Using landline number as a callerid?

Hello,
We use Skype for business purposes. To this end, I need to setup my office number/landline as a callerid. I have read many posts regarding this issue from people with the same problem dated over two years ago. At that time, it was only possible to use a mobile (or Skype username). I would like to know have things changed since then? We can provide an invoice from our provider to verify the number if needed. Please, advise?

You are correct; Skype does not permit a land line or office number to be used for a Skype Number caller ID.

Is it possible to use our old landline number, as people may need to contact us. We are anxious to get rid of our landline, as the line rental has become too expensive.

Is it possible to use a landline number as displayed caller id, instead of a mobile number?

I really need to know when a call has come from my landline so I can greet the caller in the appropriate way and also so I can be sufficiently short as I am getting charged for the call from my BT landline to my mobile.

That is not a feature that's available on the iPhone. Sorry.

"We understand that you wish to add your Google Voice number as your caller ID for your Skype account. We are here to clarify this concern.
It is not possible to set up your Google Voice number as your caller ID in Skype. We recommend that you use Skype Number or a mobile number as your caller ID."

How can this be fixed? Most of my numbers are saved as 7 digit

So I THINK I've figured this out. Hopefully. I was getting the same problem when I was trying to text my boss and my dad. I went back to try to delete the contact and try again and I noticed that I had the little phone icon next to their numbers and not the messaging text bubble. But I'd also left their type of phone as "home" in the drop down menu. I edited that to mobile and boom, got the text messaging bubble. Tried texting them both, I could now send the message.
I think if the number is set to home the phone assumes it's a landline and doesn't even try to send. I think the people who have had success deleting and re-inserting the contact edited that piece of information without realizing it.
I really hope this solves your problem!

UK resident - I have a 60 minutes-per-month subscription to a relative's landline in South Africa. This person has just moved home and there is no landline available at this new home. Can I cxhange the landline number associated with my subscription, possibly with an adjustment due to cost variations between landlines and cell-phones, with his cell-phone? ------- This subscription was renewed on 07-JUL-2013, and the second month of the quarter is about to start on 07-AUG-13.... I currently have 50 of this month's 60 minutes available - can this be used to call his cell-phone?

Using Skype number for America

Morning Skypers!
I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have a Skype number here in the UK which allows clients to ring a landline number and I can answer in Skype. It works well and I'm very happy with it.
What I would like to do is set up another Skype number for the US. This way clients in the US, without Skype, can call a US number and get through to me inexpensively. What I'm looking for is some clarification on calling charges in the US as I know there are long distance costs which I'm trying to avoid. Which state should I set the number up in so the maximum number of clients in the US can call the number without paying long-distance charges?
If I'm barking up the wrong tree and it is the same price to call every state if you are a US citizen then let me know but I'm pretty sure it costs more for some states to call others.

You can use a Skype ATA adapter like the Freetalk Connect Me. It's a standalone device that allows you to use your Skype account like a landline. I use it with my wireless DECT phone system and I'm pleased with the quality. It does not work or interact with Microsoft accounts, but is compatible with transitional Skype IDs.

Impossible to find my bt landline number on BTwhol...

I had my BT phone line installed on 3rd April. I am now trying to connect a home broadband with another broadband supplier. It appeared that my landline number is inactive.
I also tried BTWholesale Broadband Availability checker. It showed - There is no data available for this number. This could be either because it is not a BT line or it is a new BT number that has just been provided. Most new numbers will appear on the checker 24 hours after BT has installed the line.
Obviously I had my BT phone line installed more than 24 hrs so far. But my number is still not appear to this checker.
This cause me a big problem when I was trying to get a home broadband.
I have phoned BT over 10 Times so far. I asked the BT customer advisers. No one seems to know why this happened. No one can tell me which BT department I should contact to sort out this problem. I was given different answers each time and I was advised to use BT broadband instead.
Does this mean BT landline user can only get BT broadband?

hi, yeah i knew i should contact the broadband provider.
so i decided to switch to BT broadband after failure to get broadband with other supplier. I was told by a couple of BT customer advisors that our BT can provide you the broadband. We know the landline is active and runing ok. Then i decided to place an phone and broadband order online after consulting with a few BT online sale advisors. I placed an order on 12th April and received an confirmation email. I didnt hear anything update since. Then i phoned the BT customer service again on 14th April and was told that they couldnt put my order through cos there is a fault on my landline. Engineer is working on this problem and they will sort out by 17:00 o'clock Monday and will phone me back.
So i waitded for whole weekend and whole day today until 19:00. No one phoned me or emailed me whatsoever. Then i phoned the customer service again. After diverting to several different departments, i was told that BT was unable to provide me the broadband with my landline due to BT broadband coverage. I couldnt get refund of my line rental saver (which is 129pounds) cos i didnt let them know within 10days once the line is active!
i keep contacting BT from 4th April almost every day to ask why i couldnt get the broadband with my landline. I was told by customer advisors, i dont know, your landline is perfect fine. They all suggested me to get a BT broadband.
If bt is unable to provide me any broadband service, why the sales people either over the phone or online didnt tell me after i told them my landline number and home address. If i knew this issue, i would cancel my contract ages ago rather than waiting BT to phone me back Which is never gona happen!
I am really upset of this whole thing.
really disappointing with BT service!

Landline number

I have both a broadband and landline phone. However I dont use the landline phone but still pay for it.
Can I migrate my landline number to my broadband phone so that I dont have to contact everyone to let them know. Also when I use the broadband phone people assume, when they see on caller display,
it is some sort of dodgy number.

your broadband talk number and the availability of broadband talk will cease at the end of this year so you need to maintain your existing phone number

Someone else has my skype landline number

I bought a skype landline number for my business and I occasionaly get calls on it . Most people use my mobile number or email. Every now and again I will get a phonecall with someone asking for a totally different company. At first I thought that this was just a mix up as it didnt happen very often but today I got the name of the website the person got the number from and it is the EXACT SAME landline number as my own! Ive searched the forums and tried to find a was to contact skype to no avail.
Anyone know how to fix this? I want to know where the problem lies before contacting this other company.

imo, only two possibilities are likely
either someone else had your Skype Number IN THE PAST (this is to be expected, and it is commonplace for carriers to delay re-cycling a number), or the website has a simple 'typo'
there's not much Skype can do -- you can cancel your Skype Number and get another one if you wish, but I'd suggest you start by contacting the webmaster of the site that is publishing your number

Skype caller ID using landline that receives texts

My landline number in Ireland can receive texts, as can landlines in many other countries.
However Skype verification texts are not coming through.
In Ireland why can't skype texts reach these textable landline numbers while all other phone operators can?
Can someone knowledgable comment?

Cannot call Japan landline number

For years I was able to call a certain landline number in Japan, but since about 2-3 weeks it tries to connect, no dial tone and stops.
I tried other Japanese landline numbers and they connect just fine.
If I use my normal landline I can call without problems, normal dial tone and the person picks up.
But normal landline is very expensive
Any ideas ?
