Using Garageband 2.0.2 Tracks with Garageband '08

Basically I'm running Garageband 2.0.2 and my friend is using the newest version Garageband '08
I would like to be able to insert my drum tracks into a project on his computer with his Garageband. I know I can just insert the audio (I can can't I?) but I was hoping to be able to use the tracks interchangebly
I'm quite new to this program but I love it more and more as I use it
Thanks in advance

Are you using Flex Builder 3? Flex 3.0 beta Data
visualization components are available as part of FB 3 only. You
can select either 2.0.1 hotfix 3 charts (consists of only
charts.swc) or 3.0.0 data visualization (consists of
datavisualization.swc). through multiple sdks feature of FB3. For
flex 3 beta, flex 2 charting key will work. so if you want to try
out new features in charts and new components like Advanced data
grid you can switch to 3.0.0 sdk and use same flex 2 charting key
to remove watermark from charts.

I am using iMac OS 10.7.2 with Garageband'11 6.0.4. I can't record sound from  mixer Behringer X1622USB using USB out. when I connect the mixer to iMac via USB  appears USB Audio CODEC on Sound and Preferences but I can't get no sound from mixer to iMac only sound from iMac to mixer. I only can record sound using microphone line in. Please help.

    Eric,
Thanks for your reply. Realtek audio works only in playback. There is a stereo mix in the mixer but the recording controls are not operable with no sliders in the mixer for any recording option. Slider controls appear to be grayed out. Can't figure out how to enable them. Downloaded newest drivers to no avail.
The M Audio control panel has no apparent option for recording stereo mix. Adobe ignores the sound from the DVD or CD and shows flatline.
I'm trying to record the sound from the DVD not rip the track.
When I go to Audio Driver Setup and select Audition 3.0 windows sound, there is no input device installed.
I'm thinking of going back to a decent internal Soundblaster card like I have on my 8 year old machine I am replacing.

  • Is there any way to use a aunetreceive for a track within GarageBand?

Is there any way to use a aunetreceive for a track within GarageBand?
I have an application, Soundboard, which sends audio via the aunetsend plugin. I'd like to manage the output of this application within Garageband as a track. Is there any possible way to do this?
    Thanks

    Alas, no, not in VBA.

  • Problems using M Audio Fast Track with Garageband

According to the blurb, the M Audio Fast Track (USB) 'is class compliant in Mac OSX offering true plug-and-play operation. Just plug in, and you're ready to start recording'. This is why I bought it, but I am experiencing no end of problems actually getting it to register with Garageband '08.
The problems are (a) I cannot hear any sound coming 'through' the Fast Track and Garageband (b) I can hear the guitar if I plug the headphones into the Fast Track, but nothing is recorded in Garageband (c) my mic, which is plugged into the line socket intended for guitars because I don't have the larger connection, reports no sound at all.
Any ideas, or tips to how others have managed to set up this 'plug-and-play' device would be greatly welcomed.

Did you ever get this to work? I just today bought a Fast Track Pro. I have it hooked to my MBP via USB. I can see in control Panel two inputs:
M-Audio Fast Track Pro UDB: Line Input
M-Audio Fast Track Pro UDB: S/PDIF
Problem is, there is no sound registering on the Input Level on either choose.
I have the Power On and have tried both Input 1 & 2, bith in stereo and mono mode.
(Just to be clear, I connect the electric guitar directly to the Fast track pro, correct?)
I have read the owners manual but it is worthless. I thought this would be easy to set up.
Also note that GarageBand preferences the Audio Output and Input are selected to Fast Track Pro.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Just bought an M-audio M-track.
I'm having some issues getting it to work with GarageBand.
When I create a track and choose the m-track input the microphone icon on the right col under the track settings is fixed and does not allow any adjustment. Not what I was expecting.
Any good tutorials online for this?
    Comments and suggestions appreciated.

