Using gifs in motion

I have imported a few gifs into motion but when I place it and hit play there is no motion. How can I make the frames play from the gif to animate when i hit play? Thanks,
jefre

Motion doesn't support animated GIF files. Convert it to a video file (or image sequence) first. There should be online tools that can do it or maybe search the app store for one.

    1) If you want transparency, use either GIF or PNG.  PNG looks a little better because it supports more colors but the file size is bigger and alpha transparency is not supported in IE6 - but there are png scripts that will force it to work.
    2) Some are.  It all depends on where you got them.
    3) No.  Robots don't 'see' images.

    4) Mostly a #wrapper division is a CSS container.
    5) Try searching Google next time.  For questions about images, look in Fireworks or Photoshop FAQs.

  • Using PXI 7352 Motion card and 6025E DAQ

    Dear Sir,
I am using SCXI 1520 along with PXI 1011 & E Series DAQ (6025E) to measure the Load Value of a load cell. I am also using PXI 7352 Motion card to control the velocity of a Plunger. Now my requirement is to stop the movement of the Plunger depending on the value I read from the load cell. I am not able to achieve the stoping accuracy for high speeds (around 150mm/sec) in the software. Can it be possible with the use of Motion Control card and RTSI signals? If so, how can I do that? (I am not used any limit switches as the load value at which the Plunger should stop is user programmable and I am using DAQ card in Multiplexed mode because i am reading more number of analog inputs with only one DAQ card)

    Hello.
Based on your post I am guessing that you are performing the control in software, i.e. starting a velocity move, and then reading the load cell until it reaches a threshold, then stopping the motion. As such you are essentially limited by the software control loop rates.
You are using PXI so it is possible that you are using real-time. If not, one solution could be to implement a real-time application that would be more deterministic, but again this would still depend on the software.
Depending on your system (stepper or servo), you could implement a direct analog feedback into the motion card itself, but this would require a signal which has a range much greater than your load cells. This is only a good option for servo axes. If this was somehow possible, you can tell the motion controller to move to a specified LOAD instead of a specified position/velocity. Provided you could appropriately condition the signal, this is the best choice.
Unfortunately, you cannot implement limit switches/etc over RTSI, so I believe that this will not be a good option.
A third, and probably most un-desireable option, is to output a voltage on the PXI-6025E proportional to the load received from the load cell. This voltage could then be used as the analog feedback for your motion device. This, however, still adds the software layer of delays.
I hope these ideas help you out.

  • Using .gif as background

can you use .gif files as your display background

If you are talking about your Wallpaper (shown when the device is locked) then just convert it to JPEG or something.
If you are talking about a backdrop behind the icons then no, you can't do that with a standard iPod touch.

  • Tension control in labview using PCI 7354 Motion Control Board

I want to make a program for web tension control of roll to roll system in labview using PCI 7354 Motion Control Board. Is there any interface program that can convert my controller output in a format to be directly used as the input of PCI 7354 (Motion Controller Board) for tension control?
    Thank you!

thanks for your reply, i have already make the code of a straight line move and the motor moves successfully, but know i want to put the H-bridge to be able to make a reverse direction for the motor, for your information i only use a PCI-7340 controller and a UMI-7774, where the controller connected to the UMI-7774, the UMI connected to a PWM circuit and the PWM connected to the DC-motor, so what do you think i can do?

I have a .gif animation that I want to use in my signature file, but the animation doesn't seem to work. I have created a signature and placed the files in the signature - just no animation. Any suggestions?

First of all we are only talking about animated gifs, not static gifs and we are only talking about Mail.app.
Animated gifs are still viewable but it will be static if you attach one to a mail message and view it in Mail.app. It will play if you view it using other programs, like Preview or other Mail clients.

  • Is there a way to reverse the direction of video using audio in Motion 3?

    Hello all!
Brian here. I have a question. I'm looking to have some music I've written in Logic, to control the actual playback direction of some video footage I've shot. A more visual way of putting this would be like "video scratching". As the audio has scratching in it, I'd like the video clip to reflect the scratching visually. I was wondering if there's a way in Motion 3 to do this. I've looked around, and asked a few people, and I've not gotten any further than having the video's scale (among other things) to bop to the music. Although that's also fun, it's not what I want. If you need more of a visual, check this link:
    DJ QBert:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuL8I0hpkQ4
Watch the needles move around as you hear the scratches, as well as some of the other graphics. It's this effect I'm looking for.
I hope to hear from you all soon!
    Sincerely,
    Brian.

