Using I tunes as background music.

I have a family reunion coming up and I want to create either a CD or DVD to show through a dvd player. We have the jpg images that we want to show but we want some background music. I have a ton of music in itunes and would like to use some of it.
Is there any freeware out there that we can use to combine photos and music and play on a DVD player?
PJ

Thanks. I looked at this last week. The constraint here is that the movies you make on movie maker require a computer to replay them. the are wmv files. I need to create a dvd that I can bring with me and play on a standard dvd player. This should be simple, right?

  • I have used I tunes to download music with a paid I tunes card. I can no longer open the music store to download my music.  When I do open the music store it fades in and out, preventing me from downloading music.

I can nolonge download music from I tunes, because the music store page fades in and out and will not remain permanent to allow me to download music with a pre-paid I tunes card.
Also, why is it you can only download music to an I-pod from one primary computer.  Is there a method that will allow me to download music from a variety of computers.

it only happens for previous purchases - if you have a computer you can try to download your purchase history there and then just sync them to your device - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386.

  • How can I get the background music from iMovie trailer, "Romance"to be used in another imovie?

Is there any way to download the background music from the  iMovie trailer template "Romance" to be used in another iMovie of greater length than that of a trailer?

In addition to Tom's good advice, another method is to access the audio file in iMovie's package contents folder.
In Finder, in the Applications folder, right-click (or control-click) on iMovie.app and select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu. Open the folder Contents>Resources. In that folder you will find components for each Trailer, including the soundtrack. The file you are seeking is named "SoundTrack - Romance.m4a".
Copy then paste the file to your Desktop (don't otherwise mess with items in package contents folders!). Open the file in QuickTime - it is titled "Love Story FC2". Opening the Inspector in QuickTime (Window>Show Movie Inspector) reveals it as AAC format. If you wish, as Tom indicated, you can Export the file from QuickTime in other sound formats, such as AIFF. If preferred, you can import either the AAC file or the converted file to iTunes (or other audio apps) for use as required.

  • HT4914 If I use I tunes match and have all my music on the cloud, will I be able to listen to it, meaning will it be on my device when I am without a cell or wifi signal....like on a plane or in an area without service?

If I choose to use I tunes match, and store my music on the cloud, will I be able to access it when I don't have a cell signal or wifi?  For example, when I'm on a plane or in an area without a cell signal or wifi.  And, if its just cellular coverage, will it count as "data" against my limit?

Yes, it would count against your data.  The transfer part is part of your cellular coverage, whether it be from Apple's iCloud or a totally unrelated feed.
iTunes match - http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ - see FAQ at end too
"Does iTunes Match stream or download songs?
On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button. iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later even if you don’t have a network connection. Apple TV only streams songs."
So, from the above, if you are sitting in an airplane and suddenly decide you want to listen to a song that has not downloaded to your device then you will have to wait until you can use your service again (or pay the airline to use their wireless).

I have a Windows 7 laptop using I tunes 64 and all my music files are
on an external disc. I rarely use I tunes and at one point moved all my files
(including the music files) from one external disc to another without
considering what affect this would have on the I tunes library. When I eventually
attempted to use I tunes, every selected a song from the library resulted in a
message stating that the file couldn't be located. After following some of the procedures
explained in this community I was able to reconnect the library back to where
the associated music files are presently stored. However, there are still 2
problems that need to be corrected. 1) Every song file now has a duplicate. One
file works and the other file will result in the same message stating that the
file couldn't be located. Before there were 4,000 songs in the library, now
there are 8,000 songs. I need to eliminate the 4,000 dead song files. 2) All
the playlists are still associated with the dead song files which makes the
playlists unusable. Can the playlists be reconnected to the usable files
without manually having to recreate them? Thanks in advance for the help.

    So am I understanding correctly?
You used your iPod as a hard drive (drag and drop) instead of having iTunes install the music?
If you used drag and drop your choices are different than if you used iTunes to transfer.
    Good luck!

