Using IWeb8 Pages on a GoDaddy Hosting Account

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to use a page created with iWeb8 on a GoDaddy Hosting Account? I would like to use my new domain name I just got with them and set up ecommerce.
Thanks,
JoeGaget

You publish to a folder and upload with ftp. Here are some general tips:

  • Question re: what files & folders to upload to godaddy hosting account

I created a small website in a local folder named "lovecake." Inside are three folders named images, pages, and lightbox_assets. I have a hosting account with godaddy that allows me to have multiple sites. I have three sites on there now. The first one I uploaded before I upgraded my space so that I could have more than one site, so it is not in a separate folder. The other two are in named folders they call directories. I need to upload this site into a folder(directory) named "alina" that I created for the domain name of livelovecake.net. I plan to upload with Fetch, which I have used before rather than trying to use DW to upload because I have to make sure that I upload my sites into separate folders which I know how to do with Fetch, but am not sure how I would do it with DW.  Do I need to upload the whole folder on my computer named "lovecake" with its contents into the "alina" folder, or do I just upload the folders inside "lovecake," eg., images, pages, and lightbox_assets? Will there be a problem because the folder on my computer and the folder on my godaddy hosting account have different names? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good to hear you figured it out, sedona. Just a quick thought: Do you know about Dreamweaver's Synchronize command (Site > Synchronize Sitewide)? If not, it might be worth reading up on. Now that your site is uploaded, it can be tricky to remember what files have been modified, added, etc., once you start updating pages, making changes, and so on.

Thanks Geoff for the tip. I will read up on it. The site I just made is very simple and only 5 pages, since it is my first effort in DW and I was just getting my feet wet-have used iWeb in the past. But I hope to do something more complicated in the future, so will probably need to keep better track of stuff.

  • Updating files to godaddy hosting account

I am unable to update one of my website pages using the Dreamweaver application. My FTP connection with godaddy is fine, and it appears my file is uploading to godaddy, but doing this action actually throws the page offline. Godaddy says it is a problem with Dreamweaver. Can anyone assist me with this? I am using Dreamweaver CS4.  I am not having this issue with other pages on my website.

www.cafesam.net/news and www.cafesam.net/news1 had to be uploaded using the godaddy ftp client. I cannot upload the news page or news1 through the Dreamweaver application. When I try updating the page from Dreamweaver, I get confirmation of a connection to the godaddy server - everything works as usual with no error messages - but then what actually happens is the news page is taken offline. Godaddy is saying that Dreamweaver is communicating with their server to take down the old page and put up the new page, but something gets cut off in the process whereby the new (updated) page never makes it to the godaddy server. If you try to open the news page online I get "page not found" (see image below).
I am not having any problems updating other pages on the website with Dreamweaver. All of my settings, passwords, etc. are correct. I've been using Dreamweaver CS4 for four years without any issues until now.

  • Using JavaMail in shared hosting accounts

    Hello,
I have a hosting account with a shared Java Virtual Machine. I'd like to use JavaMail, but it uses a System property to set the SMTP server, that is related to the domain, and so it's different for any account.
Is it safe to set a system property to specify the SMTP server? Is there any way to set it as, say, a parameter of Transport, or something else similar? Or, does anybody have any experience about this kind of scenario?
    Thank you for any help!
    Luciano

    Hi,
Is it safe to set a system property to specify the
SMTP server? The advantage of setting a system property is, the
property can be accessed by all the applications sharing
the same JVM.The application which are accessing this
system property need not be changed whenever there is a
change in this system property value.
Is there any way to set it as, say, a parameter of
Transport, or something else similar? Or,does anybody
have any experience about this kind of scenario?Java Mail API provides Session.setProvider(Provider) which
is subclassed for SMTP and other to specify mail provider.
Find documentation about this Session class from our website
    at http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/1.3/docs/javadocs/javax/mail/Session.html
    Hope this helps.