Try using the Audio parameter behavior applied to the Speed of the clip, that should do it.

  • Using GIF images in iMovie11 ??

Admittedly this is now my first attempt at using the iMovie8/9/11 editing structure since I was perfectly satisfied with iMovie06 HD and that timeline approach. In the old program I had GIF formatted images (Maps) that I had available in my "Photos" Media for adding to my Project timeline in the same fashion I would use a still JPG photo.
After a number of hours searching the forum here and all the iMovie 9/11 documentation I can find, it appears  this new version of iMovie does not display GIF images in your iPhoto Media list to use for projects. Bottomline is I am not able to drag a gif map into my video project. It seems only JPG format files are now displayed in iMovie's iPHOTO Media source list.  I have one graphic that is a collage of photos and graphical objects which I had saved in JPG format to preserve the photo quality and that one shows in my Media list. No GIFs.  What gives?  I can open iPhoto stand alone and see my map graphics that are present in the database in their own Rolls.  I've tried dragging, dropping, importing, etc. with no success.
This is a significant limitation (or bug) if the current version of iMovie does not allow free use of graphical images in GIF format. Can anyone shed some light on this and help solve my problem before I go back to iMovie HD?  Thanks in advance.

I'm not in the position here to 'defend' Apples decision, but an expert as you should keep in mind:
iM vers.≤6 was a completely diff app than iM vers. ≥08
same name, from the ground different programs (not only on the outside)
video isn't based upon limited 256 colors, nor has inserting a file-size-degraded still any effect on the resulting video-file size.
Photoshop is a >1k$ professional tool, meant for stills - so, it should support a bunch of formats, including obsolete ones. iMovie is a 15$ consumer toy tool, by concept reduced in options to offer convenience - for a broad range of people - I dare to say, the majority of iMovie users dont even know the existence of 'gif', iMovies iLife partner for stills, iPhoto, is biased to jpg.-

on MacOS, there's little options, I haven't tried, but I wouldn't be surprised, if FCPX doesn't support gif either. pretty sure, Premiere as part of the Adobe CS suite, will handle it - somehow.

  • Using Light as Motion Path for Trapcode Particular

    Hi,
I am trying to make an animation for a project, but I cannot figure out some things.  I am trying to create the effect that a person is throwing money out the back of a car.  I have the live shot of the person in the car, but I cannot get the money to behave how I want it to. I am trying to use the Trapcode Particular, but I can't get the particles to follow any motion path.  When I set the settings to motion path, it prompts me to create a light.  I create a light, but can't figure out how to make that light have an actual path rather than simply being a spot light.  Please help! I'm sorry if I don't make any sense, please ask me to clarify if you need it.

Because you are doing it all wrong! If you wanted to use the Motion Path option in the Air physics model, your light would have to be exactly named like that - Motion Path 01. It's not what you want, though. I'm 100% certain of that. You are looking to create a conventional light emitter, which is a whole different thing. For that, your light should be named Emitter (or whatever other prefix you define in the plug-ins Options/ Settings panel). Then you must set the emitter type to Light. If you use spot lights and want your money to emit directionally, you need to set the emitter to Directional as well. Apart from that, Particular will use the light's color, cone angle and intensity to colorize and eject the particles. After that, you can animate the light in 3D space to whatever you need it to do.

  • How use an ESP motion controller to drive an actuator by using Labview program?

Our group bought a Universal Motion Conroller/Driver from Newport company and
its model is ESP 300. Right now, I am going to use it remotely and I want
to use Labview to compile the driving program. My thought is to move an
actuator step by step in x-axis and the length of step moving is 2cm.
After moving 40cm on x-axis from the beginning to the end, I will move the
actuator one step on y-axis. Then I moving from the beginning to the end
on x-axis again. I wonder whether somebody has such a labview program
or not. Or, has anybody other sample Labview programs for the
controller to control the moving? Can you provide them to me?
    Thanks a lot.
    Huili Wang

    Hello,
There are several examples written in LabVIEW to do what you are trying to do but they will only work with National Instruments motion controllers, as they use driver specific VIs. In order to use your controller with LabVIEW you'll need a shared library of some sort. Once you have this library you can program your controller in LabVIEW by making function calls referencing to its shared library. See built-in LabVIEW examples for 'Using External Code'.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you decide to go with one of National Instruments motion controllers instead and need help finding those examples I was referencing above.

