Using iPhone w/ iPod speakers/dock?

I have the altec lansing inMotion speakers and i'm wondering if I can use this with my iphone?

anyone know whether it is safe to use?

I checked with the manufacturer who said "yes" and it's true, it works, though i get static through the speakers if the phone is not in airplane mode.

IPhone + Apple iPod Universal Dock?

Does anyone know if the iPod Universal Dock is really
compatible with the iPhone? When I plug my iPhone into
the UD it says "This accessory was not made to work with
iPhone" and then proceeds to ask if I want to go into
Airplane mode to reduce audio interference. The actually
"sync" functionality works perfect. Must have something
to do with audio/video output ports on the UD?? Anyone???

I do not have the UD adapter for the iPhone, I just plug
that puppy right in and hope that i don't hit it as it is
only being held up by the connector at the bottom. I've
never had a issue with this and my nano either. I'm too lazy

Can I use Iphone and Ipod at the same time?

I use an Ipod now. If I bought an iPhone and sync it with my iTunes... will it no longer allow syncs with my regular iPod? Or can I have both my purchases on both devices?

Yes, but the Fifth Generation iPod cannot play rented movies; it only works with purchased ones out of those from the iTunes Store. The iPod classic, third generation iPod nano, iPhone, and iPod touch will play rented movies.

IPhone 3G & iPod Universal Dock (Model AA1153)

Hello all,
I am unable to find any information that states whether or not the iPhone 3G is compatible with iPod Universal Dock (Model # AA1153). I know they have a new(er) version out that has a different Infrared lens on the front, but mine is about a year old and has a round lens.
I'm hesitant to plug it in since it is unknown whether or not the dock is compatible or not. Any assistance is greatly appreciated
PS: Also, can you charge the iPhone 3G w/ firewire? I have a few spare iPod firewire power bricks and dock cables..

Can I use my old iPod 3G dock with my new iPod Touch

I just got an iPod Touch, and I am wondering if there are any reason why I shouldn't use it with the old dock that came with my iPod 3G in 2004. It seems to sync and charge without any problem, but I'm wondering if it could cause physical damage because it's not designed to support that shape, or if there's any other potential issues. The iPod Touch came with an adapter, but it doesn't fit my ancient dock.

I do not understand why a 2G Touch would not charge from an AC connector. I am charging mine with the AC connector which came with my iPod Photo. That may have been the last iPod to include the charger with the device. But yes, it charges the Touch just fine. However, my Bose dock does not work with the Touch at all. I understand that it would not be able to charge it, but I can't even play through it. Two other docks I have are the same EXCEPT that both of them have an auxilliary input and I can play the Touch through a cord going into that input, lying down of course, not in its dock.

Thru the app Remote, I have access on an iphone and an ipod to all the music on on my MacBook Pro. When using either device I only get playback through the laptop and not the iphone or ipod. How come?

Using iPhone in car speakers and talking hands free without bluetooth ?

Just got a new car with an AUX in - works for using iPod music when on AUX mode in the car. This is no problem. But as I am looking at various options for phone functions (handsfree) in the car, just wondering : although I have used the speakerphone from time to time without other connection, can I do the following : use the AUX in the car to get the voice of the person I am talking to, and just speak freely (as I would do in speaker-phone on the iPhone) so we both can have a clear conversation ?
Which settings would I choose for that on the iPhone ? (I assume if I click speakerphone mode, this would not work with the AUX-out, or would it ?... Then what if I get a phone call (while in AUX mode in the car) while I play music in this mode (from iPhone of course) ?
In other words, can I completely avoid using any kind of external bluetooth device (from a GPS or other)??

Yes that works, use the speakerphone mode. Some people report that the callers hear themselves via the car speakers and iPhone mic. It won't cost anything to try it and see if it meets your requirements.

yes you can use your old iphone as an ipod, and if it's already activated you can sync without a problem, but i think you still need the sim card in there. simply just put in the sim card and sync. once done, you can take out the sim card and put it back to your other phone.

Keep in mind that an iPhone must have a SIM card in it in order for a restore to complete successfully. If you have issues and need to restore the phone, not having the SIM in it will prevent the restore from completing.
I recommend leaving the SIM in the phone if you do choose to purchase it.
