Using gate turnoff thyristor in multisim

Hi, i'm new to multisim. Im doing a project in which i need a to place a gate turnoff thyristor. But i dont know any product no. So please help me locate in the multisim library!

Are you looking for a specific component? What's your Multisim version/edition (you can find this in the File>>About Multisim menu). In the Master Database, Diodes Group you can find a numbers of SCRs, DIACs, TRIACs.

Counter output 2V when using gate and source at the same time..

I'm using NI TIO-6601.
I connected output of counter_0 to pfi 34 and pfi27 on hardware(CB-68LP).
pfi 34 is used for gate to counter_1 and counter_2.
With this gate, counter_1 and counter_2 generate pulse trains when the gate is in high state.
pfi 27 is used for source to counter_3.
With this source, I'm trying to let counter_3 count event on counter_0.
However, after this connection, the voltage from counter_0 is about 2V measured by Oscilloscope.
Also, counter_3 cannot count the event on counter_0.
Is there any problem on my connection ? or any tips for solving this problem??

p.s. It works when only two counters are working.
for example, when counter_0 generates pulse tra
in and output is connected to pfi_27, then counter_3 can count the event on counter_0.

Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
This issue may be related to amount of current the output of counter 0 can produce. You may want to try a different method for making these connections. Try routing your counter 0 output on to RTSI line 1. Then use RTSI1 as the gate for counters 1 and 2 and the source for counter 3. This way, you will not need to use two seperate PFI connections.
If you are using Trad. DAQ and LabVIEW you will need to use the Route Signal.vi. If you are using DAQmx, you will need to use the Export Signal.vi

Using the NI6551 Instrument in Multisim

I would like to use the Digital Waveform Generator. I have Student Version 11.0. I followed the below instructions.
Close NI Multisim if open.
Open the attached 5926_waveform_gen.zip file.
Select My Computer.
Browse to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite 10.1\lvinstruments.
Save the NI655XGenerator.llb file from the zip file to this folder.
I don't have the same toolbar listed in this doc..

Daq counter using gate input

In our lab, we have a DAQ 6259 card. previously someone made a c++ programme. Now , i want to use labview to counter . but even i use the example(count digital edge), i cannot get the counts . So i tred it on test panels. only if the edge source is gate input(PFI9), it works. I am wondering what is the problem. could you give me some suggestion?

hi, yao yong, you should read about the configuration you are choosing, the only situation i have seen about using a gate terminal as a input pin is when you signal is too slow and you're measuring frequency, you should try what Kwok How says about try counter input 0 or try daq assistant.vi
Kwok How, i want to ask you or someone else if edge count or frequency measurement recognize every edge ( like noise-generated edges ) or just edges between 0 and 5 volts

IPad "misbehaves" when used with a MultiSIM - picks up/rejects phone calls

iPad 3G misbehaves when used e.g. with a MultiSIM card of T-Mobile Germany.
It is said to pick up phone calls and actively rejects them. Thus the "Main" Mobile Phone (e.g. the iPhone) will ring ONCE then the iPad will pick up and reject the call. (On T-Mobile Network, one cannot disallow phone calls for a specific MultiSIM, all Phones of the same number will ring simultaneously).
This is a really serious and embarassing bug, please fix it with next OS version.

No! this is a "bug", because the ipad is connecting via the sim-card in an incorrect way. From day one on Apple always is pressing the fact that the iPad is a "data"-device ONLY and NOT a "phone"-device.
There is no intention of Apple to make the ipad do anything else as "connecting to the internet". That's why there is no textmessage app, no voicemail, no phonestuff on the the ipad. That's perfectly ok! But considering this the iPad misbehaves when connecting to a gprs/umts network because it is connecting showing itself as a PHONE AND DataDevice instead of DATA-ONLY.
THAT IS WRONG, because this automatically triggers the telcom provider to sent voice and messaging connections to this device.
Proof: On a jailbroken iPad it is possible to simply switch the device to the correct CGCLASS="CP" setting. With this setting the iPad only connects as a datadevice (e.g. like a usb-umts-stick) and doesn't answer any incoming non-data-connections.
BUT: I don't want a jailbreak! If want a correct working iPad.
And last but not least: the multi-sim-option (meaning more simcards under the same number) is totaly legitimate and is part of the usagespecs for telecom-networks. It is working perfectly well if (yeah, IF) every device connecting to the network identifies itself correctly with its capabilities.
If a device identifies itself as a phone and it actually isn't, then this device has a serious bug and is not correctly configured to be used in a mixed telcom network. Just because "normaly" everybody uses only one simcard, it is no reason NOT to stick to specs.
This is just sloppy work when porting the iPhone OS to the iPad. Simply forgotten! No big deal, but fix it, because Apple is "killing" a whole generation of german t-mobile users (all iphone contracts older than ~12 months can use their dataplan with free multisimcards from t-mobile on different devices!).

