Using Flash Playlist in Dreamweaver

Hi, got overly ambitious late last night and tried to make a
video playlist based on Lisa Larson Kelley's tutorial
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_playlist.html.
I managed to get the tile list set up and functioning, but, the
video player doesn't seem to "see" the video files, just the
thumbnails in the tile list. The URL for the test page is at
http://www.vegascanine.com/VideoPlaylist.html.
I've been comparing my files to her tutorial files and I wonder if
there's something absurdly simple that I'm missing due to lack of
sleep! I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks so much!

Wrong doc type on page. Needs to be html or xhtml; not xml.

  • How to use Flash Skin in Dreamweaver 8

    Hi,
    I'd like to use a Flash Video Skin
    (SteelExternalPlaySeekMute) that came with Flash 8, in Dreamweave.
    I copied the skin file (SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf) into
    Dreamweaver's Configuration>Templates>Video_Control folder,
    but although I see the skin in Dreamweave's popup skin menu, I
    doesnt function correctly.
    I assume I need to be doing somethign with the .fla file
    (SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.fla), but I cant figure out where to put
    that in Dreamweaver.
    Any suggestions on how to get my video to work with this skin
    would be appreciated.
    thank you....

    bump...
    would really appreciate it if someone could help me out
    here....
    thank you.

  • Can I use Flash 5? Dreamweaver 4?

    Not sure where else to post this:
    I recently got an Intel-based iMac and I'm digging it. My G4 Quicksilver finally died.
    My question is this: I used Dreamweaver 4 and Flash 5 on my G4 to create web stuff. But now when I try to install them on the iMac it says they "aren't supported on this system." And Adobe says they aren't eligible for upgrade (too old). Does this mean that my programs are COMPLETELY useless?? There's no way to use them or upgrade them at ALL? Someone familiar with these products might know the answers or a solution!
    Thanks!
    iMac Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    OS9 applications are capable of running under OSX only on PPC machines.
    Get the trial versions for the newest versions of Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc at the adobe downloads center, and experience what your new Intel based machine is capable of!
    hope this helps!
    p.s. congrats on the new iMac!

  • Using flash template in dreamweaver

    Hi,
    I am new to dream weaver. JUST NEED A QUICK HINT.
    I used a flash template which was available free online to
    make my own website - I am using dreamweaver to publish my website
    using the flash template i just finished filling out - used a layer
    in dream weaver and put .swf file in it (the main file)
    I also uploaded the dependent files on web.
    When I preview my page in browser it plays the main file
    correctly but does not automatically access other files
    Problem:
    when I play the main 24.swf file in flash - it automatically
    accesses different dependent files and plays the files as I want it
    to - also plays different page files - but the same file when put
    in dreamweaver only plays the intro and then stops and does not
    play different page files.
    Actual files:
    24.swf - is the main page file - when I play this in flash -
    it plays intro, contact tab (when clicked), my projects (when
    clicked), work experience (when clicked), everything.
    I edited different page files my projects (24.1), contact tab
    (24.2), work experience (24.3) individually using their .fla files
    but still when I update information in this files and save them the
    24.swf file automatically picks up the update BUT when I use the
    same file in dream weaver for publishing my website, it only goes
    till the intro and then stops and shows no view for those 24.1 24.2
    24.3 files.
    24.fla plays the intro but 24.swf plays everything, I didnt
    know it would take me so much time to do a simple upload like this.
    I have been working on this problem since last 3 days and
    night but need some help now, I got to finish this up by tomorrow
    night.
    Please help me, I am going crazy because I am a second away
    from the whole website but it doesnt show anything right now.
    Please please help.
    If my explanation doesnt sound clear, please for god sake let
    me know.
    thank you very much

  • Using Flash 8 with Dreamweaver 8

    Hi guys and gals, I am in a unfomfortable situation now. I
    have awsome ideas of how I would like to implement my creative
    talents in building awsome websites but I cannot seem to transfer
    over what ever graphics, text, buttons to Dreamweaver. I'm creating
    .swf files but when I try to open up any item created from Flash it
    gets all weird. I cannot seem to save those graphics and such to
    html so I keep getting like a grey box with the flash logo.
    Now, moving items from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is fine but
    moving items from Flash to Dreamweaver is a pain in the arse.
    Also, I TOTALLY understand that Dreamweaver is a awsome
    formating tool but I don't know about you guys but I feel that I
    feel so restrained by using these templates. I understand that
    websites need to have structure but what if you want to make
    different structures for certain pages on your sight?
    Yes using CSS is very customizable but MUST you have
    templates to put any type of graphic on a Dreamweaver design view?
    All I want to achieve is making simple graphics with Flash,
    Edit those graphics with Fireworks and drop them into Dreamweaver.
    That's ALL I want to do but I'm having such a hard time doing this.
    I'm beginning to feel completely retarded or something but
    I'm just not getting it. I've bought every dog gone book and CD on
    the market but I'm just not getting this concept.
    But then again, I am a beginner so slap me twice, lol.
    Please for all you veterans out their, explain to me like I'm
    a 12 year old. What am I doing wrong?
    Also, I'm trying to build a simple mock up of a simple web
    page with like 5 navigational pages. I want to have buttons,
    graphics, text, sound and video just to include what most websites
    have just so I can get a understanding of how to put together a web
    page.
    Do you guys have suggestions on this idea?
    Thank you once again and god bless.

