Using ipod while running

Hi,
I listen to my ipod while I run but have it just sitting in my pocket while I do my thing. As a result it swings around a lot throughout my runs. I've noticed that at about 25 mins in, it starts to skip a lot which I'm sure is a result of the skip protection memory running out. However, I've also noticed the ipod battery seems to drain faster than usual after one of my runs too. I am thinking that skip protection drains a lot of battery power. Is this true?
Thanks
Mike

The iPod loads 25 mins of music onto flash memory before playing. This shouldn't drain any extra batteries because this is the normal way that the iPod plays.
Your battery problem may be the battery slowly dieing. You will get more play out of a single charge if you dont change songs to often. Uninteruppted play makes the battery last longer.

  • Using iPod while riding a bike

Does anyone have any good tips on using an iPod while biking in an urban area? I ride my bike to work and would love to listen to music. The problems are that my iPod's earbuds fall out while I ride and, even if they don't, wind noise drowns out the music. I don't want to deafen myself by cranking the volume all the way up, nor do I want to drown out all the surrounding noises -- cars approaching behind me, sirens, etc. Are there any good compromises? Or should I stick with riding iPod-less?

While riding with headphones is somewhat dangerous, I'd definitely suggest picking up some kind of over the ear headphones instead of the stock head phones. I'd like to reiterate the safety issue. A friend of mine was hit by a car while running with the headphones and volume all the way up.

  • Is it safe to use iPod while it's charging?

Just wondering if it's safe to use the iPod while it's charging with an adapter?

Not only is it safe, using it when charging prevents using up the battery. The battery has a finite number of charge/discharge cycles...

  • Using iPod while charging..

Is it okay to use my iPod while charging? Does it not affect my battery? Thanks.

    Yes, it's OK.

  • Using iPod while recharging

Sometimes I listen to my iPod while it is recharging...
Is this bad for battery consumption? Am I messing up the battery? Maybe I am shortening the life of the battery?
    Thanks

    Oh Cool!
Heh...then I can keep watching movies on and on...nonstop for a whole day.

  • Turning off the skip on ipod while running

Hi all. I am a runner. I like to listen to music while I run. However, with the iphone whenever I run, the music skips. I realize this is a cool feature by shaking the iphone and moving to the next song. However, when I run. I would like to turn this off. Any ideas?

    Set iPhone to shuffle songs:
Tap !http://images.apple.com/iphone/how-to/content/images/il_shuffleblack.png!. Tap !http://images.apple.com/iphone/how-to/content/images/il_shuffleblack.png! again to set iPhone to play songs in order.
!http://images.apple.com/iphone/how-to/content/images/il_shuffle.png! = iPhone is set to shuffle songs.
    !http://images.apple.com/iphone/how-to/content/images/il_shuffleno.png! = iPhone
is set to play songs in order.
You can turn the “Shake to Shuffle” feature on or off in Settings > iPod (it’s on by default).

  • Using ipod while connected

can I use my nano while it is connected to the computer. I get a "do not disconnect" message on the screen and can't seam to use the ipod itself. I want to be able to use the itrip whilst it is connected to to the computer charging but as soon as the usb cable is plugged in it stops playing.
    nano   Windows 2000

    Hi sam,
The "Do Not Disconnect" message is normal. You can play songs from your iPod through iTunes, but you cannot control through the iPod itself. If you want to charge and play at the same time, consider buying a wall charger.

  • Using Finder while running off of DVD

Is there any way to access the Finder to open an application once you are booted from the Mac OS X installation disc? I am trying to use VolumeWorks to partition my drive without erasing it, but I can't do it while I am running off of the system drive. I can't figure out how to access the application or Finder once I am booted from the Mac OS X Disc. Is there any way to do it?

Sorry, the Tiger installation disc does not have Finder available when you boot from it.
Under 10.3 and earlier it was possible to use BootCD <http://www.charlessoft.com> to create a bootable OS X CD with a working Finder and Dock on it. The developer has tried to build Tiger compatible versions but was not able to get them working satisfactorily. As far as I know he has abandoned development of this app. Maybe he'll get it going under 10.5.
I made a 5GB partition on a FireWire drive and installed a bare-bones version of Tiger on it that I can use to boot from in an emergency.

Below information has really help me a lot.It made to look at probable cause..And it was Really funny one.
The report was using a parameter as Trx Date and range partition at back end was on another date field. :).

  • IPod acts crazy while running

    Hi Folks,
Sorry if this is a re-post or if I'm off topic!! I just bought this past December the 4th gen. ipod touch (32 GB) and just for the record it is not jailbroken or anything like that... Any way the device works fine haven't had any trouble. Except everytime I use it while running it gets possessed by the own devil!! It fast forwards (Chimpunk voices), it skips tracks including folders & the voice comand option pops back & forward constantly.. To be honest the whole reason I bought the iPod was to use it while I work-out!! I have used it for long hour drives and it behaves like it was intended to..
I already tried everything.. Hard reset, normal reset it also behaved the same with the old iOS so downgrade is not an option and the same goes for itunes.. All my music goes through an mp3 cleaner/fixer by the way.
Any help will be greatly apreciated!!
    Thanks in advance

  • Using iPod Video while running

I have been told that it is not good to run/workout with your Video iPod. Is this true? The reason I was given was because it would hurt the video card that is in the unit. Some enlightenment please?

Well, it's probably not a good idea to run with a hard drive based iPod, video or otherwise. This has nothing to do with a "video card". It has to do with the moving parts of the hard drive. This parts can get damaged by banged around.
That being said, I used to run with my first generation 5 gig iPod. It was never a problem. That iPod still works (though that battery is almost shot). However, once I got a first gen shuffle, I stopped using it for running. Shuffles are cheap enough to be a consideration as a second iPod. Even the smallest holds enough music for a run and you wouldn't have to worry.

  • Error while running Java application using Crystal Reports 2011

    Hello,
I would like to ask for your help.
    Environment details:
Java based standalone application in Development environment.
Crystal Reports 2011 (no SP applied)
    Oracle 11g ( 32 bit client installed)
    Win7 64 bit OS.
    Workflow:
While running the java application, which will display the reports I am getting the below mentioned error. I guess that is because I am missing the Crystal runtimes (Correct me if I am wrong).
I know that CR2011 do not have any sdks/ jar available for deployment. In this case, which runtimes should I be using? Does installing CR2011 be enough in the development box?
Please provide me the link from which I can download the same.
Let me know if I need to provide more details on this. Any suggestions are most welcome.
    Thank You.
