Using ipod charge adapter with an iphone?

I was wondering if the ipod charge cable is compatiable with my iphone and vice versa? The man at att said no. What can someone else tell me about this question?

The chargers and cables for all iPods that use a USB dock cable are compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The only incompatible chargers/cables are the older FireWire based ones. Note that some car chargers for iPods actually use the FireWire pins in the dock connector for power, and thus do not work with the iPhone 3G or 3GS. It won't hurt to try, you'll just get a message on the phone that 'charging is not supported with this accessory'.

You can use the A1102 charger to charge the iphone 5 as long as you have the lightning adapter.  I just got off the phone with an apple tech, and you can use the A1102 charger to charge the Iphone 5.

  • Will any iPod charger work with iPhone

Does any (Apple) iPod charger work with iPhone? I would like to charge the phone in different places without carrying the wall charger with me all the time. I got my regular iPod charger and was hoping that I can use it. I noticed that the wall charger that comes with the phone has a lower amp rating than the iPod charger I have. I would think this shouldn't make a difference unless everything else (e.g., the connector wiring) is the same.
    Does anyone know for sure?
    Thanks

I believe so. Check this link http://www.apple.com/iphone/questionsandanswers.html scroll to the section Accessories for iPhone and read the first one.
I'd imagine if there was a problem they would have mentioned it. Also, if it makes you feel any better, I've been using iPod charger to charge my phone and so far it's been working fine.

  • Can I use my Philips SJM3140 iPod Docking Cradle with my iPhone?

Can I use my Philips SJM3140 iPod Docking Cradle with my iPhone 4s?

Pete, I'm grateful to have your comments... ! If you're like me, you may have the impression that the quality of technical support -- and documentation -- for third party hardware and software has declined dramatically over the past 10 - 15 years...
So my concern was that somehow different signal assignments / or current would be applied to the 30 pins (between the two devices), and that might result in frying my new iPhone 4s.
It would, nevertheless, be dandy to have the ability to 1.) charge the iPhone; 2.) transfer files over USB (from a third device); 3.) output stereo audio from the iPhone 4s via the (included) stereo RCA plugs to various devices; and, possibly, 4.) output video, via the Philips's S-Video port, to another device or monitor.
Your comments are helpful. And perhaps I can trust that the pin assignments are the same for the iPhone 4s and the iPod (for example, the 4th Generation iPod with color display).

Hi.i really need to know why some iphone 5s lose wi-fi or bluetooth comminucations after a while?!? i just charged it with my iphone 4's adapter,it can be the reason?!?!?!?! i dont think so....

It would help to have more details about when your phone loses wi-fi or bluetooth.
When an iPhone locks itself it turns Wi-fi off.  I haven't had any problems with bluetooth turning off.
You might try restarting the phone. Double tap the home button to open the multitasking drawer, tap and hold on any icon in the drawer until the icons start to jiggle, tap the X that appears on the upper corner of each icon to shut them all down.  Press the Home button to close the drawer.  Then hold the sleep/wake button down and wait for the Slide to Power Off slider appears.  Slide it and wait for the phone to shut down.  Wait a few seconds and then press and hold the  sleep/wake button again until the Apple logo appears and the phone restarts.
You can also reset your network settings, go to Settings => General => Reset Network Settings.  You will have to reconnect and enter passwords for any wi-fi networks that you normally connect to after you do this.
Let us know if this doesn't help.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Hello i try to use another SIM card with my iphone 4s now it said i need to unlock the phone with my Sim carrier

Hello i try to use another SIM card with my iphone 4s now it said i need to unlock the phone with my Sim carrier ... here is what it says below
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

So..  You need to contact the carrier for the iPhone's original sim card, and request they unlock it.  The carrier is the only one that can unlock the sim of the iPhone.

  • I purchased an used iPod nano 4th with many many songs on it,but when i hooked the usb cable to try and change the name, something went wrong.i had to reset it,thinking my music would still be there, but i lost everything! Is there any way to get these back

I purchased an used iPod Nano 4th.with many, many, many songs and albums on it,but when i plugged the usb cable into my laptop(i am a new comer to computer) i thought i was changing the name and thought i was syncing but something went wrong and everything was gone! is there any way possible to get these back? Please I need Help!!! Thank you!

Was the music purchased via your iTunes account and/or did you buy it from other sources or copy it from your own CDs, or did the music belong to the previous owner ? If the music was yours then you can sync it back to the iPod via your computer's iTunes. If the music is not still on your computer then have you got a backup of it ? If not then for iTunes purchases you might be able to re-download it depending on which country you are in. If the music was put on the iPod by the previous owner then you will need to buy your own copies of it.

  • Using an external GPS with an iPhone 4S

For improved accuracy, I want to use an external GPS with my iPhone 4S. I have purchases a Dual XGPS150A Bluetooth GPS receiver and successfully paired it with the iPhone. Dual's "GPS Status Tool" app reports the GPS data from the device just fine. So now I want to get other apps like MotionX to use the GPS data from the XGPS150A in preference to the iPhone's own GPS.
Dual's technical support assures me this can only be done by putting the iPhone in Airplane Mode then re-enabling Bluetooth. Well that's a showstopper. However, in another post here, I found this statement from BrettAtBadElph: "As long as you are using an Apple-approved external GPS accessory like the Bad Elf, XGPS150, or GNS, you don't have to worry about configuring the GPS source being used. The iOS device will pick the source with the best accuracy, and shut down the internal receiver to save power."
Is BrettAtBadElph correct? If so, can anyone point me to some documentation?

I've received no responses, nor have I found any difinitive info elsewhere. But I can say that testing this weekend has made it clear that that BradAtBadElph is correct -- MotionX is clearly using the XGPS150A GPS data in favor of the iPhone's native GPS.
Funny aside: Dual's GPS Status Tool app is fairly weak -- it cannot dissplay any GPS data if another GPS-consuming app like MotionX or Waze is in memory.

    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • OK to use iPod Power Adapter to charge iPhone?

At the Apple Store, they told me that I could use a power adapter and cable for an iPod with my iPhone. Seems to work fine, charges the battery fine. But I notice that in the tiny print on the side of the iPod power adapter it says, "Output 12V -- .67A". The print on the side of the adapter that came with the iPhone says "Output 5V -- 1A".
Wouldn't want to fry my phone battery with those extra volts.

It's not $29.99 + $19.99. They include with the iPhone both a dock/charger and a power adapter/wall plug charger. But only one cable between either of them and your iPhone. So, if you have a computer in one room and you charge your phone overnight in another room, you need another cable.
One solution is to to use some cable you already have, that fits, such as I did once, from an iPod 2 or 3 years old. But I had to use the power adapter that came with that cable/iPod, since the USB cable end was different. It said output: 12V. the iphone power adapter said output: 5V.
So, although the cable fit and the iPhone charged seemingly fine, I was not comfortable charging my $600 iphone with a 12v charger when the one that came with it was a 5v charger. I paid just $19.99 for a duplicate cable to the one that came with the iPhone, used the 5v power adapter that also came with it. Just in case. The apple guy at the "genius bar" agreed: it "ought to work" but, yeah...it's disconcerting...
So, that's the story. I now have a dock on my iMac and a power-adapter from the wall in my bedroom. Both supplied with the iPhone. Both using identicl cables.
What I would like to know, from some tech person, is YEA or NAY. The 5v and 12v iphone and ipod adapters are interchangeable OR they are not and WHY. Otherwise, we are all just speculating.

  • Using old AC adapter with 5G iPod

I wouldn't think there's a problem with this, but just to be on the safe side, is there any danger in using my old firewire cable and AC adapter with the new iPod? I hate using the computer to charge it, and I've already got two of the old adapters.

It'll work fine. You just can't sync with firewire
