Using hotmail with the mail application

I would really like to use the mail program with my hotmail account, I tried an application that someone suggested but it did not work. Does anyone know of any programs that will allow me to use my hotmail in the mail application?

You're showing as running a Windows machine.
I would suggest using Google Mail. You can either set up GM to forward your messages, or configure Mail's POP3 account settings and have them brought in when you do a 'get mail'.

  • Can I use hotmail with the Mail app?

I looked at the mail app, but didn't see hotmail in there. Can I use it on the touch after upgrading?

I had this question as well. i don't think MSN or Hotmail allows the enabling of pop mail. Therefore it cannot be used unless you subscribe it to a pop mail client. I just switched over to gmail to maike things easier. But would love to find out an answer to this question

  • How can I set up hotmail in the mail application

    Hi
How can I set the mail application to include hotmail? I've been able to add it, but it doesn't sync read and unread messages. I know iPhones used to have the same problem, but after iOS5, there was an option to include mail from hotmail. Is there an option to include hotmail now in Mail, as I can't find it.
Also, as I've just switched from Windows to Mac, is there a button on Mac for home and end like Windows has?
    Thanks

Unfortunately hotmail requires you to pay a fee to have your e-mail go through a mail application, like Apple Mail. Contact their customer service to see about fees, as well as set up process.

  • Using hotmail on the mail app

Does any one know how to set up hotmail on the mail app like what the in an out going "host name" would be
if you know how to set it up please let me know

does not seem like iPod touch support industry standards like HTTP mail account type. iPod touch only supports POP, IMAP and Exchange.
Five options to get hotmail to work for you:
    1. Upgrade your hotmail to Hotmail Plus.
Note this will cost you about $20 per year. The you can get the POP details and use this.
    2. With IzyMail, you can access Hotmail
    http://email.about.com/od/iphonemail/qt/etgethotmail.htm
    3. Use Safari and read your hotmail e-mail.
    4. Forward all your hotmail to gmail and use gmail.
    5. ask someone from apple to add support for HTTP.

  • What is User flag and how can i use it with the mails?

    Hi.
i do wana know what is meant by user flag and how it is different from System flag.?
can i use user flag to distinguish the mail. in my application?
    Thanks,
    Dushyant Kumar

System flags are defined by the IMAP spec and every server has to support them.
User flags are defined by the application. Different IMAP servers may have different
    limitations on user flags.

    Hi Po(?),
There is the open-source Mail bundle, httpmail, but the Leopard version is flaky at best. Your mileage may vary.

  • What's with the Mail application?

Again, I'm having problems with Mail.
Today it deleted my Sent messages, even though my deletion setting is "never".
And, I'm still getting numerous Incoming Messages...10,499 now!
    Help!

    seventy one,
Just to confuse the issue even more...
When I choose the Receive option I get this message..."You are receiving email notifications for this discussion. To unsubscribe, click "Stop email notifications" below."
And when I select the Stop option I get..."You have stopped receiving email notifications for this discussion. To subscribe to new messages via email, click "Receive email notifications" below."
Did Apple change it, or add the messages?
    My brain hurts...

  • Using Hotmail with Ovi mail (Syncing)

    Hi,
Is there a  way to connect OVI mail to Hotmail via POP so it checks and downloads new messages away from hotmail only when I check them via OVI?
So what I plan on doing is creating an imap folder on my OVI mail account that shows all my new hotmail messages but only when I check it via OVI
Is this possible? That will be great if it is as it'll mean imap hotmail
and I can slowly wean myself away from hotmail as well (It's rubbish for not having imap)

i had Nokia Messaging and  my hotmail synced and recived my emails auotmatically and now its not. I have to sync manually sync each time now. And why cant i log on to my msn messenger through my ovi chat . I keep getting a message about the sevice not being available for my region or operator why is that.

  • TS4507 Problems with the mail application: I quit and then it is still clean inbox. do you have another solution?

I have tried to solve the mailbox problem with exchange.
It all works fine with iPhone and iPad.
Can anyone in Apple solve these problems?

First this is not Apple. This is a user forum. We are all users like yourself helping each other. Your description of your issue is very vague and incomplete. What exactly is the problem?

  • I open by default .gif files with the Mail application.

But every time I try to open one, it asks me to confirm because it says it was downloaded from the internet.
How can I remove that check?
    Thanks,
    Roberto

It is a built-in security feature in Mac OSX. Removing it may not be a good idea.
But there is a terminal command to do that, incase you want to reverse, note down the command.
Look for  "Permanantly disable the warning system" in this article.
I have never tried this and not recommending.

  • Today I tried to shutdown my computer and a window popped up saying that my computer could not shut down because the mail application was open, it wouldn't close, so I used a key combination to force mail to quit and now I can't log in. Help?

Okay, so I have been having trouble with my mail application all week. The window refused to open and would not quit. Today, I tried to shut down my mac and a pop up window told me that I was unable to shutdown because mail was open. After using a key combination, I successfully was able to quit mail with force quit. Then I was able to shut down with out a problem. However, upon rebooting, my computer refused to let me loggin. I put in my password correctly but then the rainbow pinwheel showed up and stalled for a minute and then my screen flashed and the gray screen reappeared, expecting a password. I tried turning it off and back on again with no luck. I also reset my password after reading a similar discussion, but I still can't log in. How can I fix this?

Startup - Gray, Blue or White screen at boot, w/spinner/progress bar

  • My Mail application is rejecting my password even though I'm putting it in correctly. Mail is working fine on my iPad and iPhone but not my iMac so it must be something to do with the Mail settings on my desktop. My software is up to date.  Can you help?

I have an iMac, operating system 10.7.4 with up to date software. My mail application is rejecting my password even though I know I am putting it in correctly. I have an ipad and iphone and the mail application is working fine on them. On my desktop however I cannot receive or send mail. I think it must be something to do with the settings but cannot work out what. I have contacted BT who provides my email and internet. As I have another email address with them that is working correctly they believe it is a problem with mail rather than with them. Please can you help?

    OK Vicky, good clues...
    See if this helps...
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over. See if there are duplicates, should be one for Incoming & one for Outgoing.
Resetting your keychain in Mac OS X...
If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.
