Using keycommand to go to a position

I hope anyone can help me. I recently swapped from Cubase 4.1 to LE 7.1. In Cubase I could, while playing a song type in the P and a number on the numeric keypad and then I would go to that position in the song while playing. This made it possible to quickly go to a specific part of the song without using the mouse (because that means moving your hand away from the keyboard and is also less accurate). Does anybody know how I can do the same thing in Logic? In the Global Key Commands I found the default keys "- 44" but that doesn's seem to do the trick.
Thanks in advance!

You want the Go To Position key command. I'm not sure what the default is, but in the powerbook keyset I use, it's "/", which lets you type a full spec of where you want to go, in measures, beats, divisions, and ticks.
As an added bonus, if you want to just get the SPL into view, hitting this key command will do that, and escape dismisses it, but now you have the SPL in view again.

  • Using Rule 168, SWX_GET_MANAGER and Chief Position

We have enabled standard SAP Travel Workflow WS20000040 - Approve Trip.   We are not currently using OM relationships A002 (Reports Line to) or B002 (Is Line Supervisor of).   We currently identify the Line Manager of the employee using the Chief Position designation A 012 and would like to use this for Trip approvals in lieu of building all of these additional relationships.
Rule 168 is bound to the workflow.  According to the documentation associated with the rule, it seems that the rule should work with either the A002 or A012 relationship.  However, we only seem to be getting a superior identified when relationship A002/B002 exists.
Are there additional configuration or parameter settings that we might need to consider to make the manager (agent) determined properly exclusively with the Chief Position assignment?
Thanks for  any guidance you can provide.

What I found through trial and error is that rule 168 does indeed evaluate the A012 relationship by default with no change in the standard evaluation path.  In our testing system, the "Chief" postion was not properly assigned.  Once this was resolved, the workflow works properly.
As a side note, I also learned that you must have the parameter WFLOW VAPOS set for the rule to properly look up the organizational structure when a position (and chief) are vacant.

  • Want to use workflow ws20000075 to notify multiple Positions (HR org unit)

We use workflow WS20000075,  in the config IMG 'Define Release Procedure for Purchase Order -> Workflow' , we assign agent HR Position to Release code.  The workflow ws20000075 works fine to send workflow notification to 1 Position - procurement manager. Apparently the config only allow to assign 1 position only for a combination of release group and release code.
What we want to do is for the workflow WS20000075  to notify more than 1 positions (example, Assitance manager, manager and head of department) to release a purchase order. How can this be done ?
    best regads,

Unfortunately I don't have SAP access at the moment, otherwise I would have checked if this is a dead end or not first.
For release of Purchase <u>Requisitions</u> the release codes take a parameter which is used to specify how the workflow is used for the release code (when you use release with classification). This parameter is left empty for no workflow, 1 for agent from customizing, and 9 for agent from user-exit (you need to implement an Enhancement).
If the same possibility exists for release of Purchase <b>Orders</b> here's a trick, assuming your agents can be derived from HR master data. If they can't there's always the possibility of a Z-table, but that requires additional data maintenance, which one should always try to avoid.
The thing is that you can define the agent in customizing, and read that value in your user-exit code. By combining the customizing information with other master data (purchasing group?, other) and HR information (job, organization unit) you can then find all the three agents you want. I've done a similar thing myself, but not for the purpose of finding multiple agents. Worked fine for my purpose, so it could be worth a try.

  • Using scrollbar to show a particular position

Hi!!! i want to use some scrolling facility in my JScrollBar so that my
scroll bar scrolls down to the highlighted line (which is kept in a Vector) in my displayed text area.

depends on how you keep track of your highlighted line position. one way is to use setCaretPosition(int position) which will scroll the text to the position if it is not visible.

  • Solution for using notepad on lap/in reclined position?

    Hello all
I am trying to find a way to around the neck strain, improvised pile of books and hastily shifted coffee tables
Below are two products I have seen, I don't know anyone who actually uses anything for this purpose, so I'm hoping for a personal recommendations/alternatives or quirky solutions from a Macbook user here!

Using your computer in a reclined position is likely to make your neck stiff regardless of what supports the computer; it's your neck that will need support. You don't actually say exactly what other problem()s you're trying to address, so it's hard to advise you.

  • NB Visual Web JSF Uses Transitional DOCTYPE, Need Strict for position:fixed

When trying to create a CSS "position:fixed" element in my project that works for Firefox/IE6/IE7 I looked up the simple CSS hacks that need to be used for IE6. Unfortunately, IE6 MUST use a Strict DOCTYPE to accomplish this, and there appears to be no way to change this in the Visual Web projects.
The only thing I can find is the webuijsf:page element has attributes that depending on their boolean value will toggle between a Transitional and Frameset DOCTYPE.
Unless someone knows a CSS hack for IE6 that works with a Transitional DOCTYPE, is there a way for me to switch the Visual Web JSF stuff to use a Strict DOCTYPE?

  • Use DasyLab to measure torque, rotary position, and RPM

I'm new to DasyLab and am developing an application to measure torque, rotary position, and RPM.  I'll be using an Interface T8 pedestal torque transducer with a built-in rotary encoder capable of measuring angular position, speed, and direction.  The encoder will be outputting 5V TTL at one pulse per degree.  I'm using an MCC 1608GX USB DAQ device capable of reading analog and digital signals.  I'm looking for insight on reading the TTL output from the encoder and converting it to angle and speed.  Any help would be appreciated.

    OK,
If you want to go directly to the 1608 you need to take the counter input and use it as a frequency input.  This will give you the Frequency of the encoder that you can convert to RPM but I don't think you will be able to detect the direction.
To my experience the signal is not very stable due to the software pull but good enough if precision is not a question.
Another oprion is to buy an additional small frequency to analog converter that will take a dirrential output.  This units can usually be programmed for +/- Frequnecy to +/- rpm.
There are models out there that are designed fo quadrature encoders.  The link below is a good example.

  • Using a second (1920x1080) display - horizontal positioning off

today i bought a 21.5" acer h213h widescreen display for use with my '06 macbook pro. i connected it using a dvi to vga display adapter & at its native 1920x1080 resolution it looks great, save for the fact that the leftmost 1" of the screen doesn't seem to be detected. what appears to be a black vertical stripe goes down the side of the screen (a picture is here so you can see what i mean: http://erinfrey.com/help.JPG) any thoughts would be much appreciated. thanks

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you open System Preferences/Displays and look at the preference panel for the external is it set at the highest resolution possible ?
If using Mirror Displays then the external can only display the maximum size your LCD screen can deliver so this is possibly what's going on, if you use Clamshell Mode (external keyboard and mouse and the lid on the MBP closed you will get an image that fills the entire external screen I'd suspect.

  • My iPad mini won't charge at all. I got it for Chrisrmas and it is still in brand new condition and it was fine but now it won't charge at all! It used to charge in an exact position but now it has stopped altogether...Help!!

My iPad mini won't charge at all. I got it for Christmas off my dad and it is still in brand new condition. Until the other day it has been working fine but until yesterday or the day before my charger went all funny. In order to charge my iPad mini you had to put the charger in an exact place and if someone so much as touched it it would stop charging because it wasn't in its exact position. But today I tried to charge it again and I tried getting it in the same spot as yesterday but it is not working at all. I have only ever charged my iPad mini in the wall but I have seen posts about people charging it in the USB in an computer. So I thought I would also try that but that hasn't worked either and now my iPad mini won't charge in a plug or USB and I live really far away from an apple store and I can't get a new charger also because I live far away from the store. So what shall I do?

When and where was the iPad/charger purchased? It's covered by a 1-year warranty.
The problem may be the USB cable.

by declaring EXISTING before the named set reference as below.
    SET [Member Descendants] AS
    [Calendar].[By Year - Quarter - Month].CurrentMember.CHILDREN
    MEMBER [Measures].[Estimate] AS
    IIF(
    ISLEAF([Calendar].[By Year - Quarter - Month].currentmember),
    IIF(
1=1, // Simplified for examples sake
    [Measures].[Actual],
    [Measures].[Budget]
    SUM(
    EXISTING [Member Descendants],
    [Measures].[Estimate]
EXISTING will force the named set to be evaluated with the context of each cell evaluation.

  • How to use JDBC Positional Binding Style & ExecuteWithParams?

