Using Key Words to Find Photos

I've figured out how to apply key words to photos in my iPhoto Library, and I know how to find photos by typing in a key word. But how do I search using multiple key words (e.g. woman + brunette) or by excluding key words (e.g. woman - brunette)?
I assume the answer is in video tutorial "Finding Photos" at
http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#iphoto-organize-4 but it won't play for me.
Thanks.

David:
Go to the search field at the bottom of the iPhoto window, click on the Magnifying glass button and select keywords to bring up this window:
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Key words in stock photos

I have some stock photo PhotoDisc CDs and am cataloging them in Lightroom. I know there are built-in key words on each photo (because the CDs come with Portfolio for searching key words in each photo) but the key words don't appear in Lightroom. Any ideas how to get them to appear?

In the Library module, open the Metadata and change the default to All. Scroll down the list and see if you can find the keywords in one of the other Metadata fields. If they are not there, then the keywords may reside in the Portfolio database. See if you can see them in Portfolio. As I recall there is a command in Portfolio that allows you to export the keywords in the Portfolio library to the individual files. Of course the files will need to be on a HD as you cannot write to the CDs.
    Hope that helps,

  • How to use Microsoft Word's Find and Replace with HTML tags?

    Hello to all!
I'm trying to figure out how to use the find and replace function in Word to replace html tags. I'd like to be able to change something like this:
    <span class="B01-K-ITAL">random text</span>
    To something like this:
    <em>random text</em>
I want to replace the open and close tags without changing or interfering with the text between the tags. I'm pretty sure I should use wildcards, but I can't figure out how to use them properly.
Anyone able to lend a hand?

Here is my latest regular expression with Perl.   I think it matches the spirit of the request in the original post.
Note, this isn't as easy as you think.  You need to code up the complete set of html rules in you implementation. You need to allow for a certain amount of mal-formed html.

  • Using key word ALL for sub-query

I don't quite understand the ALL funciton.
    Would anyone please explain it.
    select e.empno, e.ename, e.job, e.salary from employee e
    where e.salary > ALL (select x.salary from employee x
    where x.job = 'Engineer');

    >
    Example:
    select e.empno, e.ename, e.job, e.salary from employee e
    where e.salary > ALL (select x.salary from employee x
    where x.job = 'Engineer');
    Let´s assume that the subquery have this values: 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000.
then the result will be the people whose salary is bigger than 1000, 2000 3000 and 4000.
Got it ?Not quite - why not use as your subquery - > (SELECT MAX(x.salary) from employee x where x.job = 'Engineer')?

  • Migrating from Extensis to AP 3 - key word challenge

I bought AP 3.x and am migrating all of my photos from Extensis Portfolio. I am using the "referenced file" approach. I want AP to see all of the key words I added while my photos were managed by Extensis. To do this, I embedded my key words into the photo files within Extensis. Then I simply open up AP to see the difference. The problem is that AP seems to just process my updated photos in chunks or batches (300 or so files). When I minimize AP, then return to it, it processes another batch. This seems more manual than it should. Is there a setting I can make within AP so it processes all the files in one session?

Sounds like Aperture is still Processing the install. Allan

  • I would like to know what application I should use for this specific job.  I have 6 photos in Iphoto, and I would like to print them out on one piece of paper with the title and key words showing.  Please help.

My objective is to print photos on on 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper (4 per page).  I want to include the photo title and the photo key words.
I am not sure how to go about doing this.

In iPhoto, create an album with the images you want to print.
Once created, open the album and select all the images (type Command + A)
Go to the menu View and make sure Titles and Keywords are checked.
Go to the menu File > Print
    Choose Contact Sheet
In the lower right corner press the customize button
In the next window that opens, at the bottom of the window change the column slider to "2"
You should be good to go. If OK, then press Print at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Find photos using the Library Filter bar

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/WSAB7B303E-081D-4617-BF47-B4B8D3D49CC3.htm l

I have created smart collections to organize pics of my family.  My name is Ed so, any word with the suffix "ed" or other words become part of my smart collection folder.  The instructions, above, say
"Contains Words Searches for text that contains all specified alphanumeric sequences as whole words. To find photos with the keyword flower using a Contains Word search, for example, type flower."
The option "Contains Words" does not show up in my version of LR3.  Where is it, then?

  • Can't find "key words" with accentuated characters

Since I have installed Aperture 3, I can't find pictures with a "key word", if the key word contains an accentuated. Otherwise, it works fine. I have verified this many times. For example if I search for the word "érable", Aperture won't find the pictures, but if I search "rable", it will find all the pictures associated to those syllables. I have tried that with many words, with the same result. I also tried to search "erable" (without the acute accent on the "e") and Aperture did not find the pictures.
Since I use a lot of French accentuated words, this is a big problem.
Does anybody else have that problem?
    Does somebody have a solution?
    Thanks for helping.

I was able to replicate the problem on my system, all updates current. The best way to alert Apple is via the link provided right within Aperture. Go to the menu bar item *Aperture > Provide Aperture Feedback*.

what is use of LOAD key word in ABAP-HR?

    Hi,
LOAD keyword is used to load all the parameter values.
    Basic form
LOAD REPORT prog PART part INTO itab.
    Variants
    1. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'HEAD' INTO itab.
    2. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'TRIG' INTO itab.
    3. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'CONT' INTO itab.
    4. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'DATA' INTO itab.
    5. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'DDNM' INTO itab.
    6. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'DATV' INTO itab.
    7. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'SELC' INTO itab.
    8. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'STOR' INTO itab.
    9. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'LITL' INTO itab.

    13. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'BASE' INTO itab.
    14. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'INIT' INTO itab.
    15. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'DATP' INTO itab.
    16. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'TXID' INTO itab.
    17. LOAD REPORT prog PART 'COMP' INTO itab.
    Effect
Loads the specified part of the generated version of the program prog into the internal table itab (for analysis purposes only).
The return code value is set as follows:
SY-SUBRC = 0 The load for the program prog exists and is current.
SY_SUBRC = 4 The load for the program prog does not exist.
SY-SUBRC = 8 The load for the program prog exists, but is not current. In some cases, this SY-SUBRC may mean that the program load has been destroyed. You can resolve this by generating the program. With PART 'LREF' , SY-SUBRC = 8 means that the line reference table is incorrect for the program. With PART 'CONT' , it means that the reference part of the internal table is empty.
itab has been filled only if SY-SUBRC = 0 .
    Reward points if useful.

Trying to find a Passive Voice counter or detector for my daughters in school … they've been told to use MS Word … hoping I can identify same in Pages.  Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I take it you are objecting to the lack of passivity in my statements.
    I assumed nothing.
My statement stands. Healthy humans are making themselves educational cripples by clutching at "smart solutions", which aren't.
Ms Word manages to mark down the Gettysburg Address and Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" Speech.
It is no wonder people can no longer spell, find their way around, know where, or what anything is, let alone think for themselves, and get diabetes in their teens. All because they jump on cue when anyone says "Buy".

  • Is there a way to identify the key words being used for SEO when I'm visiting a web site?

When I am on a web site, looking at a product for sale, is there an app or add on I can use to see what that site has for key words, meta tags etc? It would be helpful when adding products to my own site to see what works elsewhere.

Do search engines even look at those anymore? URL, title and page content are what's relevant.

  • Using Spotlight to find photos named in iPhoto

I have iPhoto 4 but am upgrading to 6 soon. Reading about how iPhoto organizes photos has been very helpful. I think I can get used to having to use iPhoto to manage my photos (how Windows of it!), although I do not like the idea of a photo having a different name in iPhoto than in the Finder. For instance, I use Spotlight a lot, but it does not seem to find the names of photos in iPhoto. Is there a way to use Spotlight to find photos in iPhoto?

    Mark
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Spotlight will not find photos outside of the Search in the iPhoto Window. It doesn't index the library6.iphoto file. So, titles comments and keywords etc are not indexed.
I think I can get used to having to use iPhoto to manage my photos (how Windows of it!),
You don't have to use iPhoto you know. But if you do, finding your pic files is very easy. There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Rolls in the iPhoto Window correspond exactly with the Roll Folders in the Originals Folder in the iPhoto Library Folder. You can move photos between Rolls, you can rename rolls, edit them, create them, as long as you do it via the iPhoto Window. Check out the Info Pane (wee 'i', lower left) the name and date fields are editable. Edit a Roll Name using the Info Pane, the Roll Folder in iPhoto Library Folder/Originals will also have the new name.
although I do not like the idea of a photo having a different name in iPhoto than in the Finder.
iPhoto is a photo organiser, not a file organiser. If you're concerned with file names, stick to the Finder. Or name the files before importing them to iPhoto. Other than that, find them visually, or by date, comment, title in the iPhoto Window.
