Using iPad Mini with MacBook Chrome running OS X 10.5.8

Hello,
My MacBook is coming upto 4 years old and I run 10.5.8. I recently bought an IPad Mini but it cannot connect to iTunes, and I cannot upgrade to iTunes version 7 as I am not running 10.6.8.
Does this mean that I have to upgrade my OS? If so, what's the best way to do this?
Or am I best biting the bullet and investing in a new MacBook?

There are two ways of looking at this. If the Mac can run Snow Leopard and the machine is still working well for you, you might be able to upgrade and get another year or two out the current machine.
Here are the minimum requirements for Snow Leopard.
General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.

You can try contacting Apple and see if they still have it available. I bought it for $29.00 at Best Buy about 18 months ago and some online stores still have it but you will get the best deal with Apple more than likely. I would try this number from the online store.

The other way of approaching this is - if you can afford a new Mac - with the purchase of a new Mac and a new iPad Mini - you should be set for a few more years to come.

I've already updated the software, from a quick search that seems to be the network issue for imessage/FaceTime. Is there a fix for this? Ive no back up to go back to.

I just bought an iPad mini AT&T 4g LTE to use with my tmobile nano sim. I put the SIM card in and the tmobile network is registered and I see 3G. I try to use the Internet but I get no data. It is currently on iPod 6.1.3 and the carrier is 14.0. Is there a way to upgrade the carrier to 14.1, will that help out. Also, is there proper apn settings I can use to use the data on my tmobile data plan? It doesn't make sense to get tmobile and 3G for the network and not being able to download data, not even edge speeds.

Using Mac Mini with Macbook on Leopard?

I'm thinking about getting the new Mac Mini. I noticed on the website that it comes with Snow Leopard pre-installed. However, I have a 2008 Macbook that is running on Leopard. Will I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard in order to use the Mac Mini?

The Mac Mini comes with Snow Leopard preinstalled.
Leopard and Snow Leopard can communicate with each other just fine.
The only thing to note, is you can't install Leopard on the Mac Mini to run applications that won't run on Snow Leopard. You can make a screen sharing in iChat between the two machines, or a VNC connection to be able to peer in on the MacBook's Leopard, but the processing will still be done on the MacBook.
You don't need to upgrade the MacBook to Leopard, unless there is some hardware that is required by an application that is found on the MacBook, but not on the Mac Mini, and the software in question requires Snow Leopard to run. In that event upgrade the MacBook to Snow Leopard with these precautions in mind*:

Using an iPad Mini with an HDMI connected projector

I use an iPad Mini with a projector during the seminars I present and have run into a stumbling block with regard to audio output. I am using the Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter with my LCD projector (flawlessly) and the audio from my iPad goes to the projector through the HDMI cable as well. My problem is I would like to use external speakers instead of the one built into the projector. I have tried the headphone jack of the iPad, no luck. I have tried bluetooth connected speakers for the iPad, again it won't work. Has anyone discovered a way to separate the video and audio from an HDMI output to be able to use external speakers? My guess is that the HDMI "assumes" you are using a television (with built in speakers) and not a projector (which has no provision for audio out).

If it is, then you have next to the HDMI socket also a Lightning socket to which you could connect any audio system with a Lightning connector.
You may have a larger choice of audio systems for the old 30-pin connector, but then there is this solution:

Have an iPad mini with latest software upgrade 8.1.2. Verizon Messaging on use after working for 1 yr. deleted app and downloaded fresh app. Same problem. Neither Apple support or Verizon store support could find problem. Sometimes can type txt befor it

Have an iPad mini with latest software upgrade 8.1.2. Verizon Messaging app crashes on use after one year with no problems. I deleted the app and downloaded a clean version. It crashes whether or not I have any apps running in the background. Sometimes I can type part of a message before it crashes. Other times it crashes as soon as I try to use the app at all. Neither Apple Support nor Verizon store staff could find any reason for the problems. Any ideas??

Steady_RI, thanks for keeping us posted. Did you uninstall that application by pressing/holding down the icon until the (X) appears? Tap the (X) to delete it. Once the application has been deleted, you will need to reset the network settings on your device in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Power that device off/on and then download the application again. Additionally, we also recommend that you disable Wi-Fi and connect to our network to test the messaging feature again.

Hi..I've had a variant of this problem; my internet was accessible but my devices on wifi could not see the PC on Lan. That meant no iTunes syncing, Airplay from iTunes etc.
Dlink has a strange default setting that isolates Wifi & Wired connections into different subnets.I'm assuming you have DHCP setup on your router and you're PC or MAC has internet access via the same router. Try the following steps to see if this solves the problem for you-
1. Go to Setup -> Local Network and Uncheck the box that says 'Configure the second IP Address and Subnet Mask for LAN' - Hit Apply
2. Go to Wireless -> Wireless Basic and Uncheck 'Enable MultiAP Isolation' - Hit Apply
3. Restart your Router
Let me know if this solves your problem. I've been frustrated by my problem for months & had nearly given up.
