Using iPhone to make calls while in Japan
So I'm in Tokyo, I paid ATT for a roaming plan while I am here, and I can't seem to make calls at all. If I just dial my number back home, I get some Japanese woman talking to me (automatic voice) and I have no idea what she is saying. If I try international prefix codes, I get nothing. I'm dead in the water while my colleague happily makes calls on her blackberry to home.
What is the magic sauce to using iPhone overseas like this?
Did you get international provisioning ACTIVATED on your account BEFORE you left? If not, call AT&T, obviously from another phone:

Check to make sure the mute switch is not in the mute position.
You can also check to see if Do Not Disturb is on or off. -
i did the update like 3 or 4 days ago and the phone has been working fine up till now... everytime i try to make a call it acts like its trying to do something but then the call fails every time and i have full service to....internet is working and so is itunes but i cant make calls. is there anything i can do?
i just found out that i can make calls while my iphone is docked but it still wont make calls when its undocked!

Once my iphone4s updats to ios 6.1.2，the electric quantity runs so fast！And the mainboard is so hot， when I use it,especially，make calls. If I make calls exceed two minutes, it gets so hot, that I can't be able to hold. If the battery is full at night, it falls down almost a half, when I get up. I don't know what is wrong with my phone, need help.

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to download it right now. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

iPhone 4S - IO 7You have hacked your phone with Turbo SIM. You cannot get any help here for hacked phones. Contact the place/person who sold you the SIM. Surely, they have support services, don't they?

I cannot use my iPhone to make calls or send text messages after upgrading to ios 7
I just upgraded to ios7 and I can no longer make calls or send text messages. The screens seem to be locking. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it?
My wife is having the exact same issue after updating to the new iOS 8.1.1 and we've tried all the same steps even restoring the phone as a new phone. We've contacted our service provider and they've told us to go to apple to potentially "remove" her serial number from their servers to allow it to work properly on the service we have. We are desperate as purchasing a new phone right now is not an option and she desperately needs her phone for work and life.

Am I supposed to be able to make calls while iphone is locked?

I locked (as in password-locked) my iphone and put a 4-digit password on it like you're supposed to. Well, anyway, when I press the home button it asks me for my 4 digit password. But I can just press the "emergency call" button on the bottom left and call ANY number I want...not just emergency numbers. I called my co-worker a moment ago. I googled this "issue" and saw where it does that for others as well. So, is this a bug or is it supposed to be like this? I know my email and stuff is still protected, but I would think that password-protecting my phone would be able to prevent people from making calls with my phone, which it apparently doesn't do.

The passcode lock is not intended to prevent people from making phone calls. It is made to protect your information. If you do not want people to be able to make calls from your phone unless authorized, you can set a SIM pin, and will need to enter that every time you turn the phone on.

iPhone cannot make FaceTime call to my friend's iPod.

I used FaceTime everyday and night using wifi , I love using it to call my friend .
It stopped connecting since yesterday ... I don't know what to doI have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

And that is only if you set it up for Siri to work under the lock screen. In Settings, if you have a Passcode lock on and have Siri turned off for use when the phone is locked, you cannot use it. Just an observation.

So, my Iphone 4 now has a black screen. Before it did this I unlocked the screen (which has a passcode) try to open instagram and the screen flashed and went black. I can make calls and it seems to send messages but I dont know for sure because the screen is black. The power button (sleep) does not work and when I try to reset the phone it makes a call. I never synced it to a computer or Itunes and I didnt start photo stream. I want to preserve the pictures because it has photos of family members that have passed. Is there a way to get the photos?? If you have attempted the reset, which is holding the home button and sleep/wake button, was it still connected to the computer? Have you tried to do that when not connected. You stated it never came on, how long did you hold the buttons together? If you cannot get it to connect to iTunes then you would not be able to restore the device. You can see if you can put the device into Recovery Mode by following the instructions in this support document. If that does not work, then you are correct, make an appointment at the Apple Store. Using iPhone Safari via wifi while in Hong Kong
I will be in Hong Kong and will not need to use my iPhone as a phone while there (ie- I am not getting international roaming), but wonder if I can still use Safari and mail with a wifi connection at a hotspot in Hong Kong- like you would a laptop?
Thanks!Yes you certainly can with no data charges but visual voicemail is downloaded to the iPhone via the cellular network only so even with data roaming off, this will not prevent the download of visual voicemail messages nor will it prevent you from receiving an SMS which is charged extra but you may not exchange SMS with anyone.
The only way to ensure no data charges whatsoever is by removing the iPhone's SIM card and placing it in a safe place which won't prevent you from accessing the internet via Wi-Fi. -

The same thing happens with incoming calls, when you answer the call on the speaker and did not hear anything. The incidence is temporary because at some calls the terminal, few works well. More than likely, you'll need to pay for a replacement iPhone - Apple charges $199 for out-of-warranty replacement (the warranty does not cover liquid damage).

You are located in the U.A.E. which blocks all outbound VoIP traffic (including Skype). It's not something over which Skype has any control.
The workaround is to create a VPN (google/bing for details).
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac
