Using Ipad2 in Canada and Mexico

Does the unlocked 3g/wifi enable me to use it both Canada and Mexico. Which carriers would I need to contact and do they need to supply me with a special sim card?

You should be able to roam on local networks with either the AT&T model or the Verizon model in both countries. That may cost you an arm and a leg. Here in Mexico you can buy a local TelCel SIM card for MN$150, that should work with the AT&T model. There are instructions that you can find with a web search for how to cut the SIM card to micro-SIM size to use in your iPad 2.

I am currently using ipad2 (only wifi) and... having lots of difficulites accessing to Internet.
I was wondering if Pantech 4G LTE USB modem would work.
Or it there is another way I could get access to Internet freely? ;-l
    Please.. hepl me out!
    Thank you ~

The iPad does not have necessary drivers for the Pantech modem, even if you could connect it.
If you already have the Pantech modem, you might be able to use it with a CradlePoint WiFi router such as the MBR900.  That would make the router into a WiFi hotspot.  Check the CradlePoint website to be sure that model modem is compatible.
Another possibility is a WiFi hotspot called a "MiFi" that uses the same system as the Pantech modem.  I understand there are both battery powered and plug-in versions available.  Check with your cellular provider for details.

  • HT1695 HI, I am planning to use my Ipad in both Canada and Mexico.  Is there a cellualr network that will work for both?

WAht is the best combo of cellular providers??

What you're going to need is an application that will let you "rip" your pictures from the iPad back to your Mac. These are like reverse iTunes applications. Usually, these third party utilities are used to rip music from iPods back to your computer but some will also let you pull the photos out. You might do a search in the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch forums and see if anyone has recently recommended a utility like that. You should know that the pictures on your iPad are not the orginal full-resolution copies. But getting smaller versions back may be better than nothing. Sounds like it's time to invest in an external hard drive so you can enable Time Machine...

  • Using Messages between Canada and US

Just about to take my iPhone 4 (ios6) down to the US for a short vacation. Wondering two things:
Are messages free to send and receive from Canada to the US and back
Are messages free to send within the US using a Canadian-purchased iPhone?

if using imessage they will be free.
If you are talking normal SMS, you must check your plan to see if it includes Canada/US.

  • Can I buy and use an iPhone 5 in Canada and also use it in Europe?

I travel between Canada and parts of Europe and want to buy an iPhone in Canada.
Can I use it in Canada and in Europe?
Can I just buy pay-as-you-go cards? Or how does this work? Something with SIM cards?
    Thank you!

Canadian iPhone 5 and the one being sold in Europe are different models.
If GSM unlocked it will work on supported networks except LTE services
Remember Warrantee of iPhone is limited to the country of sale, EU if bought in any European country.

  • HT5661 How can I unlock my iphone from Iusacel (Mexico) I moved to Canada and the Iusacel company told me they cannot do it. Can you tell me how? I want to keep using my iphone.

How can I unlock my iphone from Iusacel (Mexico) I moved to Canada and the Iusacel company told me they cannot do it. Can you tell me how? I want to keep using my iphone.

The normal process is to request the unlock with the carrier.  They process it and pass it on to Apple to be applied to the Apple's iPhone database.  The carrier would then inform you when Apple has provisioned the unlock, and you would restore your iPhone as a new device in iTunes to apply the unlock (you would get a message at the end of that restore as new in iTunes indicating the unlock was successfully applied).  You could then restore your iPhone from backup to get everything back as it was.
However, for some carriers, you seem to beed to complete the iTunes restore from within the country where they provide service.  Regardless, have you tried restoring as new in iTunes to see if it processes any provisioned unlock request?  Just be sure to backup the iPhone first, before restoring as new.

I brought my ipad2 from Canada to Thailand and put a sim card in to access wifi and 3g, but I cannot get on the internet,is there anything I can do to fix this?

    Two things:
    1. Make sure the SIM card is enabled for data.
    2. Make sure you are using the correct APN settings, in Settings - Cellular Data.

