Using iTunes to burn a CD

I'm trying to convert some ACC files form my iTunes library into MP3 files to burn on a CD and, have run into a problem.
I created a new playlist of 130 songs from my library to burn on to the CD.
27 of the 130 songs need to be in MP3 format.
So, I created another playlist of these 27 songs with the idea of burning these songs to the CD and then, import them back into my iTunes library using the iTunes MP3 encoder option.
13 of the 27 songs are purchased iTune songs and the rest are songs from a store bought CD.
When I choose that playlist with those 27 songs to burn, I end up getting some, not all of the 27 songs along with others that aren't even in the list.
Based on this information, can anyone explain why this is happening or what I am doing wrong?
Is there another way of doing what I want to do?
I thought at one time, iTunes had a feature that when you right clicked on a song in your library, it gave you the option of converting them into MP3 format?
I'm using Windows XP for my OS.

The option to convert (Create XXX Version) is now found under the Advanced menu. Be advised that the format offered for conversion will be whatever your Import setting is set on.
As for converting the purchases, protected files cannot be converted to a different format.
You could try simply burning the disc as an Audio CD, which should play in most audio players.

If you purchase the music from itunes, you will need to burn with itunes. Burning with iTunes for me, doesn't work (freezes) and the songs can not be read when I use Windows Media or Nero.

Join the crowd. I was thinking of going back to a previous version, but had heard that could be a problem. Fortunately, I have more than one computer and things work fine there. I'm thinking it could be the burner in the problem computer, but it was working just fine before the upgrade...

  • Cannot get iTunes to burn audio CD's anymore.

I find that iTunes works well making playlists, organizing my music library, and importing songs however I am unable to burn CD's and have to resort to using Toast 9 application to do so. Whenever I attempt to use iTunes to burn a CD either from my iTunes playlists, it crashes my iMac. The program freezes up during the writing process and I am even unable to eject the CD. I have to shut down and restart the iMac a few times to end the program. Even "Force Quit" doesn't work. Deleting the iTunes .plist file from the Library Preference folder and restarting does'nt correct the problem either. Do you have a solution, or is Toast 9 my only option?

My experience has been... yes. You now need to be an Administrator to burn CDs.
When I upgraded from iTunes 6.05 to 7.0.1.8 on my WinXP Home, the upgrade went okay for my account (an admin). But quite quickly, my teeanage daughter (with a Limited User account) started loudly complaining that she could no longer burn CDs.
If I elevate her priveliges from Limited User to Administrator, then iTunes 7.0.1.8 let's her burn CDs.
I don't want her running as Administrator. Anyone found a solution for this?

One other thread said it was fixed by waiting till prompted by iTunes to insert the blank disk, instead of putting it in first. Does that work? Found a number of hits on this Googling.

  • HELP! I updated my software and can no longer burn cds using iTunes

I followed all of the troubleshooting steps for not being able to burn a cd. I was able to burn cds with other cd burning programs installed on my pc, but itunes was the only program that would not burn the cd correctly. itunes would go through the entire process of burning: check media, check playlist, burn cd, finish burning cd. itunes would even ask me if I wanted to import the new cd into my playlist after it finished "burning" my cd but there was never anything on the cd. I also tried playing the cd using other programs and in other equipment but it never worked. I updated my software recently and I thought I could try to go back to an older version because I never had this problem before. However, when I uninstalled the newer version and tried to reinstall an older version of itunes, the older version of itunes refused to open because my music library was apparently created by the newer version of itunes. I don't know what to do to be able to burn cds again. At this point, I would much rather use another cd burning program but itunes is the only program that will burn the songs that I've purchased from itunes onto a cd.

Notes usually sync with a mail service i.e gmail, yahoo, aol, etc. Do you have a mail account setup on your product? If so, have you went into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Select your mail account > see if notes are toggled on

  • Can't burn cd's using iTunes 7.3 and 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate

Every time I try to burn a CD I get the following error:
"Disc Burner or Software Not Found"
I have checked Device Manager and no problems with the disc burner there. I've even burned cd's from Windows Media Player(and dvd movies with other programs), but I would prefer using iTunes 7.3 to burn cd's. From reading the discussions it is my understanding that iTunes cd burning functionality doesn't work with 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. Is there a fix for this? Please advise.

Here's how to get Itunes to work in Vista and XP64 bit:
Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click on Command Prompt -> Run As Administrator.
    Type “cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64″
    Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll
If you don’t do Run as Administrator, the regsvr32 will fail. Also, be careful to run the command in SysWOW64, not System32! System32 on a 64-bit system actually contains the 64-bit system libraries.

  • I burned a playlist to a data CD using itunes 11 but what is best way to get it import it into another computer with itunes running?

I burned a playlist to a data CD using itunes 11 but what is best way to get it import it into another computer with itunes running?  I get an "X" when trying to copy to the "automatically add to itunes" folder on the 2nd computer.

ok... so i i just made sure all my music is all together in 1 folder and i am going to trash my old music folder that is in the itunes folder... and follow your directions - let itunes start w/new library and bring my music in. Well, last little hurdle/question. I noticed that the place where my itunes library is - on an external drive doesnt have much space left on it. The place where i gathered all my music together in order to start fresh - is a different external drive and has LOTS of free space on it.
SO... i now would like to just keep all that freshly compiled clean music right where it is but in advanced preferences I want to point to that new folder on the drive that has so much more space. So... should i delete the old music then go into itunes with a blank library and change the folder in preferences - quit and go back in and then follow your steps to loading my music? If i change the setting of where itunes looks for the music - that doesn't wipe out the old stuff... it just mixes it all up together right? I dont want that!!
i promise this is the last question - i would love to fix this problem tonight and just be DONE!
Thanks in advance for your patience and knowledge!!

  • Can ITunes be burned using Roxie Toast?

I have a internal burner and I use Toast to burn all my stuff The mac burning software is way to slow!!! Can ITunes be burned using a newer version of Toast? doe it have to be a OS 10 Version so it works??? I am using Toast Lite 6.0.7L but does not work with burning ITunes. Will Toast Titanium @ $79.99 work???
    Thanks

Toast does support AAC (m4a) but not Protected AAC (m4p).
Older versions of Toast did support P. AAC, but Roxio had to remove the feature.
This is part of the Toast 6.1 Version history:
Following discussions with Apple, this version will no longer allow customers to create audio CDs, audio DVDs, or export audio to their hard drive using purchased iTunes music store content.
All versions of QuickTime after 6.5.2. also prevent burning protected music (other than with iTunes).
This is what it says when I drag a protected song to Toast 7.0.2 (the latest version):
    "Songname" was not added.
Only Apple applications, such as iTunes, are
    permitted to burn purchased content.

    Hi s_chuk,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like there may be an issue with the disc burner in your computer since Windows Media Player fails as well.  I would see this article for more information:
