Using iWorks 8 or 9 with Mavericks

I have some trouble with Page 5 (Mavericks) and I would like to know if it is possible to run iWorks 8 opr iWorks 9 with Mavericks.
All my files have been created with iWorks6 and iWorks8 and now, Page-Numbers-Keynote refuse to open them because they are too old and ask me to save them in 09. But I have not these old versions anymore. I have a zip (iWorks8.zip) but it is impossible to uncompress this archive (Err 1)...
Is it possible to reinstall iWorks 8, then update to 9 and run it to save my files in 09 format ?
May I have to buy again a old version of Page to be able to open my files ?
I am really annoyed...

I apologize, I am a bit unclear on your exact issue. Are you certain that it is asking you to upgrade the documents to the iWorks '09 format, or is it asking you to upgrade them because it is recognizing them as the iWorks '09 format? Why can't I use final cut pro 7 with Mavericks?

Why can't I use final cut pro 7 with Mavericks? Is any one else having problems? All my media is reputedly "offline" even though I can see all the files. Using the reconnect to media function doesn't do a thing. All of my previous projects are the same. Any ideas would be most welcome!

I have just upgraded and there seems to be no way to upgrade the Mini server. Do I have to uninstall Mavericks

It would have been prudent for Mavericks upgrade to tell me that Server 2.x was not compatible.
Indeed Server 2 update that at least told me it was not compatible and that version 3 was available would also have been useful.
I only used the VPN feature a handful of times since purchasing in August 2013 - Not very good value for money in my circumstances then.

IWork, is it free with Mavericks?

I am considering updateing my Macbook to Mavericks and probably Yosemite, but my wife is still using Appleworks 6! She uses it for her accounts. So once files exist she may never need to edit them.
My question is this, on Mavericks etc she wont be able to use Appleworks and will need to learn iWork or Numbers. We will need to get iWork or numbers!
I've read it comes free with Mavericks, is that true?

Cannot use Windows AD Network Accounts with Mavericks

Mavericks is seriously getting to me and are surprised on the big quality drop the Apple products have had the past year. We are using Windows AD to handle all users and all other clients (Mac OS 10.6 - 10.8, various Windows versions) except Mavericks can use the network accounts.
The computers with mavericks was mainly upgraded from 10.8
Windows AD Domains are running Windows 2012
Any advice on where to start looking? This is solely a Mac OS issue.

having same problem with my x300 installed windows 8 2 months ago and wireless was working fine.
then a couple of weeks ago wireless stopped working so installed windows 7 and still no wireless.
can only get internet with Lan cable and when i troubleshoot shows that wifi is turned off try the switch but no light when i turn on and computer says that wifi is off and needs to be turned on.
did you have any luck fixing your x300 and if you did how did you fix it?

Is anyone having problems using an HP ScanJet 4890 with Mavericks?

When using my MacBook Air with Mavericks OS X, I can scan documents using HP Scan v2.4.4, but am unable to save them properly. I get a plaid pattern in my saved PDF documents. HP hasn't yet posted new software for Mavericks on their web site. Is anyone else having similar problems, and if so, how did you resolve them?

I have an HP Scanjet 8390 with the same problem ($1600 new when I bought it). Using the "HP Scan.app", I am able to scan but not save - something about a read only file.
The HP Scanjet 8390 is a business class **DUPLEX document scanner built like a tank, critical to my business (and personal). ie. I scan 100's of duplex pages a day for the last 6 years with no problems. It has a 14" glass for legal documents, 48-bit, +programmable hard buttons to scan and copy, or scan and print, OCR...
I called 1-800-633-3600.. HP told me they do not support legacy products, have no intention of updating the drivers for legacy products and suggested I buy a new scanner (even though my old scanner works perfectly and is faster and not ).
What is considered a legacy product? 1 year? 2 years? Am I to buy a new ($1000) scanner every 1-2 years? What benefit do I get from a new equivalent scanner?

Yes, but it is very important to go to your username>library>preferences and delete all the relevant adobe preferences after upgrading.

Using 1st gen airport express with mavericks

When I upgraded to Mavericks, the updated Airport Utility dosen't support my version of airport express 1st generation. The old version of airport utility is not supported by mavericks. There is a version on the website that appears it may work, but I can't install it because their is a new version already installed. I cannot delete the new version, because the sytem blocks it with a message that it is necessary for the operating system.

Mavericks certainly will support a 1st Gen version of the AirPort Express, so chances are......you do not have a 1st Gen Express.
Please check the model number on the side of your Express. It starts with an "A" followed by four numbers.
A 1st Gen version is A1264. I imagine that you have A1084 or A1088, which are much older versions than the 1st Gen "n" Express,which was introduced in 2008.
Witht the A1084 or A1088, you will need to use another Mac running Leopard, Snow Leopard, or another PC to be able to administer the older AirPorts.

Is iWork's 09 compatible with Maverick OS

Ongoing problem scanning to file using C410a All in One with Mavericks on Mac desktop.

This problem seems to have been known since at least October 2013. Rather than suggesting workarounds, has HP issued a solution yet?

I would like to try and help with your scanning issues, but first I need a little more information:
What particular errors are you running into when you scan?
Are you scanning through the front panel of the printer or through the Mac?
Are you connected to the printer via USB or wireless?
Are you using Mac OS X 10.9.1 or 10.9.2? If you have any issues on verifying the version of Maverick you're using, you can check this document on Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?

IWork did not update with maverick download

I have previously purchased iwork on a cd rom format. After updating to mavericks iwork will not update. How can I fix this

Have you checked to see if the individual apps - Pages, Numbers, etc - are listed in the Updates? If not,

What version did you have?
Books do nor exist except in the iPhoto database so you can not "find" a book vista TM. You restore a previous library (be sure NOT to overwrite your current library) and switch to it

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/
com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

I've just been told that "a lot of people have reported the total loss of their e-mail related to the Mavericks (10.9) update. It appears the update corrupts the email files on your computer and when the Apple e-mail client sees everything is "gone" it wipes the server too (your GMail account)."
I need to recover/retrieve a lost email sent from my GMail account back in sep/oct 2012. can any one help?
I have searched my account the relevant correspondence is gone. I should not have deleted it myself. I've only started using "Mail" for my GMail account last September, so the servers could not have mixed up the Gmail archives, I think. Either way, I'm not smart enough yet to know how to retrieve this correspondence. The lost email is rather important, why I need to investigate all possible solutions.
My gmail settings i.e. POP/IMAP and Filters are as they should, as far as I believe, but yet, I cannot tell how my settings were in 2012, tho I think I've never changed anything personally. In Sep 2012, arounf the time the, now lost, corresponcence took place, I switched to using Chrome, where before I was using Safari or Firefox. I now use a new mac book with Mavericks and browse in Chrome, most of the time.
Would anyone be able to guide me through some steps, or have any leads on this?

Unless you've done anything to change it, Google keeps every email that ever passes through their server in your All Mail folder/mailbox/label. Even if you delete stuff, they hold onto it, there. You have to go out of your way to actually delete anything permanently.
