Using Isync with a Motorola U9 phone

I have been looking to buy one of these phones, I live in Mexico and work in the United States, so there are alot of things I need to know and alot of things I want to know before buying a phone. As I expect it to work seamlessly in both countries.
How it will work with my mac is obviously one of my biggest questions. In searching for this answer I have come across many post/questions and several sites from people wondering why they can't use isync with the phone, even though it is listed as a compatible phone. Well as I have discovered over the years, as i need an unlocked phone to work in both countries, service providers lock their phones for several reasons, 1. so when they **** you off you cant go to another company without buying a new phone as well, and 2. so you have to pay extra to get service that your phone has thru them, a good example of this is if your phone has a MP3 players, the company with the slogan "Get it Now", really means you can get in now but only thru them, for money. 3. I'm sure there is at least a 3! So even though you might own that new Brittany CD, you will have to buy every song at (usually) $2.99 or more, if you want to use them as MP3's or ringtones. Some phone that company locks more that 50% of the features so you either have to buy from them, of they are not set up to do the hight tech stuff your phone was. (I'm sure thats more an issue with phones from asia!)
On the second hand you have to pay to have a phone unlocked, wether you buy the stuff to do it yourself, or someone else does it, if it is the latter it can take several days with some phones.
Your best option is to only buy unlocked phones in the future, we need to stop the telecom companies taking advantage of us!
Well i hope this helps someone, i could reply to any specific post.

I found the answer, for those who are interested.

I have tried this "hack", and it works like a charm.

do you think this also would work with 10.3.9/iSync 1.5?

  • Using isync with my portable phone samsung E880. Please help

I want to use isync with my portable phone, but it is not recognize.
    Do you have the solution?

The Samsung E880 is not supported by iSync, and as it is about two years old now, is unlikely to be.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html
Only 2 of the latest Samsung models are supported by iSync, and those models were only added in the past month with the 10.4.9 update.
It may be worth contacting www.novamedia.de - they have added iSync support for an additional 3 Samsung models, and may be able to advise whether support for your phone is possible.

  • Do I use iSync with iPhone and iTunes?

I am a fairly new iPhone user and am having some syncing problems. I sync my iPhone to iTunes via a USB cable. On about every other sync, the contacts seem to hang and take a long time to complete (although eventually they do). During this time, the iSync icon on the menu bar spins and if I put my cursor over it the top line says "Canceling Sync".
I do not use MobileMe or Bluetooth to sync. I am trying to understand if I even need iSync activated? I went into the iSync preferences an unchecked the box that says Enable Syncing on this Computer but then it seems that nothing syncs over USB. But I've seen other posts that imply that you only use iSync for MobileMe, or Bluetooth or a phone that supports it (not an iPhone).
Can someone give me some direction on this. I'm thinking my contact ync issue is somehow related to this iSync issue but I can't be sure at this point.
    Thanks,
    David

The iSync application is only used for syncing non-Apple mobile phones, however, syncing for the computer does have to be anabled in iSync's preferences.
You can't sync the iPhone over Bluetooth or using iSync. You either use MobileMe for over the air syncing, or iTunes for USB syncing.
I would suggest posting in one of the iPhone specific forums here:

  • Using Smartsuite with a range of phones

I have two types of phone which I want to use with Nokia Smart Suite,
I have several 6310i's which I regularly use with v 4.88 to download SMS messages etc.
I now have a 6230i which is my everyday phone. I would like to use infra red and PC suite with both phones and have 2 issues.
1.) I cannot seem to load both PC suite versions without getting conflicts on the communications side as they appear to use different communication 'stubs'
2.) Some of the features of the old PC suite are missing from the new PC suite - e.g. Phone Editor which I used to use for managing my SMS's (or have I just not installed it?)

I think you have made all the right conclusions, you cannot really use 4.88 and 6.xx PC Suite in same PC and new PC Suite is lacking the old Phone Editor application.
These changes in Nokia PC Suite happened at the same time when PC Suite started to support all Nokia phone models, the "feature phones" (S40 phones) and then the smart phones which have Symbian operating system imbedded, i.e. S60 phones and the new communicators 9300, 9300i and 9500. At the same time when this happened, the old PC Suite's for the smart phones were left behind and PC Suite 6.xx versions started to support smart phones also. And some old applications like Phone Editor, Sound Converter and lately also Image Converter have been dropped from application list.
What you can do is to use the 6230i and PC Suite 6.7 and you can still syncronise the 6310i with it (At least that's what I head in these forums that it can be syncronised although PC Suite may indicate that the connection is not happening, PC Sync still recognises it)

Not as a cellular phone.  There are apps that allow you to use the internet for phone calls... VOIP apps.  Skype is one.

