Using iWeb to Share Videos among a group.

I have a website that I created for a group using iWeb '09 that is hosted by mobileme.
Part of the site features quicktime movies I have uploaded to the site to share with the group, and I would like to enable other group members to post qt videos on the site as well. What's the easiest way to do this?
Is there another way besides having people send the videos to me and having me put them up via iWeb?
I'd like to be able for people to post some text along with each video, from their own location not my host computer. Is there a way for people to add videos to one of my webpages?

Bruce:
You could create a MobileMe gallery in iPhoto, permit visitors to add to it and then embed the MMe gallery in your web page like this: MobileMe Galleries and Quicktime Movies.
If you have more than one MobileMe gallery and don't want visitors to have access to all of them just set the movie gallery's Settings as shown in this screenshot:

  • Using iWeb to Share mp3 Files

I would like to set up a page on a website made with iWeb to which I can post mp3 files of personal recordings of rehearsals I make with my barbershop quartet. I record the rehearsals using a Sony Minidisc recorder. With Garage Band I create a music project with a "Real Instrument" track and record the rehearsal/song into Garage Band. I then send the project to iTunes, and then convert the file into an mp3 file. I've posted these files to my iWeb-created website and published the site. They show up there as Quicktime files though. Although they can be played, they can't be downloaded by my pc friends so that they can burn them to CD's like other mp3 files, for their own reherasal use. Is there a way I can post these mp3 files so that others can download them?
    Thanks..

Instead of dragging and dropping the .mp3 files to your iWeb page (and making them into QT movies), you could just make links on your page either graphics or text and the use the Inspector hyperlink tab to attach the .mp3 files for download.

  • Share an ASM disk group among multiple nodes

    According to Oracle documentation:
*“To share an ASM disk group among multiple nodes, you must install Oracle Cluster ware on all of the nodes, regardless of whether you install Oracle RAC on the nodes”.*
And if I understand it right to share the same ASM storage group from multiple nodes from separate RACs or multiple non-RAC nodes ASM instances in those nodes need to communicate to synchronize ASM related metadata using same technique like cache fusions.
My question is how this ASM communication take place among different ASM instances located in different RACs and standalone servers. Do we have to have some kind of Interconnect settings among the nodes?

    Hi,
ASM and database instances require shared access to the disks in a disk group. ASM instances manage the metadata of the disk group and provide file layout information to the database instances.
ASM instances can be clustered using Oracle Clusterware; there is one ASM instance for each cluster node. If there are several database instances for different databases on the same node, then the database instances share the same single ASM instance on that node.
If the ASM instance on a node fails, then all of the database instances on that node also fail. Unlike a file system failure, an ASM instance failure does not require restarting the operating system. In an Oracle RAC environment, the ASM and database instances on the surviving nodes automatically recover from an ASM instance failure on a node.

  • Can't get Quicktime videos to play once uploaded - using iWeb 08

Please help. I just updated my work website and uploaded a few quicktime videos of my TV spots. These same spots were uploaded and played fine on my last website update last year. But this time around, they're not working so well. Once uploaded, if you click on the controls under the screen, they don't respond. If you double-click the actual screen, the video starts and stops playing.
How can I get my quicktime videos to play like they're supposed to on my site? I'm using iWeb 08 and my version of Safari is 5.0.2.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked. However, it's three different videos on three different pages, and each video is pretty much the only thing on each page.
That would be great if you would take the time to access my site and see if you can find what the problem is. My URL is www.haleyturner.com. Click on the first square, the second square, and the last square to access the quicktime video pages.

  • Using iWeb 09 to create website for showreel and videos

    Hello,
I'm an independent film maker and I am looking to set up my own website to show my work on. Seeing how iWeb 09 finally allows you to publish your website to a host via FTP, I wondered if anyone could answer some questions for me - I have googled some stuff but have not come up with any satisfactory answers.
Okay, so basically I want a really simple website - incredibly simple in fact. All I want to do is have live streaming video (like the movie trailers on apples movie trailer website) for my own films. Of course, I want the videos to be of the highest quality (with some HD stuff as well). I have found a web host that offers unlimited web-space and bandwidth/traffic for a very cheap price each month, so is it simply a case of dragging a QT movie file into iWeb 09, publish it via FTP, and hey presto, people can view my films in high quality on the web? Is it really that simple or is there a catch?
Also, I may want to show some videos encoded with Flash, not QT. Is that still possible using iWeb 09?
Many, many thanks if you can clear up these queries for me, as I cannot seem to find any clear info anywhere else.
    George
P.S. I will be using FCP, not iMovie, to create and export films. Since they can both export QT files, I presume this will not be a problem?

