Using iPhone 2G on another network?

I have the original iPhone 2G that's locked into O2. Now that the new iPhone is available on other networks can I use my original iPhone on another network (e.g Orange) without needing to jailbreak/unlock?

Since the original iPhone is carrier locked with O2, this is entirely up to O2 and O2 only, so you need to contact O2 about officially unlocking the iPhone.

Sure, use an existing unlocked iPhone or have it unlocked by your existing cellular provider.

  • I am using iphone 5 with vodafone network in NOIDA , but alwaz my phone is not rechable,

i am using iphone 5 with vodafone network in NOIDA , but alwaz my phone is not rechable,

Then as you've tried resetting the phone, the next step is to restore it from the latest backup. If that doesn't work, restore it as new, and if that doesn't work take it to Apple.

  • Using Iphone 5 on multi networks

Can you use Iphone 5 on multi networks?

Do you mean like on Sprint and Verizon? Or AT&T and Verizon?   And at the same time or switching back and forth?
A little more specifics regarding what you're trying to accomplish might be helpful.

  • HT3939 I may want to use iPhone 5 for CDMA network in Myanmar.

We understand that iPhone 5  (model A1429) can be used for GSM and CDMA network.
We used normal SIM card for CDMA net work. I will request nano sim card  telecom to use in iPhone 5.
Please confirm that A1429 model can use for Myanmar CDMA network.
    Thank

No.  The CDMA section of the phone is permanetly locked to a specific CDMA carrier such as Verizon or Sprint. IT can't be unlocked and used elsewhere.

  • How to use iPhone with a new network

I received a new iPhone 3G S 8GB from a friend in US. The problem is the phone is configured with A T & T. I have recharged the battery upon receving it but it failed to display the phone menu. It only displays emergency call and the iTunes and USB cable sign on the screen. I have inserted a new sim it also does not change. It displays the IMEI number and th ICCID number when pressing the 'i' sign. After removing the sim it says 'No Sim Card Installed, Insert a valid SIM with no Pin lock to activate iPhone. Please help me how I can be able to use the phone?

Thank you for the reply. I am not in the US and stay in another country where ATT does not operate. Is there any
other ways to unlock the phone that is configured to ATT or should I consider the phone useless as it is brand new (I think there should be a way out)? Any suggestions please?

It would appear that the phone is locked to the previous carrier. Do you have details about where the phone was originally acquired and activated?

  • Help, I'm currently using iPhone 5 on UK network. As of recent I'm not receiving messages from irish mobile! Everyone else in my house can but I'm not??

    curren

Are you talking about SMS messages or iMessages?
If it is SMS Messages you are trying to receive, it is probably best you talk to your carrier to check if your current plan offers overseas calls and messages.

  • Using iPhone 3Gs with noise canceling headset

I recently upgraded from a 3G to a 3Gs. I used the 3G with a corded connection from the audio jack to a Lightspeed Zulu aviation noise canceling headset. It worked great. However, with the 3Gs I can hear the person I am talking to fine, but they say they can barely hear me. This never happened when I used my 3G phone with the NC headset. Is there a volume adjustment on the outgoing audio in the 3Gs?

So my question is, can i use IPhone 3Gs with my network instead of AT&T?
No, if the phone is bought from AT&T in the US, it is locked to AT&T and AT&T do not offer unlocking, so it would only be able to be used with AT&T.
There doesn't appear to be an official iPhone provider in Egypt, so you would have to buy an unlocked one from another country:

Note that for any repairs or service the iPhone would have to be returned to the country of purchase.

    If your network configuration is:
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > [WAN] AEBS > (wireless) > Macs, then
AirPort Extreme Base Station Setup (AEBS) w/High-Speed Cable Modem
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the Cable modem, AEBS, & computer(s). (If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the computer(s)
Perform a "hard" reset of the AEBS.
    - (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107451)
    Setup the AEBS
With the network components powered down, set up the AEBS, using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
    - Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - Create a closed network (unchecked)
    - Wireless Security: Not enabled
    - Channel: Automatic
    - Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    - Connect Using: Ethernet
    - Configure: Using DHCP
    - WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    - Distribute IP addresses (checked)
    - Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network. To do so, I suggest that you make these changes:
    AirPort tab (optional)
    - Create a closed network (checked)
    Change Wireless Security
    - Wireless Security: WPA Personal
Base Station Options - WAN Ethernet Port
    - Enable SNMP Access (unchecked)
    - Enable Remote Configuration (unchecked)
    - Enable Remote Printer Access (unchecked)
    Wireless Options
    - Transmitter Power: 10%
    Access Control tab (optional)
    - + <add the computer(s) that will access this wireless network>

  • My phone is going to be cut of by orange cos I can't afford the bill but I got my current phone direct from apple shop can I use another SIM card from another network in

my iPhone is going to be cut of by orange as I can't afford the bill, my current phone is direct from an apple shop as I had to have it replaced , can I put another sim in from another network and use my phone on a pay as you go from O2

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

  • Can I use iPhone in uk on uk network

Can I purchase an iPhone in USA and use it on a uk network. I am currently pay as you go (no contact) in the uk on 02 network and would like to replace my phone as the phones are cheaper in USA

"unlocked" and "sim free" by normal usage mean the same thing, that the phone is not locked to a specific carrier. It is possible to purchase an unlocked iPhone in the US. You can do so only from Apple directly, either the online Apple Store or one of the retail Apple Stores. Make sure you specific that you want an unlocked iPhone, not one "without contract".
Note, however, that the warranty on a US iPhone would be honored only in the US (unless Apple changes policy, something I have not seen any evidence of yet). So if your US iPhone fails, you would have to ship it to the someone in the US to take or send it to Apple for service. Note as well that in the US you normally have to pay sales tax in addition to the listed price. There are also often import duties when you bring a foreign-purchased electronic device into your home country. So think carefully before you decide to purchase an iPhone from another country.

plz guide me what should i do.
    ios 7.0.4

There aren't any supported carriers in Pakistan. Apple hasn't released the iPhone there. The OP is using a grey-market iPhone and hence is pretty much on his/her own as regards getting this phone working with the carrier, unless that carrier can help.
    Regards.
