Using JMF API with Sun One Studio v4 update 1 (community ed.)

Having great difficulty trying to utilise the JMF API I've just downloaded with Sun One Studio v4, update 1 (community edition).
After installing the API, I tried copying the the .jar files under the lib folder of JMF to the lib folder of sun one studio.
Although admittedly a novice in the field of adding API's I have attempted to add the .jar files into the libary of recognised modules but made no progress.
The problem is that although JMF API is installed, Sun One Studio does not seem to be aware of this and so does not recognise any associated libraries e.g. java.media or JMFApplet.
I would appreciate advice from anyone who knows how to configure Sun One Studio to utilise the JMF API.
Mark

All right, I think I may have solved it. After mounting jmf.jar I needed to update the parser database. All the libraries seem to be there.
Can someone clarify though, the trial program i'm using makes reference to: java.media
I don't have this module. I do instead have javax.media which I believe includes all the methods of the java version. Am I right or am I missing this crucial module??

  • Fail to run my first Servlet with Sun ONE Studio 4 Update 1 (+ bi Tomcat)

    Hello !
I failed to run my first Servlet with Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1 ( with built in Tomcat)
I think that I followed most of the online instructions,
so I successfully run a JSP file,
but I failed with my first servlet:
    The error message is:
"Standard Wrapper[:MyServlet]: Marking servlet MyServlet as unavailable
javax.servlet.ServletException: Wrapper cannot find servlet class com.hemmerling.myservlet.MyServlet
or a class it depends on
So please dont ask me for the code of the servlett ( simply taken from a book),
but tell me why the one-and-only servlett was not found. what might I have done wrong, if I did everything I did to run the JSP file, too ?
Of couse I copied the file into the "Classes" directory of the Webmodule ( WEB-INF ) and "processed" it, so that I was able to execute it.
    Any suggestions ?
    Tia
    Sincerely
    Rolf

    Tough to say, but try:
    1. Put the servlet in a package. If you're using the default package (class file in WEB-INF/classes directory, then Tomcat may not find it.
    2. Check out web.xml to ensure the <servlet> and <servlet-mapping> entries are correct.
    3. Make the servlet as simple as possible so you're sure that it is the servlet itself that cannot be found and not some other class that it uses.
    Good Luck

  • Build a EJB/ Application with Sun One Studio and deploy to Weblogic

    Dear all,
My boss require me to use Sun One Studio 4 update 1 to do the development, but
I find it's a nightmare to deploy the EJB/ application to the WebLogic 6.1.
I've already installed the weblogic plug-in in the Sun One Studio.
During deploying I could not find any setting that ask me for the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml.
So I think the deployment will fail.
Is there any others tutorial or e-book that can help me to familiar with the deployment
    process?
Many Thanks for all of you.

  • Debug RMI - Service with Sun One Studio

Hi, I'm trying to debug an rmi - service with sun one studio 4u1 (win nt 4.0). To do so I start the rmid daemon via
    rmid -J-Xdebug -J-Xnoagent -J-Djava.compiler=NONE -J-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_shmem,server=y,address=dime,suspend=n -J-Djava.security.policy=%POLICY% -log %RUNDIR% >%RUNDIR%\server.log
Then I register the service to the daemon and attach the debugger in the studio to the address "dime". This seems to work, but the service does not stop at breakpoints set in the debugger.
    Can someone help?

I set the breakpoints at false line numbers (method heads). Now It works fine (breakpoints, watches, ...). The only thing is, that the current line is not visible in the source (although the line number is displayed correctly).

  • Sun ONE Studio 4 Update 1 does not allow to deploy a module

I have created CMP entity beans based on a database schema captured using the jdbcodbc driver. Each one with its primary key and correctly validate.
Then I have created a module and added to the module all CMP beans. Then when I attempt to deploy the module I got the following error: Conents are not valid for Sun ONE Application Server and in the log: Validation failed for EntityBeans.XConnectTableBean. Verify that all fields are mapped.
The I went to the SUN ONE AS entity properties within the module. I changed the defualt value of Mapped Schema to the correct schema, but when I tryed to change the Mapped Primary Table to the correct table the OK button was grayed out with the following status message: Table CTPTable does not have a primary key. This is of course not true.
Did I something wrong or this is a bug on Sun ONE Studio 4 Update 1?
    Is there any work around?
    Thanks in Advance

    Yes,
It was a known bug and fixed with the newer realeses. Try to use the capture schema utility of the appserver (Install directory>/bin/capture-schema).

  • Wireless toolkit in sun one studio 4 update 1 mobile edition?

I'm starting work on a MIDP 2.0 procect that requires the 2.1 wireless toolkit for JSR-172 (web services) support. I'm currently using Sun One Studio 4 update 1Mmobile Edition with the built-in 1.04 toolkit. Is there any way for me to setup the 2.1 toolkit to work with S1ME4_1?
I know the Early Access release of ME 5 ships with 2.1 toolkit support, but my project extends beyond the 60 day license.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :-)

    Hi,
    1. install the WTK 2.1
    2. In your project in S1ME4_1 in the Explorer
    - select Runtime -> Device Emulator Registry -> Installed Emulators
    - click right on that and choose "Add... Emulator" and enter your path to the WTK 2.1 (normally you have then a new "installed emulator" (J2ME WTK2.1)
    3. Open the "Default Emulator" and change it by clicking right on the one mentioned.
    4. add the midpapi20.jar from the lib directory of WTK2.1 to the classpath (i.e. by mounting)
    Hope it works.

