Using IPOD 5g and camera connector with Nikon D70 raw

Hi,
I take pictures in 'RAW and Basic' ie digital negative and JPG on a D70. On the Apple IPOD camera connector page there is a user comment referring to having found a posting giving a correct way of transferring RAW files to IPOD which works. Obviously I am not expecting to be able to see the raw pictures just the basic jpgs. But does anyone know the correct procedure for transferring RAW and emedded basic PG files over to IPOD and where they are stored on the IPOD so that I can recover them later?
Dell Latitude D610   Windows XP

i have a minolta 7d and i used to take pics in raw+jpg figuring that it would save the raw and hopefully show the jpgs. no such luck. i talked to the apple gurus and no one seems to know how to make it look at the jpgs and not just the raw files.
i've played around with everything that i could figure out and to no avail. so now i just shoot in raw, tranfer to the ipod (via usb cord to the camera) and when i get home transfer them to the pc.
p.s. the jpgs are still moved over to the ipod and you can get them when you transfer them back to the puter you just can't view them while on the ipod. if you were to shoot just jpg then of course you would be able to see them.

Does anybody have a new iPod video with a camera connector and a Canon PowerShot Pro1? I'm having trouble downloading images to my iPod?
Every time I connect the camera to my iPod, I get the message on the iPod screen that says "no card inserted".
I've tried 3 different memory cards in my camera with the same results.
    HELP?

Don't know about the Pro 1. My Canon XT works fine. In the menu for the XT, I have COMMUNICATION: My choices are A)Print/PCP and 2)PC Connection. Print/PCP must be selected for it to work on mine. Check the menu of your Pro 1.

  • Camera Connector with Nikon D2x and 5G 60gb iPod

Has anyone had experience with the D2x (Nikon) and the camera connector on a 5G 60gb iPod?
The camera is compatable with Mass Storage and PTP. The camera works great with iPhoto...plug it in and iPhoto opens and you click the button to download.
Also, I see that the new iPod has a longer lasting battery. Does this help when downloading a large card.
By the way, I called Belkin and their camera connectors are NOT compatable with the new 5G models and the guy said that there is nothing on the drawing board.

I purchased the 60gb iPod-Video (5G) and after several failed attempts I found the proceedure to upload photos on to the iPod using an Apple camera connector with my D2x. Here goes:
First, reset the ipod (just a precaution...hold down the center button with the Menu button for 6 sec). The screen will go black with a golden apple in the center. The menu will display after a short period.
Turn on the ipod (if it isn't already on from the above proceedure).
Plug in the camera connector to the iPod (without the USB cable attached).
Attach the USB cable to your camera and turn on the camera.
Plug in the cable from the camera to the camera connector which is attached to the iPod.
Wait 20-30 sec and it should work.
I tested the speed in both PTP mode and Mass Storage mode. The import for both was 200mb.
    PTP = 3minutes 10 sec
Mass Storage 1 minute 59 sec.
The battery did go down a lot (about 1/4 after both imports), but after you detach the camera connector and go back to the main menu, it seems to go back up to about 95% full.

  • Purple and green blotches with Nikon D700 raws

I'm getting some purple and green blotches (mostly purple) with Nikon D700 raws when using the "Camera Standard" profile. This happens a lot during sunset-ish shots. The problem goes away when I select the "Adobe Standard" the profile.
I just tried ACR 6.3 RC and the problem still exists. is this a known issue?
Would be happy to share a raw + screenshots if needed (currently on a relatively low bandwidth connection)

  • IPod touch and camera connector

I have the iPod camera connector for my 5G 30GB iPod video, I have tried to connect the iPod camera connector to the iPod touch and my Nikon D50 but it says this accessory is not supports by the Touch.
Is there a way to make this work? Is it planned as an addition later? BAsically because using the iPod touch for a photo viewer would be awesome.
    Cheers, ILMV

No, the hardware is different. The new connector has hardware that facilitates movie rentals. It is possible that this interferes with the camera connector in the same way it does with a large number of other accessories that worked with previous generations of iPods with dock connectors but which do NOT work with the new iPods.
But it really doesn't matter. The "new" iPods have been out for almost six months. The camera connector was never a big seller. If it had been a money maker for Apple, they either would have release a new one or, in your theory, released a software upgrade so they could keep selling them. They haven't. The odds are that they never will. Go buy a stack of memory cards. They're cheap these days.

