Using Flash on a Mac and a Pc
Hello there at my current job i currently use a mac to
produce all of the Flash content for my company, when i finish the
Flash projects i then send them across to a pc to create an
installation package for pc users but everytime i do this i come
across a problem that is really annoying me. This problem is when i
use the mac to create flash projects everything seems lined up
perfectly for example if i create a rollover state for a button
when i rollover the over state it is perfectly lined up and looks
good but when i send the exact same file to a pc then play it the
rollover effects or certain parts of an animation dont seem lined
up correctly ie when i rollover the same button the over state
seems to jump. Has anyone got any suggestions as it is driving me
mad as i seem to be having to create the same thing twice any
suggestions would be grate thanks.
How is the flash drive formatted? Insert it and open Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities) to see how it's formatted. I've found that USB sticks can be extraordinarily slow, sometimes. Not sure why your copy would be seconds versus minutes on Windows and OS X respectively...

Do I need two separate licenses to be able to use Flash Builder on Mac and Windows?
Does my Creative Cloud subscription allow me to install Flash Builder on both Mac and Windows machines?
Hi,
I know it has been a while since you replied to me. I tried it at the time and sadly it didnt work and I got frustrated and ignored it for a while. I have just tried what you suggested again and this is how it went:
• I have connected both the AX and iMac via ethernet cables to the O2 box.
• This time my iMac did detect the AX and it automatically opened the AirPort Utility window.
• I followed your instructions on the setting and connected it to my existing network etc.
• It asked to restart the AX.
• After a long wait this message appear:
"Airport Utility was unable to find your Apple wireless device after restarting.
The settings for this Apple wireless device have been successfully updated, but there was a problem rejoining the wireless network or finding the Apple wireless device. You may need to select your network from the AirPort menu and try again."
I tried this and now when I click Rescan in the AirPort utility it just says that it cannot detect any devices. And in the meantime the AX is still flashing orange.
Do you think that the AX is faulty. Although it was functioning perfectly in my previous flat. I just don't understand how one minute the iMac detects it and the next it doesn't even though the settings have been supposable successfully updated. Very frustrating.
Thanks for your time,
Louca -
Best way to format my 16GB flash drive for Mac and PC transferring large power point files?
best way to format my 16GB flash drive for Mac and PC transferring large power point files?
format flash drive in Exfat for transferring files between Mac and Pc.
FORMAT TYPES
FAT32 (File Allocation Table)
Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
Maximum file size: 4GB.
Maximum volume size: 2TB
You can use this format if you share the drive between Mac OS X and Windows computers and have no files larger than 4GB.
NTFS (Windows NT File System)
Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
To Read/Write/Format NTFS from Mac OS X, here are some alternatives:
For Mac OS X 10.4 or later (32 or 64-bit), install Paragon (approx $20) (Best Choice for Lion)
Native NTFS support can be enabled in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is not advisable, due to instability.
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support NTFS
Maximum file size: 16 TB
Maximum volume size: 256TB
You can use this format if you routinely share a drive with multiple Windows systems.
HFS+ ((((MAC FORMAT)))) (Hierarchical File System, a.k.a. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Don't use case-sensitive)
Read/Write HFS+ from native Mac OS X
Required for Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! backups of Mac internal hard drive.
To Read HFS+ (but not Write) from Windows, Install HFSExplorer
Maximum file size: 8EiB
Maximum volume size: 8EiB
You can use this format if you only use the drive with Mac OS X, or use it for backups of your Mac OS X internal drive, or if you only share it with one Windows PC (with MacDrive installed on the PC)
EXFAT (FAT64)
Supported in Mac OS X only in 10.6.5 or later.
Not all Windows versions support exFAT.
exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table)
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support exFAT
Maximum file size: 16 EiB
Maximum volume size: 64 ZiB
You can use this format if it is supported by all computers with which you intend to share the drive. See "disadvantages" for details. -
Playback of flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server jerky.
Greetings:
Thanks for taking time to read this.
Here is our problem:
Playback of flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server jerky.
Playback ok if using Flash Player 10.0 with Flash Media Interactive Server.
1. Record live using Flash Media Interactive Server
2. Attempt to play back resulting flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server.
Video plays ok for a few seconds and then plays faster than as recorded -- very jerky.
Audio plays at normal rate.
OS: Windows 7 64bit (two different machines. All updates installed.)
Web browser: FireFox 3.6.10 and IE8 8.0.7600.16385
Flash version: 10.1.85.3
Tried with hardware acceleration on and off.
Note: Also had another person report the same thing on a Mac.
We had been using Flex 3, so we tried building with Flash Builder 4 – had the same problem.
This is a show stopper for us.
Tried using Wowza and everything worked.
We’re dropping FMIS and switching to Wowza.
If someone can suggest something else to try, we would appreciate it.Hi Greg,
So if I understand correctly, your findings are:
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Flash Media Interactive Server = Jerky Video
Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Flash Media Interactive Server = Smooth Video
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Wowza = Smooth Video
And what about Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Wowza?
Also, if you could check the network traffic to confirm if it's Flash Player causing the issue or it is receiving it like that from FMIS.
Cheers

I updated Adobe Flash on my Mac and now my solitaire app won't open. Message just says 'unable to open' -600. I tried to reinstall Full Deck Solitaire, but the app store says it is already installed, so I can't do it that way. What should I do? There's nothing in Help that helps.
Please restart the computer and try again. If it won't restart in the usual way, force a shutdown by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. Then press it again briefly to restart.

