Using iPad2 Camera in DPS publication

We are investigating the feasibility of creating an HTML stack that would appear mid-issue, that would allow users to take a picture with their camera and insert in to the layout. Was wondering if this is possible within the DPS environment?

You can use the camera inside DPS publications on devices running iOS 6 or later. This is a built-in feature of HTML in iOS6. Earlier versions of the OS don't have support for this.
To access the camera use something like this:
<input type=file accept="video/*"> (for video files)
<input type=file accept="image/*"> (for pictures)
There isn't any way to get at the GPS in a DPS publication currently.

      First, make sure it is backed up in itunes.
      Next, there should be an option somewhere on itunes to restore it to its original state. I did that once for the IOS 5 install after the first go round did not work.
      Once its in its original state, upgrade to ios5. Then restore from Itunes all your stuff.
       That is what I did but I am not an expert on what exactly is where in itunes.

Try switching from Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) [Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge.] to Mass Storage Device Mode or vise versa on the camera.
Or use the camera's SD card.

There are obviously limits to what can be stored in Photo Stream and for how long.
If she wants backups then she will need something like this: Seagate Wireless Plus.

Deleting photo's ( taken on ipad2 camera ) on the camera roll directly from ipad

I am new to all this stuff....as Grannies are....but here goes...
I just got an iPad2 with the iOS5 ( the only apple device I have ). I have had it 8 Days....
I took some photos with the iPad2 camera then I transferred them to a new album, following the directions in the downloaded User's Guide.
That worked OK.
Now I want to delete some photo's from the Camera Roll. Looked up how to delete from Camera Roll in the U/Guide which says...Open Camera, tap box in the lower L/H bottom corner, open a photo, then tap garbage bin.
I have done all this but instead of saying, in the red box, " Delete Photo ", as it should, it says " Delete Everywhere " which takes the photo out of the Camera Roll as well as the album it was put into. I tried it out once and it did delete from both places. !!!
Then when I open Photo's, then open an album and tap on a photo and follow what the U/Guide tells you to do, open a photo then tap the Garbage bin, I get the same message there too " Delete Everywhere "
There seems to be no way to change from Delete Everywhere to Delete Photo. ???? AND it also altered a photo in another completely different album ( one that I synced from my PC ) in that, instead of a photo, I now have a light grey square with a question mark in the centre of it in place of the picture , yet when I tap on the grey square the photo then opens. ????
Can anyone help please ?

I have managed to find a fix for my problem .
I have discovered the following…..To Delete Photos from Camera roll.
If when you open “Camera” on your iPad , you have photos on your camera roll that you haven’t put into an album directly from the camera roll in “ Photos” then you can Delete them as the User Guide states eg. …Open Camera … tap the thumbnail box in the lower L/H bottom corner and a bigger display of thumbnails of your photos will appear….tap the box with the arrow in it on the upper R/H side….then tap on the thumbnail , this will put a blue circle with a white tick in it on the lower R/H corner of that thumbnail and the Red Delete button will come alive…..tap the delete button and you will get a drop down saying …Delete Photo…tap this and the photo will disappear and it will also disappear from the little thumbnail box in the lower L/H corner….do this with all photos …then tap Done……you will now have an empty camera roll.
HOWEVER…….if in “ Photos” you have put any of these photos that are on the Camera roll album into other albums directly on your iPad you will NOT be able to delete them in this manner..….When you open “ Camera “ and pull up your thumbnails and follow the above process the Drop down from the Red Delete button will say…Delete Everywhere…meaning from the camera roll and the particular Album you have that photo in……in short you will loose the photo completely.
This next bit is for those of us who have PC’s that are not Apple.
I plugged my iPad into my computer via the Dock connector to USB cable that came with the iPad and copied the camera roll onto my PC using the Microsoft Photo Wizard to load all the photos I had taken with my iPad camera onto my PC’s …My Pictures….they all transferred OK….I disconnected the cable from the iPad to the PC. Then on the PC with MY Pictures open I sorted and renamed and created folders /albums to suit my needs…..
Now make Blank Folder in My Pictures and leave it sit there empty.
OK now time to clear the IPad of all the stuff I don’t want on there.
Now you can go back into “Photos” on the iPad and use the “Delete Everywhere” or button and it will do that. You can also go back into “Camera” and make sure that all of the camera roll is deleted as well. You should end up with no Camera roll in either the Photos or Camera apps.
Pull up iTunes on the PC….Plug in the cable again….Click on Device name and you get a sync menu…click on photos …tick sync to iPad and then choose selected albums…..and then tick the albums you wish to copy to your iPad and click on apply…..this will then only sync those photo albums you have ticked….Yay !
Now I had some problems with some photos disappearing and leaving just a light grey square with a question mark in it, in the place where the photo should have been ,whilst I was trying to delete the camera roll ( see first discussion) before I worked out a way to do it so I chose to Delete ALL the albums I had previously synced from my PC to fix that as well….and no, I don’t know what caused that to happen, however,
……… To do this I did as above…with the sync menu open click photos…then tick selected albums…. Then selected the Blank Folder I had created earlier on my PC and Nothing else…...then click apply… your screen may ak if this is what you want to do.....this will delete all the photos on the iPad that have been synced on there before. ……
Now with everything back to blank screens you can go ahead and select those albums you do want on your iPad from your computer and resync .
This method has worked for this “ Granny “ and I didn’t have a huge amount of photos on the camera roll so it may be a bit long and laborious if you do have a gazillion photos on your camera roll and I don’t know about bulk deleting…….but I now have a working iPad and only the Photos I want on it and no grey squares with question marks.
This may be a bit long winded as an article but I hope it can help someone else to sort out their problems, as I have now done, and after looking at many sites for help info there appears to be quite a bit of confusion out there with these apps.

