Using iMessage
Is there a way to iMessage using ipad2 with all of the contacts on my iPhone? Some of them say that they are not registered with iMessage and therefore it won't send the message.
If you want to be able to text to all your contacts on iPad, there are apps for that. I use TextFree (a free app in the App Store). They'll assign a cell number to you, from which you'll be able to text all your contacts. You'll just have to let people know the text number they'll be seeing messages from......

TechCrunch posted a solution today that applies to this problem, I think.

My phone won't let me use imessage in a group chat
I have an iPhone 5 and after updating to iOS 8 my group chat only is not letting me use imessage it is only letting me use text message. I've gone to settings> messages > send& receive and I see that my apple ID is in use and imessage is turned on but my cell phone number has a check mark next to it but it is grey and it wont let me click it. Please help me. In any other case it wouldn't be a big deal but my school has no service, so If I need to contact my friends in this chat I cannot. Thank you!
Can you use iMessage in this chat when you're not at school? If you're using your school's wifi, it's possible iMessage is blocked.

I updated to yosemite and now if someone is using imessage and sends a text message to my phone it doesn't show up on my phone but does on my computer. I don't want messages on my computer! How do I get this to go away and work like it used to?

Hold c and boot off your Snow Leopard install disk and second screen in under the Utilities menu is Reset Password.
There is also a Single User mode (caution root user!) way to reset passwords on each account.

Check to see if iMessage is "ON"
If it is "ON" then log in with your Apple ID
IF NOT:
Enable iMessage
Enable SMS under the iMessage Settings
Log in with Apple ID
You should be able to use iMessage after this. -
I am trying to completely turn off imessage. Although I do turn it off in settings, under messages, and when I attempt to send a message it is asking me to input my apple id and will then proceed to turn imessage back on. Too many of my clients do not have apple products. Someone help!

That is because the iPad can only text using iMessage. -
I am trying to use imessage and everyone I am trying to send to I keep getting a message that they are not registered with imessage. They all have iphones and I know for a fact they are all registered. I have tried all the trouble shooting steps I have found so far. I made sure my imessage is turned on and set under my apple id and email, I'm connected to wifi. etc... I can use facetime but can not message anyone. Thanks in advance for you help

Sign in with whatever Apple ID desired on the device in iMessage setup.

When can I use iMessage? How do I restrict it to only use iMessage?
I have to pay 30 cents per text, which is a ripoff, and pretty much everyone I know uses an iPhone or iPod touch, so I want to just use iMessage with them. For some reason, though, I can only sometimes send iMessages to iOS users. I can never send them to my friend, who has an iPhone 4 running iOS 5. I can typically send iMessages to my parents but not always, it sometimes only lets me send by paid SMS. They definitely have iMessage enabled. Maybe I'm not choosing the right address to send it to?
So are you supposed to enter someone's phone number, and it'll know whether or not they have iOS and use iMessage if they have it, or do you have to enter their email address that they set as their iMessage address?
Also, is there a way to just force it to only use iMessage? I don't really want to send or receive paid text messages under any circumstance. Come on, 30 cents to send a few bytes is ridiculous.I tried that, thinking it was exactly what I wanted, but it still sends stuff as SMS (green bubble).

I would like to set up my daughters Itouches on my Itunes account so I can manage them. Will we be able to use imessages between my iphone and the two itouches if they are all registered to the same apple id? I tried to put a different email for the itouch but it will not allow me to send a message. Would appreciate any help! How does this all work? Or will they need thier own apple id and itunes account? I am hoping not as it is much easier to manage all the devices and music from one account! :-) Thanks!!

Yes, use separate iCloud accounts. You can still share the same ID for purchases though, or use Family Share for purchases.

Look into using Apple Configurator. It's the easiest way to "reimage" and Manage iPads that I know of right now.
