Using Japanese version of Adobe Reader (9 or 10) on English Windows XP?

Our users have Windows XP SP3 English with the Windows XP Japanese MUI installed. Up until now we have been using the English Adobe Reader 8 with the Japanese Font pack. I am just curious if there would be any problems with using the Japanese version of Adobe Reader 9 or 10 (still deliberating which version to upgrade users to). on the English language client OS (which has the Japanese XP MUI installed). This would save us having to deploy the Adobe Reader Japanese font pack and manage it.
I have tried installing it as such and it appears to work but I wonder if any issues may appear long term. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Here is the Recommended Path
Reader 9.5.0 -> 9.5.1 (Quarterly)-> 9.5.2 (Quarterly)
Please slso consider the article mentioned below for Reader Deployment

With computer running Windows 7 using the curser can select an item, then right click and select copy.   With computer running Windows 8 there is a hand instead of a curser therefore unable to select an item, therefore unable to copy.  Is there a way to have a curser rather than the hand?
Eureka!!!   Just found by right clicking on the hand can then select “Select Tool” and then copy.  Hurray!!!

  • Can I download two versions of Adobe Reader on my machine?

I need both versions 9 and XI for work-related projects. Is there a way to keep both downloaded on my machine and then pick which version to use to open PDFs? I am frustrated that I have to keep re-downloading the versions I need. Please advise best way to go about this. Thank you!

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
You can have Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader XI downloaded on your machine. (You can keep setup.exe files) but you can't use 2 versions of Adobe reader on your computer as newer version removes the older version.
    Thanks,

  • Just installed latest version of Adobe Reader on Windows 7:  "Adobe Reader has stopped working" msg

Just installed latest version of Adobe Reader on new desk top with Windows 7.  Most PDF files allow conversion to Word.  Some do not allow conversion, only allows Adobe Reader XI, but I get "Adobe Reader has stopped working" message.  Downloaded latest XI security update.  Still get the error message that i has stopped working.

  • Can I use more than one version of Adobe Reader on an iPad, 8.1 touch and 11.1

Can I use more than one version of Adobe Reader on an iPad  adobe Reader Touch and Reader 11.1 .  .  I use Acrobat XI Pro although I had some old files that were stored on adobe.com from a prior version of acrobat 9 student edition.
I guess the same question for my Surface Pro2 Computer might apply, although I gather from what I read that you shouldn't have two versions of reader on a computer.

If I may add a qualification: on a device running full Windows 8, you may have both Adobe Reader Touch and Adobe Reader (normal desktop edition). This does not apply to the primitive devices which cannot run desktop apps (running "Windows RT"), and while I may be wrong, I believe that the Surface 2 is such a device.

I used to use the free version of Adobe Reader to convert my publisher files to pdf files. When I was making a booklet for our hockey team, it said I had to buy it. Now I bought it and it won't convert the files. I am ready to throw this computer out the window!! Can you tell me what is the problem? No it does not exceed 100 M. either.

Adobe Reader never converted Publisher files to PDF, for free, never. I suspect you use to have the (paid for) Adobe Acrobat. Sometimes people have Acrobat (more than $300 worth) and install Adobe Reader over the top, losing that valuable software.
That said, if you subscribed to PDF Pack it should do this conversion. What exactly happens now.

I have downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader, but I am unable to use it. How do I launch it?

You can't open it from the Applications folder?
The pre installed Preview app in your Applications folder can open PDF files.

  • I recently downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader and when I try to open a new pdf I get the Adobe logo and text in Japanese and the pdf doesn't open.  Any help would be appreciated.

I recently downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader for my MacBook Air and now when I try to open a new pdf I get the Adobe logo and text in Japanese and nothing else.  The pdf doesn't open.  Any suggestions?  I never had this problem until my cache was cleared and I had to re-install Adobe Reader.  Any help would be appreciated.

Just to say I am having exactly the same issue on my MacBook Air.  I can't remember what I did but after this happened a few times, and once I had clicked on the Japanese pop up, I managed to do something that now means I get the pop up in English, saying 'Adobe Reader blocked for this website'.  When I click on it it asks me to trust the content and then I get a bar with the text in Japanese.  Eventually the pdf does open. However it's very irritating that I have to trust every pdf individually which I never had to do before the latest upgrade, and I don't understand why I get messages in Japanese.  I will be interested to see whatever answers other more technical people may provide!

