Using iTunes on a MacBook Air.

I have a MacBook Air wih minimal amount of memory (I think it's 4/5gb).  I have approximately 60gb worth of music on an external hard drive. I have an ipod classic (160gb). Previously I have managed music on a family iMac that has a far larger memory.  This is no longer possible.
I'm wanting to be able to manage my music on my own MacBook Air.  I am unable to fund more memory on the iCloud so this sn't an option.  Basically, I guess what I'm wanting to do is be able to access my music on my hard drive via iTunes so I can create playlists and ultimately sync my ipod to the music stored on my hard drive.  I haven't yet attempted this and would be grateful of any advice / tips / instructions that will help me on my way.
Many, many thanks in advance

Sorry, I really should have explained this better. Of course my MacBook Air doesn't have a CD-ROM. So, I have to use the CD-ROM remotely that is on my iMac. When I insert a music CD into the iMac, the iMac recognizes it and asks if I want to down load the songs. I say no, because I want to download them to my MacBook Air.
I open iTunes on the MacBook Air and choose File/Library/Import Playlist. I select the remote drive with the music CD-ROM and choose all of the tracks. Magically, the music is transerred to my MacBook Air - yeah. Unfortunately none of the album info (execpt the track names) is imported. So you see, there's the problem.

  • HT1689 I bought an app on my iphone, and want to use it on my MacBook Air.  When I click on the icon on the MacBook, it won't open.  Do I have to buy the same app again for my MacBook Air?

I bought a real estate app on my iphone.  I want to use it on my MacBook Air because of the larger screen.  I see the icon in my Itunes account, and when I click it to open it, it won't do anything.  Do I have to purchase the app again to use on my MacBook Air.  Thanks!

The app you got only works with iPhones, iPods touch and iPads, but not with Macs. That's because Macs use a different operating system that requires different applications, so you have to purchase the application for the Mac

  • How to create dvd/cd image using super drive in MacBook Air

I have MacBook Air and also Apple Supper drive for the same. can u help me to find dvd/cd burrning and copy software. and also guide me "how to create dvd/cd image using super drive in MacBook Air"

First to create a video DVD you need to use DVD authoring software like iDVD.  You can purchase it from the online Apple Store while supplies last.
For creating a disk image use Disk Utility.
To burn items to a CD or data DVD just insert the disc in the optical drive and drag those items onto the disc icon on the Desktop.  Then drag the disc icon to the Trash icon in the Dock which changes to a Burn icon.

  • HT1364 Move itunes library from a windows computer and import this library to itunes on a macbook air

Is it possible to move itunes library from a windows computer to an external drive (time capsule) while, keeping all the playlist, ratings, plays etc. And importing this library to itunes on a macbook air? And how is it done? The media files should stay on the external drive since there is not enough space on the macbook air.
    Regards
    Søren

Hey man. Thanks a lot for the reply (hold the options instead of command key while launching). My old itunes library is now on my new computer in itunes, but the mp3 files are not in the same itunes folder. Where do I place these or what do I do to play them in my new itunes library?
All the songs in the library have exclamation marks in front of them because itunes can't find them.
    Thanks again

  • HT4437 Can I use AirPlay on my MacBook Air?  I have an iMac, and it works great with Apple TV.

Can I use AirPlay on my MacBook Air?  I have an iMac, and it works great with Apple TV.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
AirPlay Mirroring requires a Mid 2011 or newer MacBook Air. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 If it's compatible, you have two possibilities:
    1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. Then, you will be able to turn on AirPlay on System Preferences > Displays.
    2. Keep with OS X Lion and use AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
    Both options work properly

  • Downloads from iTunes on my macbook air do not download on my desktop but remain in iTunes folder which refuse to open for use.

I couldn't get downloads from iTunes to be on the desktop of my Macbook air but they remain in iTunes folder and refuse to open for use. What am I to do?

Downloads of what?  Songs?  Apps?  Books?
If you're talking about apps, then you have downloaded iOS apps which are intended to run on an iPhone or iPad, not a Mac.

  • How to make my iphone work with itunes on new macbook air?

I previously used a PC which I used to put music on my iphone from itunes however I now have a macbook air and I don't know how to change my iphone so that it now recognises my new computer as the right one. I can use my macbook to sync my phone however if I try to drag music or videos onto it it won't work.
    Thanks

An iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7 (minimum) which in turn requires OSX 10.6.8 (minimum) which in turn requires an Intel Mac (which you have).
    1) Make sure your computer meets Snow Leopard technical specifications - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575  This mostly means making sure it is an Intel Mac and has at least 1GB RAM (at least 2 GB is recommended).  Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window to "About This Mac".  To check RAM continue to "More Info...".  It should say you have at least 1GB of "memory".
    2) Buy a Snow Leopard disc from Apple online
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard - USA
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard - UK
or telephone Apple. In the USA: (800) 676-2775 (contact information for other countries: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57)
Alternatively you can buy from online retailers but anticipate paying much more than the original price which is the price still charged by Apple
    3) Backing up your computer before upgrading is always a good idea.
    4) After installing from the DVD, update your Snow Leopard installation using Software Update or manually downloading and installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v.1.1 - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
