You can import iDVD 3 & 4 projects to dvdsp, but not from idvd 5 & 6...

Importing iDVD Projects and Themes:
DVD Studio Pro 4 can import projects from iDVD 3 and iDVD 4. You can import an iDVD theme by using the theme in a project within iDVD and importing the project into DVD Studio Pro. When creating the project within iDVD, you do not need to use the final assets or make a complete project.
Note: DVD Studio Pro will not import projects from iDVD 1, iDVD 2, and iDVD 5.
In general, iDVD needs to be installed on the same system as DVD Studio Pro. An exception is if you import an iDVD 4 archive project.
To import an iDVD project or archived project into DVD Studio Pro:
1 Do one of the following:
• Choose File > Open.
• Press Command-O.
2 Locate and select the iDVD project or iDVD 4 archive project in the Open dialog, then click Open.
DVD Studio Pro imports the iDVD project.

Using IDVD to author

I am trying to learn DVD SP and finding it very difficult. Has anyone tried authoring the DVD menu in iDVD and exporting the menu as a disk image to Compressor for compressing and burning? iDVD makes the process so much easier.

There are a few ways to do what you want (basically bring the menu into DVD SP?)
1.) Depending on the version of iDVD and DVD SP, DVD SP maybe able to open the project. Though if it is a recent version of iDVD, it is probably a non-starter.
2.) Access the assets of the iDVD template and make your own menu from the items (sounds like that is probably not what you want to do.)
4.) Use something like DVDAfterEdit to work with the .img reauthor (but that is a larger learning curve, and probably not what you want.)
3.) Build the iDVD project to a .img. Mount the image then use [MPEG Streamlclip|http://www.squared5.com> to open up the menus. If you look about halfway down [This Page|http://dvdstepbystep.com/vts.php] you will see a list of items in a VIDEO_TS folder. The menus will be in the VIDEO_TS.VOB, VTS_01-0.VOB, VTS020.VOB, etc. (Though it may be just in VIDEO_TS.VOB, was on one of my projects I just tested on. Not sure if different versions of iDVD wrote/write to different VOBs. Then you would need to set in and out points in MPEG Stream Clip) Demux the applicable VOBs to m2vs and use those for the menus.
You would need to rebuild the highlights and if you look around in the iDVD packages for the template highlights they should work. (You would need to still assign colors.) The highlight templates may have to be resized (have not looked at them recently) so if the highlights are off that would be the issue.
FWIW the templates in DVD SP are pretty easy to deal with (and can use some of the iDVD templates) so you may be ultimately better off getting a handle on those than going through all the steps

Idvd templates made in motion?

I know this is not an idvd forum. But I am trying to see if it is possible to create templates (using Motion) with dropzones and use them in idvd. I use idvd for making quick copies of various material with the same DVD menu but would like to create my own templates and use them in iDVD.
Is is possible to use motion to create the same type of templates that idvd offers?? The don't need to be edited once they are created just need to be able to add/delete drop zones & buttons just like the basic packages offered with idvd??
Maybe some one has done this before???

but if you havd dvd studio pro (final cut studio package), motion can fully be incorporated to create dvd menus. you will not be able to do so with idvd,

IDVD Templates into FCP

Okay, I know they're cheesy, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to get iDVD templates into FCP and if they're key-able once they're in? Or, if anyone has any tips on where else to get some fun templates? I know FCP has a lot of transitions, but I don't know about moving masks or anything.
I'm specifically thinking of the one that has the vertical bars sliding back and forth across the screen. I don't have After Effects or Motion, so I was just cropping slugs into bars and keying them around, but it seemed kind of silly. Any better ideas?