    >feel so restrained by using these templates
    what templates? Halo? Don't.
    > need to have structure but what if you want to make
    different structures
    > for certain pages on your sight
    No problem (see below)
    >moving items from Flash to Dreamweaver is a pain in the
    arse.
    Don't move - import them
    >drop them into Dreamweaver
    see above
    >I've bought every dog gone book and CD on the market
    All the books in the world on Dreamweaver cannot replace
    books/tutorials on
    HTML and CSS before you get to the hair-tearing stage (oops!
    too late!)
    > Please for all you veterans out their, explain to me
    like I'm a 12 year
    > old. What am I doing wrong?
    Not a veteran (well, not in experience lol!) - what you're
    doing wrong is
    going about using Dreamweaver like you would Word or as if
    it's WYSIWYG -
    it's not.
    Have a look at this
    http://www.w3schools.com/ on
    the left, learn X/HTML and Learn CSS.
    There *are* good, ready-made templates available if you want
    to go down this
    road, but without a grounding in HTML and CSS, you will
    continue to wonder
    if it's all worth it (o:

    and others. Good luck!

  • Use Flash in .lbi files

    When I try to drag an Flash object from the Assets Window into a Library Item (.lbi file), I get an error that says I can't use Flash in a Dreamweaver Library Item. But when I cut and paste the HTML code for the Flash animation into the Library Item in Code View, I don't get the error, and everything seems to work fine. What's the deal? I really need to be able to use Flash in Library Items. Thanks for your help...

    Sorry. I don't use Library Items.  Never have, never will.

    If I need to paste a single code fragment into my web pages, I often use my Snippets folder for this.  Frequently used code fragments go into the snippets folder for quick insertion into web pages (in code view, of course).
    For repeating site elements that could change from time to time, I use Server-Side Includes (SSI). Edit one file, upload to server. Done.

  • Using Flash with Frames?

    Is there a trick to using frames with flash? The frames page
    looks like:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Home Site</title>
    </head>
    <frameset rows="78,280,*" FRAMEBORDER=0 BORDER=0
    FRAMESPACING=0>
    <frame src="header.html" name="header" scrolling="no"
    noresize>
    <frame src="flash.html" name="flash" scrolling="no"
    noresize target="mainFrame">
    <frame src="frameindex.html" name="mainFrame">
    <noframes>
    <body>
    <p>This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't
    support them.</p>
    </body>
    </noframes>
    </frameset>
    </html>
    header.html does not have any flash. Just has the home and
    contact buttons for the top.
    flash.html is just an html page that holds the flash
    navigation.
    mainFrame is where the new pages should display with index of
    course being the first page.
    In flash, the button has the following:
    onClipEvent (load) {
    num = 1;
    on (rollOver) {
    if (_root.link<>num) {
    this.gotoAndPlay("s1");
    on (releaseOutside, rollOut) {
    if (_root.link<>num) {
    this.gotoAndPlay("s2");
    on (release) {
    if (_root.link<>num) {
    _parent["but"+_root.link].gotoAndPlay("s2");
    _root.link = num;
    getURL("details.html", "mainFrame");
    When I press the button, it opens details.html in a new page
    without the frames. I would like it to open details.html in the
    mainFrame frame. Is there a trick that I do not know? Thank you so
    much!

    The standard reply is -
    1. Why are you using frames since there are many compelling
    reasons not to?
    2. Why are you using Flash navigation since there are many
    compelling
    reasons not to?
    Most people here don't work with (assiduously avoid) both of
    those critters,
    so, you may have trouble getting a more explicit response!

