Using hands free phone thru mp3 connection?

i have been currently using my curve 8330 in conjunction with a parrot bluetooth system for hands free phone. worked great..  unfortunately last week driver ran a red light and totaled my 05 honda element.  just bought a 2008 Ford Escape XLT.  does not have the microsoft sync system but does have an mp3 input jack.  i know my blackberry will work as an mp3 player but can i use the phone funtions such as voice dialing and hear the audio thru my audio sytem without purchasing another parrott system? much appreciate your advice.

Actually you can talk with the iPhone still connected to your car audio. I owe an '06 Nissan Armada with an auxiliary jack included. Sometimes I will use my Apple BT. Here lately, I've been using nothing other than the iPhone plugged in and talking. I can hear the person I'm talking to and vice-versa. I always knew I could talk using the BT, but I just found out two weeks ago, that I could talk and listen without a BT, at all. The only thing you'll need to do is, make sure to decrease the volume of your system, in order to avoid any feedback. It'll work just fine, if you do it right. trust me.

  • Contact order: I sort first names/Last: I enter phone numbers by priority, Most used (home or mobile), then work, then fax, and save.  The next time I use the phone, the order has been changed to work fax, home, mobile.  Using hands free in auto is a trip

This is a pain when the phone re-sorts the order, when I need the most used number to be first using hands free in my car.   Who can get this corrected in the iphone software to leave the order in which I imput numbers alone.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • IPhone 4:  Bluetooth Issues - Hands Free Phone in vehicle

    All,
This is my first Apple post.  I usually go out and Google and find/figure things out on my own, but I am stumped!
I recently upgraded my wife to an iPhone 4 16gb Black from an iPhone 3GS 8gb.  With the 3GS, we were able to pair the phone with our 2011 Toyota Highlander with bluetooth capability, giving me nearly 9 month pregnant wife the ability to stream audio to her stereo, but more importantly she was able to make/receive calls in her car using the hands free.
We were able to go through the setup like we did with the 3GS to pair it.  It pairs up just fine.  However, the only thing that works is the audio streaming.  She cannot access the phone for calling/receiving calls with the vehicle.  When a call comes in, I remember the 3GS having a bluetooth headset option that showed up, but as long as the bluetooth was on in the car, the stereo would automatically pick up the call and she could talk to the car and hear the call through the speakers.
I have read that the iPhone 4 had bluetooth issues with older IOS versions, but she is on 4.3.3 currently.  Again, audio streaming her music works, just not the phone.  What gives?

    Hey Shane!
You could always try going to Toyota and see if there is a firmware upgrade available for your car.  Even though your car is new, there are always firmware releases available.
New Phones don't always work with older firmwares in new Car Stereos.  With Technology changing everyday you want to make sure your always update on all devices involded.

  • Hands free blue tooth not connecting and sound quality poor

I recently upgraded from a iphone 3g to the iphone 4. The 4 does not automatically connect to the hands free blue tooth in my Hyundai. I have to turn the phone off and then back on for the hands free in the car to connect to phone. On my 3g I turned on the car and it automatically went to the hands free speakers. Also people tell me they are having trouble hearing me, saying I sound very far away. I never had these problems on the 3g.
Does anyone have any suggestions? This is frustrating because I am constantly in and out of my car and getting many calls from clients and staff while on the road.

I installed IOS4.1 and the bluetooth handsfree connects about 20% of the time without having to power off the phone and turning it back on. I deleted the phone on the handsfree and re-pared the phone.
Something is still not right with the iphone4 and bluetooth connection.

  • My i phone 5s is not connecting with i tunes on any computer and i have tried different cords, computers, and then i tried to use a different phone, and it connected to i tunes, So the problem is definitely my phone, What I'm asking is how do i fix it?

Hi so my phone seems to not be connecting to any computer on i tunes. When i plug it into my macbook pro it charges but will not connect to i tunes. I tried another i phone 5s and it did connect to the computer so its definetly my phone that has a problem, Are there any settings or anything that i can change so my i phone will connect to Itunes so i can sync.
Ps: this has never happened before and ive synced my phone plenty of times on this computer

  • MD Now Requires Hands-Free Calling--Best Bluetooth Speaker Phone for iP4

It's a good thing that, as of today, Maryland requires hands-free phone usage in vehicles, but I am in a rental car at the moment (possibly because of someone else's irresponsible cell phone usage--and I don't know how long), so I am looking for a portable bluetooth hands-free speaker phone that actually works with my iPhone 4 with IOS 4.1. I have had many people tell me lately that I sound terrible when calling from my car using my Parrot Mki9200.
So, what works best now with the iPhone 4 with IOS 4.1 that I can use in my rental and possibly later in my real car.
Thanks in advance for any useful information,
    Lambanlaa

Thanks, Randy, but I don't want that to be a part of the equation of a traffic violation, if I should have one. Will you hold the phone up to your ear now that the law is in effect? If not, what car solution do you use with your iPhone 4?

