Using Https to connect to a secure site with J2ME
I have successfully been able to get a midlet using HTTPS connections to work using the J2ME wireless toolkit and following the instructions in this paper.
http://developers.sun.com/techtopics/mobility/midp/articles/https/
I would like to get Https working on a real device now like the Moto RAZR or Samsung A900 etc. Was wondering if someone has experience with HTtps on devices and help answer my questions.
Would I have to use certificates issued by one of the following CAs like thawte, verisign etc and include it on the apache server and then the device would automatically install the certificate when a HTTPS connection is made to the server?
Can self signed certificates be used on the devices , if yes how can they be imported onto the device?
Please help.
Thanks!
Certificates expire by time.
Open System Preferences > Date & Time then select the Date & Time tab.
Make sure: Set date and time automatically is selected.
Now select the Time Zone tab. Select: Set time zone automatically using current location
Now System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy
Make sure: Enable Location Services is selected.

Unable to connect to any secure sites with any browser
I am unable to connect to any secure sites. I downloaded Firefox with the hopes that it would fix the problem but it did not. What ever browser I use I cant connect to any secure sites. All of the other pages load correctly.
I have a PC notebook that I tried to load the same sites it worked fine, so I know that it is not a connecting problem.
emac Mac OS X (10.4.6)
ibook Mac OS X (10.2.x)Are you connecting via dial up or high speed through a router? If that latter, check the firewall settings of the router. I have my router set to medium (high, medium, low, & none) and it works most of the time. But occationally I get to sites that won't load and setting the router (temporarily) to low usually allows me to access those sites. So perhaps this is your issue.
I think there are ways to add those sites to router security lists or "services" that will now let them through with the higher security settings, but I need it so rarely I haven't bothered to figure it out yet.

Inspect http issue - unable to browse secure site.
Hi,
Current version of the asa firewall is 7.1(2) in which when the inspect http is enabled, while opening secure site like axis bank account or any money market site either blank page display or page can not display error message appear. When i disable this command i am able to access all the secure sites properly. It looks like a bug but in the release not i am not finding any bug related to this issue. Please help me resolve this issue.
Amit M.Thanks for the reply. When i disable http inspection and when i try to open login page for some of the site then this page cannot be display appear. Also i try MSS might get exceeded and found in the show asp drop tcp mss is not showing. But still i create a class for mass exceed and apply it in globle configuration but it does not work. Latter i have to disable the http inspection and it started working. Now the question is while clicking on login butten it will go from http to https page during this shifting of http to https why does it affect the connection when enable http inspection.
Following is the show asp drop output.

Using accelerator keys for loading a appliaction made with J2ME
Hi
Is there any methods to use accelerator keys to load a application made with J2ME for mobile telephones. The application is not running and i must find a way to load the application using keys codes.
How can i accomplish this? can i use the application manager and the jad file? i know that i can use PushRegistry for incomming connections to load the application automaticaly. But i need a way to accomplish this by using the key events on a mobile phone when the application is closed.

Secured sites are not showing that little padlock on the bottom right corner, like the old version of firefox did, indicating its a safe site, example banking, emails etc etc.not sure weather im safe or not please explain.
The padlock has been removed in Firefox 4 and replaced with the [[Site Identity button]]
Install this add-on to get it back: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/padlock-icon/ -
Getting FileNotFound Exception while using https url connection
Hi
I am facing a serious problem in running the code. I am using JSSE in my code and through this application I am hitting a URL which is also using HTTPS and that code is also using JSSE in servlets.
Now when I use the code I get a FileNotFoundException which says that the particular servlet is not located. I have given debug mode on and I could see that initial handshake is over and after that its throwing FileNotFoundException.
This problem is very serious because this system is live and now for this particular case where both the server and client are using JSSE , is failing.
Kindly suggest me some solution
Best Regards

What happened to the "lock" symbol that used to appear to signify that you were on a secure site? I haven't seen it since the previous update, so it's either moved & I haven't found it, or you took it out. If you did, I want it back!
It's stuck on a yellow question marked "multimedia audio controller." It doesn't like the CD drivers or the drivers snarfed from the aborted "you don't have an sb controller installed" pull from windows\temp\CF whatever it was. It's 3am and I've been trying to get this stupid thing running for 7 hours now. I'm going to bed. I will see if it is any smarter tomorrow morning.
It was running great until I did an "update from the web." If I hadn't have done that I'd have no complaints. Now it's hosed and I can't even get back to where I was before. I'm not impressed with creative's installation procedure.
However, there are many people complaining about the "you don't have an SB installed" problem. Creative needs a "delete everything" button, and an "install all new drivers" button. Take a page out of ATI's book in the number of headaches created by windows installer and come up with a way to fix them yourself. ATI did. This would at least get me back to the BSOD, which right now I'm longing for.
This is on a shuttle st6g4 with a disable ac97 sound nonsense with those drivers removed. -
Accessing secure sites with 3rd party router
I want to use my original router "Buffalo WBMR G54" with BT and have been for a short while but cannot access online banking or barclaycard online, works ok with home hub. Tried both firefox and IE8, pages just hangs on both browsers.
Any techies around know why this is please? My Buffalo worked fine as a 3rd party router with talktalkwehey23 wrote:
Can you tell me how to change the MTU settings for the BT Hub pls?
I have just moved home and have taken BT BB with me.....the internet is running fine but i cant connect to secure sites at all. Have tried contacting BT and they have tried everything but cant help!
Thanks
First check your Firewall is not blocking SSL port 443.
This thread contains most of the information you may need to change you PC MTU value, I don't think the Homehub MTU value can be easily changed?