I saw an app in the Itunes Store making me able to use the Camera for 5MP shots. Is this really possible? Cause I thought the cam only had 0,79 MP.

Kodak Zi8 doesn't connect to iPad2 camera connection kit

i have a Kodak Zi8 video camera and want to copy my movies to a iPad2 using the camera connection kit using buildin USB Kable of the Zi8.
Unfortunately the iPad shows a messagebox "Dieses Zubehör benötigt zu viel Strom" (accessory need to much current !?).
How can i connect my video camera to the iPad2?

You won't be able to because the video camera requires more power than the iPad can provide.
To transfer your videos to the iPad, you might try connecting the video camera to your computer and importing them into iTunes. From there, you can select the videos and create iPad-compatible versions (under the "Advanced" menu, select "Create IPAD Version". Then transfer the iPad version of the video to your iPad by syncing.

If you are adding the photos yourself, then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it with filenames exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus their file extension i.e. in the same format as if your digital camera had written them.

Hello all, ive just purchased a used ipad2 wifi 3g model..i have tried to reset and deleted data but it sit's in black screen for hrs with tiny rotating circle in centre. After 5hrs I unplugged it and restarted it but is back to previouse owners setting

I have used Firefox since Firefox 0.7 or 0.9 but may have been 0.5. Seems like it was called something else but my memory is not that great.
Before that I used Seamonkey and other variations of Mozilla. Before that I used Netscape. I even have/had a CD that I sent off for with the different releases going all the way back to the beginning (I think).
I was a Mozilla crusader. When I saw someone using IE I would talk to them like they must be dumb until they switched haha. I have converted everyone who is close to me to firefox except my wife and I think she uses IE to irritate me.
I work on the Internet. I spend no less than 12 hours and up to 18 hours a day with my fingers touching a keyboard that is connected to a computer or phone that is interacting with the Internet. I have Firefox on my Android phone, two laptops and my desktop. All of them crash constantly.
When it crashes I lose work and time. Not to mention getting big headaches.
I am very appreciative for the browser and yes I have made money donations. Not saying that makes me good. I look at it more like I am paying for great software.
I never thought the day would come that I would say no more to Firefox. The day has come.
When Firefox first came out it was small, good and fast. As time has went on it has become big, bad and slow. I feel like I am turning my back on a good friend but i can't take the crashing any longer.
I am using Chrome now. Dang I hate to use anything google. Since I can't make my own browser I have to use what's out there and Chrome is fast. Sort of like Firefox used to be... except of course Chrome has all those phone home goodies.
I won't be trying to convert anyone to Chrome but neither will I try to convert them to Firefox.
I am not trying to start a flame war or anything here. As nuts as it sounds I felt like I should tell Firefox bye.

Switching DPS publication account with In-App Purchases

We have this scenario and wanted to know the Adobe recommendations.
One customer has a multfolio app on the App Store with in-app purchases enabled. The issues had been selling for quite some months. For some reason, he needs to change the DPS publication account he uses to publish the folios. If he copy the current folios to the new account and publish them with the same Product ID and updates the secret shared key, without touching anything else within the In-App Purchases in iTunes Connect, will that Restore the purchases when final users updates the app and want to download their already purchased items?
I appreciate yout thoughts about this issue

There are two different Android platforms--Amazon and Google. DPS apps support in-app purchases for individual folios in both platforms, but DPS apps support subscriptions only on Amazon. Support for Google Play subscriptions should be available later this year if all goes according to plan.

Soundcloud in dps publication

hi there,
just tried to incorporate a soundcloud audio file in a dps publication and looking for some feedback..
- when the audio-file is inserted as a web-content overlay in £InDesign CC (i've created an iframe inside a html-page, link copied from soundcloud) I am able to load and see the soundcloud graphic on my testpage, I can start and stop the audio but when hitting the share or other buttons these links also open inside the iframe (logical I think, but not useful because the iframe's height is set to 166px)
- so i tried to insert the audio-file using a simple url button that opens the browser window on top of the article, that way all buttons on the soundcloud page can be used but the sound won't play anymore
Is this a normal behavior of soundcloud in the browser on top of an article ?
Are there any best practices in using soundcloud inside dps publication ?

The script behind the soundcloud share function is set to open in the same window so that's an expected behaviour and can't really do aything about it. The work around is to place your own custom share buttons which will open in the in-app browser where the sound should continue to play on the background. Dps publication: beta distribution and analytics

I'd need to build a beta publication for a closed user group (<100). And I'd need indepth analytics about the usage. What are my options here?
Can I use custom analytics such as Flurry? Sitecatalyst seems too pricy for a small project like this
Does dps analytics work with content viewer builds?
Distribution with UDID? What if I want to add a new ID after publication? Rebuild it in iTunes Connect?
Is there a way to not use UDID like Testflight? Or should I just make enterprise build and distribute via private web link? I don't need to know udids then right?
Can any of the sdk elements from testflight be incorporated to dps publication (for example checkpoints)?
Is there a way to get user specific data? Or should I just make different ipa for every key test user?
How far can I go with pro or should I consider enterprise?

For analytics and private distribution you have only one choice I know of and that's enterprise accounts with Adobe and Apple.