George ~ Yes, there's a catch. Your videos will become part of iWeb's Domain file which may make it slow to open in iWeb, make backups and re-publish everything (if needed). Better to upload your videos separately to your server and embed them into your iWeb site.
iWeb '09 makes this easy if you upload your videos to YouTube: iWeb '09 has a new YouTube widget to embed your videos into your iWeb page:
    http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/#widgets
...For high definition video, YouTube was recently ranked the best of several video sites:
Which HD video Web service is the best?
    See also this article:
YouTube officially enables HQ in embedded videos
Also, I may want to show some videos encoded with Flash, not QT. Is that still possible using iWeb 09?
If you're concerned that some PC users won't have QT and won't want to install it, I think if you go the embedded YouTube route, almost all PC or Mac users will be able to view your videos — because "videos on YouTube are streamed through an Adobe Flash player."
If you'd prefer to use Flash in iWeb, this article may help:

I have many videos on my Photoshop Album Starter Edition account.  Is there a way to share videos using the Starter Edition program?

I wonder the same thing. The icloud.com web page is pretty rediculous as of now.  What's the point of the page? Ive got an iphone that has my email, calendar, photos, etc.. what does the icloud page do? I think it's a work in progress cause I dont see a need to log onto it since my devices have all the info on it already? Yes, Id like to be able to log onto the icloud from work and see the pictures in my cloud.

  • How do I set up streaming video using iWeb

Where can I get a straight forward guide to setting up a streaming video to my web site. I use iWeb to design and publish my web sites to mac.com. And I have a personal domain that I host on mac.com.
I want to set up a wireless web cam because location of my routers and iMac preclude a direct connection. I know that I need to have access to a video streaming server but do not know how to get this service.
I was hoping someone could recommend a good quality wireless web camera for less than $300. What additional software do I need on my iMac? Do I need to add code to my web site?
Really looking for a soup-to-nuts guide. I have tried connecting the dots on a lot of forum posts and have become very confused.
    JohnT

It all depends on your webcam what it can do.
Webcam streaming usually is nothing more than putting JPEGS on a server in rapid succession. Then the browserwindows refreshes to pick up the new image. That takes time, so an image refreshes every 20 seconds.
I also have seen JavaApplets that do basically the same.
One way or the other you have to set up a webpage that either refreshes the image or that embed a JavaApplet.
Your webcam has to have access to the server to upload the images.
It all depends on your webcam and the software that comes with it.
I once used [Evocam sofware|http://www.evological.com/evocam.html]. It is more advanced today.
You can use the HTML Snippet to embed either solution in an iWeb page.
    Then practice.

  • Can a share certain Address Book groups only using Mobileme?

I'd like to share an address book group called 'work contacts' with a colleague. I managed to allow him to share my address book, but he could see all my contacts. Is there a way to allow him to subscribe to that group alone?
    Thanks,
    Richard

iCloud appears to provide no Address Book sharing. You might be able to do this through Google, but it would be likely to be all contacts or none.
iCloud allows you to share calendars privately (editable if you wish) to other iCloud users or publicly (non-editable) to anyone - they would need a CalDAV client to read it, such as iCal or Google Calendars.
You share individual calendars, so private events should be in their own calendar which is not shared.

  • How to share video between iPhones

I'm trying to figure out a way to share video clips between family members using iPhones. We all have either the iphone 4 or 4S. Some clips will be up to 3 or 4 minutes long. I thought about Facebook or YouTube, but they need to be for private viewing only. Dropbox would be awesome with their iPhone app but it's pricey. My MobilMe account was great using the Gallery app, but I transitioned to iCloud. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

    What data?
You should be syncing them to icloud and/or your computer.

I have lightroom 5.7. Now I have apple TV to connect my Mac to the TV scree. I wish to do a slide show on the TV. However, on the Mac, using ITunes to share photos with the TV, I cannot locate all photo files. What is the best way to save the slide show and put it where the Mac sharing can find it? So far, I made on one folder in Lightroom, put some photos there and I found them easily. Can this be done with a slide show? Please help quickly! Also worried that the photos I put on the new folder are hard to find afterwards, when the show is done. Where do they go when I delete from from the new folder?I am not alone

Not that I'm aware of. You just export JPEG copies to a folder that you can point iTunes to. For instance, I have created a folder in my Pictures folder called Apple TV. And within that folder I have other folders of pictures that I can choose from in iTunes to share with Apple TV. But there doesn't seem to be any way to share a Lightroom slideshow. If you have laid to create a video file that would probably work. Apple TV is a little clunky in my opinion. Some things are a little more difficult to do now than they were a while back. I probably haven't provided you with much help, but just keep experimenting and I think you will figure it out.