IIs there any way of loading in a MM54C221J component into multisim with out having to use the component wizard?

Im trying to use a MM54C221J multivibrator in multisim, but it's not in the library.
Does anyone know if I can get hold of one with having to use the component wizard?

There are several sources for components that aren't native to multisim.
You can directly contact the manufacturer of the component should they have the multisim model available.
You can also search the web incase another user has created the component.
I have searched for the MM54C221J and have not found one available online.
If you are having trouble using the Component Wizard here is a useful link that breaks down each of the steps.
To create a component you will need a spice model of the component which you should be able to acquire from the manufacture.

Apex PA50 SPICE Model used in Multisim

Below I have pasted the SPICE code from Apex for their PA50 power amp. I tried using the component wizard in Multisim but when I run the simulation I get the following errors:

What is a good gate to use for vocals? Help!

I'm still relatively new to Logic... I'd love some advice from those more experienced...
What is the best way to eliminate background noise from the spaces between words on a vocal part? I experimented with some of the gate options, but I ended up just making the vocal part really quiet (and even then if I turned up my headphone amp, I could still hear the hisses and foot shuffles of the singer, in between the sung words)...
Does anyone have some advice on (a) which gate in Logic I should use, and (b) some good settings to try to get a cleaned-up vocal take that has silence in between the words, without sounding too quiet or too un-natural?
If anyone can point me to some useful info on this or make suggestions, I'd be very grateful!

I'm probably in a minority, but I don't like using gates on vocals. I'd much rather take the time and manually clean up vocal tracks in the sample editor, taking out noises, pops, background noises, reducing breath sounds, changing gain etc. Although it takes much longer of course, I prefer the results which sound much better and more natural to me. With a bit of practice, you can zip through tracks quite quickly.

Combination lock design on multisim Help

Hello everyone i have started designing a 3 Combination lock on multisim using a series of D flip flops and gates. Im supposed to use a 2 position switch and and enter key to show it open and a reset key to reset the combinations. I currently ran into an issue of how i could use a yellow probe to stay on as long as the code is still currently being entered, for instance 2 correct combinations have been entered the last one hasn't. The next is how to make it so that when a wrong key is pressed in sequence with say 2 correct ones that it sendsasignal to the red probe meaning wrong code. i currently have it displaying a green probe when the correct keys are pressed but when there not the red probe or yellow probe just stays illuminated. Any input would help this is currently what i have designed "combinationlock"

Design project: Using gates, design a digital combination lock to open a safe using 3 bits for the combination only one combination of bits should open the safe while rejecting all others. Use an Enter key, a 2 position switch and a reset key to control the process. The lock generates an unlock signal when the complete key matches the internal conbination. An Error light is illuminated if the key does not match the combination. Type Up a report explaining your process including your circuit using multisim. The Circuit should work on multisim. Use 2 LEDS to show when the safe will open and when it will not

The lock isn't meant to deter theft, it just adds a minor level of security to keep people from easily browsing your address records or switching songs/playlists without your permission. I can see using it if you hook your iPod up to speakers so others can listen (people you trust not to walk off with it), but you don't want them to fiddle with it.