  • Trouble with sessions ending using GoDaddy email accounts with Safari

I use a GoDaddy email account on my iMac with Safari. Lately I have been unable to manage my emails. I log into the account using a secure webmail, emil opens normally, but when I try to read or delete and emil I get this message: Session has ended due to inactivity. Log in to resume.  I have cleared cache, cleared all history shut unit down and start again. Still same message. Any thoughts on this. GoDaddy suggested I download Chrome or Firefox to read my email.

Since I last wrote, I also tried advice I found in another post (can't mail from godaddy when using safari) to delete ALL website date and delete the cache.db and restart safari.  This did not help.
Don't know if it's related, but my macbook pro that is having this issue with GoDaddy webmail is now also asking for an obscure iCloud password every time I start up that is not my usual iCloud password... i can find it in my keychain though.

  • Multiple Sites w/ GoDaddy Host

I created a website with iWeb, bought a domain name and hosting space from GoDaddy, published the site to a folder and uploaded it to GoDaddy with Fetch. Everything worked fine. I created another user account on my computer as a way to create another website with iWeb and keep it separate from the first one (a suggestion I got on these boards, by the way), created my site, bought another domain name from GoDaddy for that site, and now I want to upload it to my GoDaddy hosting space (the hosting account I got allows you to upload many sites to it if you want to). My concern is that when you upload the site that iWeb created from the published folder, you upload the index.html file and the folder iWeb created with the files for your site. iWeb always creates an index.html file for each web site. So there is already a file in my hosting space called index.html. When I upload the second site, is that going to somehow confuse or mess up the first one?

When you go to godaddy.com and click on the link that tells you about their various hosting plans, they have a comparison of plan features. They have Economy, Deluxe, & Premium. The last two allow Unlimited Sites and describe this as "Multiple Websites may be hosted within a single hosting account sharing the same disk space and bandwidth quotas."
I have one site up there under a domain name, so there is an index.html file and a folder with all the other files for that site. I bought another domain name for my second site, but I'm not sure yet how they will be differentiated when they are sharing the same disk space. My concern is that when I upload the second site, it too will have an index.html file that needs to go up, and will that overwrite the first one already up there and mess up that first site?
This is my first time using a program like iWeb to make a site. In the past (and that was a long time ago) I wrote my own html from scratch, and had control over what I named that first page that pointed to all the others.

  • IWeb and GoDaddy Hosting of Multiple Sites

GoDaddy users: I have the solution. I have 8 sites all hosted from one host account.
The key is you must have a separate FTP login for each website. In the past I would just use the root. Now, each site has its own.
    Examples:
    iWeb document name:memorialslive
    Site Name: meorialslive
    Server address: studiobuzz.biz
    User name: memorialslive
    Directory/Path: BLANK
    URL://www.memorialslive.com
    =================
    iWeb document name:ministrieslive
    Site Name: ministrieslive
    Server address: studiobuzz.biz
    User name: ministrieslive
    Directory/Path: BLANK
    URL://www.ministrieslive.com
    Etc.
What is also great is that the visit button now works too.
All is good. Apple is once again vindicated.

This is the answer to those of you having troubles with FTP uploads to your GoDaddy web host and maybe others.

  • Custom 404 w/Shared Hosting Account

I'm running on a shared hosting account and am working with
one of the technicians who says he enabled the "check if file
exists" setting in IIS, which should force ColdFusion to use IIS'
    default 404 handler.
The problem is, it's not, and I while I'm still working with
him I'm worried they may decide to not waste time on this for me.
Should this end up happening, are there any other options for
enabling a custom 404 for .cfm files without having access to
ColdFusion Administrator? I've seen some talk of doing it with a
.cfc, but (as I posted in another thread) I need a quick primer on
application.cfc versus .cfm, and information on what ColdFusion
    version is required.
Basically I'm trying to come up with a way to parse
    non-existent URLs like this:
    http://www.mydomain.com/username
    --------------------->
    http://www.mydomain.com/file.cfm?user=username

Why is he going through the App Mappings tab? What does that
have to do with specifying a custom 404 template? There is a
specific tab in IIS already for custom errors. You just edit the
one for 404 to point to your script wherever it may live.
Aside from that, do you have access to your own CF admin
console? You might have already thought of this, but you don't have
to mess with IIS to create, or point to, custom 404 pages if you
don't want. You can use CF by specifiying a Missing Template
Handler. Then you can use CFIF tags to tell it what kind of message
to display based on which one of your web site domains it's coming
from since it is actually a global handler.
Btw, a full restart should not be necessary. Sounds to me
like the technician doesn't know what he's doing.
Probably more questions than answers, but hopefully this
gives you some direction. If you have Windows XP or 2003
Professional on a PC you can very easily set up IIS and ColdFusion,
    run them from under
    http://localhost and test all these
things yourself. That's what I would do.

