Using Itunes Songs

Hey,
Short and sweet,bought my first tune in itunes.Its MPEG4? I DJ and do it through Ableton Live 6.Is there a reason why the MPEG 4 wont load in Ableton?
Any help really appreciated.

You likely bought a protected song. It won't be able to play in most other programs. Some songs are available in an unprotected versions. See the following for more details:

Try:
- Another cable
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Using iTunes songs in Adobe Photoshop Slideshow

I purchased a song through iTunes that I would like to use in a slide show I've created in Adobe Photoshop. I have to use an mp3, wav or wma audio file for my slide show and the song I want to use is MPEG-4 Audio File (Protected). Is there any way to use this song (i.e. convert it to a useable file)? If not, any idea where I can purchase songs in mp3 format?

Yes, that works but unfortunately none of them will sometimes fit in with a specific scene I'm editing. I would like to be able to go to iTunes and buy just one song that I need for that specific scene and iTunes Plus doesn't contain that much yet....I could - of course - burn the song to a CD. At the rate I make family movies, I would end up with a lot of CD's with one song on each because when I make a movie, I want the song ASAP. Well, c'est la vie...

Is there anyway to make it so i can use my iTunes songs with my windows movie maker? I have some songs on there i want to use for background music. If there is anyway please tell me.

They protect it because it is not yours to do with whatever you want, just as a CD is not yours to do with whatever you want.
A copyright allows you to do certain things but it also does not allow you to do certain things such as selling it or relabel it and call it yours.

Problem using iTunes songs in slideshow

I am having a problem using a custom playlist from iTunes. I created a playlist in iTunes, pulled down the songs I wanted to include in the slideshow from the list and it worked. I tried to adjust the length of some songs by using the start and stop time on the Get Info Options tab in iTunes. That worked fine and the songs were shorter. Now that I have added a few more slides and want to adjust the length of the songs again iPhoto will not recognize the changes. Even though the start and stop boxes are no longer checked in iTunes, iPhoto still plays the shorter version of the song. I tried removing it from the custom playlist, I removed them from the iTunes playlist but nothing is working to get the song back to its original length. Can anyone offer any advice? I need to get this fixed before Saturday!

You might try creating a duplicate playlist in iTunes, "Second Try" and copy all the tracks from the first playlist to the second playlist. Now in iPhoto remove the original playlist and add the new playlist. If iPhoto thinks you are adding a different playlist, it may re-read all the tracks properly this time around.

Using iTune songs as ringtones problem?

Hi all, my very first post and no doubt its been asked a million times but I did a quick search and couldn't find it so hence my question!
I have over 200 songs in my iTunes that I used to put on my iPod Shuffle. I upgraded my Blackberry Bold to an iPhone 4 that turned up yesterday. My problem is, that I can't seen to get any of the songs that are now on this phone to work as a ringtone. I did a search online that showed how to use songs bought off iTunes and downloaded straight to the phone as ringtones and also a thread on appleblog? that showed how to shorten down a song to be used as a ringtone but it then had posts underneath the thread saying it wasn't a compatible way of making ringtones with the newer iPhone 4.
Do I have to repay for songs I already have and have already bought through iTunes again to make it a ringtone as thats a bit of a swizz isn't it or am I just doing something wrong?
My iPhone knowledge is basic as I've owned it now for a day lol !!
If its needed its an iPhone 4 I have with OS 4.1 installed

hey everyone, i was hoping someone could help me with something ive been trying to figure out. actually, i dont even 100% know that its possible im just going by word of mouth. I have a friend who apparently uses songs from his itunes library for his cell phone, or so he says. i wanted to know if any of you have done this, if its possible, and...how do i do it?

but even though i can easily change my file to m4r, i dont have the option in itunes 11 to do the 9th step, as it no longer has the 'keep file' option. Any ideass how to overcome this?

