Using lens correction in CS5 changes default file settings

When I use lens correction in CS5, it switches the default file format from jpg to pdf.
Now, that is simple enough to change back for a file or two, but it really messes up any worf flow. Batch processing using an action cannot include a simple "save" because due to the change in format it goes to "save as" and then every file would get named as the first one. If I just choose save and close in the batch options, the dialog to change file types opens after every file and it becomes a hassle. Is there a way to deal with this in a better way? Or is this just a matter of the trial version of CS5?

Hi Joel,
Are you talking about the lens correction batch script as invoked from the File>Automate>Lens Correction...? Can you describe your steps to reproduce the bug?
Thanks,
-Simon

Do I need to use lens correction in Lightroom 5 develop module it I have it enabled in camera ? (Canon 5D3)

Thanks very much John, I noticed when I applied it in LR5 it made a difference, but I guess what I was asking was it being applied twice, and as I shoot in raw you have answered my question, thank you so much.

Your camera will only apply lens correction (if switched on) to JPEGs, not to RAW files. Clearly you do not want to apply it twice.

  • Add the option to always use lens correction

I find that I almost always use Lens Correction.
Could you please add an option to Always Use Lens Correction.
    Thanks

Glad to hear you have it working.  Setting your own defaults is a powerful feature.
By mentioning the things above I've been trying to help you avoid some of the additional potholes we've all run through, as well as trying to make a point that if you give attitude, you get attitude.  By contrast, if you ask nicely you tend to get nice answers.
Perhaps it's not clear that most of us are here - Molly, myself, and a bunch of others - because we genuinely like helping other folks.  While everyone understands you may be feeling frustration, turning the process of interacting on the forum into a nasty thing isn't appreciated by anyone.  I'm sorry that you felt some frustration in return at my answers.
So...  Now that we understand one another, let's just wipe the slate clean and move on.

  • To change "Default Report Settings"

    Hello All,
In the interactive report, I am wondering to change “Default Report Settings”.
    Thanks in advance,
    EB NY

Make sure you're logged into the builder as a developer, pick the columns you want, filters, ordering...etc. When you are done, click Save Report - developers have the option of saving default report settings.
Again you will only see this option if you are logged into the builder.

  • LR4 Beta...another problem with using Lens Correction

Not sure if it's me or the beta. I'm trying to do a lens correction on a file that was edited in CS5. The photos were taken in 2009/10. They are importing as Process 2012.
I'm using the Lens Correction in manual. About 15 seconds after I start using the sliders, my LR stops working and I have to close the program (white outs the screen with the note saying the program has to be closed).
I do know there can be problems with a beat so I wanted to post this problem in case it is a bug in the system.

I have the same probem if I try to push the scale slider down below about 87%.  It is quite annoying when it keeps happening on the same photo. It's not something I use a lot but it can be necessary with tall buildings when the correction pushes the top out of the frame.

  • Change default file manager in linux

After upgrading to Firefox 10.0 for Linux "Open containing folder" in downloads opens in nautilus and not my default file manager.
I'm not finding how to change this behavior.

File associations are a mess right now. Many programs (Opera included) handle them their own way. There's a project underway to handle associations in a standard way (see MIME actions, shared MIME info, desktop entries, all at freedesktop.org), but not all software uses it; KDE is a notable holdout (3 at least, not sure about 4).
Note that that first spec link, MIME actions, is currently "in the requirements-gathering / early-planning stages." That means there is no spec for that. As I said, a mess.
Most likely, Opera and Thunderbird detected you were running KDE and special-cased their association-finder to ask KDE instead. Now that you aren't, they're falling back to their normal behavior: use the first .desktop file to claim the MIME type. As I recall, both applications offer ways to specify associations in their preferences; you might just want to stick to that for now. Or use a desktop environment.
The kernel-level MIME support is designed to allow execution of strange files using interpreters. For example, you could directly execute Windows applications (as in "./notepad.exe") by setting the kernel to "interpret" application/exe files using wine. No applications use it for opening files.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 - changing default file time

When I scan a file in Photoshop Elements 10 the default file type is always BMP.  Is there anyway to make it default to JPEG?  I work with a lot of files and having to change each one is an extra step I would like to get rid of.  Thanks

  • Lens correction in CS5

I installed CS5 on two windows 7 64-bit computers. The first photo I tried needed lens correction. Now I wish I'd kept CS4 on one of the computers because, imo, lens correction has been dumbed down and downgraded in CS5. 'Tis fancier and seems less functional.

  • Use Lens Correction or Transform/Skew for Vertical Perspective??

I recently visited the Redwoods in California and took many photos of trees with a wide angle lens, which as you know causes the trees to bend inwards. I have tried using both Filter/Distort/Lens Correction and Transform/Skew to attempt to correct the problem. It is my observation that Lens Correction reduces the number of pixels by producing a trapezoid shaped image with the sides slanting inwards. Skewing does the opposite: increases the pixels by creating a trapezoid with the sides slanting outwards.
What are the pros and cons of using each method to correct vertical perspective? How will the image quality differ with each method? Thanks!!

  • Changing default printer settings in SAP Portal

    Hi,
When i am trying to print the report in SAP Portal, the default page setting is A3 , i need to change it to 8.5 * 11 inches.
    Is it possible??
    Thanks
    Janc

    Hi,
You can change the Page Settings in your Internet Explorer.
    File --> Page Setup.
    Try doing this.
Are you on BI 3.5 or 7.0?
Also, you are using the Query Designer or WAD ?
In WAD7.0 you can Export the Template with the Query and set the size as A4 or 8.5 x 11 inches.
While viewing the Query designer output also, you select the size. Default is A4.