  • "New" Godaddy webhosting account's won't work w/Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
I am having problems getting my Godaddy webhosting account's to work with Dreamweaver CS3. My older accounts work, it is my newer (last 6 months) accounts that have this issue. The ftp information works in my CuteFTP8 Professional. I called Godaddy tech support several times and they could not figure out. And, since it works in my FTP program, they said it is a Dreamweaver issue.
In the FTP host Remote Info I have tried www.domain.com, domain.com, ftp.domain.com with login and password. I also tried checking Use passive FTP, Use IPv6 Transfer mode, Use Secure FTP (SFTP) and leaving them all unchecked. The error message I always get is:
An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. No response from the server. This may be due to one or more of the following reasons: etc.
I compared information with my Dreamweaver accounts that do worked and still no luck.
The only thing I can think of is when you create a new hosting account with Godaddy, depending on the month, you are assigned a different web server. Could it be the old Godaddy web servers work and the new web servers may have different settings that don't work with Dreamweaver? Or, I need different setting information??? I am at my wits end.
Any help on this would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    MonaE

    Hi Mona:
If your FTP client works, then there has to be some miniscule detail that's different between that setup and what you're inputting into your DW Manage sites.  Maybe you should print out your successful FTP setup details, and compare to what's in your DW...
If this helps, this info came from GoDaddy's help section:
From the Site menu, select Manage Sites.
In the Manage Sites box, Click New, then choose Site.
In the Site Definition box, enter the name and URL of your website and clickNext.
If a certain type of server technology is necessary for the site to function, selectyes. Otherwise, select no and click Next.
For working with files during development, select Edit local copies on my machine...(recommended). It is very important that they select this option.
    Enter connection information as follows:
How do you connect to your remote server?
    FTP
What is the hostname or FTP address of your web server?
    ftp.domainname.com
What folder on the server do you want to store your files in?
    / or blank
Enter your FTP login and FTP Password
    Click Next.
For checking in and out files, select No, do not enable..
Review the summary to be sure all information is accurate, then click Done.
I have a dozen sites hosted at GD, and in most cases (where I had trouble), it was operator error.  Good luck!

  • Email app not syncing Godaddy email accounts.

    All,
I have the S3 and approximately one week ago, the email app stopped syncing my 2 Godaddy email accounts.  The email app for Gmail is still working.
    I've gone into
Settings > Application Manager > All > Email > Clear Data
and then again setup my Godaddy email accounts.  This then syncs all the email again and I will get all current messages in my mail spool.  However it goes right back to not syncing anything new.
I've tried putting it in airplane mode as I saw a post that that may help, but no.  I've also removed the battery and let it sit, to see if that had any affect, but again no.
Has anyone else ran into this and if so, what have you done to correct this.
I am aware of the godaddy app, however I'd rather not use this, I kinda prefer the native samsung email app.

If you search on this forum and compare popular web hosting providers like Bluehost, Hostgator and Godaddy you will see many users have such problems with their email apps. First it seems your problem comes from your cellphone. But it is surprising that I had the same problem when I had a web and email hosting account with Godaddy and their customer service couldn't solve my problem and finally I moved my email hosting account to Bluehost and the problem automatically was solved, without any action!
So I recommend to you and any other users with similar problems to change your email hosting provider. Now that you are unhappy with Godaddy I recommend to try http://www.bluehost.com or http://www.hostgator.com companies.
I have the S3 and don't have any problem with syncing my Hostgator email accounts. So If I were you first I'd try Hostgator.

