  • Use Media Encoder CS5 in Premiere Pro CS4?

Is there a way to use the Media Encoder CS5 (64bit) with CS4 Premiere Pro (32bit)? The problem is: I only have Premiere CS4 (and not CS5), but I have Adobe Design Premium CS5 (which includes the new Media Encoder, but not Premiere).

but to automatically open up AME CS5 ... hmmm.. maybe a hack?
No, that will not work. Even if you have Audition 4.0 installed (beta), edit in Audition from CS5 will only access Audition 3.0.
The only way to try it is to open AME CS5, go to File/Add Premiere Pro Sequence and select the CS4 project and then the correct sequence.

  • I cannot figure out how to edit my h.264 footage in Premiere Pro. Please help.

I have been trying to import AVI video into Premiere pro CS5. I have a new Dell Laptop with Windows 7. Every time I try to import the video into Premiere it only shows up as audio files. However, Windows Media Player plays the files just fine. I've tryed converting the files with Media Encoder but that sees the files as only audio files as well. I've used the G Spot program and it tells me that the Codec is the H264 codec and that the name is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. It also tells me that the codec is already installed on my computer.
I've had problems trying to edit h.264 stuff for longer than I'd care to admit and I just want to figure it out once and for all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Read the 2nd post for NEW ITEM pointer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/770072?tstart=0 and follow the instructions, to let PPro analyze the file for you
This is not going to help in the OP's circumstance; if the video doesn't play in Premiere, it's not going to magically start playing once dropped on the New Item button. That sets up a sequence with parameters that match the footage (is that what you mean by letting "PPro analyze the file?"), but Premiere is pretty black-or-white when it comes to format/codec support--it plays everywhere or it doesn't play at all.
If that were not true, DV footage would have to be edited only in a DV sequence, and AVCHD only in an AVCHD sequence. Of couse, that's not the case--sequences are format-agnostic.

  • Capturing to Premiere Pro CS4

I just purchased a Canon ZR960 and have footage on a mini tape. I'm running Adobe Premiere CS4 on a Mac. How do I capture the footage to Premiere? I tried File > Capture but no clips show up. What am I doing wrong/not doing?
    Thanks much for any help.

    Welcome to the forum.
First, plug the Canon into a FireWire Port. Turn on the camera and place it in the proper Mode. In PrPro, click Capture and then choose that camera (or very similar) from the device drop-down. If you wish Device Control, or Scene Detect, chose those. Now, do you get an error message that "no suitable device is available?"
Do not know about a Mac, but on a PC, as soon as you turn on the properly plugged-in camera, one gets a double "bong" tone, and a pop-up that New Hardware has been detected, and is ready to use. I would assume that similar occurs on a Mac, but do not know that. Does your Mac "see" the camera? Are there any error, or warning messages associated with it?
Good luck, and wish that I knew the Mac OS better,

  • DSC Labs colour charts and the vectorscope of Premiere Pro CC - please help

Let me immediately say that I am a retired engineer who has been a photographer since 1946 and videographer since the late 1990's - but I'm messing around in unfamiliar territory so may well say/ask some silly things...
I have a new DSC Labs "Camette v9.1" test chart and will soon take delivery of a new Atomos Samurai Blade recorder (I have a Ninja2 - and love it apart from the awful display).  The Blade will give me vectorscope, RGB Parade etc. functionality that I can use on the camera output before recording.  I have multiple cameras, which I would like to calibrate.
The Camette test chart requires that the gain of the vectorscope be set to 2x for the patch colours to be placed in their respective "boxes" during calibration.  I can definitely confirm that PP's vectorscope shows the colours to be only around 50% of the way from the centre to their respective boxes.
    Here are my questions:
    1.  Is there a way to set the gain of PP's vectorscope to anything other than 1x or 0.75x?  I really need 2x
    2.  Do all the DSC charts require a 2x gain, or is this specific to the Camette?  The Camette is about $160 whereas the bigger charts can exceed $1000 each.  As you might expect, the colours don't look at all saturated!!!
    3.  Does anybody know if the Samurai Blade vectorscope function can be set for a gain of 2x?  I am still awaiting a response from Atomos.
    With thanks in advance,
    Pete

  • Use of a capture board in Premiere Pro CS4

For several years I have been using Premiere Pro 1.5 with a Canopus Storm 2 capture card and drivers.  It has been working fine for me.  Actually I have been doing event video for about twenty years and have gone through a lot of Premiere progams.  I went from VHS to S-VHS and then into Mini DV.  I don't think I will be going to HD.  However, like life, we need to keep up with some of the changes.  So I have been considering upgrading to Premiere Pro CS4.  I was told that Canopus is no longer working with Adobe and that now it is Grass Valley and they have their own editing software.  They no longer want to let the user of their products use Adobe products.  If this is so, then what type of capture card is working with Premiere Pro CS4?  And what is the cost for my changing my system?  At least a ball park figure.  I just had a new OS put into my video editing computer and right now everything is screwed up.  The Adobe Premiere Pro and Canopus seem to be working okay, but I am not getting anything out from my computer to my editing monitor and sound mixer.  I worked all week on it and to no avail.  For years I did event video and put out some fantastic stuff, now I just want to do some informational videos and nothing is working right.  I am open for suggestions.