I'm writing first time to this forum. I apologize in advance because of my poor English, but I hope you will understand what I would like to ask:
I’m new in LW. I have built few simple applications but I have problems with this one. I have LW 8.0 Full Development and NI-USB-6251 and SCC-68.
I need to build a system which run on AC line voltage, 50 Hz. The load must be supply according the following demand:
Load is supply for 5 sec in the following procedure:
12x (10 ms ON – 30 ms OFF) - number of cycles (loops) could vary
24x (10 ms ON – 50 ms OFF) - number of cycles (loops) could vary
39x (10 ms ON – 70 ms OFF) - number of cycles (loops) could vary
On picture 1 is shown the current trough load (just first three cycles).
To make it easier I will use the Thyristor for supply the load – as shown in schematics (picture 2).
With LW I plan to find zero cross and according to this I will trigger the gate of thyristor. Because of that design I will have ~ 5 ms reserve for triggering (I can trigger ~2.5 ms before positive zero cross (predicted-calculated) and wait 2.5 ms after zero cross (predicted-calculated). By my opinion this should be enough because I do not have real time operating system. I thing that one zero cross reading should be enough for next 5 s of operations (line frequency is very stable) I build VI for testing the zero cross – that works fine but I have problems because the times vary, and I do not manage to predict the second zero cross with +-2.5 ms accuracy.
I’m afraid that this is not the right way – could you suggest me how to do that.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do, but let’s see what we can figure out. It sounds like you're trying to control the current throughput to your load using a thyristor and control the thyristor with the USB-6251.
It sounds like you want to turn the thyristor on for the specified pattern:
"12x (10 ms ON – 30 ms OFF) - number of cycles (loops) could vary
24x (10 ms ON – 50 ms OFF) - number of cycles (loops) could vary
39x (10 ms ON – 70 ms OFF) - number of cycles (loops) could vary"
What signal are you using to control the thyristor? Are you using a digital line or something else?
Also, I'm unsure what you're "predicting-calculating" are you saying that you're trying to predict when you need to trigger the thyristor in order to turn it on for the 10 ms intervals mentioned above or are you referring to something else? If you're trying to do that then I would recommend using a correlated digital output to output the desired waveform with hardware timing. As you've mentioned, a Windows operating system does not use deterministic timing. While allowing 2.5 ms for this trigger to occur is a good idea, Windows may take longer or shorter depending on what else is doing. That is likely the time variation that you're seeing.
If you can define your desired input and output signals a little more it would be easier to decide on the best solution.

Selecting objects in multisim

I was going along happliy creating a schematic but then after a couple of copy and pastes suddenly many of the components were being selected in a very strange way. Instead of the usual blue box around the componment I just clicked on, I get a very large selection box that encloses a bunch of components and trails off the side of the sheet on to infinity. This behaviour also occurs when components are individually selected with the spreadsheet view.
Not just the last couple cut and pastes were bad but all of the objects I placed today many of which seemed fine moments before the bug bit. Objects I placed yesterday and on other sheets I didn't work on today seem unaffected, that is I can select things one by one.
I tried closing the program and restarting, no luck. I tried "Save As" to another file name but same bug in that file also. I suppose I can try to salvage what I can with cut and paste to a new sheet and then redraw from scratch what I did today but I was hoping there was a better way than to loose a couple hours to file corruption bug.
Any Advice on how to recover this file. I'm using the latest version of MultiSim. I've deleted most of my pages and attached the buggy one here. The effected components are on the right hand side of the sheet. I'll work on another sheet for now.

I can't figure out what got you into this Multisim behavior, but what I can easily see is that what's causing it is that you have labels (and a couple of components) way beyond the boundary of the sheet. Especially having the component symbol inside the sheet, but the label way far beyond the sheet boundaries create this huge selection box.
There are several ways you could fix this... the most effective ones in my opinion would be:
1. With the mouse, click outside the sheet boundaries and every time you get a huge selection box, delete it. This will obviously delete the corresponding or associated component with that box, so you'll need to add it back.
2. Same way, but instead of deleting them, try dragging the box into the sheet, after doing this you'll notice very tiny labels or components approaching the sheet (you are as zoom-out as possible for this). However, still with this option something is weird with the components.
3. The other option is yes, copy/paste components into a new sheet.
In order to avoid this, make sure that when you are going to copy a component you select the symbol of the component, and not just only the label, RefDes, or any attribute. On either case, the way I would suggest you to copy components is to use the In-Use List, you find it usually in the top-right corner of your toolbar section.

As you can see in this link the part is longer manufactured and it does not have a replacement.
In terms of functionality, you can try using the component PLL_VIRTUAL in Multisim to replace it in a high level simulation or create a new component of a replacement that you have the SPICE model of.

Hello,
It seems you already have a working file. The way a seven segment display works is by lighting each individual light of a the display (there's 7 lights for number 8 for example). You can use a driver or figure out a logic using digital gates. If oyu need information on this, there are lots of examples on the web and youtube. There's also samples in the Multisim samples folder involving seven segment displays that you can see.
