Using iPad 2 w/ ios 5.1.1.

I'm using an iPad 2 with ios 5.1.1. Works great. but I'd like to upgrade to a newer version of ios(7.1.1) to get newer versions of apps. Current version of ios is 8.x but don't want to go that direction due to performance concerns. Can anyone provide me any guidance on my situation, or am I stuck only with the most current version of ios if i want to update?

You can only update to iOS 8.1.1.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I tried to update my pages app on my IPad and it will not download. It states waiting to install. Last update 9-12-2012 and the update did not complete. I have not been able to use app since then. This app was purchased so if I delete and reinstall will I have to pay again?

How do I save a draft on hotmail website if using IPad with IOS 7. Anyone know please?

Seem to be unable to save a draft when using the hotmail website on my I pad. Go into the drafts folder and start new message but there is only a tab for cancel or send and nothing for save. No trouble saving drafts in different hotmail account which is on iPad, problem just on hotmail website. Anyone know if can save drafts on website and if so how to do it. Thanks.

I have had this problem since my latest IOS update. Today I went to my local Sydney Apple store. This is what they did and the problem is solved.
open Safari....Google.
find the Settings cog wheel top right.
touch the wheel, select Search Settings and select NEVER SHOW INSTANT RESULTS.
Save.
IT worked for me.

Dear all, I'm using Ipad 2, IOS 4.3.3, currently trying to update to IOS 5.0.1 (latest version is IOS 5.1 but I just want to update to 5.0.1).
I already have Itunes up-to-date Itunes 10.6.1 but Itunes keep prompting me error : unknown error (3194).
Is it due to the release of IOS 5.1 which blocks all previous updates?
Note: I'm trying to UPDATE from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 not to restore.

You can only update to the current version i.e. 5.1, as only the current version is 'signed' by Apple

You can't, downgrading the iOS is not supported. If you are having problems with 5.1 then if you say what they are then people on here might be able to help

In order to read a book in iBooks and listen to music in iTunes (multitask) I must reboot ( Ipad 2) iOS 5.1

I am using Ipad 2 iOs 5.1. Using latest version of iBooks and iTunes. All apps have been updated and iPad has been synced with MacBook Pro (Lion).
When I try to listen to music and read I have to reboot. It works for a bit then quits again. I have scoured support and communities but found no information.
Any suggestions?

ok... So maybe a little oops but heres what I discovered.
I can listen to music via iTunes and read a book via iBooks at the same time. I can not listen to a movie or music video while reading a book. I suspect the iPad2 figures I must want to watch that video or read a book but not do both. It would be interesting to see if this gets some support during developement because there are some cool concert videos that I would love to listento while I read.

For iPad, the highest supported os for iOS 6 is v6.1.3. If you want to get the security patch, you'll have to go to iOS 7.0.6.

If you need iOS 7 then you need newer hardware that can run it

You might be able to use your iPhone sim. FaceTime calls are only possible over wifi or you can get something like the Skype For iPad app from the store if you want to make video calls over 3G - but you can't do 'normal' phone calls with the iPad.

Sorry, I'm reposting this because of spelling error in my previous post (I must turn that 'auto-correct' off).
Since I posted my questions, the only thing I figured out was to turn the 'iCloud' in the Settings on and now the plus sign is on and all my previous appointments appeared. While this is a solution, what if I don't want to use iCloud? But I'm happy for now that my Calendar works.
