Using iMac as display from Mini with Windows 7

Have a Mac Mini with Bootcamp and Windows 7 SP1. When it was intially installed, it was attached to an iMac with a thunderbolt cable and Command-F2 worked to switch the display over. However Windows on the Mini then downloaded and installed all the various patches, and now Command-F2 doesn't do anything. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I appreciate your response. I have read that a Mac running Windows with Bootcamp can use TDM, so I expected it would be a matter of installing proper drivers, but, unless anybody else has had some success, I think I'm about ready to admit defeat.
I appreciate you proposing a software solution, however, ScreenRecycler only supports using a Windows PC as another display, not the other way around. I did play around with a couple other software solutions, but none of these solutions would work well once my work PC is connected to VPN.
I guess I'll continue to work off a small laptop screen while a giant 27-inch screen on the same desk goes unused. Very frustrating.

make sure to get the right converter thou. If you want to connect your ps3 (example) via hdmi, there is a difference between a "minidisplayport to hdmi" and a "hdmi to minidisplayport". If you want to get input via hdmi you will need the "hdmi to minidisplayport" converter.

And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, the video standard for high-resolution displays, any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port. To connect a DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA display, just use an existing adapter.

Thanks for your reply. Realtek audio works only in playback. There is a stereo mix in the mixer but the recording controls are not operable with no sliders in the mixer for any recording option. Slider controls appear to be grayed out. Can't figure out how to enable them. Downloaded newest drivers to no avail.
The M Audio control panel has no apparent option for recording stereo mix. Adobe ignores the sound from the DVD or CD and shows flatline.
I'm trying to record the sound from the DVD not rip the track.
When I go to Audio Driver Setup and select Audition 3.0 windows sound, there is no input device installed.
I'm thinking of going back to a decent internal Soundblaster card like I have on my 8 year old machine I am replacing.

We bought a new pc with Windows Vista 64 bit - but are now having problems using my Photoshop Elements6 and Premiere Elements 4 with our new pc. it says on the box and on the web - that it is compatible with Vista - so why isn't it working for us? Do i need to buy something else - and if so what?

I am not sure completely about Photoshop Elements - but my main issue is with Premiere Elements....i need to find a program that will work so i can work with all my videos. Trying to find out why it doesn't work or how to get it to work.

You can use an iPhone (if your carrier supports it) as a personal hotspot for your iPad and use the phone's cellular connection to go online with your iPad - your iPad will see the phone as a wifi network.
If you are asking if you can share an internet connection from a wifi-only iPad then you can't, only cellular models potentially allow you to share its connection with other devices/computers.

But now I notice that my LR directory of folders in Library view does not show images correctly: If there is a folder with sub-folder(s), the folder will indicate 0 images, but the sub-folders show the proper number of images. What happened and is there a fix? I tried uninstalling Lightroom and re-installing, but problem persists.

1. Install PSE 11 in windows, upgrade your catalog, then make a full backup to a removable drive, like a usb drive, using the organizer's back up command. If you buy the boxed version you get discs for both platforms.
2. Install PSE on the mac.
3. Restore the backup to the mac. Point the restore to the .tly file in the folder, not the enclosing folder.

Probably won't work. You can buy a full license for CS6 which is already two versions and soon to be three out of date or you can subscribe to Creative Cloud.

can I hook my early 2008 24" Core 2 Duo iMac to a new Mac Mini to use as a display?
I love the display, but my iMac is getting too slow, even with the maximally upgraded RAM to 4 GB. I don't want to get rid of my iMac, so I was thinking of buying a Mac Mini to attach it.
I'm worried that the OS X Yosemite will make my iMac even slower.
Any suggestions?