  • Problem Using Flash FLV Video Via Dreamweaver CS3

    I have been unable to get my FLV video to play on my website.
    I seem to have two problems:
    1) I want the FLV file to be hosted in a different domain to
    the website itself (for bandwidth reasons) and it doesn't want to
    do that!
    2) I would prefer to use Flash skins rather than Dreamweaver
    skins as I want to offer a full-screen option but I cannot get them
    to work!
    If I host the FLV file on the website domain, the video plays
    ok. If I change the file location in the Properties of the movie to
    become the FLV located on the other domain (using full path
    http://<etc>flv) then nothing
    displays on that part of the page. Firebug tells me it has loaded
    the AC_RunActiveContent.js and FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf but it
    makes no mention of the skin file or the flv file itself ... it is
    as if it just simply has not bothered with it! I suspect I am
    missing something obvious but cannot find it. All help would be
    appreciated. By the way, I have loaded up a crossdomain.xml file to
    the root of the domain that hosts the flv file but that didn't seem
    to make any difference!
    The second challenge is that ideally I would like to use a
    Flash skin so that I can have a full-screen option and so that I
    can have the menu bar under the video itself. However, I can't even
    get that option to work when I host the whole lot on the normal
    webserver! I am suspecting that it might be something that might
    suddenly start working when I fix problem 1. However, if anybody
    has any links to a page that provides simple instructions about how
    to do this task I would greatly appreciate it!
    Many thanks for your help!

    1) Why not post your video to YouTube or Google Video and
    then embed the
    code they provide into your website. This way their servers
    carry the
    bandwidth for you and the scripted embed code will work on
    your site.
    2) If Video sharing isn't an option, and you need more
    bandwidth, you can
    get domain hosting for as little as $4.95 - 6.95/month at
    Bluehost,
    Lunarpages or Web Hosting Pad.

  • Using Flash in Dreamweaver

    I've created flash slideshows using Flash Slideshow Maker. I
    then created a simple flash file that has 3 buttons. The action on
    these buttons is On (release) { loadMovie ("drawings.swf",
    ss_frame);} Where drawing.swf is the name of one of the slideshows
    and ss_frame is an empty movie clip. The swf I created works fine
    until I load it into dreamweaver. The rollover works on the buttons
    so I know it's not totally not working. But when I click on the
    button to load the slideshow - nothing it just sits there.
    Any ideas???
    Thanks

  • How to import html5 animation (created/published using flash) into a web page using Dreamweaver.

    I have created an animation in Flash and published it as a html5 animation.
    How do I get this into an exisitng web page using Dreamweaver?

    Hi Nancy,
    I am using Flash CC2014 which publishing as html.
    (When I publish as html with edge animate you can create an oam file which allow the inserting of the resulktant animation into a web page)
    The files produced with Flash CC 2014 are: html try.html and html.try
    I was hoping I could use some way to just insert the html animation produced by Flash.

  • Flash buttons in dreamweaver 8

    Hi,
    i am having a problem with inserting flash button in
    dreamweaver 8, when i insert the buttons it appears on the page as
    a grey box with "F"(flash) and not displaying the proper text. The
    user is a standard windows users and has not administrator
    privilidges. but if an administrator loggs into the pc and does the
    exact same process then the flash button work.
    has anyone come across this problem ? does anyone know how to
    resolve
    cheers
    david

    You'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's.  Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking.  If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
    Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons.

  • Link Custom Flash Buttons in Dreamweaver?

    Hello,
    I created an animated button in flash and tried to link it up
    in Dreamweaver with no success. I don’t understand why I can
    use generic animated buttons that DW offers and have a link for
    them but, when I create my own DW doesn’t offer a link. All
    I’m trying to do is link to a different page on my site. I
    tried to use “getURL” in the action script in flash and
    got that to work but, I really didn’t want to open a new

    If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
    not be spidered
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
    a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
    In addition, you cannot add a link to a Flash element using
    HTML. That link
    must be added in the Flash itself.

  • Flash Buttons in Dreamweaver CS3

    I'm trying to place some flash buttons on my Dreamweaver site
    and when I insert a flash button, all I get on my page is a Flash
    icon. What do I need to do to get my buttons to show up? I would
    appreciate any help you can give. Thank You.

  • Using Flash in DW extension - Security Settings

    I have a Flash SWF in my Dreamweaver extension, and I pass values between the SWF and DW using the DW API.
    However, to get it to work locally, I need to add the SWF file as a security exception, which is quite inconvenient to potential end-users.
    Is there a way to use Flash in my extension without requiring the end-user to update their security exceptions (or that provides an easy way to do so)?
    Thanks!

    Does anyone have any idea how this is done? The start page
    for Dreamweaver is also a Flash SWF file called welcome.swf, that
    in turn invokes various dw API calls. Trouble is, I have no idea
    what command they are using MMExecute, getURL, fscommand?