  • Trying to use iSync with new iPhone using Mac OSX 10.4.11

Is this operating system to old for iSync to work?? Followed the instructions for connecting iPhone / iMac and nothing happens in iTunes.

iSync has nothing to do with syncing the iPhone. iSync is only for non-Apple mobile devices.
The minimum Mac system requirements for the iPhone are:
    • Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
    • Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later
    • iTunes 8.2 or later
You'd probably be better off asking in one the dedicated iPhone forums starting here:

  • Using isync & Nokia 6500 Slide

    Hey,
I don't seem to be able to use isync with my Nokia 6500 slide and it's killing me! They're both a mess now. Is there any way to use isync with the 6500????
    Cheers

You need an iSync Plugin to add support for that phone. The following Google search gives a variety of options, some from this very forum:

  • Noise when using headphones with new Lumia 630

I've got a new Lumia 630 today and when I tried to use headphones with it at first phone did not recognize them ( I still have to reconnect them sometimes) but the main problem is a hiss noise when phone produces sounds. It could be music, video or keyboard clicks, whatever. I can hear it even when loudness of music player is set to 0. Is it known issue? Or is it problem with my phone? I tried another headphones and have the same problem, maybe a less noise.
Sorry for my English. Need your help!

    Hi wtfwithmyphone,
    Welcome to the forum!
Does it only happen when using the phone with headsets? Do you also hear this noise when the audio is played via loudspeaker? What are the models of the headsets that you tried with your Nokia Lumia 630?
Note that the Nokia Lumia 630 supports headsets that have American Headset Jack (AHJ) ports. Using other types of headsets may cause performance issues, like background noise and audio quality distortion. This link will show you some of the headset models supported by the Lumia 630: Accessories for Lumia 630 - Headsets.

  • ISync  cannot connect with my Motorola A 1000 phone ... Help needed please.

My motorola A 1000 phone cannot hook up to my Powerbook G4 ... tried several times ....
I checked the iSync supported phone list ... Motorola A 1000 is not supported ...
I would really like to use this with my Powerbook ....I tried bluetooth it recognises the phone and connects only to send files ....
I would need to use the phone as a modem to connect to the internet ... I have the USB cable for the phone ...
I read in one forum a omplicated way of making it work as this phone model is similar to Sony Ericsson P900 ... which is a supported phone for iSync ...after going through some very difficult steps the iSync recognises Motorola A 1000 as Sony Ericsson P900 and works ...
    Please advice ....

There is a very simple way to make it work: purchase and install the Nova Media plugin package, which supports your Motorola 1000 and dozens of other mobile handsets.
The package synchronizes only via Bluetooth, and requires that you be running Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later.

  • Syncing contacts with my mac and my phone using isync

    Hi
I have had a macbook for the past 7 months and have bee using isync on an irregular basis and with different mobile phones. So far it has been going well.
I have recently acquired a nokia 6230 and i have synced it with isync. I thought it had worked.
I realised the other day that a number of contacts are missing.
I went back to isync and tried to re-sync my phone to get the entries on my mac to be sent to my phone, but no. I sync seems to think that if a contact isn't present on my phone, then its not needed. The missing contacts are definatly on my mac (31 to be precise) and all i want to do is get them to be sent to my phone along with any other contacts i may add via address book in the future.
Any suggestions would be amazingly helpful!
    Thanks a mil

ok fair play, you've helped hugely and its kinda impressive
its work, exceot for one slight problem, theres about 20 contacts that sync differently compared to the others. They appear with a dash before the name e.g. - John....
any ideas?? like its easy to fix but its just seriously annoying.
thanks a mil, great having people like yourself!!

  • ISync with Motorola PEBL U9

Is it possible to use ISync to synchronize contacts with the brand new Motorola ROKR PEBL U9? I have tried to do it connecting the cell phone through USB and Bluetooth, but ISync does not recognize the cell phone when I connect it through the USB Port, and it says that it is not compatible with the cell phone when I try to make a connection through Bluetooth. Please let me know if there is a way to do it. Thanks!

Hey if want to sync just your contacts. Go to your phone settings and change your connection settings to memory card. Even if you dont have one. it will connect as your phone's memory. What you can do is. Move each vCard from address book and put it in your phone's memory. From there, when in your phone's address book go to add a contact then go to from memory. Its simple. But it is true that a isync plugin would be more helpful

  • Someone using isync on tiger with Nokia 6600 successfully?

    Hi all
Any one of you using isync on tiger with Nokia 6600 successfully?
If yes please tell us what firmware is on the Nokia. Because I have the following problem:
I have 10.3.9 on my G5 and I syncronize my (old) Nokia 6600 (V 3.42.1) with isync, without any problem.
Now, I bot a second 6600 and there is the firmware V 5.27.0 installed. I am not able to synch with that phone.
    TIA

    Hi Niels
Many thanks for your kind help!
To get the unique serial number of your 6600 you have to type: *#06#
This code works for most of the nokias afaik.
To get the firmware version you need to type: *#0000#
    TIA