  • One song on my iPhone only plays the background music on the build-in iPhone speakers. The song has been on my phone for a while and it used to play just fine. With the headphones on it plays normally.

Please help! (I'm actually doing this for a friend but still)
    All you need to know:
    - iPhone 4 16GB
    - iOS 6.0.3 (I think, not the latest iOS but the one before that)
    - Song which started to act strange: niggas in Paris
    - All songs work fine on headphones (including above)
    - The song has been on the iPhone for a couple of months and used to play without any trouble
    - When you play it on the iPhone's speakers you either only hear the background music, no sound at all (for a few seconds) or a weird old FM-radio noise
    - Plays fine on iTunes
    All help is appreciated!
    Thanks.

I have this issue too.  Same specs, newest OS.  Happening on "O.N.E." by Yeasayer, but doesn't play the vocals through the speaker or headphone jack, unlike your issue.  I just get all but the vocal track no matter what.  Plays fine in iTunes.  If you never get that distortion through the speaker any other time, maybe you can delete the song.
In my case, I can't delete the song through the phone since I use iTunes Match, but if you actually sync the songs/download them, that would be my first suggestion (swipe across, hit "delete.").  Maybe that would work?  Then resyncing or redownloading.
If not, maybe resetting or restoring may be the fix.

  • Would like to use song from Itunes as background music for blog, How do I?

Would like to use a song I have in my Itunes library as background music in my blog. Does anyone know how? New to computing and not great on the lingo just yet. Thanks

I'll give you my recipe to attain your goal. Then, please, tell me if it worked.
First of all, you need some MB of disc space on the web, and almost all of the e-mail providers (such hotmail.com, msn.com aol.com andso.on) can give you this chance.
Second step, you have to download, install on your computer and set with your web space information, an ftp browser such as SoftX FTP Client ( http://www.softx.org/ftp-download.html ) or Terrapin FTP Browser ( http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/downloads/index.cfm?categoryID=1470&itemID=6574 ).
Third step, you have to reduce the mp3 bitrate of your song whether it's more than 128 kbps, to make sure it won't be too heavy to load when someone visit your blog. To do this, you must open the Preference panel of iTunes (in Windows version of it usually in tools menu), click on advanced, click on import and then choose import using mp3 encoding and set the bitrate to 128 kbps (less is better) and confirm. Now select your song, right click on it and click on convert selection to mp3. When the operation will end, you'll have two files of the same song. Right click on the new one and click on "show file". An Explorer window will open with the right file already selected. Just drag and drop it on the FTP browser (is better if you correct the name of the song and put out spaces between the words before the uploading - i.e.: "Storm in a tea cup.mp3" will become storminateacup.mp3 or storm.mp3, far better) and it will be uploaded to your web space. Obviously, if your file is already at a low bitrate (lower than 128), you must jump the "Preference panel setting" step and the "convert to mp3" step.
    Final step: your blog
this is the standard html syntax, accepted by almost all of the blog providers:
    '<embed src="http://YOURWEBADDRESS/NAMEOFTHESONG.mp3" autostart=false loop=false volume='85' width=425 height=40>'
Be careful: you have to write correctly your web address and the name of the song, because the html language is case sensitive.
put autostart=true if you'd like to hear the song as you open the blog and loop=true if you like to hear your song again and again. You can also set the volume as you like (0-100 is the range) and put to 0 both width and height if you like to make the song bar invisible.
You can put the code either in a post or in the blog page, as it will be the soundtrack for the blog or just for a single post.
    Enjoy it

  • Slideshow Audio--Can't Use I-Tunes Music Files

I am trying to add audio to a slideshow. When I click on "add media" it points me toward a music folder that includes i-tunes. When I open the i-tunes folder, I see separate folders for all of the artists whose music I have in i-tunes. When I click on an artist's name, elements tells me there are no files. Elements appears to be searching for MP3s .wav and some other kind of file as opposed to whatever format i-tunes stores files. There does not appear to be a way to add to or amend the formats that elements is searching for. (And even if there was, I don't know the format of all of my i-tunes music.) Any advice?