  • How to use old "Apple Loops for Soundtrack" with Garageband

Since Soundtrack (was part of FinalCut Express HD) doesn't work anymore (since some ProKit framework update) and was not part of the FinalCut Express 4 upgrade I used Garageband for sound creation and editing. But I missed some good loops from the old Soundtrack.
The Apple Loops for Soundtrack were still sitting on my harddisk but Garageband didn't recognize them in the Loop-Browser. Looking at the structure I found the Search Index files (/Library/Audio/Apple Loop Index/). I have two there, one for Garageband and another for iLife Sound Effects. Both are interpreted by Garageband. But no third for the old Soundtrack Loops. So I had a look at the Sound Loops installer DVD from FinalCut HD and there I found a similar structur and copied the Index file to the location of the two indexes mentioned above. I left the Loops for Soundtrack where they are (also could edit the index file for new locations, but that's a 7.5MB text file) and now Garageband knows their location and also lists the loops at the right categories inside the Loop-Browser.
Maybe that helps someone, even if I didn't find a topic about it here.

Ah.. ok, then never mind. Just didn't find any information about how to use the old soundtrack loops with garageband and so I did some thinking on my own. And if it works that easy, the better it is

  • I use i-tunes for backing tracks with an acoustic band...how can I get a playlist to play one song at a time and not go to the next one until I manually select it?

I use i-tunes for backing tracks. How can I set up a play list to play only one song at a time and not go to the next one until I manually select it?
    Thanks

Uncheck all the songs in the playlist. iTunes will then play one song and stop.

  • Can I Merge Tracks with Garageband?

    Hello there,
Mostly I like to use Reason when it comes to recording and mixing tracks but since buying the new Aluminum Macbook, which incorporates a music software package of its own, I thought I'd try a different approach. My problem, however, is that I cannot find a way of merging two tracks. Say for example I've placed a small drum loop in track one. I select it from the audition area and place it in the track area. Then, in order to configure the drum track further, and in order that I can mess around with it more, I place the same drum loop in track two: only this time, I edit it and shorten it down so that only a few beats are pronounced. At this point I would usually merge the tracks, thus making both track two and track one into a single track. But I do not know how to do this in Garageband. Can anyone tell me whether this is at all possible?

With reason I would record one track and one overdub. Then I would merge both tracks. When I use Garageband, the option to join track one with track two does not exist. I take it you are able to have a drum loop in track one, a drum loop in track two, and are able to combine both in a single instant. I merely highlight the regions as I would highlight text in a document. Is there a more serious issue with my copy of Garageband. It did come complimentary with my Macbook, as it does with every other Macbook.

  • Help using a Roland Edirol R-09 with Garageband (kinda bootleg)

Being a career musician, I'm pretty low on funds and I was trying to figure out a cheap way to record music. I used to do this on my old computer (which was a PC) and I never had any problems, and I was wondering if anyone stumbled across anything similar:
I have an Edirol R-09, which is not an A/D converter or an audio interface - its primary use is for recording and storing - i.e. it has two stereo mics built into it and an SD card inside, so I can, for example, record my band's show and later connect it to my computer and it acts as a hard drive. I simply take the files from the SD storage, put them on my computer, and do any audio effecting (EQ, levels, etc) after. However, I got this bright idea which I tried on my old computer:
I wanted to start multi-tracking while recording my own songs (i.e. record drums, then bass, guitar, etc in a program such as ProTools). On my old PC, I had Cool Edit Pro, and I simply connected an 1/8" stereo cable from the headphone jack on my Edirol into the 1/8" stereo input on my computer, and used it as a sort of bootleg A/D converter. It all worked fine, besides being slightly inconvenient. Through Cool Edit, I was simply using my Edirol as a microphone, and then I could multitrack, do bass, vocals, whatever else I needed.
However, now that I got a Mac and am using Garageband, I'm coming across an extremely irritating problem that I just can't figure out how to fix. I'm connecting everything EXACTLY the same as I used to, but now as soon as I have the cable plugged into my Edirol and power it up, the input signal is plagued with static. You can still hear whatever I record, but there's this relatively loud static underneath everything (and it's ONLY int he tracks I use the Edirol with). I've tried different settings and connections, and I only get the static when the Edirol is powered on and connected to the System Input on my Mac.
Has anyone else tried anything like this with different results? I would usually think it's a problem with my Edirol, but I tested it on my stereo, my other computer (PC), and even a guitar amp and the static only seems to appear in Garageband.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