Okay, so I was reading another thread about the same issue, but it was for the MAC systems. Didn't find one for Windows systems, so I am going to ask about it. I am attempting to use music upon my iTunes account as ringtones. First off, I can't firgure out how to get them to even show up.. after creating them with the APP. Also, there is no 'Ringtone' folder. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!

ITunes song for DJing?

As I've been doing some research, so far it comes to me that there is no legal way for DJs to use iTunes song for DJing in public performances.
But why most DJing apps have an option to use song from iTunes library for DJing?
Is it really illegal that people had already been sued? Or are there some legal ways to do it (by purchasing license or else)?

DJing with other's song also means that we are promoting their song too. Phil Morse from digitaldjtips assumed that as long as DJs purchase a song legally, they barely face problems
Complete nonsense. I was in the music industry and knew of several instances where a club or DJ used tracks without a license and was reported to the record companys (who employee people in many cities for the sole purpose of checking up on clubs and public venues to make sure they're appropriately licensed). The record companies don't care a fig about some vague "promotion value" of such public performances. All they care about is getting paid directly.
I've read an article says that most clubs have a license for public performing using other's song.
Some do, but many don't and expect the DJ to have the necessary licensing. It would be wise of you to confirm that the club you intend to perform at has such a license. If they don't, then you and the club can both be held liable for copyright violation.
And somes say that if you buy a DJ insurance, you will be able to doing things legally.
Also utter nonsense. Only the companies that hold the rights to a recording or their designated agent (some record companies employ a clearing house to process and grant performance licenses) can grant licenses. Insurance through some other company cannot.
In any case, this forum is for the iTunes Store, and as we said, tracks from the iTunes Store cannot be used commercially. If you need further information on music licensing and legal usage, contact the record companies' licensing department or consult your attorney.

ITunes songs to Phatnoise

I like to buy my music from iTunes when i can but i recently bought a Phatnoise car audio system for my jetta and i have been transfering my music to it. My problem is that nothing i bought from itunes will play on it. I just bought 2 cd's yesterday so i could rip the songs onto my phatnoise and i am very annoyed at having to go out and buy cd's again like its the 90's. Does anyone know how to use itunes songs on an mp3 player other than ipod, which btw i own one as well bu thats for walking around with.

Songs purchased from the ITMS will only play in iTunes and on an iPod. The workaround is to burn a music CD with the purchased music and then import the CD into iTunes as MP3 or AAC files.

And they were definitely purchased from the iTunes store, they show on the account's purchase history (Store > View Account on a computer's iTunes, or you can view the last 90 days purchases via http://reportaproblem.apple.com) ?
You could potentially log into the account on that computer's iTunes (Store > Sign Out to log out of your account, that will then change to a Store > Sign In option) and redownload them by clicking on the id towards the top right of the iTunes screen and Purchased on the popup :

Or do you have a different computer that you could redownload them on and then copy them over to that computer via a flash drive or memory card, and then add them to its iTunes via File > Add To Library ?

No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. The final Apple support solution was to reinstall my operating system. I would prefer not to. Any other ideas?

After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

Short answer:
Click Hide Song(s), it is what you wanted to do...
Long answer:
iTunes in the Cloud is a feature of your iTunes store account that allows you to redownload or stream your past purchases. When you delete a purchased track that is downloaded to your computer (like the first one shown here) you are asked if you also want to hide the song from iCloud. This would remove it from the computer and also stop it showing up with the iCloud symbol as the other tracks from that album (which are not downloaded) do.
If a track shows with the cloud symbol you can play (stream) it by double-clicking the title, or click the cloud symbol to download a local copy to your library. If you try to delete one of these tracks you get a slightly different message confirming that you want to hide the track. Clicking hide will remove the listing from the library and any other device that shows your past purchases.
Should you want to retrieve any item hidden in this way at a later date use Store > View My Account > iTunes in the Cloud > Hidden Purchases > Manage.
To hide all your previous purchases that are not downloaded to your computer use Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