Thank you, Barb. I will attempt to implement those suggestions. However, it's a mystery to me why these work-arounds should be necessary. The link suggests that it's i-tunes' copy protection that prevents me from using i-tunes songs for my slideshow. But I doubt that. The photo editing program I used to use, Nikon's Picture Project, let me use i-tunes songs on slideshows with no difficulty. I simply click a button and it takes me to all of my i-tunes music. I would think elements could work the same way. After all, it's just a matter of playing a song, whose rights I already own, on a computer where the song already resides. No question this is personal use.
But even if I planned to "export" my slideshow to a DVD (which I don't plan to do) i-tunes' copy protection shouldn't prevent that. If I wanted to, I could burn thousands of CDs of i-tunes songs with no interference from i-tunes' copy protection. Why shouldn't those songs be accomanied by photographs?

  • How to use MP3 file as a clip, not background music

I have a radio spot as an MP3 file, but when I drag it into the project it automatically thinks I want it as my background music. I actually want it as a clip to play after a commercial.  I have tried saving it out of QT as a movie file but it won't let me import that file in a regular import, it's grayed out. Any help would be appreciated!
    Melissa

You have to have video clip of some sort in the spot where you wan the sound clip to play. It cannot just be dropped on the timeline. So what you might have to do is put a title down with a black background, drop the MP3 right on top of that title clip  (dead center). Then it will attach as a repositionable sound clip.
You will also want to convert the MP3 to an AIFF in order to keep iMovie from working too hard to playback the song when you do the final export of your video project. This is a direct copy of the iTunes Help page for AIFF conversions:
Save a copy of a song in a new file format
You can convert a song to a different file format (and keep a copy of the original). For example, you can save a copy of a compressed song file such as MP3 or AAC in an uncompressed song format (AIFF or WAV).
When converting from a compressed to uncompressed file format (for example, from MP3 to AIFF), you shouldn’t notice any reduction in sound quality. However, when converting between compressed formats (for example, MP3 and AAC), you may notice a reduction in the sound quality. For the best results, if you want your music encoded in a different file format, import the music again from the original source using the newencoding format.
Important:  You can’t convert iTunes Store purchases unless they’re iTunes Plus songs.
    Hide
To convert a song’s file format:
Choose iTunes > Preferences, click General, and click Import Settings.
In the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the format you want to convert songs to, and click OK to save the settings.
Select one or more songs in your library and choose Advanced > Create Format Version.
The song in its original format and the newly converted song appear in your library.

  • I used to have a large music library on I Tunes but I somehow overwrote it with the few purchased items that were on my I-pod so I have lost everything apart from these few.  Can I retrieve a previous library even if I've somehow lost it?

  • How can we use a canned intro or background music when our technology is basic. We record the podcast over the phone.

Where I work currently has a podcast posted on our website. I want to add a canned intro or background music and improve the sound quality before submitting our podcast to itunes. The person who creates our podcast says it isn't possible because there's no way to hook up a tape recorder or other device with a prerecorded message to the phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You would record it over the phone first, then add any music. You don't want to record music over a phone line. Ideally you need a simple multi-track editor: there must be lots of suitable software around for Windows but I don't use Windows so I can't advise on that.

I have music on external G drive. Use I Tunes to organize and play music. Stream it to my TV and home stereo using MacBook and Apple TV. Just updated operating system to Mavericks. Now have two issues when playing music.  1) Many times album art displayed on TV will not match song playing, and 2) Music will just stop altogether sometimes. Any ideas ?

Agreed! This bug with the ringtone delay (№4.1) is really annoying

  • HT5085 Can I use I tune match to get my music off iPod classic?

Can I use I tune match to get my music off iPod classic?

The iPod classic shouldn't be used to store the only copy of music or be considered a backup device. Put the music on a regular external drive or DVDs.