Using .otf files on Mac and PC?
I understand you can use the same .otf files both on Mac and PC.
1. Is this trouble free creating a document using these fonts on one platform and then opening the document on another platform and performing tasks with it... printing, creating PDF etc?
2. Is there any difference using Quarkxpress and Indesign with Opentype fonts?
3. If creating documents in Indesign and I need to convert these to Quarkxpress documents using a conversion plugin such as ID2Q is there any issues with these fonts.
Thanks in advance for any help.
TimSome answers:
1. I used OT fonts on Mac and PC and in InDesign and Quark with no font issues. They all showed up and worked in each program.
2. I can't remember what Quark was like in it's OT support (of ligatures, etc.), but it should be the same. You will notice differences in the kerning. Using ID's optical kerning or Quarks kerning tables the differences will be more pronounced, but either way expect some differences. Getting a handle on the differences can take some time.
3. Try to avoid moving between programs. If you can work all the way through in one, then you should. I have only ever moved files from Quark to InDesign, and it isn't pretty. Moving from ID to Quark sacrifices too much (no native psd files, no ai files) so I wouldn't think of it. -
I'm using Flash 14.0.0 and Shock 14.0.0179 with Firefox 32.0
I'm using Flash 14.0.0 and Shock 14.0.0179 with Firefox 32.0. I'm continually getting a 'Reload' or 'Submit Crash report' message. I cannot open a 'video' clip in Facebook at all. If I use IE as my browser...then I can do everything, with no issues. I have 'uninstalled' and 'reinstalled' both Flash and Shock a number of times. I have followed all the steps suggested to validate Flash and Shock, all Plugins are 'active'.
What more can I do to be able to use Firefox as my browser??Jeromie Clark:
I've tried what you suggested with 'rebooting' and 'restarting with add-ons disabled' but that did NOT resolve the issue. So Here is the data you requested:
1) OS = Windows 8.1 Pro (Surface)
2) Firefox = 32.0
3) IE = 11.0.9600.17239
4) Flash = 14.0.0
Explanation of Problem:

Was using Flash 8 on a PC now using Flash CS3 on MAC X and having problems
Hello,
I'm currently creating a photo gallery displaying thumbnails
of the original main image.
I was using Flash 8 on a PC and now am using that same file
on a MAC OS X using Flash CS3. And now the thumbnails are not
visible. The main image appears but the thumbnails do not.
The SWF created with Flash 8 viewed properly but when I
opened the fla in Flash CS3 the thumbnails stopped appearing and
I'm not sure what to do?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
ThanksWhoops, maybe I posted this in the wrong forum

Nano as a flash drive between Mac and windows
I intended to use the nano as a flash drive. I use Apple at home, but have to use windows at work. My other flash drives have no problem moving files between both. But when I connected the nano at work, Windows gave me some initialize message. Would that delete my data on nano? I just disconnected and wait for your help.
How can I use the nano as a flash drive between my mac and windows at work?Check what the iPod's format is; if the iPod nano is in Mac format, it can't be used on a PC which doesn't have third-party software such as MacDrive installed onto it. Initializing or restoring your iPod will erase everything on it.

How do I use icloud with one mac and two iphones
I have just got an iPhone 5.
My wife and I share a macbook pro
My wife has an iphone 4s and uses iCloud to sync photos etc.
I want to use iCloud too, so.....how do we use iCloud so:
- when we each take photos on our phones they sync to our mac
- our contacts sync (can we set preferences on our individual phones so we only get the contacts we want on our iPhones from a shared address book on the mac)
- we have individual calendars
Any advice much appreciated.
Thank you.If you want to share the same photo stream so both your photos sync to your mac via iCloud you'll have to share the same primary iCloud account. Set this up in Settings>iCloud on both phones using the same Apple ID, and in System Preferences>iCloud on your Mac; then turn photo Stream to On. If you want to also using iCloud to sync with your shared Address Book on your Mac, but keep your contacts separate, you'll have to create two contact groups in Address Book on your Mac - one for each of you - and drag copies of the appropriate contacts into each group. Then turn iCloud syncing for Contacts to on on all your devices. To view just your own contacts you'll have to open the Contacts app on each of your phones, tap Groups, then check only your own contact group to view. When you add contacts on either phone, you'll have to add these contacts to the appropriate groups in Address Book on your Mac as you can't manage contact groups on your phone.
If you want to maintain your own calendars, the easiest thing to do is not to syncing your calendar with iCloud. If you did, your calendars would be merged in iCal on your Mac and the merged calendar would appear on both phones.
The important thing to know is that when you share an iCloud account any data you sync with the account will be merged and appear on all devices sharing the account. This will happen with your contacts too, but since you already have a shared Address Book on your Mac, it will stay up to date as you change/add/delete contacts on your phones. And by using contact groups you can filter your view to just your own contacts. -
Can I use iTunes in my Mac and also on my virtual machine in Parallels?
I have iTunes in the Mac and am totally happy with it. However, my library allows downloading of books, and some of them are only available in wma format. I have Windows XP in Parallels 5, and was able to download a book successfully in Parallels, using the software provided by the library. However, when I put my iPod in to try to transfer the files to it, iTunes in the Mac kept opening, and the software in Windows said it couldn't find the iPod. I tried designating the USB port for Parallels, but that didn't help. My iPod happens to be formatted for PC, so I think that wouldn't be the problem. So, my only way to get this book out of Windows would be to burn it onto 30 CDs.
My question is, is it possible to do what I'm trying to do--if so, do I need to open an iTunes account in Windows, and would it have to be a different account, or is it not possible to have two accounts in the same computer? If it's not possible I'll just give up on this idea and stick with mp3 formatted books, but if it is possible, could someone tell me how to do it? Thanks for any help you can provide. BarbaraThanks, but please explain. I can't download wma files into Overdrive Media for the Mac, and had to install another version inside Parallels, and that's where the downloaded files are. How could I get those files into the Overdrive software on the Mac? Thanks, Barbara