  • Washington State now requires hands-free use: we NEED help from Apple

While iPhone pairs seamlessly with bluetooth-capable automobiles, users will nonetheless struggle to comply with laws that mandate hands-free phone usage in our cars. Answering calls is easy, but in order to dial in hands-free mode we need either
    1) Voice-dialing
    -or-
    2) Complete contact list transfer, enabling one-touch dialing features already built into our cars.
At this time iPhone offers neither, and since I have to look at the screen to dial a contact I'd be in violation of the law when relying on my iPhone in the car to make calls.

My car has voice operated dialling (Honda Civic).
I program my numbers in the car via voice and allocate then a voice command (like "Mother").
Then all I do is press the button on the steering wheel and say "Dial Mother' the car repeats back to me "Do you want to dial Mother?", I press the button again and say "Yes", the car says "Dialling".
It then connects to the phone dials the number and the audio in and out is sent via the car microphone and speakers. It even directs the sat nav commands to the opposite side speaker so that you hear two distinct voices.

  • Hands Free problems since ios7

Since upgrading my iphone 4s to ios7 I cant use hands free in my (09) Mercedes A Class as the phone is not compatible!  Its been fine up to now, any ideas on a fix as I need this pdq for work?

I have also had no end of trouble with it with my bluetooth also and the same thing happened when I 'upgraded' to IOS 6 when that came out.  I have tried forgetting the device and re-pairing a number of times and that has not worked.  I have the seperate Mercedes bluetooth unit that sits in the centre console (black device with a blue flashing light) in my 2008 ML.
The issues for me can vary, but it will switch automatically from the iphone to the car kit during calls, will not be able to be answered through the phone or car buttons.  Will also remain paired to the car for several hours after the car has been turned off and I'm inside.  I have even had a situation where I tried dialling through the car key pad as going through the phone wasn't working and I got the message "call not possible" on the screen in the car and literally 10 minutes later the phone started dialling the number and connected?!??!
Funnily enough it is slowly getting a little better, particularly for dialling out, however, receiving calls is a lottery and usually does not work.  It seems easier to simply use the speaker function on the phone, which is not ideal.
I have contacted Mercedes dealer and they have had a few issues with the bluetooth pairing with the new iPhones, but no software update as far as I can find.  Would love to see this resolved soon!!

  • Hands free on Nissan Murano and BB 9630

I recently purchased a 2010 Nissan Murano with hands free phone system.  The BB 9630 worked great for the first two weeks and now it won't work with the hands free system.  I recently updated the operating system on the BB 9630.  Could this cause the problem?
The hands free acknowledges that the phone is connected but it "hangs up" the call and won't route it through the system.
    Any ideas?

I have an '09 Murano LE, and love the car! It paired with my Tour and hasn't given me a problem since (2.5 years now)
What I'd do is delete the pairing on both the Murano and the Tour and set it up as new. This should do the trick for you.
    Good luck!

  • Hands free redialing

So I'm driving and using hands-free to make a call when I hit a dead spot and my call is dropped.  Is there a way to tell Siri to redial the call I was just on?  I am often on the phone with people who are not I'm my contacts so I can't use that.  If not siri, does anyone know of an App that will let me redial the last call using hand-free only?

You could try a web search for the full list of Siri commands. I just had a quick look but all the results I got were from 2011, and none of those listed a redial command.  You may have better luck finding a 2012 list, but there's still no guarantees of there being a redial command.

  • IOS and hand-free in-car messages

When will iOS support reading text messages when the phone is ocnnected to a hands-free headset in a car? All urban areas require hands-free phone operation and text messages are a part of everyone's mobil life. This feature is availble on Winodws phones today and I miss it now that I have an iPhone.

Use Siri as razmee suggests, or purchase an in car system that supports the Message Access Protolcol (MAP) Bluetooth profile.
Siri has done this since iOS 5.0. MAP support was added with iOS 6.0.