  • My wife and I want to sync/share videos

My wife and each have a computer, + iPhone + iPad + AppleTV of course. We'd like to share videos, but we are finding it next to impossible. If I have a movie on my system, I can sync it to AppleTV, but she can't sync her movies. Most of these are either rips of DVDs she has (Friends episodes) or lots of home movies I've created, or home movies she's done of our son. The problem is that she creates a movie, and she can't sync it, which means she needs to send it to me, and then I need to sync it, which is just twenty steps too much, as we now have a bunch of copies of the movie. Couple this with music, pictures, and everything else. Then, we have to deal with moving them to the iPad if we want to bring it with us.
We have the AppleTV, which we though would be a nice central hub of media that we could save to, and take from, but apparently you can't do this by default. AppleTV is for one person homes?
So, here is what we'd like to do, easily.
My wife and I have media we'd like to play on our TV at times via AppleTV. We'd also like to be able to put this media on our iPhones/iPad and take it with us. How can we do this? It's really simple what we want, and we can't fathom how it can be difficult at all to do this, when we can easily share a video with friends and family on Facebook.

    jasonlotito wrote:
First, yes, I'm aware of AppleTV's syncing problem. Streaming seems like a good solution for part of the problem, though that still leaves the problem of syncing to other devices: iPad/iPhone.
Streaming is great actually as it gets over the 160GB drive limitation in AppleTV (actually most of mine are 40GB AppleTVs, and I just stream things to them).
Downside is you need iTunes running as AppleTV cannot access files directly, as all data moves to it /from it via iTunes (except AppleTV's internet intercations).
The Home Sharing seems like an interesting solution. I'll explore that.
It should allow you to play/access media on different computers via iTunes but I don't think it will allow you to sync to iPhone/iPad/AppleTV from another user's library. Someone who regularly uses it will be able to clarify.
The network storage thing is also interesting. With so many devices, it might be a good idea to centralize all the stuff.
That's the idea - to centralize stuff on the network and allow multi-user access.
So, basically, we could setup a network storage device as a library separated from our own local stuff.
You wouldn't actually set the itunes library up on the network storage (you could in theory thoufgh), just use it as storage accessible to an itunes library on a computer.
Media known to the iTunes database can be stored in the actual iTunes media folder, or on any attached internal/external drives or network drives.
The setting I mentioned in iTunes determines what happens when you add a new file to iTunes - either a copy is made in teh iTunes media folder, or the itunes database just remembers it's current location without copying - so long as the location is accessible eg network/usb drive you could then sync to a device like AppleTV/iPad etc without having a copy in your itunes media folder.
We could then sync to AppleTV, iPhone, iPad, etc? And from what I remember, we could also sync to the devices what we want via the syncing control panel.
    In theory yes.
If this is true, I like this idea. We could do our own personal stuff on our computer, prepare everything, and then save it to a central library we could still access. Then, sync our devices from that one central repository.
This to me seems the logical option.
Could you recommend an easy to use, large, network capable storage device that could be used for such a system?
I don't have one myself (we have several computers but I tend to handle all the media on my Mac Pro with lots of attached internal/USB/FW drives), but you have numerous options including Time Capsule from Apple that goes up to 2TB - be sure to check user reviews for these devices at places like Amazon to get a heads up on any potential issues.
The only issue with network storage is that of it being potentially (usually) slower than directly attached drives/internal drives, but this will depend on your actual network setup/speed/connection types and whether or not there's lots of concurrent traffic. Even a slow network will sync but if it's very slow streaming might not be as smooth as it might be.

How can I change (or select) what is being being used when I share, as the file cover. When I Share lets say "Master File" i want to select a frame that is used as the file cover. So when its on my desktop I see this image as the file icon.

I don't think Finder does this (I've tried).
iTunes does though. Where you can set artwork or the "poster frame"...
This may not be what you want but if it helps, I know 2 ways  do this is
Open the video in QuicktimePlayer7 | View | Set Poster Frame (even then, you might need to save it as .mov (ie in a 'mov container').
Drag the file into iTunes and set the artwork (as in http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/adding-album-cover-art-or-images-in-itunes .html)
From there, iTunes will use that frame as the "poster frame" ie the photo/frame that shows when you browse your videos. Which is what you want, but limited to iTunes.
When I do either of these above, the frame I set does not show when exploring files in "Finder" (or in the other Explorer tool I use called "Pathfinder").
So it maybe, that exactly what you want, is not possible.

  • Can't share videos after upgrade to iTunes 7.2

I share videos wirelessly from my iMac to my MacBook Pro which is connected to my widescreen LCD in my living room.
Using Frontrow, after upgrading to 7.2, I now get the message: "This shared video cannot be played. The shared video server may be having problems playing video."
Shared photos and music still play fine.
I've rebooted everything including my Linksys router.
There was no problem playing my shared videos this way with iTunes 7.1
Anyone else having a similar problem, or can anyone offer a hint or solution?
    thanks, Chuck

We are working getting a resolution to this issue as well.