Okay Harm,  that is part of the problem.  Since I put in a new OS I can't get my video editing to do right.  Nothing is showing up on my studio monitor that is hooked to the Storm 2 card and nothing is coming in to my Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro line mixer that is connected to a CREATIVE Sound Blaster Live card.  I have done everything I can think of and nothing is coming out.  I have everything hooked up just like it has been for the past five or six years.  I downloaded all of my software - Previere Pro first and then Canopus and then Sound Blaster and the plug-ins seem to go in okay.  What I am getting is a sound apperance on the Premiere sound screen and also a wave form on the timeline.  In all apperance the Storm card and the Premiere are working, but nothing seems to be coming out.  Also I am getting no sound out when I download music in Audition.  I did before I replaced my Windows XP SP3 OS.
I didn't know that the Canopus Storm 2 had a conflict with PP 1.5.  I guess I never experienced any trounble before.
I just now went into my Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and opened up a capture that I had downloaded into the timeline.  Here is what happens. When I scrub the Capture monitor in PP everything works fine in the computer and the studio monitor and sound line mixer.  But when I scrub the timeline I get no sound out, and nothing shows up on my studio monitor.  It is almost like everything is reverse.

  • Need Help Fast Re: Problems with capturing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

I am working on a project with a deadline.  I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.  My camera is a Sony Digital Video Recorder DCR-HC26.  My computer is a Dell with OS of Windows Vista.  I have been capturing numerous clips from hundreds of mini digital video cassettes.  Yesterday, I attempted to capture from a Radio Shack Mini DV Metal Evaporated mini DV digital videocassette.  For whatever reason it will not capture.  I have never used one of these tapes before.  Could it be the tape?  After I click on "Capture," the screen shows NO PICTURE of sound, however, it plays on the camera.  It can't be the camera settings because all the other tapes work. . .  Any advice?

you need to post in the correct forum olivia.

  • Using new Adove Media Encoder with Premiere pro cs4

I have Premiere Pro Cs4 and Design&Web premium CS6 -  which comes with Adobe Media Encoder cs6. Can I get Premiere Pro CS4 to use the new encoder (and hopefully speed up)?

I am on Window 7 32-bit that Premiere CS6 does not work. So I use CS4 for editing. For one specific project, I kept getting errors when using AME CS4 and it was extremely slow (8min of video estimated 20 hours). Someone said CS4 4.2 is really slow so I'd like to use AME CS6 to render project files from CS4. Tried that but got adobe dynamic link components error. I think it may be because I didn't include Premiere and After Effects when installing CS6.
Do you have success using AME CS6 on CS4 project file? Is it likely to make it work without installing CS6 one more time?
    Thanks,

  • What's a good HD camera to use with Premiere Pro CS4

I've used Premiere Pro CS4 for a while now and most of the time I don't have any problems, but recently, I've been buying HD cameras, shooting some AVCHD and then having a hell of a time getting them to play nice with Premiere Pro (or WMindows Media Player... or Quicktime... or anything but their crappy bundled software that won't let me edit or anything). My girlfriend says I should give up and buy a Mac and use FCP, but I like Premiere Pro. I'm about to take another camera back to Best Buy and I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for the easiest camera to use with Premiere Pro.
In case you're wondering, I've bought a Canon Vixia HF10 and a Samsung HMX-H100 so far and both had every issue I can think of from codec incompatibility to aspect ratios changing to A/V sync being lost to all-out-I-don't-know-WTF-just-happend-errors. I just want a camera that's going to give me a file I can drop straight into Premiere.

Unless you want a new computer, forget about AVCHD. It requires too much muscle to edit comfortably on anything but the fastest computer.
What camera is nice, depends on your budget. Formats that are easy to edit are HDV, DVCProHD (P2) and XDCAM. In the consumer range you could look at the Canon HV40 or XH-A1s, in the prosumer range look at the Panasonic AG-HPX170, Canon XH-H1s, JVC GY-ND250 or Sony HVR Z5 or Z7 and all Sony XDCAM cameras, especially the EX1 and EX3. In the professional range look at the Sony PDW-F355 or upward.

  • Can I export an .mp4 file created by Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 to tape using alternative software?

I am editng with Premiere Pro CS4 on a Windows XP system.  I attempt to disable all startup and background software .  When i export a one hour completed project to tape, I invariably get at least one glitch (momentary stop) on the resulting tape. Is there an alternate program I can use to export to tape an .mp4 file created by CS4?

Could be wrong, but as far as I know the only way to "export" to tape is to PLAY the timeline while the camera is connected via Firewire and in record mode
