Using idvd themes in imovie and photshop?

hi,
i would like to use idvd themes for the cover art of a dvd and sounds for imovie clips. therefore, i wanted to know if and how it's possible to find the image-file of an idvd theme so that i can import it into photoshop, as well if and how i can find the sound-file of an idvd theme so that i can use it in imovie. i would be happy if i can avoid using extra software like audio hijack pro etc. to extract the sound and graphics. is there's an easy way to find and use those files?
regards,
andi

You can look in the parcel contents, richt click or control click, than in the "contents" folder the "Recources" folder there you can find "tif" files.
Its a long list.

I have problems with my films that become slightly jerky after I have imported
and edited them in iMovie and then burned them onto a DVD using iDVD.
I can see the weak jerkiness when panning in both laterally
    and vertically.
I shoot with a camcorder Canon Vixia HF10. The camera has been set to deliver HD quality (1920x1080). But I have accidentally filmed with a frame rate of 60 (?).
When I import the films in iMovie I have been asked if I want to change to frame rate 30 (instead of 25). I have chosen 30.
Could it be the setting of a frame rate 60 in my camcorder that causes jerkiness when panning or what else?

  • Is there a way i can use the themes from imovie in final cut

i would like to use the themes in iMovie '11 (e.g. news theme) in my video in final cut.

You can't directly. You could make part of the video like the open in FCE and export it and then import it into FCE, but the themes don't apply to FCE.

  • How do you burn an iMovie project to a DVD without using iDVD themes?

I created a presentation (slide show with music) in iMovie and need to burn it to a DVD.  When I pull it into iDVD, it forces me to pick a theme which puts more music in.  I just want it the way I have it in iMovie!  How do I do that?

    (From fellow poster Mishmumken: )
How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.
    Hope this helps!

  • Using idvd themes in toast

Hi I had a problem with jumping discs in idvd and i had a copy of Toast 7 in my office so loaded it up on mac and burnt a copy of the dvd in question and it worked perfectly.
I read somewhere that you can use the themed menus from idvd and use them in Toast just wandering if this is possible and how to do it so that the menus can be functional..
    Many thanks Tim

I know your passionate about not using imovie 8 9 11 because its loss of quality ( discarding every second line ) but do you think it would effect the actuall burning of the disc?
My DVDs from iM'08 to 11 are noticable less quality - else I'd not make a fuzz about it
Aslo can i get hold of this imovie 6 you so strongly recommend?
Only as second-handed - try e-bay and to a rather high price. Still I like it.
But if You are migrating over to FCE/P then You got a much more powerfull tool.
Thanks for advise about having nothing on in the background I am always doing other things!
    I don't - I even turn on screen saver and a 100% black photo. Got a feeling
that this did not take longer but ev. slightly faster.
What about if I buy another external dvd burner do you think that will be better?
Mine are not (ForMac) - But brand of DVD is very important.
Also with my pc I use adobe prem ele 7 and i used to edit exactly the same stuff on it, it burns way quicker than mac and I never had a problem with my dvds. . .
Out of range Error - Does this PC-DVD look as good as iDVD done ones ? or even better ?
I am still learning final cut express 4 so maybe my life will change when I have that mastered.
GOOD Luck ! - I love it. - To me the need of an external FW hard disk (Mac OS Extended - formatted)
and the way to set up a project - and collect all scratch hard disk and material to this project
folder (on the external hard disk) was the largest "re-learning step" to me.

  • Using idvd transitions in imovie.

I would like to use the transitions that are found in idvd and add them to the choices of trasitions available to me in imovie. How do I locate those transition files being used in idvd program and move them to the imove program?
    I am using ilife 4.

    I doubt is possible.
But you can try and then post back here the results .
Right click the iDVD application, choose Show Package Contents, and then it's up to you to search for files that might be the transitions. Look for similar things in iMovie, and see if it works.
Be aware: back-up the two apps, so if you do something wrong you have a way back.

  • Using iPhoto theme in iMovie

Is it possible to create a iMovie project using iPhoto's theme? Since the iPhoto crashes when I tried to have 2xx photos exported but liking the theme in iPhoto so much... is there a way/workaround to do this?
Again, I understand that I can export the slideshow to .mov and then edit it in iMovie.. but *exporting 2xx photos just crashed iPhoto every single time*.
    Thank you, fellows! =)

I'm with you on this one! I just finished an iMovie project and had uploaded it to MobileMe to share with family. Well, just as families are, there were some holdouts to the "cloud" revolution who insisted they wanted a physical DVD to put in their DVD player. So when I go to share the iMovie with iDVD, I realize that all of the work I did in iMovie would still require an iDVD theme laid on top of it. Well, due to the NEW themes in iMovie '09, there were no matching themes in iDVD '08. Now my great iMovie project has a different looking iDVD home screen theme than the movie that plays.

  • Using iDVD themes

How do I import iDVD theme footage into DVD Studio Pro? I have no idea where the iDVD themes are even stored on my hard drive... I've looked, believe me.

In Finder, go to the iDVD icon in the Applications folder...then right-click (or control-click for the one-button mouse) and select "show package contents". You'll find the iDVD themes in Resources/Resources...but I'm not sure about importing iDVD theme footage into DVDSP. The documentation seems to indicate that you can if using iDVD versions prior to iDVD5, but I've never tried it.

  • Using iDVD themes in Motion?

Has anyone ever figured out a way to make use of iDVD themes in Motion? There are several that would make nice elements for other projects.

    not that I know of...

  • Re-authorizing when using purchased songs in iMovie and iDVD

    Hi!
Since I upgraded to the lastest iTunes, I have to reauthorize every time I use a purchased song in an iMovie project (or iDVD). And, even as i reauthorize the song, the song is omitted from the project. I guess this is a major bug. Any news on a fix for this??
    Thanks!
    Thomas Engstedt

Hi Ken and welcome to Apple!
You should not have a major problem. The AVI files should (repeat should) be recognized by iMovie. If not, conversion should (I love the certainty of that word!) be easy.
An iMac will do all you ask, but I recommend not less that 1GB of RAM.
At this stage, go get your iMac, and try to import the AVI files into iMovie. If that is not successful post back!
Remember: iMovie expects to be 'fed' by digital video through a firewire connection.
Any more questions, we are here to help!

  • My iDVD Themes wont load and the program shuts down shortly after I choose a selection.

It's acting like it doesnt know where to look for the themes but I have deleted everything and tried to reinstall three times and it still doesnt work. It's from iLife 09. iMovie works just find but again when I try to burn to iDVD it looks for themes and shuts down.

Have you run Disk Utility to repair disk permissons after installing?  Check in the Library/Application Support folder to see if there's an iDVD folder with a Themes folder inside.  If not check in the ~/Library/Application Support folder.
When you find them open iDVD, go to it's Advnaced preference pane and point iDVD to the location of the themes folder.

  • How to use idvd themes in fcp?

    hello everyone,
anyone here know how i can use/import the themes from idvd and put pictures in it so i can put it in the fcp timeline like the templates in motion?thanks!

I am not sure if you can just import them as such, you may need to 'recreate' them in Motion. There is a way which is a bit complex, maybe someone else have a more refined and elegant way. The only thing that comes to my mind is to place my images in iDVD and finalise the title sequence. Then I would burn a DVD (or create a Disk image) and then dub this DVD on tape and re-capture or use one of the rippers to extract the DVD content. This is what comes to my mind, otherwise, it may be simpler to recreate it in Motion.
    Hope that helps.

  • Using iDVD themes for commercial DVDs?

If I produce a DVD with iDVD using one of the standard themes can I sell the DVD without copyright problems?

    John,
You can read over the SLA http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iLife11.pdf
I went through it and the only thing I found relating to this topic is MPEG-2 for only consumer use.
    Hope this helps.

  • Used Quicktime to export iMovie and play on a TV, but getting audio codec error

I created an iMovie 11 project and exported it using Quicktime as a HD movie to play on a one year old Samsung big screen TV. The movie file ended in .mov, which the TV would not recognize, so I changed the extension to .mpg and the video plays fine.
The problem I have is that during the first 3 or 4 seconds of the movie, I get an error pop up on the TV screen that the audio codec is not supported, obviously newer than the TV, right?
So I updated the TV to the latest firmware via Samsung's website and that all went as expected. However, the error message is still there.
The movie is made up completely of still images, so there is no audio to detach, and I can find no other settings to disable the audio portion of the movie.
Anyone run into this before and be able to share some advice, please?

I found that these audio codecs are supported:
    AC3
    LPCM
    ADMPCM (MA, MS)
    AAC
    HE-AAC
    WMA
    DD+
    MPEG (MP3)
    DTS Core
    Voris