Can anyone provide any help here including any documentation on how to configure this (I've checked online help and the developer guide.)
When defining multiple Bind Position variables on a View Object (using sql statement binding style: JDBC Positional), should I defined multiple bind variable names? Otherwise, if I don't, when I use ExecuteWithParams operation to create the data control, only one input variable field is displayed. I can get a single bind position variable to work, but am struggling on how to configure / get multiple bind position variables to work with ExecuteWithParams.
    Here's my current configuration:
    1. Define View Object with two JDBC Positional Binding Parameters
-- Bind Variables: name=parm1 (???should I define a second bind variable name???)
    -- Bind Positions = 0,1
-- SQL Statement add another position var in where clause: "match (zip) against (CONCAT(?,'*') IN BOOLEAN MODE) and "match (name) against (CONCAT(?,'*') IN BOOLEAN MODE)
    2. On a JSF page, drag ExecuteWithParams operation from data control onto the JSF page. If I have defined only one bind variable name, only one input field is displayed (and one field label that I defined for that bind variable), but I need two input fields - one for each bind position variable. How do I set this up?
Back-end Database is MySQL 5.0.1 which is why I am using binding stye JDBC positional.
    Thanks, Tom

I did some more testing and the problem is that the queries work with one bind position variable but not with two. I created two simple view objects off of the same entity object to test:
#1 - ViewObject with one bind position variable - where clause: where id > ?
#2 - ViewObject with two bind position variables - where clause: where id > ? and id < ?
I created two separate .jspx pages, view1.jspx (one input field) and view2.jspx (two input fields), for each view object by dragging ExecuteWithParams operation onto the JSF page.
The .jspx page with one input field works (returns result sets.) The view2.jspx page with two input fields does not work - the query does not return any result sets (no errors produced, it just does not return any rows) - I've tested my query outside of jdeveloper and it works fine. I also tried switching my inputs to make sure I did not have an illogical query (i.e., id >100 and id< 1).
Is there anything different / extra I need to do to use two bind position variables?
    I'm STUCK HERE.
Everything in this simple test was identical except for using 2 input variables versus 1.
Technology stack is: jdeveloper 10.1.3, jsf/ADF BC, mySQL 5.01
Since I now understand what the problem is better, I'm going to re-post this as a new topic that more appropriately describes the problem, "Queries not working with multiple bind position variables?"

  • Using MAST/VAST with position conditional triggers

Hi folks! I'm trying to use a MAST file that loads in VAST files to do preroll, midroll, and postroll all from the same XML. Each of these is triggered by a timecode using a property condition looking at position. Essentially, when the currentTime is greater than or equal to a time code, it triggers the ads. Currently the events are firing at the right time, and the VAST files are being loaded and translated correctly, but all three videos are playing after the main content finishes. Can anyone tell me how to remedy this?
Here are some more clues. The conditions for triggering look something like this:
    <startConditions>
                                            <condition value="20" type="property" operator="GEQ" name="position" />
    </startConditions>
    <endConditions>
                                            <condition type="event" name="OnItemEnd" />
    </endConditions>
Another clue is that I delved into the MASTPlugin and found in the getInsertionIndex method of MASTProxyElement a comment:
"if our current child is in the midst of playback, we don't want to interrupt it, so we insert immediately after the current child."
The playing status is determined by the presence of a time trait with a currentTime or by the presence of a play trait with a play state of PLAYING. Since the position property will only be triggered after the main content is playing, it would seem that content added with a position trigger would always be added to the end of the main content. Is there some easy way to do this using position triggers or something that might be wrong with the XML?
I am aware of Advertising Plugin which does a great job of this very task, but unfortunately the client wants to use MAST/VAST and uses tracking implemented in the VAST data. Anybody have a solution, or should I start sweet talking the client?

Wow, I missed this question a long time ago.
The basics of what I did were to remove any use of SerialElements or ParallelElements from the MASTProxyElement class. I passed in references to the main MediaContainer and MediaPlayer through metadata on the plugin resource and passed those to the MASTProxyElement from the MASTPluginInfo class. Then I gutted the onDocumentProcessed method of MASTProxyElement. That is what executes when it detects an ad needs to play. There I made the most changes making it just create standard media elements rather than messing with Parallel and Serials. I then created a separate MediaContainer and Player solely for the ads. Using a stage reference off of the main MediaContainer, I add my container to the stage, pause and hide the main player, and then listen for the completion of the ad from my separate player. When that is complete, I clean up my ad and tell the main player to show and resume.
This was a major reworking of the plugin and required a lot of deep diving into the OSMF plugin, along with a few monkey patches to OSMF. The original plugin's support for different versions of VAST and VPAID are incomplete and I had to fix a lot to get a lot of the expanded functionality to work. The plugin codebase is proprietary now, so I cannot share it with the community. However, I am happy to share the general approach I took and to provide a warning about the complexity of the task to anyone attempting to do the same.