I generally reserve the R-09 for live recording and dumping it into GB for mixing.
Do you have the same problem when using other programs (Logic, ProTools, Audacity, etc.)? If so, depending on youyr budget, perhaps you might want to invest in an inexpensive USB Microphone. They can easily be found for less ta $100. I have a Samson and the quality is outstanding.
Strangely enough, I have found the built in Mic on he Mac to be pretty decent as well.

  • Do I really HAVE to use a wired headset to record with Garageband? Is it 2015?

I'm trying to record on my iPad with Garage band, using a Bluetooth headset.
As many of you already know, there is quite enough being plugged in, balanced on laps, or set on tables while
recording on an iPad. I have a perfectly good bluetooth headset to relieve some of the stresses of recording on
a mobile interface, however it just isn't supported by this app? The app is very well aware of this, so it was not
overlooked, and I certainly paid money for the app (and the ipad), so why am I limited?
Not only would it be nice to hear a legit answer, or even possibly some feedback on how I can bypass this,
but it would also be great if you would just go ahead and update garageband to support bluetooth headsets.

After re-reading the prompt, I see that there may be some kind of delay, but honestly that would just require me to move the track to fit, it's not that big of a deal.

  • How to use TH1 Custom Guitar Effect Suite with Garageband?

I'm a newbie at home recording so bear with me.
I just downloaded the TH1 Triode VST demo but can't figure out how to make it work with my Garageband software?
    Any suggestions where to start?
Should I have downloaded the Stand alone version instead?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers!

    Bingo! That was the trick!
    Now, second question.
If I want to buy the full version, do I purchase the the TH1 Triode AU version or would I need the TH1 1.1.4 AU Mac version? It says the TH1 1.1.4 AU is Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard compatible. But I'm on the 10.5.8 system. I guess my question is whether the TH1 1.1.4 is the latest version that works with 10.5.8 or is it only compatible with 10.6 or later? And by "Triode" do they mean "Try" ? LOL!!!
I know it sounds dumb but I really haven't got a clue which one to go for on my system.

  • Tracking with GarageBand

Hello everyone! I'm going to order a MacBook next month for the following reasons: 1. I hate Windows and need to get off of it.
    2. I want to use it for mobile recording.
My main recording at this point would be perhaps 5 tracks at once. Most of what I read in regard to GB seems to center on loop based and virtual instrument type stuff. I'm looking to do real live music sessions here (2 acoustic guitars, vocals, perhaps some keyboard). Is GB capable of this? Thanks.
    Joe

    Yes it is,
Just get yourself a recording interface, depending on how many mics you want to use for the live sessions, http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/FAQPages/Interfaces.html

The new M-Audio Oxygen keyboard with 'DirectLink Mode' is the only keyboard on the market that has general control over GB. A better option is to buy the Korg NanoKontrol and download the plugin from the Korg website which has quite a decent amount of control... more than the Oxygen series. There is probably room to velcro it to the top of your XP-50.

  • Can anyone tell me how to use the loops and backing tracks with a single guitar input? I can't seem to figure out how to set this up

I am trying to configure Mainstage to input my own guitar and add a backing track from the library or a loop but, I can figure out how to open or add the tracks I've downloaded. Any help would be great

did you try the PlayBack preset/template?
once you open the PlayBack plug-in you just load the tracks from the plug-in's menu.