Enable s-video and/or multiple displays on ThinkPad with Windows 7

I have a T41 Think pad notebook. I now have Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.
I want to use the s-video output to transfer video to a TV and watch it there.
I connect the s-video cable but cannot find how to get the s-video output enabled or get a second monitor if that is the way to do it. When I start the computer it does not note a second monitor and cannot find one with checking screen reolustion.
Going to Lenovo Thnkpad support there are help areas that say to go to display properties and walk through the steps to add a 2nd monitor on the settings tab and also use the special driver for my ATI Radeon 9000 card to enable the s-video. In windows 7, unlike XP, the adapter is a generic display adapter and the display a generic vga display and does not have the ability to use the old settings tab from prior Windows or the ATI driver special settings. I tried to get the newest driver from Radeon but it is now very generic too and when I try to install it I am told it will not work, so I am uncertain how to update my display driver and get more than the display being recognized as a generic plug and play vga monitor.
How do I get to a second monitor and/or enable s-video?
Nothing seems to happen when I plug in the s-video cable.
Using the function key plus F7 used to be how to get output to a projector or display, etc. with Windows XP. This does not seem to do anything now when you attach the s-video. Of course I had to wipe the drive when I upgraded. Is there some Lenovo software I am missing?
I do not see the s-video port listed as a device in the device manager as I was going to try to test it.
I understand how to connect the cables and have them so the sites that sell cables for connections have been no help as they do not say much about Windows 7 except update your display driver.
I tried to connect the s-video, right click on the desktop, select screen resolution, try to detect the other monitor, all as described in the “Guided Help Dual Monitor Setup is easy in Windows 7” but there was no detection and no change.
Any ideas?

HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Premium will not fax from computer with Windows 8

My printer worked great on Win XP and I could fax directly from the printer or from the computer. I installed Windows 8 32 bit (I'm running an older system that works fine for everything I use it for -thank you very much), and downloaded the latest greatest HP driver & software for Win 8 32 bit. Everything works perfectly, except faxing from the computer.
If I run the fax test from the printer, the fax test PASSES. If I run the fax test from the computer, the fax test PASSES.
If I put documents in the printer feeder and use the printer fax functions, it faxes beautifully.
It is only when I fax from the computer, the screen pops up with a status of spooling, then the status turns to Cancelled every time.
It always worked on Win XP.
The FAX printer and FAX driver for the FAX printer showed up in Control Panel automatically when I installed the updated drivers/software from HP. All the properties on the FAX printer look good.
I tried a usb connection, and a network ethernet connection, with the same results.
Printing and scanning all work fine. I really like this printer, and I would like it even more if I could figure out how to get it to fax a document from the computer.
When I say fax from the computer, I mean opening a document, saying Print, selecting Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910, filling in the fax information page, selecting my cover page options, and pressing the send fax. All just like I used to do before I upgraded to Win 8. When I hit send fax, that is when I get the popup that the fax is spooling, then it goes to cancelled. No error codes are displayed, no clues as to why, no nothing. If I print the document and put it in the printer document feeder, I can fax it using the printer display screen no problem.
Very bizarre.

Alright, I spoke with some of the engineers and they suggested the next few steps. First, here is a thread on an MS forum about removing a driver in an alternate fashion.

Another thing to note is that in Win8 you can easily access the Command Prompt by hitting the windows key and typing “command prompt.”
Additionally, I will PM you some further steps on removing the vestiges of the software from the back-end of your PC. You will HAVE to be sure to follow those instructions to the letter.
Do these two things and let me know what happens after you install the printer again from the direct download link I have already provided above.

I need help getting my Thunderbolt display to work with Windows 7 through Bootcamp.

I recently bought a thunderbolt display and it works great in my Mac environment. But I recently added Bootcamp and Windows 7 (I need since my Broker Dealer only uses Internet Explorer). Unfortunately, I can't seem to get Windows to recognize my Thunderbolt display. Today, I spent 2 hours with a very kind advisor from Apple Support but we didn't have any success.
Here's my setup:
MacBook Pro (purchased new in 2011) with i7 processor
Thunderbolt Display
Lion OS (all updates installed)
Bootcamp with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (all updates installed)
With the help of Apple Support, I downloaded and reinstalled (through the repair option) all the Bootcamp drivers. I shut down my computer, plugged in the Thunderbolt display, turned it on and booted into Windows 7. When the Windows Welcome screen appears, it shows on my Thunderbolt display for about 2-3 seconds. But the thunderbolt quickly goes black. My MacBook Pro changes to a 640x480 resolution and the Thunderbolt remains blacked out--with no signs of even a single flicker. Once the computer finishes the start-up, my MacBook Pro remains in a 640x480 resolution, with no option to change the resolution (it's grayed out in Windows control panel). If I unplug the Thunderbolt cable from my MacBook pro, the high resolution of my MacBook pro snaps back to normal.
To me, this seems like some type of driver problem but I must be missing something simple because it appears that Thunderbolt works with Bootcamp and Windows 7--based on some of the readings I've found here in the Apple support community. I'm most appreciative of anyone's help here.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I ultimately want to get a PS3 and use my iMac to display it. It runs HD video from eyetv and downloads fine.

I use one of these