  • Could use some help on positioning images

With help here, I'm making my way through ID novice to ID "dangerous". I sorta get layout and sorta get styling and now could use some help with sizing and positioning images.
The test is a 3-column newspaper that I let ID size when the document was created. All the text frames are linked. I now want to put some images on the pages and have the text wrap. I sorta understand wrapping and anchoring, the question is sizing.
Am I on the right path to start thinking that images often need to be sized to a column width or two (plus gutter)? If so, do I size images based on the frame size? For example, the columns show as 3.2222in and the gutter as .1667. Does that mean I want to set the image width to 3.2887 or are things just not that accurate? What are the best practices?
One related question on wrapping: it seems like anchoring the image allows wrapping around only one frame of text but not the other if the image spans two text columns. How do you place and image so that it wraps text in more than one column?
Also, do people make the image smaller than the frame to put a border in when wrapping text?
    Thanks
    Tom

Are you asking about image size as it is saved, or as placed on the page?
With older RIPS it was common to want to save images at the correct dimensions so when placed at 100% they would have the correct resolution. This was to reduce processing time. Today that is less of an issue and it is not at all unusual to scale images in the InDesign layout. (I'm talking raster here -- vector objects can be scaled almost infinitely.)
So, what is the correct size? There are a number of rules of thumb, but the basic one is that images should be placed so that the resolution, at the size they will be printed, is twice the value of the linescreen being used. Anything in the range of 1.5 to 2.5 is probably acceptable, and I know people who routinely send images at 1.4 times the linescreen.
For coated papers and reasonably good reproduction, 150 lpi is not unusual, with 200 lpi for fine art books, so you get the common suggestion that images should be 300 ppi. Newspaper printing is usually accomplished on fairly porous stock at much lower screen frequencies -- 80 to 100 lpi -- so you need considerably less image resolution.
How do you know what the resolution is at the size you've place the image? Look at the info panel with an image selected. You'll see too numbers, an "actual" ppi and an "effective" ppi. The actual number is simply the resolution recorded with the image at its dimensions when it was saved (and digital cameras often save images 20 inches or so wide at 72 ppi) and is basically irrelevant. The effective ppi is the one that matters. If it's too small, either reduce the size of the image on the page, or be prepared to live with less than stellar reproduction. If it's grossly over the requirement it usually won't hurt except for some increased processing time, but the extra image data won't improve things as it gets discarded by the RIP.
It's usually OK to downsample an image in Photoshop, though you will sometimes lose fine detail or subtlety in shading, but you'd probably lose the same things through scaling in ID. Upsampling never helps.
I presume you know that you can place graphical objects in several ways, either into an existing frame, at full size (whatever that happens to be and at the "actual" resolution) by clicking the loaded cursor on an empty spot on the page, or you can click and drag a new frame the size you want. When an image is first placed it will always be "actual size" unless some scaling factor has been applied to the frame in advance, so you may not see the entire image. You then have several fitting options available to either make the frame fit the image or the image fit the frame (and in newspaper work you pretty much only want to fit to or fill the frame proportionally).
I personally like keeping the images snapped to the column grid, but it's by no means an iron-clad rule. You want to avoid situations, though, where an image impinges on a column to the point that the remaining text is unworkably narrow.
I don't know why you are using anchored frames for your images (text wrap only affects text in the frame after the anchor point). It's not likely in a newspaper that you would want the pictures to move on the page if you edit the text. You can group the image, caption and story, if you like, so that they all stay together if you need to re-arrange the page or move them to a new location.
I don't know if I answered your question. Feel free to come back for clarification.

  • Determining position and velocity using an accelerometer

I have a test subject (elevator), and I'd like to use an accelerometer and graph out position v time, velocity v time, acceleration v time. Has anyone ever done this? I am getting stuck on how to obtain my velocity and position when the elevator is at a constant velocity. I tried to use statistical analysis and determine the velocity based on the length of time during acceleration but the timer for max value seemed to keep increasing even when velocity was at zero. Can anyone give me insight on this project?

Zero acceleration is NOT the same as zero velocity.
Zero acceleration just means your velocity is not changing.
I set up a test that used an array stating I had a constant acceleration for a given period of time, then 0 acceleration for a given period, and then a negative acceleration. This was so simulate the elevator moving from the ground level to the top floor.
In a simulation, if your +accel is the same magnitude as your - accel, and the +accel time is the same as the -accel time, and if you start from a velocity of 0 and a position of 0, then it seems like your simulation would be correct: the elevator is at rest, it takes off at a certain accel rate until it reaches "cruising speed",it cruises for some time, then decelerates to where velocity = 0, and remains there.  Position is somewhere other than zero.
Maybe you can post your simulation code?