I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here
== When I download and try to read a .pdf file and when I am asked to turn off all Firefox files and if I do, I lose them since I need to know how to save them without rebooting my computer.

Brilliant! Problem solved! Thanks so much.

  • What versions of Adobe Reader will *really* work with Mac OS 10.6.8 on a Macbook Pro 2.16 ghz Intel Core2 Duo?

Below is a list of your minimum requirements for Mac for versions 9-11 of Adobe Reader:
Please note that my operating system is neither explicitly included or excluded and "or later" is not used in your info below.  Perhaps Adobe can manage to inform its users properly or own up to issues (note the many others asking the same unanswered question in many venues, including these forums)?  My AR updater will not update beyond AR9.5.5.
I am also having other sudden issues related to .pdf creation from MS Word docs, which I will address in a separate post.
Thank you for a prompt and courteous reply.
    Adobe Reader XI system requirements
These system requirements are for Adobe® Reader® XI software, v11.0. Because system requirements change with each software update, refer to the Release Notes for your software version for the latest information on supported operating systems and browsers. Technical specifications are also available for the mobile version of Adobe Reader.
    Mac OS
    Intel® processor
    Mac OS X v10.6.4, v10.7.2, or v10.8

    350MB of available hard-disk space
    1024x768 screen resolution
    Safari 5.1 for Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7.2; Safari 5.2 for Mac OS X v10.8; Safari 6.0 for Mac OS X v10.7.4 or v10.8

    1. Check your Mac hardware.
To get details about your Mac model, click the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, choose About This Mac, then choose More Info. These Mac models are compatible with OS X Yosemite:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)

The early 2006 can go to Snow Leopard
    The late 2006 to Lion

In any event, 2 GB would result in slow performance

  • Latest version of Adobe Reader won't let me annotate

I have been using the Adobe Reader 11 app to open PDFs and annotate them. The revised pdf is then uploaded to Dropbox and the reps in the field can download and continue annotating the same file. The field reps use iPads and/or iPhones but since the update to iOS 8.1 we can no longer annotate (I had a programmer specifically design this pdf form for me so it could be virtually passed and added to from one person to another via their mobile devices). Thoughts anyone?
    Len

    Len,
We received the PDF form.  Thank you!
The Document Properties dialog shows that your PDF form is a static XFA form authored with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0.
Unfortunately, Adobe Reader mobile products (Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support static or dynamic XFA forms.  This has not changed since the introduction of Adobe Reader mobile products a few years ago.  This has not changed for Adobe Reader for iOS version 10.4.
When you open the static XFA form in any of the Adobe Reader mobile products, the text fields in the form are not highlighted in light blue.  That is the indication of the PDF form not being "fillable".  In other words, you are not able to fill in the static XFA form in Adobe Reader mobile products.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
Please use the desktop version of Adobe Reader to fill in static and dynamic XFA forms.
To make PDF forms fillable in both the desktop and mobile versions of Adobe Reader, we'd recommend authoring PDF forms using Acrobat Pro.
Please let us know if you have further questions.

  • Problem viewing forms. This form is not supported with the current version of Adobe Reader.Upgrade to the latest version for full support. That does that mean exactly?

Problem viewing forms. This form is not supported with the current version of Adobe Reader.
Upgrade to the latest version for full support.
What exactly do I need to do?

That means you were probably using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's. Acrobat is totally unnessary, you can view PDF's in Preview (Applications - Preview).
BTW PLEASE complete your profile. It's very difficult to help  someone when they don't provide any information about their system. You can easily do this by clicking Your Stuff in the upper right of this page, then click Profile and fill in the pertinent information.

  • How do you get a trial version of Adobe Reader Xi to test pdf conversion

how can I download a trial version of adobe Reader XI to try the conversion feature??

Reader itself is free. The PDF Pack service that you can use through Reader does not have a trial. The only thing they have that converts pdf files and has a trial is Acrobat Pro.

  • How do I Download an earlier version of adobe reader?

I want to dowload an earlier version of abode reader.  I am struggling to open a  PDF file, and one of the reason given as to why I might be having this problem, is that the PDF file is not compatilble with the latest version of Adobe Reader.  I am using Windows 7?

You can download version 9 and X (10) from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Earlier versions are no longer supported, but can still be obtained from the Adobe FTP server ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/
