Using intermedia search on file system

I know it is possible to intermedia index documents stored on a file system.
Is it possible to integrate this search into the standard search facility in portal ?
ps, we don't want to use ifs in this case.

Intermedia only indexes documents stored in the database - today. Look for a new feature in the Oracle9i Database that extends Intermedia indexing to file system-based content. In the meantime, check out our search partners Verity, Autonomy and Altavista and their portlets at: http://www.oracle.com/portals/partners/ppi/index.html?comp1.html

    is this supported?

    Hi Owen,
We have experienced the exact identical errors when installing 10g R2 on the same o/s version.
We tested a bypass of that error by clicking continue on the error window and let the install 'complete'.
We then attempted to start an existing 10.1.0.4 instance and the error libkaio.so.1 not found occurred. I then ldd oracle and discovered the /usr/libaio.so.1 was not found. It turns out we downloaded and installed the libaio_64 rpm then executed relink all. The link completed successfully and we were able to start the instance then manually upgrade it to 10.2.0.1.
It's my feeling that the lib file versions (32 vs 64 bit) play a roll in th eerrors occurring during this new install.
We are opening a TAR about the install errors regarding rmem an wmem kernel parameters and the swap space requirements documented and the associated error.
This forum by the way has a faster time to discussion than Metalink does!

  • How increase external disk size used for an existing file system, Solaris10

    Configuration:
    Server: Sun T5220
    S/O: Solaris 10 5/08 s10s_u5wos_10 SPARC
    Storage: EMC AX4-5
    EMC PowerPath: PowerPath Version 5.2
    I have the following scenario:
In AX4-5 storage array, I created two LUNs into RAID Group 10, with Raid Type1/0:
    LUN 101: 20Gb
    LUN 102: 10Gb
Both LUNs were added to Storage Group (SG1) that includes two Servers (Server1 and Server2); both servers have Operating System Solaris 10 5/8 and Power Path.
The servers detect both LUNs across two paths. With Power Path were created a virtual path (emcpower0a, emcpower1a) to access to each LUNs respectively.
    We have mounted two file system /home/tes1 over emcpower0a -> LUN101 and /home/tes2 over emcpower1a -> LUN102.
Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on
    /dev/dsk/emcpower0a 20G 919M 19G 5% /home/test1
    /dev/dsk/emcpower1a 10G 9G 1G 90% /home/test2
I want to increase the space in file system /home/test2, without lost the information that I have stored and using the same LUN, LUN 102. To do this I start with the following steps:
1-     Create new LUN, LUN 103 with 15Gb into RAID Group 10. Result: OK, I have available space in RAID Group 10.
2-     Add LUN 103 to LUN 102, using concatenation option. Result: OK. This action creates a new metaLUN with the same characteristics of LUN 102, but with new space of 25Gb.
After to do these actions, I want to know how Solaris recognize this new space. What I need to do, to increase the size of file system /home/test2 to 25 Gb. Is that possible?
I reviewed the description of each disk using format command, and the disks not have any change.
Could anyone help me? If you need more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me.
    Thanks in advance.

Robert, thank a lot for your know how. You helped me to clarify some doubts. To complete your answer, I will add two more details, based on my experience.
After to execute, type -> auto configure and label, the disk was created with different partitions like root, swap, usr, like this:
    Volume name = < >
    ascii name = <DGC-RAID10-0223 cyl 49150 alt 2 hd 32 sec 12>
    pcyl = 49152
    ncyl = 49150
    acyl = 2
    nhead = 32
    nsect = 12
Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
    0 root wm 0 - 682 128.06MB (683/0/0) 262272
    1 swap wu 683 - 1365 128.06MB (683/0/0) 262272
    2 backup wu 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    6 usr wm 1366 - 49149 8.75GB (47784/0/0) 18349056
    7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
This was not convenient because all information stored appear in the first slice and growfs not work if appear root or swap slice into the disk, for that reason was necesary to recreate manually every slice with partition command. The final result was this:
Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
    0 unassigned wm 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    1 unassigned wu 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    2 backup wu 0 - 49149 9.00GB (49150/0/0) 18873600
    3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    6 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
    7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
Now, execute again the label command to save the new information.
    Mount file system and execute:
growfs –M file_system mount_point to expand the file system to 9Gb.