Unable to connect to internal SSL sites with unknown CA's after 36.0 update.
Last week my browser auto-updated to version 36.0 and I am now no longer able to connect to certain internal corporate websites. These sites either have self-signed certs, or certs signed by an internal CA. They do not use certs signed by publicly known "trusted" CA's.
For example, one of the errors that I receive is below:
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to [HOST]:[PORT]. SSL peer rejected a handshake message for unacceptable content. (Error code: ssl_error_illegal_parameter_alert)
Although a warning message is received in IE or Chrome we are given the option to proceed and the site opens correctly, despite those browsers also indicating that the servers cert is not trusted.
I have added the internal CA's cert to the Authorities tab in the Firefox Certificate Manager, but am still not able to connect to the internal site.
Firefox allows me to accept some incorrect certs (or at least it did in the past), why is this not the default behavior with *all* certificate related problems? I realize that there are malicious sites out there, but there are also internal ones that are being blocked as well. Is there a config option that can be set so a user is prompted for all cert errors and they can decide to proceed if desired instead of just being blocked from the site? I understand blocking by default, but there also needs to be a way to proceed for advanced users.
Are there any configuration options to loosen the cert standards for sites? All other sites seem to load properly and otherwise there are no problems with the browser.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I wasn't sure where to.
Thanks for any assistance!

I had already set the tls.security.version.min to 0, so would have expected to be able to connect.
At this point it seems like the problem is that we are using an internal CA to sign the cert for this server, but Firefox won't allow me to proceed despite this. Is there an option that I can set to have firefox prompt on all certificate issues and give me the option to proceed anyways?
Any other thoughts/suggestions? -
I am trying to write LabVIEW Variants to long binary fields in a .mdb file using the Database Connectivity Toolset. I get errors when trying to convert the field back to a variant after reading it back from the database.
I next tried flattening the variant before writing it and ultimately wound up doing the following experiments:
1) If I use DB Tools Insert Data to write an ordinary string and read it back using a DB Tools Select Data, the string is converted from ASCII to Unicode.
2) If I use DB Tools Create Parameterized Query to do an INSERT INTO or an UPDATE operation, specifying that the data is BINARY, then read it back using a DB Tools Select Data,
the length of the string is prepended to the string itself as a big-endian four-byte integer.
I can't think of any way to do a parameterized read, although the mechanism exists to return data via parameters.
Presuming that this same problem affects Variants when they are written to the database and read back, I could see why I get an error. At least with flattened strings I have the option of discarding the length bytes from the beginning of the string.
Am I missing something here?David,
You've missed the point. When a data item is flattened to a string, the first four bytes of the string are expected to be the total length of the string in big-endian binary format. What is happening here is that preceding this four-byte length code is another copy of the same four bytes. If an ordinary string, "abcdefg" is used in place of the flattened data item, it will come back as <00><00><00><07>abcdefg. Here I've used to represent a byte in hexadecimal notation. This problem has nothing to do with flattening and unflattening data items. It has only to do with the data channel consisting of writing to and reading from the database.
I am attaching three files that you can use to demonstrate the problem. The VI file c
ontains an explanation of the problem and instructions for installing and operating the demonstration.

Can connect to two secure sites
I've done some reading on threads where people have trouble connecting to selected sites, but I don't think those solutions apply with this situation.
I went to a friends , mothers house, to help here with getting her new flat panel iMac on the web correctly and to get her PC laptop on the wireless router that her ISP provided. She had been talking to tech support for some time, and he finally got her partly working, but not everything worked as it should.
I got her PC and router working but I was stuck with her Mac situation. She has two sites she visits to pay bills. A bank and (as some of the threads also listed ) DirecTV.com. She can get to the sites, but once she tries to login and the address is https: ..... rather than http: the browser stalls. I tried FireFox as well. Same result. I reset Safari. No dice. I even created a new user account, to get a new set of user preferences. No change. Her PC can get to those pages just fine, using the same router, on the wireless side. I tried tossing a few of the security prefs and that didn't change things. I verified nothing was set in her firewall, and even turned it off.
Here is the kicker... while I was doing this, and she recounted what the tech support guy did, over the phone, as he remote controlled her machine, she mentioned that at one point, she could ONLY get to those two sites, and now they are the only two she can't get to. I suspect he may have been trying some settings, asked her for two sites she goes to, and she mentioned WaMu and DirecTV. Maybe he put them in some DNS screen or host file settings ? I doubt the guy would know how, but you never know. There must be a global setting that might control this. I know it's not the router, or a web browser issue.
Any suggestions ?She is going to a secure website that needs a certificate. Its information is in Safari Help, search under security certificates.

I am using my ipad on a secure network. I have problems staying connected. It shows I'm connected with full bars but I can't use the internet. I turn the wireless off, reset the network and turned off the ipad, but this problem keeps happening. (Its been going on about 2 weeks) Any ideas?
Sayingyou went through all the steps of fixing provides us with little information see we do not know what step you tried.
- Have you reset your iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Powered off and then back on your router?

Unable to login to secure sites with safari
I am no longer able to login to secure web sites on my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1) using Safari. I am assuming it occurred after the latest iOS update. After entering my credentials, I am brought back to the login page; no errors.
If I login using a mobile app, that works. It appears to be limited to Safari.
Anyone else see this issue?

Can't log into a secure site with Firefox but I can with IE.
New computer acquired in August with Windows 7. I could access this site on my old machine under Windows XP and Firefox. I can access this site under IE on my new computer after I lowered the security threshold setting. I can find no such option for Firefox. I have tried clearing cookies, history, cache.
Solved for now. Went to Tools > Options > Advanced > Encryption. Unchecked "Use TLS 1.0" I am now able to access my bank site.