  • Can an iPhone 4S purchased in Canada be used in mainland China and download apps by using a Chinese credit card?

    Hi,
Can an iPhone 4S purchased in Canada be used in mainland China, and also download apps by using a Chinese credit card?
    Thanks.

Could it be because the SIM card got damaged while I cut it to fit the IPhone?
Very likely. Hard to believe the carrier in Mexico doesn't have a micro-SIM card available.
Or somehow the Chinese carrier found out and locked it?
    No, which is not possible.
What can I do? Get a new SIM and see if it works again?
Get a micro-SIM from the carrier in Mexico that you don't have to manually cut down. If that carrier doesn't provide one, switch to another carrier that is not so low-budget.

    Hi,
I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada and when I try to use Siri it loads and loads and then says, "I'm really sorry about this, but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while."
I rebooted and it didn't fix the problem. I just got my iPhone 4s (unlocked right from Apple) several weeks ago.

Siri has been a bit more erratic than usual in the last week or so. Apple has announced a major announcement for 9/12. Conclusions are left to the reader.
    Best of luck.

  • HT204053 I had been in Canada and created my apple ID for my phone there. Since I am back in the States and had to create a second apple ID. how can I deactivate one of them can use my normal email address?

I had been in Canada and obtained my i4s. I created my Apple ID using my normal email address.  I returned to the States and still had my Canadian number. I was told the Canadian version of the iPhone 4s would not work with any phone company in the States, so I had to purchase yet another phone and create another Apple ID.
I have since deactivated the Canadian number. I cannot deactivate that Apple ID though.  So I am stuck with two (2) Apple IDs. (not to mention 2 iPhone 4s)
I would very much like to only have one assiciated with the phone I have now. Is there a way to deactivate one of the Apple ID accounts?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I'm not sure you needed to purchase a new phone, you certainly didn't need to create a new ID.
However now you have done, you can't de-activate the old account, just log into your new one and stop using your old one.

Hi: I don't believe that Telus provides unlocking for the iPhone. Other phones, yes, iPhone no.

You don't download anything at all. The feature is built into the iPhone 4 already. Your carrier has to support the feature and there might be an extra charge to use it.
You can read about how it works here.

  • Hi, I am planning a trip to South Africa (I live in Canada) and would like to know if I'll be able to use my Ipad there and what do I need to do to be able to have wi-fi or 4g access?  Anybody can help me?

    Hi,
I am planning a trip to South Africa in Nov/Dec.  I live in Winnipeg Canada and own an Ipad wi-fi cellular.  I would like to know if it is easy once in South Africa to use my device the way it is (i.e. with its existing SIM card etc).  Or do I need to acquire a different SIM card?  Also in order not to pay a fortune for the service is it better to acquire if needed a SIM card only once there?  Also if I need a different SIM card where does one go to get one in South Africa?   I have never travelled anywhere other than across Canada with my ipad (I am a fairly recent owner of such a device) and could use some help as to the best way to be able to use my machine in South Africa safely efficiently and at a reasonable cost.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Also in order not to pay a fortune for the service is it better to acquire if needed a SIM card only once there?
Check with your carrier about roaming charges.  They are usually prohibitive.  Best to get a local SIM.

  • If you are traveling in Europe, do you need both an adapter AND a voltage regulator to charge the IPad2 and the iphone? Or, the reverse, will it hurt either if I use both the adapter AND the voltage convertor?

If you are traveling in Europe, do you need both an adapter AND a voltage convertoro charge the IPad2 and the iphone? Or, the reverse, will it hurt either if I use both the adapter AND the voltage convertor?

You may only need adapters for the different kind of sockets, depending of the country you want to travel. A voltage converter is not needed.
The Apple power units are multi voltage devices, supporting a range from 110 V to 240 V. as you can see on the labels. O.K. for most of the labels you need a magnifier, but its on them.
    Have a pleasnt journey