  • Searching The File System

When I use spotlight or the search feature in finder it never finds the files I am searching for. I even put a test file on my desktop, then used both spotlight and finders search feature and they don't find it.
What am I missing? This should be simple.

You may need to re-index the drive. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on troubleshooting Spotlight issues.

  • How can I search a file system and only return newer files?

Sorry the title didn't give me much room to work with. I'm writing a tool which needs to track all the files in an OS. What I'd like to do is make it so my program will only return files that have been modified/created since the last search to add to my program. I was wondering if there's an efficient way to do this other than checking each file's timestamps? Also is there a way to tell from a parent directory whether any files in its directory have been modified/created? I'm looking for ways for Windows and Linux.

I have no problem checking timestamps but it can be rather time consuming doing this. I don't know if this is quicker but I'd like to sort by modified date and check the time stamps for newer timestamps than the last time I ran. This way if I hit a time stamp equal to my last run I know to stop there. I checked Windows and the folder does tell you whether any file was created/modified in it's directory. However, if a file is created in one of its children's directories it won't update the time stamp. It's unfortunate because I could've avoided the search at a higher level directory otherwise. Without this I'll have to walk the whole structure one way or another. I can still improve the speed but I can't make it as efficient as I'd like.

  • RAC using templates /u01 corrupt file system

    Hi,
newbie to the forum - please be gentle ;o)
Trying to install RAC using virtualbox and templated. Get to the point of just before first boot interview when vnc'd into the virtual machines. But the boot fails with a corrupt /u01. ANyone had corrupt /u01 before ? How to stop it happening ? I tried to continue by using "fsck -a" but it would not allow automatic fix. So I tried manually going through each error ( but there are thousands ). Also tried taking /u01 out of fstab to get first interview. But then the installed failed after doing buildcluster.sh due to same issue ( corrupt /u01 ).
Have tried creating new VMs - always getting corrupt /u01.
    Any thoughts / ideas welcome.
    Thanks.

    Arf,
I am new to RAC. I analyzed Alejandro's script. He is main connection is to the first instance; then through sql*plus, he gets connected to the second instance. he exits the second instance and starts with RMAN backup to the database . Therefore the backup to the database is done from the first instance.
I do not see where he setenv again to change to the second instance to run RMAN to backup the second instance. It looks to me that the backup is only done to the first instance, but not to the second instance. I may be wrong, but I do not see the second instance backup.
Kindly, I request your assistance on the steps/connection to backup the second instance. Thank you so much!! Terry

  • How to create a 2 digit (gigabyte) file system to be used for 3 digit tiny size files and not running out of inodes

I have a 83Gb file system that apparently is not full, but its actually full, because I have run out of inodes, and I have 10 million files in there, so I want to create another that will cater for this inode issue. My question is if I use the
    newfs -T
option will it work? As its only going to be 90Gb?

You use probably a UFS file system, right ? Then in this case, use the "-i" option with a value less as 8192. 8192 is the default value for a UFS filesystem that is between 3GB and 1 TB size.
But if you want to store 10M of files, UFS will be limited to 1M per TB : 64-bit: Support of MultiterabyteUFS File Systems (System Administration Guide: Devices and File Systems)
In this case, use instead UFS a ZFS filesystem that supports 2^48 entries !!!

  • Is it possible to install OL6.2 with UEK using btrfs root file system?

Can we use btrfs for root file system with Oracle Linux?
If yes - how to install it? (OL6.2 installer doesn't offer btrfs within the available file systems).

