Using Iview in WPC

Hi Experts,
Can anyone tell me how to use the IView in WEBPAGE COMPOSER Page editor ?
I did the following.
System Admin.->System Configuration->Knowledge Man.->Content Man.->Repository Managers->PCD Repository(you must show advanced Options)->(again show advanced options) deactivate the "Hide in Root Folder" option
Now how can I add my PCD to KM ?

Hi suresh ,
As web page compoer doesn't support all the iviews (webdynpro iviews are not supported)so create a folder with permitted iviews and create an entry point for that folder and you need to restart the servlet engine. This link would be helpful to you.

How to get the PCD iviews to WPC

Hi Frndz,
Am new to WPC , here I struck up at to expose my custom PCD iviews to WPC.I have created a folder in PCS "myContent"under this i have some custom ivews which I need to use in WPC but unfortunetly am not ale get those where am able to get the folder which I created "myContent" but not iview under the folder.
Kinldy let me know how to do it, I have doubt here while createing a iview should we do following steps ?
1)Choose Content Administration Portal Content .
2)Choose New iView from the context menu of a folder.
3)Choose Portal component as the source type.
4)Choose the com.sap.nw.wpc.runtime portal archive.
5)Choose the default component.
6)Specify the general properties of the iView.
7)After you have saved the new iView, open it for editing.
8)Choose Web Page Composer from the property category dropdown menu.
9)In the RID of Compound Document property, enter the path to the KM folder representing the Web page.
/wpccontent/Sites/MyWebSite/Web Pages/MyWebPage
or we can expose any kind of iview ?

Automatic height issue with iViews in WPC

Hi. We have EP 7.0 SP18 implemented. I am busy developing websites via WPC. I want to use iViews within the webpages. When I insert the 'KM document iView with no Content filter' into the webpage - it does not fully display. When I preview it within the PCD - it displays correctly with the sizing properties set to Automatic. The iView points to a html file in KM. I have followed SAPNote 1243600 without testing the workaround offered in solution B. Is there any other advise/solution that I can try?

I couldnt find out anywhere clearly specified regarding the usage of Transaction iViews in WPC, instead found out this:-
Not all iViews are suitable for Web pages. Note the following limitations:
■ Web Dynpro iViews are not supported.
■ When you add iViews to Web pages, you cannot set any parameters.
We therefore recommend that you gather permitted iViews in a folder in the Portal Content Directory (PCD) and provide an entry point for this folder in the Web content browser. Editors should only be able to navigate to this folder, not to all the folders in the PCD.
I Guess we can use Transaction Iviews.

I'm updating material masters using iview, basically my iview will generate idocs to sap r/3 system, now my situation is like as per sap we can attach files to that particular material..
i need to do that , how can I do this using iviews, please help me, if you have any sample code, that will update sap r/3 transactions please send that code to me

I'm giving clear idea about my requirement,
In R/3 we've materail master documents.. in that document we can attach files to each materail. No we are implementing same concept in iview(EP).. we are not creating transaction iview in portal.
We've developed an total customizing iview using Java and the purporse of this program is it will create idocs and send it to r/3 system, later on we scheduled backgroung job in r/3 to post all the material idocs.
Now I'm confused about ... how to attach file using this feature.

I have the following :
I have a t.code that call a program ABAP.
I have created a Service IAC using the t.code SICF for this t.code but the problem is that with this the system show error time out.
I created a Iview Transaction in the portal and this workfine. But with this I not can hide buttons.
My idea is create a service and publish this as URL iView calling the service created in the SICF.
How can do this?

Hello,
You should keep in mind that for exposing ABAP transaction codes you need to use the IAC iView type or the transaction iView type. The URL iView should be used for URLs that do not demand authentication.
If you want to use the URL iView anyway, then you will need to have less security... the SICF settings for your service should be changed to allow a generic (preferable not dialog) user ID to authenticate.
The GUI configuration settings should contain, at least:
~webgui 1
~theme SL
~transaction (here you need to tell the t-code you want to call).
IMHO, the best approach is using IAC or transaction iViews. Use URL iView as last resort, keeping in mind the eventual security risks with this option.

Using iView and iPhoto together

I know I'm not supposed to rename photos etc outside of iPhoto; so I haven't. I like the ease of use (auto-start when a camera is connected, sharing over Bonjour/Rendezvouz etc) but batch renaming 0f actual photos, adding comments etc are all done better in iView (I have the pro version due to several update offers).
Can they be run simultaneously?
Can I share a catalog(ue) as easily as with iPhoto?
Is there a way to rename etc then dump back into iP, preserving some kind of structure - I only have about 2.5GB so far, but ...
I have read several threads on similar matters (eg Frederic Rasio, "iPhoto alternative?", 04:29am Aug 14, 2005 CDT) but none really answer my questions)

First, read my post in this thread: Old Toad, "using iphoto with iview" #1, 02:19pm Aug 15, 2005 CDT.
They can be run simultaneously but I would be very careful editing with both. I' did it once on a test library as my other post mentions. iView is so powerful and you can do so much that there may be a high potential of really messing up the iPhoto side of the pair. iView would still work but iPhoto may not. That's why i keep the two separated and use iPhoto primarily for books. With available plugins iView can do everything iPhoto can except make books and the KB effect in slideshows. Slideshows are easier to generate in iPhoto.
In response to your renaming question, my other posts describes how I do that first in iView and then import those photos into iPhoto. You'll just have to work out your own work flow. You might consider an external HD - see A Tale of Woe and a Lesson to be Learned.

