Using iHome with 2nd Generation iPod Touch

My iPod is being serviced right now so I can't check it now. I want to know if a 2nd generation iPod Touch will work through a iHome. I have tried listening to my iPod through a docking base attached to stereo but it only play through the iPod speakers. Will this happen with the iHome? I know that some people said that it will play though the external speakers if something isn't plugged into the headphones jack, will this happen with the iHome also?
Thanks,
dukegirl90

I don't mind if it doesn't charge but will it play through the iHome speakers or the iPod Touch internal speakers? A while ago I tried plugging my iPod into the docking base I have then plugging the docking base into the stereo with the auxilary cord I have and it would only play through the iPod Touch speakers. It would work fine if I had the charging usb cable hooked up to the wall adapter and the auxilary cord hooked up to the iPod headphones jack.
Will this happen with the iHome?

Numark im1 works with 2nd generation ipod touch can it be made to work with 4th generation

You neglected to mention that the Numark iM1 is a piece of hardware (a physical box) that plugs into an iPod.
Checking on the Numark website, I suspect they haven't bothered to update their "iPod compatibility" page, since there's no specific reason (as far as I'm aware) why an App that worked with a 2nd gen Touch shouldn't work with a 4th gen model. Is that page where you looked and were then prompted to ask your question?
You might have more success in finding an answer to your question by contatcing the manufacturer (Numark) via their website or checking with a retailer who stocks the iM1. Numark appear to welcome email contact about their products.

  • Messaging app that works with 2nd generation ipod touch

I recently downloaded imessenger to my 2nd generation ipod touch but it was hours later and with the help of this forum, that I discovered it is not possible to use with my iOS.  Does anyone know of a texting app that I can use?

  • 2nd Generation Ipod Touch Uses

    Greetings
I want to buy a new iPod mp3 player (for less than 100$) and am not interested in playing the game of participating in persistent product obsolescence = Having to purchase a new iThing every 2 years for continued iOS update relevance.
2nd Generation iPod Touches are becoming quite affordable for me, especially if you can fix something easy like the digitizer. This may be intriguing to me.
I have read countless forums about people who are very upset about losing the ability to be engaged with the AppWorld due to their product iOS becoming obsolete. I AM NOT fueling that fire and have already learned about all that.
What I want to know is what DOES work on an obsolete iPod Touch 2nd Generation.
I use a PC with iTunes for my music, and would like to load my music from my PC onto this iPod Touch consistantly.
Is it safe to assume that despite being an old iOS, it still can function the following:
    - an iTunes/mp3 player
    - videos
    - internet via wifi
    - others?
    Thanks

There are still some apps that work with iOS 4.2.1 and a 2G iPod

  • Troubles with ITunes for 2nd Generation Ipod Touch.

My boyfriend bought me a new 2nd Generation Ipod touch for Xmas and I installed Itunes on my computer. It worked, but when I try to transfer songs over to the Touch it wont allow me, and shows a circle with a cross in it. I have it on manually sync music to Ipod touch and still it doesn't work. I tried using the itunes help menu but it failed me and didn't work either.
Could someone please help me? I have Windows XP, and the computer type is LG I believe. Any helpful info can be sent to [email protected] or too this thread. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

  • 2nd generation ipod touch won't connect with iTunes store through macbook

    Hello all,
So I decided I wanted to use my 2nd generation iPod touch for the first time in a long while so I tried to use it and it was just a slug. I figured I didn't care about any of the data on it so I went to settings and pushed "erase all data and settings." It did its thing then rebooted to tell me to connect to iTunes. I did, and iTunes just says "iTunes could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection was lost." I'm 99% certain this is not an issue with my firewall as I can connect to the store myself and my firewall allows iTunes through. iTunes just does nothing with the iPod. It sees that it is there and will let me eject it and that's it. Is Apple just done supporting the earlier iPods? Any solutions are greatly appreciated!!

Yeah this doesn't help. I resolved the keychain issue, didn't help. I know those ports aren't blocked, and the device can't be troubleshot because the only thing it will do is tell me to plug it into itunes.

  • 2nd Generation Ipod Touch Sync issue with Apps.

I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch and Itunes says that I have 6 apps that need to be updated. But when I go to the Itunes app area and try to update it says there is not updates. How do I determine which apps are causing the issue? What can I do to reset the number? Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks!  Dave

My guess is that those Apps require iOS 4.3 or later, which a 2nd generation Touch cannot install.
So the notification in iTunes (programme on your computer) will say there are updates to the Apps, because there are. However, since your iPod cannot use them, if you look at the App Store App on your iPod, those Apps won't be (shouldn't be) listed. Occasionally, I think they do get added to the notification number showing in the Apps Store icon on the iPod. I currently have two Apps like that.
    Important:
What you should not do must not do is update the Apps in your iTunes Library (on the computer). If you do, then your next Sync of the iPod Touch to your iTunes Library will remove the App from your iPod and you will lose the App.
My advice is that you ignore the notification number in your Apps Store App icon. It is no longer accurate or even meaningful. Instead, go to the Apps section of your iTunes Library and click on the X updates Available message. That will take you to the Store and list the updateable Apps. Unfortunately, you will need to check each one individually for it's Requirements. If it now requires iOS 4.3 or later - or an iPod Touch 3rd generation running iOS 4.2.1, do not download it. I think that now, every update will require iOS 4.3 or iOS 5, so there will probably be no Apps that you can update. If you do find one, you can update just that individual one by selecting Update as shown below.
I'm in the same boat as you:
Unfortunately, far too many people simply rant on about this, so that it's impossible to get together and lobby Apple to modify this so that those of us with older iPods can continue to use older versions of the Apps. They (Apple) appear to have forgotten that if an existing customer is not in a position to replace their aging iPod with the latest one, then that customer may no longer be able to use an App - thus losing the App's designer his/her customers.
I can see that their thinking is obviously; "the customer will buy a newer iPod because they want to have the latest iPod/they want to continue to use their Apps".
Hhhmmm! Not in the real world!

  • HT1353 Can I download i OS 5 onto my 2nd generation iPod touch? I would like it to link with iCloud from my iPad 2 for music. Is that possible please?

Can I download i OS 5 onto my 2nd generation iPod touch? Is it possible to get my iPad music via iCloud onto the iPod 2nd generation? If yes, please can you tell me how? Thanks

You can download purchases from itunes as long as they still carry them.  they may not be available forever.
All of your music and everything esle should be on your computer and backed up with your regular backup copy of your computer.
You can download most itunes purchases on ipad, ipod touch and iphone.
I see no reason to have an ipod and an iphone.
If your ipad/iphone/ipod crash you would have to restore using itunes on your computer.
I would not reccommend using an iphone ipod/ipad without a computer.

2nd generation ipod touch is pretty much no good anymore?  It is not able to upgrade to iOS5.1 and so will not work with many Apps in the iTunes store?  Is there a way to find out if the App will work before you download?

Look to the app developer to provide that information when browsing the iTunes Store.
The iPod Touch still works, so what's your problem with it? It still works with older apps, it still does what it's intended to do.
If you aren't happy then sell it and buy a new one.

    You can try:
    - reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off an then backon your router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