For what it's worth, I tried the following, which worked:
    host: vm022
    cd /etc/yum.repos.d
    rm public-yum*
    wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ol6.repo
    +Edit public-yum-ol6.repo and enable [ol6_UEK_latest]+
    yum update kernel-uek
    yum install btrfs-progs
The system was successfully updated to UEK2 - 2.6.39-100
Boot the system form Fedora 15 Live CD and open a terminal. Enter the following:
    su - root
    yum install btrfs-progs
    lvscan
    btrfs-convert /dev/vg_vm022/lv_root
    (conversion complete)
    mount /dev/vg_vm022/lv_root /mnt
Edit /mnt/etc/fstab and change the root volume filesystem from ext4 to btrfs
    umount /mnt
    reboot
Start from the OL6.2 DVD in rescue mode. Select continue to let if find the existing Linux system and drop into the shell
    chroot /mnt/sysimage
    modprobe btrfs
    lsmod | grep btrfs

So assume you have a folder in an external hard drive called "Documents" and you can browse all files normally with Finder. The minute you type anything in the Finder's search box, all files disappear regardless of what you have just typed.
If I try the same with a folder in my system hard drive, it behaves as expected. In the spotlight privacy tab, the volume is in the exclusion list, so I assume that explains why.
    yes, it does.
However, I don't think this justifies not being able to filter by filename.
because you excluded the drive from searches. spotlight behaves exactly as you told it to.
Why should I have to go through the overhead of files and all their content being indexed for something as fundamental as searching by filename?
what overhead? what's the problem with indexing the external? it's a one time operation. after that the searches are very quick.

  • How to create search index files for Java Pet Store

    Hi All,
As you may know, the java pet store application uses for the search function a search index object, which itself uses the following files '_36.cfs', 'deletable', 'segments'.
Now as I want to change the data of the database (delete some pets, and names, etc.), it does not have an effect on the search results. This is because the application uses the search index files and does not use the database for the search query.
So can anybody help me and tell me how I can create this three files from my *.sql file, so I can search in my own data?
Thank you very much for your help.

With NetBeans (Using File Perspective) or just editing build.xml
Netbeans: select build.xml/Run Target/Other Targets/unzipindexes: Tough it should work it fails in resolving $javaee.domaindir$ at least in my system, but it does suscessfully create a new directory named ${jee.domaindir} that includes lib/petstore/searchindex and three files: _36.cfs , deletable, segments.
Copy those three files to your_glasshfish_path/domains/domain1/petstore/searchindex.

  • File system lim

The Nomad Xtra Zen 60 is pretty amazing. However, considering the vastness of its storage space, it has some serious shortcomings.
I understand it uses ID3 tags to create the file names in its proprietary file format. This creates a problem for me. I have separate whole CD's I'd like to put on it, as well as a compilation of my favourite tracks. As soon as a track is in both categories, it refuses to be copied because it already exists. On my PC it's simply in another directory, but on the Nomad the file already exists...
) How can I work around this?
    2) Which parts of the ID3 tag are used in the Nomad file system file name?
    3) Everything would be solved if the file system wouldn't be 'flat' (the dratted iPod has a hierarchical file system I think). Are there any hacks out there? Is Creative thinking of implementing this in a new firmware or have they already moved on to new players?
And, last but not least, when I do a search on the forum, all resulting messages are truncated. Is there any way to show them completely?

I believe the MP3 player uses Title, Artist, Album and Genre to identify the tracks in the MP3 player.
It is recommended that you tag your files properly. Many media player applications and MP3 players use the tag for identifying the track and displaying the track information. If you have organized your files properly by directories and filenames in your PC hard disk, it is not difficult to tag your files. There are many third party applications that you can use to tag your files based on directories and filenames. Creative MediaSource also allows you to tag your files based on directories and filenames. If you want to try MediaSource, simply run MediaSource and click the Import button at the top of the PC Music Library view. The MediaSource's Import Wizard has an option to add your files to the PC Music library and also tag the files according to directories and filenames at the same time.
