Using iChat with PC users

Hi.
I'm very new to this game, love the iChat AV but have only been able to chat with one other Mac user. Other family members use PCs and I'd love to connect with them too but don't know how to go about it.
What's need for compatibility? And what's an AIM account?

In iChat 4 you can have more than one AIM Valid name logged in at once.
AIM valid = AIM, @mac.com or a MobileMe name.
What you are then stuck with is that iChat is linked to one Buddy Picture and The one Mac User Account's Address Book which may or may not have Full Names, emails details, or a Nickname in iChat 4 linked to the Screen Names.
Whilst it does let you both log in whilst using one Mac User Account there are drawbacks about who uses the keyboard and reading meesages from the other persons Buddies.

Cannot Use ichat with this version of OSX

Please help!
I installyed leopard and now when I try to use ichat I get the a message saying I can not use ichat with this version of OSX. What can I do to try to fix this?

Also Click and hold the icon in the DOCK and Use Show In Finder.
When you get to the folder that the version of iChat the DOCK is linked click on the title of the Window to see the path to the Folder.
An Archive and Install may include a Previous System part.

Use FaceTime with both users on local network?

I'm trying to use FaceTime with a user on the same local network. It doesn't work. Any ideas?

Completely reboot both phones ... be sure your wifi is linked (on both phone) That's as much as I know ...
I've FaceTimed on the same wifi signal w/out any problems so, it should be just a simple restart.

I want to Use iChat with Skype to Videoconference several people

I want to video conference in my niece in New Zealand (PC using Skype) with iChat and the rest of my Mac family stateside.
I have Skype for Mac running and I have the iChat AV running. Any chance to hook in the Skype User with the iChat multi-pane video conference?
It looks like iChat only accepts iChat and AIM but not Skype. My niece apparently cannot get AIM in New Zealand.
Any clever help would be appreciated.

I want to use iChat for Skype as well. I want one chat client for all my communications. That was the point of iChat in the beginning, wasn't it? Hopefully, Apple will jump on the ball and support the best way for us common folk to communicate internationally. The supported Aim when they were king, why not the new king?
I stinks that I can not use the great app, because one no Skype but two I don't know anyone else that uses .mac.

No Audio when iChating With PC User

I've looked on the forum, but can't seem to find this particular issue. I'm using ichat 3 with OS 10.4.2 and the person I'm trying to video conference with has a PC with Windows XP and a logictech camera. We both have the latest versions of the AIM software for our respective operating systems. Also, I'm using DSL while he's on a cable connection.
We can successfully open and sustain a video chat, but I can't hear him and only for about the first minute of the connection can he hear me before the audio cuts out. Neither one of us can figure what the problem is. I've contacted another Mac user I know with the same camera and software as myself to test my own camera and both the audio and video work fine when conferencing with him.
My only conclusion is that it's an issue from the PC side that he has to configure although I'm not sure what to tell him to adjust, or it's an issue with the AIM client that were using and for some reason the audio support just isn't there for the software. Anybody have anything that will make this work, or can at least explain what's going on??

That could be adding to the problem. According to the link you sent me my up and down streams are 300 and above. My friend however is usually much lower, below 100 during video conferences. I thought that might be an issue, but in the past we've been able to get picture pretty easily and so I overlooked it. However, we went ahead and downloaded the "here" link you suggested to his PC and now the audio is very stable, but we have absolutely no video.
Considering he has a cable connection I'm surprised his bit rate is so slow, but I'm also aware that it's a community connection and that you're only as fast as the amount of traffic you're sharing it with. Also, I've been able to carry steady vc's with other Mac users even when my bit rate is in the low 100s and thier's is mid 100200s, so I thought I was getting by okay.
In any case, outside of the bit rate issue, is there any other way to get this thing to work already?! I'm tired, hungry and my food is running out.

Problem in changing PR using BAPI With Error User already processing PR

When i am using BAPI_PR_CHANGE, to change PR . Since i have many number of PRs to be changed in , i am running the program in background . Issue now is that i am getting already PR is been changed (processed) by User(myself), so changes cannot be made and stooping the process of change. I am using BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT with WAIT also. but i coukd not change the PR in background. How can i over come this problem? How the lock entries shall be removed fast so that next PR is changed.
Please help me out experts.

What you can do is through yur program ENQUEUE the pr then used bapi (along with commit)and then DEQUEUE the PR.
This way yur locking problem will not come.