  • Jagged Text using Cameras and Motion 3

    Hello,
    Using Motion 3.
We have an issue when we use the camera to travel through various text titles in 3D.
The camera works fine, but the text itself is very aliasy - even though we are working in an HD environment. I believe my problem is that the text size was just 36 for the titles and should have been bigger. I believe that I am doing all sorts of camera zooms and I've gotten too close to the text - thus showing it getting pixelized and aliasy. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Or is it another setting that I havent found yet? The video was output as 100 percent quality uncompressed 10 bit HD 720p.
    Thanks

36points for the text? That is tiny! No wonder your text looks bad. You need to enlarge the text a lot if you want to fly right up to it in 3D.
In the dashboard, the text wont go bigger than 288, but if you go to the inspector you can tap a larger size into the text sixe parameter.

  • Using LT for motion menu background – problems

I’m trying to use a LT texture (Canvas>Sinopia) as a motion menu background. I exported 30 secs of the rendered texture direct from LT. The QT file size is 1.09 GB. Couldn’t get it to work in DVDSP. Took that file into FCP and re-exported it using custom settings. File size now 108.7 MB. Still doesn’t work in DVDSP.
Should I be putting the 30 second file through Compressor? Is it the large file size that is causing the problems?
Importing the .lpr file into DVDSP also doesn’t work (although I prefer to pre-render all assets, otherwise DVDSP slows to a crawl).
I’ve now tried the texture as a 5 sec version (20 MB file) – works fine, but there’s an annoying jump in the loop every 5 secs. If I could fix that, the menu would probably be OK.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Regards. Robert.

Both solutions worked. Wish I could award 2 solved stars.
Compressor produced an m2v file of 21.9 MB. I'm going with that because the workflow is quicker and simpler on my old setup.
Exporting as DV from FCP produced a file size of 103.2 MB. My DVDSP slows down with large file sizes, so I'll give it a miss. Or could still be me doing something incorrectly.
I'm working in SD PAL 16:9.
    Help was much appreciated.
    Regards. Robert.

  • Using Timewarp on motion tweened effects...

I'm using Timewarp to adjust the speed of a layer that contains motion tweened effects (ie. particles). For some reason Timewarp is treating the layer as regular 29.97 fps footage and using it's vector blending to interpolate the footage (creating undesirable distortions).
In the end, I plan on Timewarping a single pre-comped layer that contains many different effect layers (Particular, Optical Flares, Element, etc.)
Is there a way to get Timewarp to just re-calculate and re-tween the motion instead of doing it's usual vector blending thing?
    -Pete

Hey, thanks for the great suggestion. I never really used Time Remapping before so I tested it and it works great! It actually re-calculates tweened motion and does a decent job on regular footage that has pixel motion frame blending enabled.
I guess since Timewarp is just a filter, it's limited.
    Thanks agan.

  • Export using Compressor crashes Motion

    Motion 2.1.2
This problem seems to have surfaced out of nowhere. When using the commandshifte command to export from Motion using Compressor, Motion crashes. Every time. Was fine yesterday and have not done any software updates since. Can export directly out of Motion (but need to do a batch). Trashed Motion and Compressor prefs and repaired permissions. Compressor fires up on its own just fine.
    Help?

Export to Compressor using any ProRes format does not work.
If anyone would like me to upload the project I can, but it'll be a big one if I "collect media."
Bottom line, this workflow works in Compressor 3.0, 3.0.1,2 but not 3.0.3. It gets a strange pixelation that is unusable.
I cannot describe my dissatisfaction with Apple right now. My business runs on FCS2 and I have had to start this project (which is on a strict timeline.. aren't they all?) from scratch because there is no way out of this bug. The forward compatibility is another issue altogether, which irritates me beyond description.
I have noticed on these boards, that I often do some unique work and no-one experiences the "exact" same problems I encounter. I do tend to push the limits of what FCS can do, but I am not extraordinary by any means. I simply use it the way it's intended.
Exporting from Motion, using compressor, is the best way to format my graphics for my FCP timeline as I have to export many graphic sequences that need to match my FCP sequence settings. There is no reason the "export to compressor" using a custom compression ProRes preset should result in mangled motion graphics.
TO APPLE: Come the **** on. This is YOUR compression algorithm.
Please if anyone has anything to add here I'm welcome to suggestions.
Currently the only thing I can do to alleviate the problem is to roll-back to FCS/Compressor from disc and re edit my entire sequence.
    **** poor. **** poor.