You can copy the .mov files out of iDVD 4.x themes.
You will need to go to iDVD application and do a control-click and slide down to Show Package Contents. Then open the Contents folder and then Resources Folder.
Find the theme you want, I'll use 000_Theater.theme as example. Control-Click on 000_Theater.theme and slide down to Show Package Contents. Hold the option key down and drag the BackgroundMovieNTSC.mov to your desktop. (the option key will copy the file to desktop so you don't mess up the original theme) This is a QT file that you can now put into FCP.
The only problem is that the movie is 640x480 and not the 720x480 format that FCP uses.

QuickTime PRO and IDVD template

I have purchased Quicktime pro with the HOPE it will help me with this project. Maybe someone can advise. I want to take an iDVD template that I have created and new ones I will create from the iDVD program and save in a format (Quicktime I hope) that will PLAY on iWebsites that I am responsible for.

I'm not sure I understand. DVD templates aren't videos, they're a collection of graphics, layouts and other element that will be included as part of the programming of a video DVD, so they're not something that QuickTime Pro could do anything with. I don't know any way to easily extract the elements of any video DVD template for use on a web site. If what you're trying to do is recreate the look of a DVD on a web site, so that you have similar menus, navigation, etc., you're going to have to build it mostly from scratch using web programming tools. You might be able to extract some of the graphic elements, but that's about it, to the best of my knowledge.

IDVD templates on DVD Studio Pro

Hi. I just installed ilife 08 and iDVD has some nice looking templates that I would like to use, but iDVD doesnt give me all the options I have in DVD SP.
When I installed DVD SP from Final Cut Studio 2, I remember there was some sort of option related to iDVD templates into it, but I dont remember where it was or what I have to do to import the templates from iDVD into DVD SP.
Any idea on how to do this?

Use web template to open a report from a menu

Hi all,
I have created one web template where I have a role menu that shows all reports that are available to the user. When the user clicks on one of these reports, the report displays in a new window. So far everything is working fine.
But, I have also created another web template and I want the report that is displayed in a new window to use this template. How do I do this? I have been looking at the settings for the Role menu, but can't find anywhere to put the template name...
Anyone have any ideas?

Hello,
yes you can use the publish function, but only to add new entries.
In Transaction pfcg (not in WAD or BEx) in SAP GUI and then select your role at the tab "Menu" you can add/remove/maintain/organize your menu.
just click on a menu entry and take sth.like edit.
Then you will see a link if you didn#t find the string &template_id= the system will take the standard template (Tranaction spro), and you can easily add or change this parameter.

Link to PL/SQL procedure using a Template Manager template.

Hi,
I need to link a portal application report (report from SQL query) to a SQL procedure that uses a template manager template. The PL/SQL procedure requires parameters. I'm not be able to create a link based on a PL/SQL procedure. The only solution I found is to setup a link to a Form based on that procedure. But the form is only used to call the PL/SQL procedure by clicking the submit button and redirect to the template.
Another question:
Is it planed to support dynamic links based on column conditions?
I'm using Portal release 3.0.7.6.2.

Is it possible to display a date as (DD-MON-YYYY) in excel output using excel template in xml publisher where date should be displayed as date only not string.

I've tried to use hierarchy node variables, but it seems like you can't specify a attribute of the hierarchy such as level. So with the WBS hierarchy, if you create a hierarchy node variable, you specify the WBS value to select (If I understand this correctly). I wish I could instead specify "give me all the WBS nodes that happen to have the value of the level attribute greater or equal to 3. If I understand Juergens post, he is saying make security access so that only certain WBS levels can be returned in the query. I suppose we can try that, but that would then preclude getting the level 1 and 2 in the future if the authorization is global.

After upgrading to mountain lion, the movies I create using iDVD periodically stop then resume abruptly when I play them back on my DVD player. Any ideas on correcting this?

I know this is not much help. IDVD and Mountain Lion are working perfectly for me. I know many others that use Mountain Lion with iDVD also.
I think your problem lies elsewhere.

I did not have a DVD handy to burn but I have just created a small 2 minute video and created a Disk Image and also a VIDEO_TS folder, the encoding worked correctly, so it works with some items.