  • Hosting Account Suspended and iTunes Podcast Feed Altered

Months ago my company had our web hosting account suspended because we forgot to update our credit card info. Our web hosting company suspended our account without notice, and iTunes pinged our podcast feed while the site was suspended.
The iTunes feed now directs to the generic "account suspended" URL that our former web host made our site redirect to. I can't inset a tag into the code of this page because I do not have access to it. I've contact the company's support several times about it, but no response. I've contacted Apple about it and all I receive are general answers about redirecting a feed.
Is there any way to resolve this issue without creating a new podcast feed under a new name, losing all subscribers, ratings, and comments?

Is there any way to resolve this issue without creating a new podcast feed under a new name, losing all subscribers, ratings, and comments?
Unless you are able to persuade Apple to change the feed manually - and it sounds as if you can't - I'm afraid that is your only option. It's a serious weakness in the iTunes Store system that changing the feed URL method can't be used when the original feed can't be accessed.

  • Adobe Connect 9 for hosted accounts

We have a hosted Adobe Connect account. We were notified that our hosted account would be upgraded to AC9 automatically on December 9th, but AC9 features are not enabled. What does our Administrator have to do to enable Adobe Connect 9 new features?

You asked durrning Adobe's shutdown week, so the answer is slow in comming. As I recall, I had to log out and log back in for the new version 9 features to wake up, but it may have been a browser cookie issue. If you truly don't have Connect 9 (you can double check by mousing over the "Help" link on the login page and it will show your version of Connect), then you should call support at 800-945-9120.

  • How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application witth just a JRE [Web Application, WAR, JSP, weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds and JRE]

How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application (either a .war file or a war directory structure) without a java compiler?
I suspect either the JSP specification is flawed (i.e. it doesn't take account of servers using just a JRE), or BEA's implementation is broken.
Production servers do not have a JDK installed. They only have a JRE. Therfore a java compiler is not present on the machine that the Web Application is deployed onto.
On the development machine, when the server is requested to load the JSP it creates a tmpwar directory within the Web Application directory structure. This is then included in the resultant .war file thus:
              D:\war>jar -tf gmi.war
              META-INF/
              META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
              gmiService.jsp
              WEB-INF/
              WEB-INF/classes/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/gmiService.class
              WEB-INF/getList.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrict.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrictConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/lib/
              WEB-INF/source/
              WEB-INF/source/build.bat
              WEB-INF/source/gmiService.java
              WEB-INF/web.xml
              WEB-INF/weblogic.xml
              tmpwar/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.class
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.java
When deployed on the production server with the web.xml file set to use the following values (note XML stripped):
              weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds
              -1
              weblogic.jsp.precompile
              false
              weblogic.jsp.compileCommand
              javac
              weblogic.jsp.verbose
              true
              weblogic.jsp.packagePrefix
              jsp_servlet
              weblogic.jsp.keepgenerated
              false
              And in the weblogic.properties file:
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.gmi=war/gmi
I've also tried with the .war file, but that insists on creating another tmpwar directory outside of the .war file.
Then, although I have set pageCheckSeconds to -1 (don't check and don't recompile) ter production server still attempts to recompile the JSP's:
              Mon Sep 25 11:40:11 BST 2000:<I> <WebAppServletContext-gmi> *.jsp: init
Mon Sep 25 11:40:11 BST 2000:<I> <WebAppServletContext-gmi> *.jsp: param verbose initialized to: true

The default Java compiler from sun lives in the tools.jar that comes with
the JDK. Just add that to your set of JARs which are deployed in production
and you should be fine. No need to install the full JDK - just make the
              tools.jar available to WebLogic.

  • I need to know how to create "sites" that enable me to transfer files between my computer and my hosting account.

I have Macromeadia DreamWeaver MX 2004 installed in Windows XP Proffesional SP3. I am using Go Daddy for my web host.
I have uploaded two pages to my site. After downloading these pages for editing I am unable to upload the revised pages back to the published site. The download does not return to it's file of origen on my computer. Thanks, Jess-