Short dump using CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 with different user ids

Teststand fails to use app with custom user settings

For a teststand project, I have to use an .Net application that is using a custom settings provider. The problem with it is that each time it is trying to use one of the user setting from teststand, the application returns an exception:
"Failed to load provider type".
I tried to illustrate with the small demo project that I attached.
The .Net application I call from test stand is AppWithUserSetting, and one of the step in the sequence File q.seq is to get a value of a user setting. That's where it crashes for me.
On the other hand, if I instantiate the same objects and read the same user setting from another .Net application (DoLikeTestStandApp), everything is fine.
Note that in the settings.designer.cs file of AppWithUserSetting, a custom line was added ([global:ystem.Configuration.SettingsProvider(typeof(AppWithUserSettings.UserAppSettingsProvider))] ) to force the program to use the custom SettingProvider. And that's where it fails when loading from teststand.
Any idea why? At this time, I would rather not remove the usage of that custom settingProvider since it allows to keep user settings even when upgrading to different version of AppWithUserSettings.

Using iChat with Google Gmail address

I have a Google Gmail address. So I had my sister create one of her own. She told me what that address was and I added her to the Buddy List, no issues there. I also added my Gmail account under iChat - Preferences - Accounts. I can see that I am available. So can my sister, she sees me on her Buddy List. And I can see her on my Buddy List. So far everything looks like it should just work fine. But when she attempts to invite me to a video chat, I get the popup window from her asking if I want to accept her invite, so I click on Accept. But then it gets hung up on the spinning circle, waiting for her to connect. It will not and just hangs. So I have to simply close the window. I then try and invite her to a video chat, but she for some reason, does NOT see my invite popup window. So I had her check and recheck the settings in iChat - Preferences - Accounts. It matches to what I have set on mine. But I am still wondering why we cannot connect. The only thing we can do is text chat. Am I missing some little detail that I just cannot see ???? I have iChat version 5.0 - Snow Leopard. She has Leopard, I am thinking its version 4 for hers. Please any suggestions will help. Thanks in advance.

So Mac to Mac. (and yes iChat 4 and iChat 5 as stated)
Google ID to Google ID which both can see and presumably Text chat.
This leave the Video and Audio Port along with the Visible Invite port.
The Visible Invite port seems to work.
Or rather calling out on your sister's end gives you the pop up but she is not getting your response.
She on the other hand can not get your Visible Invite.
I would start with checking on the Leopard end that her System Preferences > Sharing does not have Internet Sharing turned On.
This is an issue for iChat 4.x.x
Both ends should also check the Mac OS Firewall
System Preferences > Security Sharing.
In Leopard Allow All is the Firewall Off
Allow Specifics and Allow All will work for iChat but it has to be added to the list if Specifics is used (iChat is NOT an Essential app so that will not do).
In Snow Leopard if the Firewall is ON go to the Advanced Button and Enable Allow Signed apps and add iChat to the List.
Next check your Routing device's settings.
Use UPnP (Universal Plug and play) where you can to allow the ports to be used.
Most will let you call out but not allow things back if the ports are not opened here.
If you have a modem that routes and a router only one should be doing DHCP to the LAN.

IChat with WINDOWS users

Unfortunately, I still have some friends who have Windows machines. I've chatted with some non-Mac users, but don't know how they're doing it.
Can a Windows user use an iSight?
What software do they need to connect the way we would connect with the buddy list on iChat?
I know they don't need a .mac account and can use AIM, but I don't know what to tell them to do about the camera and chat software. ???

Using Messages with Multiple Users and Multiple Computers

I have two users who share two different computers, switching between them during the day.
I'd like to use messages on them for us to send text messages in the office, however, it asks them on logging in (most, but not everytime) to re-enter their apple id password. It seems that using icloud for messages among multiple computers like this isn't good. its like it wants each computers to be linked with a particular user, and doesn't like it that the users are moving around from computer to computer
Options to avoid this nuisance?
1. Would bonjour messaging work, and then just remove the icloud account from messages?
2. How about setting up the message server on my ML Server, would that avoid this problem?

I'd say probably make sure that in the advanced tab under edit>preferences you should make sure they both point to the same file.

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

I'm the only one with a Mac - all relatives have PCs and I can't get IChat to view anyone using either MSN Messanger or AIM - anyone have any solutions? I can do messaging but I can't see video.
