around for the second issue. Please let me know