Drag and Drop a Portal iView in WPC

I would like to drag and drop a portal iView into a container in the Page Editor.
In a container that allow resource type portal iview, I clicked on the "pencil logo" and click on Add. A "Web Content Browser" is invoked. It there, the portal iView is not found as these iViews are sitting in the Portal Content directory.
Just wondering how do we go about in "drag & drop" a portal iview from this editor.

Procedure
3. In the Portal Content Directory (PCD), create a folder for iViews that Web content managers can use on Web pages.
a. Choose Content Administration u2192 Portal Content and create a folder under Portal Content, for example WebPageiViews.
b. Create permitted iViews in this PCD folder (for example, as delta links).
c. Choose System Administration u2192 Permissions and navigate to the folder you created in step a.
d. In this PCD folder, give the everyone group Read permission, for example, and activate the End User indicator.
4. Show the PCD repository in the KM configuration.
a. Choose System Administration u2192 System Configuration u2192 Knowledge Management u2192 Content Management.
b. Choose Repository Managers u2192 Show Advanced Options u2192 PCD Repository.
c. Deactivate the Hide in Root Folder checkbox.
d. Restart the servlet engine.
5. Create an entry point for the folder that you created in step 1d (for example, /wpccontent/iViews).
See next instead of "Step 1d"...

sharedcontent               Semicolon-separated list of paths to be displayed as global entry points for shared content
Examples of parameter values:

Getting URL parameter in Web Dynpro when using iViews in netweaver portal

Hello Everybody,
I'm having the following issue:
I created a WD-Application which would be accessed directly via URL with some parameters.
Getting these parameters works fine using the logic from the following link:

Now I want to implement my WD-Application into the netweaver portal.
My colleagues customized it that far, so that I can access the WD via a portal-link.
The only thing is, that the logic getting the URL parameters from above does not seem to work in this context any more.
Do I need different coding getting the parameters from the portal URL or is this a matter of missing "portal-customizing"?
Any ideas in this matter are kindly appreciated.

I'm doing the same and it works fine.
Here is my coding:
DATA: lt_url_parameters TYPE tihttpnvp.
data: ls_url_parameters type line of tihttpnvp.
* Read URL Parameters
wdevent->get_data( EXPORTING name = if_wd_application=>all_url_parameters
                     IMPORTING value = lt_url_parameters ).
read table lt_url_parameters into ls_url_parameters with key name = 'MODE'.
if sy-subrc = 0.
    case ls_url_parameters-value.
      when '1'.
      when '2'.
   endcase.
endif.
Check the following:
1.) are you using the event handler "HANDLEDEFAULT" of your WINDOW to get the url parameters?!
2.) in the portal iview with your wd application, the property "Application Parameters" has to be filled (in my example: mode=1)
If you need the value in the init method of your first view, you can store the parameter in an attribute of your component controler and read it in your view.

I want to create iView using exixting template .but when I click the check box to create iView using exixting templates
and hit next its not taking me to list options of existing teplate.
I am not getting any error just getting white page instead of taking me to the liat of all existing templates.
Any Idea Why its behaving like this.

Urgent: How to redirect Portal to an external URL on logoff using iViews?

Hi,
Please help me with the below query-
We need to redirect the Portal to an external URL on logoff.
i) But, the Portal is a shared service we cannot make use of the exit URL functionality in the Portal.
ii) Only for one service we need to redirect the URL
Can it be done by changing the Masthead iView - LogoffConfirmMsg.jsp ?
I am new to portal, please help urgently.

You may need to try this:
In Logoffconfirmmessage.jsp there is a java script function called logoff()
function logoff()
        if (EPCM.getUAType() == EPCM.MSIE)
            window.returnValue = 'logoff';
        else
            window.opener.logoff();
        closeWindow();
What you could do here is place that code just before closeWindow()
Yes, you could try window.top.location.href="http://.......";
Try this and let me know because I have a feeling that this will change the URL of the confirm message. Not sure though...

Using iview "window features" to maximize window

Hi people,
I need to setup an iview to open in a new window,
(property Launch in New Window= Display in Separate Window) and that window needs to be maximized. How can i do this? I was trying to set in the window features "height=screen.height,width=screen.width" but is not working. And the field "Width of external window" only accepts integers ....
Can anyone help me with this?

Hi,
I added the following:
height=' + screen.availHeight + 'px,width=' + screen.availWidth + 'px,resizable=yes,top=0,left=0
the begin and end quotes are added by the framework.
I'm using the "avail" properties of javascript screen object, because it should allow the window to expand just until de windows toolbar. But this didn't did do what is supose to do, so the window is openning "maximized" full screen and the windows tool bar is covering the bottom of the window.
If you find a solution to this last detail, let me know.
