Using iCal to sync a local editable copy with a calendar server...?

Hi All,
I have a couple of calendar servers running versions of Citadel (www.citadel.org) and WebCalendar (http://www.k5n.us/webcalendar.php). We are currently considering Sunbird and Outlook as clients as they support groupdav publish/subscribe. However many wish to use iCal.
Does iCal (or will it ever) support the ability to communicate bidirectionally with a server calender? Can I sync a local editable copy with my calendar servers? If not, are there any quality plugins or workarounds of any sort to allow this?

I installed Photoshop CC (2014) yesterday through the Creative Cloud app. Now, when in Lightroom when I go to "edit in"and select Photoshop CC (2014) and click on "edit copy with Lightroom adjustments", it opens Photoshop CC (2014) but my photo doesn't show up? My photo does show up when I click on "edit copy" or "edit original".
How can I correct that so that I can open up a photo from Lightroom WITH the Lightroom adjustments? Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem, but only with jpg's. I have PS CS6, CC, and CC 2014. Other image file formats function normally with regard to the "open with" list. PS CC 2014 appears on the list. But with jpg's only PS CC appears on the "open with" list and 2014 can't be added by the browsing for it.
The curious thing is that if I have any of the three versions of Photoshop open, click on Photoshop CC in the "open with" list, the image opens in whatever version is already open on my computer. This is true of all image formats. No matter which version I pick from the "open with" list it opens in the currently running program. I use only the latest version so keeping it open all the time is an easy work around. I won't uninstall any of the earlier versions lest more file association quirks result. it would be nice to have this matter fixed.

Photoshop CS5/Lightroom 3 integration issue - "Edit Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" does not work

When clicking "Edit Copy with Lightoomroom Adjustments" from Lightroom, I get an error in Lightroom 3 complaining that the Camera Raw plug-in is not up to date; full message below.
"This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 6.1 for full compatibility.
Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3. If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera Raw 4.6, the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require Photoshop CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
The version of Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 0.0."
After I click "Open Anyways", Photoshop CS5 is initiated but it seems to have lost context of why it is opened and asks me what file I want to open (i.e. the Open As dialog).
"Edit Copy" and "Edit Original" from Lightroom 3 works as expected and opens images fine in Photoshop, CS5 however.
My installation is on Windows 7. I currently also have Lightroom 1.4 and Photoshop CS3 installed. Everything worked fine with the old configuration. I also tried the same workflow in Lightroom 1.4 again just now, which is now linked to CS5 instead of CS3. The "Edit Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" also work just fine.
Things that I have tried but do not worked:
I did an Update via the Help -> Update menu, and also manually downloaded the Camera Raw 6.1 plug-in.
Blew away the Photoshop preferences file
Made sure that Lightroom 3 points to Photoshop for editor
I'm thinking that I'll try uninstall CS3 next. Anyone else encountered this issue?

[CS5.1 (12.1) ACR 6.5RC / LR 3.5RC; MacbookPro 4gb Leopard 10.5.8 ] As a Lightroom instructor, up until now this has been a vexxing problem to explain to my students. Even if ACR in Photoshop is up to date (I just downloaded 6.5RC and installed the PS Plugin), I still get the error when attempting to edit from Lightroom 3.5RC. I deleted the PS prefs file to no avail. I was not willing to re-install Photoshop as a solution (per some blog's suggestion), although that might be the ultimate answer. But what an ordeal if so!
For a solution, I went back to a resolution I devised when I had a CS3 compatibility problem with LR3. I went into the Preferences of Lightroom and manually chose the Photoshop app as the "custom" image editor. I went back to edit the file in PS from Lightroom and the ACR error disappeared. Try it. Yes, this means you need to use the Custom editor as your image editor, but it seems to have resolved the issue.

Local Edit Proxy VS Rendering on Server

My projects are shot on HDV, uploaded as productions to FCSvr with edit proxies set for ProRes 422 proxy. Many of these projects contain Photoshop graphics, usually "builds" of bullet points or logos. Will I see a difference in image quality, specifically the graphics, between rendering locally with checked out edit proxy files and outputting the project to compressor on the FCSvr, which is, as I understand it, working from the original HDV files and original Photoshop layered files? Does FCSvr modify Photoshop files that are downloaded for local editing in any way?

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. Holidays.
1) FCSvr doesn't process stills that are used in FCP projects, it only makes note of their link to the project so it can check them out if necessary. When FCP is addressing a still it will either be the original on shared storage or a copy of the original that was downloaded upon checkout of the FCP project from FCSvr.
2) I doubt there is much of a quality difference between HDV and ProRes Proxy. All ProRes codecs are 10 bit and are designed to not degrade across multiple transcode passes. If anything, ProRes Proxy is capable of higher image fidelity than the 25Mbps MPEG-2 used by HDV. However, since you are starting with HDV, you don't gain anything in the upsample to ProRes. But you certainly don't lose anything either. Maybe some quantitative image analysis would show slight differences, but I bet you can't see any with just your eye.
3) It should be a wash. I'm pretty sure FCP renders HDV as ProRes anyway (might be wrong, but there are definitely other long-GOP codecs FCP handles that way). Either way, the fact that ProRes won't degrade the image data of the HDV means that using either one as a source should yield functionally identical output quality. FCSvr doesn't do any rendering. All it does is catalog media and hand that media off to Compressor for any transcoding. Any rendering of a composite will take place via FCP based upon whatever media it is linking to.
Honestly, if you don't see a difference in image quality looking at your HDV and the ProRes Proxy derived from it side by side, I see no reason why you shouldn't just do all your work and outputs in ProRes. Save the HDV as a source and a backup, but I don't think you are missing anything keeping your workflow in ProRes after ingest and transcoding.

Local client copy with warnings and errors

I am doing a local client copy and is still running . There are a few large tables which have not been copied successfully and is shown under "Warnings and Error". The tables show "Program Cancel (See SM21)". In SM21 , I find the workprocess was disconnected from the database.
Now my questions is , once all the remaining tables complete , will I be given an option to repeat the copy for the failed tables only. The system is 6 TB and it is running for more than 15 days now.
Please suggest.

Sharepoint: Syncing dates in excel columns with Project calendar.

I am two questions if you have some time to answer:
First question: I am trying to create a detailed workflow for a Document App. I basically want to sync dates from certain columns from a number of SharePoint excel spreadsheets
with the calendar on SharePoint for my project. The dates in the excel spreadsheet will continually change depending on the progress of the project due to cell formulas therefore
i need those dates to change also in theproject calendar. I am not sure if this can be generated in a workflow (?) or indeed if this is possible at all???
I have tried to use the "Add a Workflow" link to try the above but it does not go into enough detail for me. I have SharePoint Designer installed but i am unsure of how to go about doing this.
Second question: Is there a way to generate a workflow to sync tasks in the Tasks App assigned with "to be completed by" dates with the Project calendar? I would like to be able to create a task, assign it to someone with a due date and then
have that task appear in the project calendar.
I would very much appreciate any help you could provide me with this.

Using MS Outlook settings to set up Evolution with an Exchange server

I am currently using Outlook with an Exchange server, and I would like to use Evolution instead. I installed evolution and evolution-ews, and in going through the initial account setup, I am asked for a host URL and an OAB URL. I'm not sure what these are and can't find them in Outlook. Surely these paths are stored somewhere in Outlook, right?

When I used outlook before, I was able to log in through a web browser as another way to browse my mails when away from the office. The example in the link was
https://server-ip.com/exchange
which is the same as I was able to use. Of course, I am almost sure the address can be different. With my limited knowledge, I would recommend just entering your credentials in Evolution and click "Authenticate". If all goes well, you should then be prompted for your password. If you don't have that option, try to login to that address from your web browser. If not, maybe you can get in touch with IT or the server admin to see if the outlook server is setup to allow webdav and if in fact that is the correct address.

ICal - iPhone sync. Local calendar not showing up in iTunes list of available calendars, only Exchange calendars.

iTunes only shows Exchange-calendars in the list where you can choose which calendars (we're talking about "calendars", not "accounts") you want to synchronize. If I add a local calendar in iCal, I can not choose it to synchronize with my iPhone. It simply doesn't show up in the list of available calendars. How does iTunes compile this list of available Calendars to synchronize?

Is there a way to sync a local Oracle database with an online one?

Hi guys,
I like the Oracle DBMS and it is taught at my University. The problem is, for my final year project I'd like to create a Windows App in C# and an ASP website that synchronises it's database with the Application/local database.
If I use Oracle as the db of choice for my Application, how would I mirror it online? I see there is .NET hosting that includes SQL Server. Is there anything like that for Oracle or do I need to learn SQL Server?
If that was the case I might as well switch over to SQL server for both databases.

Oracle has several inbuilt features to do so, like Logical Standby Database, Oracle Streams and Change Data Capture.
Devloping an application to do manually what Oracle already is doing would be an extreme waste of time.
Reading Oracle documentation to implement one of the aforementioned features wouldn't.
Even if you prefer Mickeysoft, Mickeysoft already has DTS.
Don't Universities teach to refer to official documentation nowadays?

Using iCal on two separate computers to access the same calendar

I would like to be able to synch the same calendar on both my laptop and my work computer. So far, I haven't been able to do this. I've tried subscribing and making sure they update, and have my calendars posted on my .mac site. How do I get both computers to have access to the same calendar and also make it so changes I make from either home or work can be seen in both places?

Well, did you put your .Mac user name and password in the System Preferences in both computers? And you have to enable calendar sync in the .Mac preference.

Sync outlook 2007 (win 10) with E71 calendar

I can't sync my e71 calendar with outlook (pictures, text messages, music etc, do sync).
After trying to sync the calendar, I get the following message:

Open iCal and export to a file. This exports to an .ics file located on the Mac. I put mine on the desktop;
why this step?
sync services actually keeps ical and outlook in sync with each other
once step 3 was completed you should have only then gone to step 5 but done nothing
the calendar entries in ical would magically appear in outlook, as would the contacts and tasks and notes if you had them syncing too
this is what I do and furthermore outlook doesnt support caldav etc subscriptions well so in ical I right click and select duplicate, then I choose the calendar as outlook to put them in manually (subscribed calendars that is not the ones from your phone)

Sync Microsoft outlook for Mac with Apple calendar

I run Microsofts Office 365 for Mac on my Macbook Pro, and manage my work Calendar (Which comes via a Microsoft Exchange server) on Outlook for Mac. My personal/Family Calendar runs on the Apple Calendar and therefore doesn't interact at all with the other calendar.
I would love to be able to Sync up both the Calendars, not necessarily bi-directional, but rather to use just my Apple Calendar to show both personal and business calendar events on one calendar. (i.e. pull in any events from the Outlook calendar into the Apple Calendar).
Does anyone know how/if I can do this, and if so how?

Unable to use the OCWST or Web Client to connect to the calendar Server

While trying to log into the calendar using the web client i am getting the error :
