Using Google toolbar window

I went from I-Explorer to Firefox and I love it. I miss a Google toolbar where the highlighted text from a web page is automatically transferred to the Google window – no need to cut and paste.
Anything in Firefox like this?

ok, fixed it myself

Many users have restored the functionality of Google toolbar by installing the '''''Add-on Compatibility Reporter''''' extension. Google needs to test the toolbar in Firefox 5 and change one line of their code to make it compatible with Firefox 5.

You either do not have Java installed or you have it disabled in Add-ons > Plugins. See if you have Java Platform SE ''version number'' installed there. If there and disabled, click the "Enable" button and try the site again. If not, install Java.

  • How to use google toolbar in firefox 5? Can I use the older version with google toolbar or I have to delete firefox from my computer using IE etc?

I want to use google toolbar in firefox 5, but it does not support it.

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues - once it's installed, you can just re-enable Google toolbar.

  • Disapointed with upgrade cant use google toolbar when will this be fixed??

I upgraded to the newest firefox after being asked a gazillion times
Now i cant use google toolbar, when will this be resolved?

Google needs to update the Google Toolbar program for Firefox 5.0.
The Google Toolbar '''7.1.20110512W''' version does work in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension, I tried it myself due to the large number of postings about GTB problems. <br />

  • When using Google Toolbar, and I begin entering a search term, several complete choices appear, but when I click on one of them, autocomplete does not fill in the search box.

Why does the complete suggested search term not appear in the search box when I click on it?

Probably caused by search redirect Malware.

  • With the newest version of Firefox, I can no longer use the Google toolbar! Also, some of my Webroot protection had to be inactivated. When will these features be able to be used with Firefox again?

With the new version of Firefox, the Google toolbar and something with my Webroot protection had to be inactivated to install. I use many of the features on the Google toolbar daily, and miss not being able to use it. When I try to reinstall, the message is that it is incompatible with Firefox 5.0. And I am not sure which features of my Webroot protection had to be deactivated for Firefox to install and run, but I want to retain my firewall and virus protection. And I MUCH prefer to use Firefox! So - I know you are always developing and improving. When will these become compatible again with Firefox.

The Google Toolbar is from Google and support for it can only come from Google, and Google has eliminated it from Firefox, and it never was in Google. Even Google has indicated that the features are available in Firefox through other extensions. But the features are really available in Firefox even without extensions from what I've seen because Firefox has very powerful bookmarks and knowing how to use them with JavaScript, substitution, and keyword shortcuts is a key to using Firefox.

  • I want highligted text to go to a google toolbar as in Internet Ecxplorer

My present browser is Internet Explorer, if I am browsing Ebay and I highlight a word or phrase, this is automatically put into the google toolbar , I can then get Google to search for this item .
for instance if I am searching on Ebay and find Sony TV model 12345 , if I highlight the phrase it will jump into the Google toolbar window , then clic search and it will bring up search pages about the Sony model 1245 !! , How can I get this on Firefox ?

Once you highlight some text that you want to search for, right-click and select <br />'''Search ''Google'' for .....''' <br /> ''(the ..... will be replaced by the text that you highlighted)''
Firefox will use the search engine which is selected in the Search Bar. If you change the search engine that shows in the Search Bar, the search engine used ''(and named)'' in that context menu item will change.

  • How do I get the lattest FF with a Google Toolbar On XP & Vista in English

I am using FF 4 and want to update to the latest. My Desktop w/XP says Version 8 & Laptop w/Vista says Version 9. I am using Google toolbar with at least 6 or 7 items that I am using all the time and I want to keep it. I switched to Version 5 sometime ago and I no longer had a Google Toolbar so I switch back to Version 4.
I have read that if I go to "http://google-toolbar-firefox.on.softonic.com/download" it will work as long as I also go to Mozilla and install "add-on compatibility reporter". Would you please confirm that this will work for me.
Also wen I did switch to FF Version 5 and then back to Version 4, I lost the use of "Bookmarks" in my Google Toolbar. When I place my mouse on the word 'Bookmarks' it says "Sign in to access your Google bookmarks". There is nothing I can do to sign in as nothing I have used in the past with Google is accepted.
Would you please respond ASAP by email - [email protected] Thank you very much
    Jim Nicholas

  • I wish to revert to previous version of Firefox. Version 5.0 is not compatible with Google Toolbar

I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 and now have no Google Toolbar. I'm not sure what else is disabled as incompatible, but I want to revert to my previous version. How can I do this without losing my settings and plugins? I could not find version 4.0.1 on Mozilla's website. Only version 5.0 appears to be available.

Firefox version 4 (4.0, 4.0.1) is no longer supported.

If this solves your problem then mark as solved, if there is an aspect that is not covered directly or through searching extensions on that page, or other searching that you can try, please indicate what is not covered and describe what it does and we will try to help you with a Firefox solution. Don't expect to see anything that is an exact replacement of a Google Toolbar feature. Likewise if you have additional solutions not covered others would likely want to hear about them.

  • After I search using Google in Firefox, and hit the back arrow button to return to the main homepage I use, the browser won't take me there. Instead, I'm left at the initial results page from my search.

Assume I start at Google as my homepage. I search for Federal Reserve. Google then brings up a number of selections for Federal Reserve. I can scroll through to more search results on page 2, 3, 4, etc. Now suppose I want to use the back arrow button to go back to Google as my homepage. I’ve found what I was looking for. When I try to get back to Google, the furthest back I can go is to page 1 of the search results. The browser won’t take me back to the original starting page which was Google. Also, it doesn’t matter what the starting page or initial page was. The browser will only take me back to the initial page after the original homepage. By the way, I did not install any new software or applications prior to this problem occurring. My guess is that it may have something to do with the function keys at the top of the keyboard. But I can’t figure out what the problem is with the function keys. It’s only a guess.

  • I upgraded to firefox 5. No google toolbar, and no mcafee site adviser. When will these be available again? I'm not happy about losing my google bookmarks

I'm questioning whether the firefox 5 update is legitimate? The reason is that when I upgraded to version 5 I lost several things from version 4 (all my Google toolbar, bookmarks, mcafee site advisor etc.) How can I recover these important items? I'm not a happy camper right now.

Icant use google toolbar in firefox ?

Install it from this page. <br />

Be aware that Google has decided not to update the Google Toolbar for Firefox 5.0 and later versions, so Firefox 4.0 is the last version it will work with.
