Using ipod in foreign country

I'm currently in China & my (American-bought) ipod mini really needs to be charged. Could i just connect it onto a laptop here at work to charge or would I need a converter? I believe there is a power difference here (china is at about 220 watts whereas the States is under 200) and it'd be nice if I didn't have a fried Ipod when I return to the States. :P

This has more to do with your laptop than your iPod. If your laptop will work in the country you are in, then you can safely connect the iPod and charge it. No converter needed.
And it's volts, not watts.

  • How do I unlock my iPhone in order to use in a foreign country?

I'm about to have a short vacation to a different country and I just want to know how to make my iPhone (in the US) becomes useable in a different country.

Only the carrier to whom it is now locked can unlock it assuming they are able and willing. You would then need to obtain service and a SIM to use in the country you are visiting.

  • How to use iPhone in foreign country with non US career?

I want to pre-order iPhone 5 from this internet site (US), but I live in Slovenia. Am I going to be able to use my phone with slovenian career? if not, how could I be able to do that that? I heard something abou unlocking the phone, but I don't know where, how and who could/should do that?

In order to be able to order from the U.S. Online Store you need to have a U.S. credit card and the device has to be shipped to a U.S. address.

  • Use in a Foreign Country

Can an MacBook be used in the Philippines? If so, is there anything needed besides the power conversion?
    Mark

All portable Macs come with an auto switching power supply, so all you need to get is a set of plug converters like THESE.

  • Connecting ipod in foreign country

Ok, so I am heading to Europe next month for a few weeks and thats nearly 20 hours of flying all together. I have 2 questions..1) Will my ipod shuffle & charger be compatible with a computer in Germany? 2) The only way I know to charge the ipod is to connect it to the computer but I know I can only do that to my home computer. How do I charge it then from elsewhere?

You can get a USB power adapter to plug your iPod cable into.

  • Using iPhone in Foreign Country

If I charge my iPhone in Greece or Israel, do I need only an adapter for the plug or do I have to get a converter or transformer?

I am in the US with a 100 volt plug for my USB cable from my iPhone.

  • USB Adapter's Use in foreign country that does not use standard 110 and

I am not taking my lap top on my trip to NZ but want to charge battery on IPod. Will the Apple USB Adapter work with an additional adapter for the different current and plug in that foreign country?

Yes, you can take the USB adaptor. New Zealand uses 230V. All you need is a plug adaptor so you can plug it into the socket. New Zealand uses the same plugs as Australia.

  • TS1646 I live in a foreign country and would like to use my US credit card (which has my current foreign address) to make purchase in the US App Store. How do I do this?

I live in Japan but I would like to use my US credit card to make purchases in the US Store.
I had no problems with this previously, but I recently informed my US bank of my Japanese address and changed it (had to).
There is no way to input my Japanese address (so that it matches the bank information) in the fields for the US App Store (which has no foreign country fields, you are limited to having to fill in the US state field, flags me for phone number area code differences, etc.).
When I hit the change country button: A) It took me to the Japanese App Store; B) I could not use my US credit card there (despite my Japanese address).
Yes, I may want to make purchases in the Japanese App Store in the future (I am bilingual), but the selections are different depending on the country.
Now I can make purchases in neither country.
I want to make purchases in the US Store from Japan.
Help! I feel like I am getting punished for being global. (The world should be getting smaller, more interconnected, and more convenient with the Internet --- not the opposite!)

Well, I can certainly understand the licensing argument if I were using a Japanese credit card with a Japanse address and making a purchase with Japanese yen from the US Store from Japan.
When I am making a purchase with US card from the US store with US dollars, the argument becomes a bit suspect  (I know it is Apple's, not your argument).
it is just kind of a paradoxical situation and I am hoping Apple will offer some sort of solution. We can always hoe, right?
    Thank you for your reply.

  • Can I use my original iphone 1 in foreign country?

Can I use my original iphone 1 (cost $499) in foreign country?  Thanks.

You can certainly use it.  You would need an international roaming plan.
It is very unlikely that you can use a foreign SIM card.  Almost all, if not all, original iphones are carrier locked.
Depending on in what country you reside, then your carrier may unlock it.  No U.S. carrier provides unlocking at all.

  • How would 2 people call each other using facetime if both were in a foreign country but staying at different locations within that country?

How would 2 people call each other using facetime if both were in a foreign country but staying at different locations within that country?

It's tied to the Apple ID also - I believe it would use that to find the right person/device.
Perhaps this article would help: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319. It looks like you may want to go in through your contacts and make the call.
If you're concerned about data charges, put your phone in Airplane mode before trying to Facetime. That will prevent it from trying to make a call over your cellular data.

  • HT1807 Urgent Please: Connecting To Network in Foreign Country

I am in a foreign country (Dubai) and my phone works fine except it cannot connect to a Network. It just says "No Service" in upper left-hand corner. I go to Settings > Carrier > Select Available Carrier (that others with iPhone are using), but nothing.
    Any thoughts?
I cannot call anyone because the phone is not working.

You can get a USB power adapter to plug your iPod cable into.

  • Cost of calling local # in foreign country

What is the cost of calling a local number when I am in a foreign country?  Is it just the same roaming charge I would pay to call a US number from that country?  That's what a Verizon representative told me but it doesn't sound right.
If I am in London, for example, and I have the Global Value Plan will I pay $.99/minute to call a London number or a US number?

        nycityny,
We do not want you to have any surprise charges on your bill. Lets make sure you are able to see exactly what the rates for calling a number in the use while international. • I purchased an used iPod nano 4th with many many songs on it,but when i hooked the usb cable to try and change the name, something went wrong.i had to reset it,thinking my music would still be there, but i lost everything! Is there any way to get these back

I purchased an used iPod Nano 4th.with many, many, many songs and albums on it,but when i plugged the usb cable into my laptop(i am a new comer to computer) i thought i was changing the name and thought i was syncing but something went wrong and everything was gone! is there any way possible to get these back? Please I need Help!!! Thank you!

Was the music purchased via your iTunes account and/or did you buy it from other sources or copy it from your own CDs, or did the music belong to the previous owner ? If the music was yours then you can sync it back to the iPod via your computer's iTunes. If the music is not still on your computer then have you got a backup of it ? If not then for iTunes purchases you might be able to re-download it depending on which country you are in. If the music was put on the iPod by the previous owner then you will need to buy your own copies of it.

  • How do I recover Icloud password if I don't have access to primary/rescue email and I cannot guess the security questions? (I'm in a foreign country and don't have a phone)

I just lost my phone and I'm in a foreign country. I'm thinking I won't get it back, but I'm trying to log on to icloud.com to use find my iphone app. However for whatever reason the same Apple ID has a different password for itunes and icloud. I have no way of calling apple or retreiving my forgotten password online. What do I do?

Without the proper name and password there is nothing you can do.
Your old passord is needed before you can create a new one.