  • JATO 2.0 Licensing for Sun ONE Studio 4 Update 1 EE

I have a serial number for Sun ONE Studio 4 EE which I'm also able to use
for Sun ONE Studio 4 Update 1 EE. I downloaded JATO 2.0 as offered in the

In order to compile from the IDE, you need a few things
    1. If the class is in a jar you must mount the jar in the filesystem -- that is, the jar file must be a top node (not under a node) in the Filesystems window. If this is not the case, use File > Mount Filesystem > Archive Files.
    2. If the class is not in a jar, mount the directory above the package root. For example, if you have c:\myWork\src\javax.microedition.lcdui.game then mount c:\myWork\src
    3. You have to either have an appropriate import statement or use the fully qualified class name.
    Import statement:
    import javax.microedition.lcdui.game.*;
    or
    javax.microedition.lcdui.game.someName x;
More information about package problems can be found at http://swforum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=78&threadID=22820
It has a web-tier bent but some of this info applies to Java apps.

  • Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1, CE Crashes

I know this is off-topic but I didn't see any forums related to the Sun ONE IDE. The IDE crashes every time I right click on a folder in the filesystem explorer and select New -> Classes (mainly the only one I use...of course). Everything else seems to work OK but this one submenu. If anyone has had similar problems please let me know. I am running WinXP SP1, my machine has 1gb ram, plenty of hard disk space and I am running jdk 1.4.1_01 or something like that (whatever the latest release is). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
    chuck

I have a similar problem. I was running the Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1 on Win XP Pro without trouble, until I installed J2SE 1.4.2. Now any time I right click in the explorer window, go to new and put the cursor over any menu item that has a sub menu (classes included), it crashes. I have tried re-installing Sun ONE Studio and J2SE 1.4.2 with no luck.
If I find a solution I will keep you posted.

  • Problem installing Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1, Community Edition

I recently downloaded the Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1, Community Edition and tried to install it. At one point it searches for a valid JAVA 2 SDK. This seems to go on forever. I quit after 5 hours of waiting. I already have Java 2 standard edition v1.4.1 installed. Can someone please help?

    Well thanks Chuck!
With a bit of messing around and a LOT of patience I finally installed Sun ONE Studio update 1 on my laptop pc, running Windows ME.
The trick was (I think) to apply both of the above fixes, but also a couple of things that was not quite as evident.
1 - Do NOT install the SDK in "C:\Program Files\" or any directory path that contains spaces in the name! Apparently that causes problems, and is noted in one of the Knowledge Base articles.
2- When making the file noted in the Knowledge Base:
    ( http://forte.sun.com/cgi-bin/WebX?[email protected]@.ee815f4 )
    - It says: Contents of this new file should be:.
    jh=<jdk Home Path> (for example, jh=c:\j2sdk1.4.0_01)
Well it does NOT mention that there should be 2 lines in that file!
Make sure you include a carriage return and a second "blank" line!
OK, that's it. GO ahead & loose yourself in the IDE.
I hope this does not cause undue traffic in the forums but what the heck...

  • Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1

    Hi,
i am new with J2Me. I have some experience with "normale" Java, JSP and Servlet technology.
Now i want to build an application for Handys.
I downloaded the Toolkit and build some of the demo Apps. Now my question: Wich IDE is good for J2ME?
I am an eclipse user. But as it seems there is no Plugin for J2ME Development. Now i have found this:
    http://java.sun.com/j2me/docs/j2meconwizard/install.html
So sun advises to use theri own IDE. Ok but the link on that page is down. And i can only find "Sun ONE Studio 11" searching sun.com :-(
    Wich IDE would you advise?
    thx

    PS: Sorry for my english.

  • Sun One Studio 5 Update 1 + Sun One Application Server 8

I haven't been able to setup Sun One Studio 5 to work with Sun One Application Server 8. I already tried with the plugin for netbeans 3.6, but it fails on dependencies. The plugin and dependencies can not be found on the update center.
I'd appreciate if anyone can tell me how to setup the studio to work with the AS succesfully

Studio 5 does not support Sun Java System App Server 8 (and most likely never will).
    Try the NB3.6/AS8 bundle: http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/download.html#nb
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by dependencies.

I created a simple entity bean with finder methods and business methods.
But when I am trying to test the entity bean by generating the New EJB Client, and at the time executing the EJB client test client the following error as occured.

    Hi ,
To know the reasons for deployment failure , you
could run your application using the Sun One verifier tool. Right click your application node and select Sun one verifier under the tools category.
Please post the results of the verifier tool in case you are not able to resolve the problem.

    Here is your problem:
    jdbc:oracle:oci8:@eundev:EUNDEV
the last part is wrong. Driver will see the EUNDEV as password. After @ , just specify the tnsName that you have, no " : "
you do have a property called "password" already.
It should be something like this:
    jdbc:oracle:oci8@eundev

  • Sun one studio 4 update 1 installation problems with windows me

    Hi guys!
I tried installing the cobundle on a Windows ME platform and it always get stuck whenever the progress bar is at 99%. When I try doing the long method (install JDK and then the IDE), installing the JDK is fine but the installation of the IDE gets stuck whenever it looks for a suitable JDK.
What would be the problem here? Any form of help is highly appreciated.
    Chipi.

I have the same problem during installation on my home machine. the computers at school installed them with the same files i am using the files are ffj_ce_win32.exe and the sdk is versioned 2.11.15.0 according to the file. I am using ME at home (i know its crap but XP is just as bad in certain areas) and the school machines are using windows 98. I can't think of any differences other than that. I have reinstalled the SDK and the IDE several times but I do not know what to do. changing OSes is out of the question but reinstalling it is not.
