hello,i need to use my new intel imac for live radio broadcasting,how do i do this??????...my mate who runs the server says i download winamp the shoutcast,can get shoutcast but winamp wont download properly,all i get is a picture which is blank of the file
can i use itunes????..or summit else??

How to use Premiere Pro for live shoots (newbie needing some answers)

My school is about to delve into the world of live streaming. We have a homemade Tricaster setup of sorts which allows for us to use three camcorders through as switcher which allows for some nice streaming capabilities.
My question is, how do I use Premiere Pro, or something else, to run live titles/graphics, etc. into the production? You know, things like lower thirds, etc.?
Is this as simple as running another computer into a source on the switcher? If so, how do I get the graphics etc. to appear as simple key pages?
Sorry, I've never used Adobe during a live shoot before.
I'd love for someone in the know to explain the workflow here. Thank you so much!
I'd also be interested in knowing best practices for running b-roll into the switcher. PP again? Same computer as the graphics or a seperate one?

Using the iMac for display only?

I bought an iMac in 2008. I use it for the majority of my computing needs, and for the most part is serves my purposes for everything. One thing I would like though is more gaming power.
I have a PC tower that is not connected to anything at the moment and needs a little hardware work which I will do myself.
Since the iMac is not user upgradable, and the video/graphics card is not upgradable at all, I was curious if I was able to connect the PC tower to the iMac's screen and use it as a display for a gaming computer and disconnect the tower for regular computing.
While I'm asking, is there any external way to improve the graphics card for gaming that anyone is aware of?

...Its too bad the graphics card is not upgradeable. I'm also going to try and find out if there is some sort of external way to increase performance....
This is the inherent issue with all "all-in-ones", both laptops and desktops, both PCs and Macs. For the most part, they are not upgradable. You can replace HD and RAM, but pretty much everything else "is what it is" and upgrades are "external only." Don't hold your breath that you'll find any way to increase performance (video or CPU.)
In the long run, you may want to consider just selling the iMac and get a new Mac. A Mini or Mac Pro, both of which do not have built-in monitors so would require you to get a monitor anyway, then you could KVM it with the PC. (I have my Mini KVMed with a Dell Poweredge server, which is sitting under my desk.) Alternatively, the new 27" iMac does allow for video input so it could be used as a monitor for the PC.

How to use Phone camera for live streaming rather than using WireCast camera in Live streaming using Azure Media Services

I have gone through the below sample and am able to stream the live content using wireacst camera.

But i want to use Phone camera to stream the live video rather using wirecast camera.
How can i use that? How to get the published URL from the C# code, is there any API to get that?

Hello,
There are no in box components that will allow you to transmit captured video from a Windows Phone device to Azure Media Services. You will need to create you own implementation. You can do this by creating a custom Media Foundation sync that can plug into
the MediaCapture element's pipeline. You will then need to modify the captured and compressed video to align to one of the two protocols that Azure Media services can use. At this time Azure Media services can use either Smooth Streaming or RTMP for ingestion.
You will need to create your own packager (or find compatible packager code from a 3rd party) to package the MP4 encoded data into the necessary format.
Here is an example of how to create a custom Media Foundation sync (please note you must write your Media Foundation components using C++ MoCOM. We do not support Media Foundation components written in managed languages):

Using the iMac for Sound...?

Fellow Mac enthusiasts,
I am currently playing Xbox 360 on an old CRT moniter next to iMac, using a vga adapter. The Problem is I dont have any sound. So in theory couldnt i plug in the the digital audio cable that comes from the 360's Sound ( same size as the audio in port on the iMac/iPod headphone size) into the iMac's audio in slot, usually used for microphones, but just plug it in and use a program to just play the sound? Get what im saying?

HT1420 I've not used my iMac for some time and the password has been forgotten. How do I re-start?

I bought the iMac some 18 months ago and it was set up be a system administrator who has since left the company. I want to start using it again, but no-one knows the password.
I've tried inserting the Install DVD but the system immediately asks for the original password.
How do I overcome this?

Anyone using an iMac for Photoshop?

If so, what are you using as a scratch disk?
The reason I ask is that I hear a lot of photographers are now using iMacs to do their image editing in Photoshop. The new iMacs are almost as fast as the old-design Mac Pro's and a lot less expensive than the upcoming "black trash can" Mac Pro.
But knowing that in order to run decent, Photoshop requires a scratch disk on a separate HDD or SDD than the application drive, I hesitate to buy a new iMac. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've always made it a point to purchase the top of the line graphics card when I've purchased an iMac. It is the one thing that is involved in giving maximum performance to Photoshop and other video related apps that cannot be updated later.
I've found that with the 3TB Fusion drive I really don't need to use a secondary drive for the cache. I currently set the cache to the internal hard drive and I keep all of my photos on the external T-bolt drive and it seems to run very smoothly but I didn't notice a slowdown when the cache and photos were on two different external T-bolt drives.

Using an iMac for Photoshop editing

Hi. I'm a photographer and have been using a 17" MacBook Pro for the last 5 years and doing all my Photoshop editing on it. The MacBook has served me well but has developed a hardware issue and requires a new logic board. Rather than sink $500 or so into the repair I am considering spending a little more and upgrading to a slightly newer used 21.5" iMac. It's a mid 2010 model. Are there any Photoshop users out there that have been using iMacs and are happy (or unhappy) w/ the performance of their machines in regard to image editing? I'm particularly concerned about image quality as displayed on the iMac screen. Thanks for any feedback anyone cares to offer.

Dual core 3.06 GHz processor
8 GB Ram
500 GB 7200 RPM HD
256 MB VRAM

I use PS CS3 on a 2009, 27 inch iMac with the same CPU and GPU specs and I am not having any issues.
I have a 1 TB HD installed, though.
If you purchase this iMac, I would increase the RAM to the max. 16 GBs of RAM.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
Photoshop likes fast CPU, lots of RAM and lots of hard drive space for scratch disk areas.
The GPU while not that impressive, but serviceable for 3D and video work, will be more than fine for 2D Photoshop work.

Using intel iMac OS 10.6.8 when streaming progress stops and will not continue

When streaming a video there is progress bar that is gray and moves to the right in advance of the small vertical bar that shows the position of the program at that moment. Sometimes the grey bar stops moving then when the vertical bar reaches the end of the grey bar the streaming stops. And I can't make the gray bar advance.

Weird hyroglyphic data on safari pages using Intel Imac

Hey guys, sometimes when I am using Safari, I get really strange hyroglyphic type symbols which should be just plain text on the page. These are really quite small symbols that almost look japanese. Any clue? I have recently just updated the most recent safari too....