  • IPod 5G and Camera Connector

I have a 5G iPod and purchased the iPod camera connector. I want to be able to use a card reader with the connector, but so far have had no luck. I have tested the following:
    Lacie Imatium 15-in-1 reader
    Sandisk
    Verbatum
    Dlink
    Dazzle
So far no luck. I have heard that the Belkin Hi-Speed 15-in-1 reader works, but I have yet to have confirmation of this. As well I have contacted Apple support and they have not been of any help.
If anyone has accomplished this please post the type of reader that was used.
    Thanks

  • IPod Classic and Camera Connector

Apparently Apple's camera connector will not work with the classic (?) Hopefully they will release as I purchased the 160 gig and should have a lot of space left. What are the alternatives? Apple release an updated version please for the Classic.

yes this is true. If you search in this forum you'll see more discussion of the topic. Send feedback to apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html and request that they fix the issue via firware. Of course we don't know if that's even possible because maybe they changed the hardware such that there is no going back. Very frustrating.

Even after i reinstalled these apps it is still getting stuck and it is very very slow. Is this what i get after paying so much money for ipod. Is this what i get very poor perfomance.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.

  • Ipod camera connector with CANON 350D

    Hi everybody!
I'm trying to connect camera connector with my photocamera but ipod continuosly tell me: "format non supported". I have set my 350D in PTP mode, as apple recommended in the compatibility list, but nothing changes.
    What can I do?
    tnx!
    Manu

You should consider to buy a canon 20 D. it's a lot better then the 350D i you would not have those kind of problems!
    just kidding!
wasn't suppose to work with the cf card you plug directly in your ipod? i would be much faster?

    WHAT SHOULD I DO

Use the backup of your computer and put the songs back on. If these are iTunes songs you can download them again on your computer and sync the nano.

  • Camera connector with 1.0 firmware?

Anybody use camera connector with the original firmware (1.0) of ipod 5g? At store web page of apple tell you that is necessary the 1.1 version of iphoto but i don´t know if i have a pc and i don´t have iphoto can i to use camera connector.
    thanks

    Ivan,
The version 1.1 requirement refers to iPod photo software version 1.1 (for the older iPod)
The 5G iPod version of 1.0 should be compatible with the iPod camera connector.

  • Camera Connector with SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus USB

    Hi,
I recently got hold of this SD card with a USB connector built in, in the hope that I could connect it straight to my iPod Photo via the camera connector. I have been using the camera connector with the Belkin USB2 17-in-1 card reader, but hoped i could ditch the reader and have less to carry.
Basically this SD/USB card does not work.. Fair enough, its not listed as compatible, but the Belkin media reader is not listed either.
The thing that puzzles me, is that the SD card shows as a MassStorage device when connected to the powerbook via its USB connector, the same as the media reader (Apple say check this and it should work) the only other thing is the power maybe, the card says 500mA, so i check the card reader and that is 500mA also.
So, is this something that maybe one day might work as more devices become compatible, or do i cut my losses now, and put the thing on ebay, and just get a cheaper standard SD card, and go back to lugging the media reader with me.
Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Keith.

Well now you've got the card in FAT_32 having formatted it in Disk Utility I can't work out what's not working. I suggest you restart the Mac and switch off all your devices and try again.
It may also be worth re-formating the card using the phone or camera (if possible). I suspect the problem here is that you're trying to access a 4Gb card through a camera that may or may not support 4Gb cards. Have a look at this compatiblity list.
It may be worth considering a card reader if this is the case. They aren't expensive and will be much quicker and easier than connecting through the camera. Unless of course it works if you connect your phone via USB using the k750i's USB Mass Storage facility.

  • Camera connector with a usb media reader.

Has anyone used the camera connector with a usb memory reader? One of the many reasons I bought the ipod was to dump photos to it from one media card while I'm shooting on another. I bought the belkin media reader but the video ipod doesn't support it. If you have been able to dump photos from a media card with using your camera please let me know what you devices you were using? I have heard that the battery drains quickly when transfering photos.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try Soft reseting your ipod, then Plug your card reader into the Camera connector before you attach it to your iPod, then plug everything in then it might work if not, this is what i'm using to do it.
Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 15-in-1 Media Card Reader/Writer (model number: F5U249ea) Sandisk 512mb Ultra 2 compact flash card, any card will do and the camera connector, i hook everything up, wait a few seconds then it tells me to transfer whatever amount is on the card.
Where can i dump the photo's on doucarve??

Can not load the Organizer from the icon at the bottom of  Editor screen, from the icon on the MacBook Air dock (OS 10.10.2),  nor from the file in applications located with Finder.
I have tried without success to access Organizer after turning off and on the scanner, turning off and on the computer, loading a fresh copy of PSE12 from the CD, and restoring default preferences.  I have searched on line for other options but not  found any.
